This was an amazing experience exploring Madeira with Ricardo. He is excellent at what he does and has a genuine passion for Madeira, which he shared with us throughout the tour. We loved every stop, and the itinerary allowed plenty of time to enjoy each location without feeling rushed. We had an amazing day with Ricardo, showing us so many unique and beautiful aspects of Madiera. We had the open top 4WD and it was perfect for the tour we booked. Ricardo was very informative, being a passionate local, with so many great insights. This tour was a highlight of our trip and we will never forget it. Thanks Ricardo for a fantastic time. A wonderful opportunity to see parts of Madeira we would never have attempted to go. Driving some of the old country roads and hearing of the history was very interesting.

Marie was a phenomenal tour guide who was so knowledge of the island, culture, history, and very courteous. We had an 11/10 experience getting to learn about Madeira from her and see the most amazing sites with perfect weather. She is so charismatic and provided excellent commentary the entire trip with such great recommendations in Funchal. We ended our Madeira trip with a fantastic meal at Restaurante Central Grill that we would not have known about otherwise. Tried delicious Portuguese wine on the tour. She found the best parking which made each stop so convenient! Will tour again on the next trip to Madeira.

Pick up from hotel on time and by the brilliant guide/driver Maria! Enjoyed the trip seeing bits of Madeira we wouldn’t have seen in a bigger vehicle, winding roads and a track through the woods. Stunning views and an enjoyable day had.

Great professional tour of the west & northwest of the island.

What a brilliant day and amazing value for money. We spent the whole day being entertained by Maria who was knowledgeable, funny and always checking we were comfortable. Safety is a priority for this company and even though some of the roads were a bit hairy I felt very safe. We had a bonus stop to sample Madeira wine and were taken to see some breathtaking views. A fantastic way to see lots of the Madeira highlights with heaps of local knowledge thrown in.

One of the highlights of my entire trip to Portugal. Our guide, Ricardo, was fantastic, informative, friendly, just great energy. My friend and I sat in the back of the car and had a chance to stand up during one of the off-roading moments. Views were incredible as well. Convenient pick up right from our hotel.

We had a fantastic day exploring the west of Madeira by Jeep. The scenery was breathtaking, taking us through mountains, valleys and forests, along dramatic coastlines and to the island’s beautiful natural pools. Our guide, Ricardo, was exceptional—friendly, peaceful and incredibly knowledgeable. He shared so much interesting information about Madeira and always made sure that we were comfortable and safe, particularly during the more adventurous parts of the journey. He took fantastic care of us throughout the day and was genuinely a lovely person. The tour allowed us to experience the beautiful soul of Madeira, and we cannot thank Ricardo enough for making the day so memorable. We can’t wait to return and fall in love with the island even more—if that is possible! Highly recommended.

Nuno was hilarious and extremely kind. I didn’t actually look at all the places we were going to so it was a surprise and it was a really good mix of moving around but also in the car. He explained the history of Madeira & showed us the little things you might miss. It was a really lovely day & highly recommend. 1 thing is if you are wanting the open back vehicle maybe email them as we just had a regular 4x4 but it was still great & worth it!

This was a private tour for my granddaughter and myself. We asked to add into the itinerary the zip line and big swing near Porto Moniz and also to swim in the natural pools at Porto Moniz. The zip line and the big swing were absolutely amazing! We thoroughly enjoyed this! The swimming pool was very busy so not so much fun unfortunately. Ricardo was our Team Leader for our day. We went through Camera de Lobos and saw all the fantastic decorations made from plastic bottles etc ... they looked amazing. Ricardo took us around the area on many of the very old roads that were the first roads built for traffic, and are still used today. Many of these are very steep and very narrow. He explained all about the bananas, grapes and other plants. What these were used for and how they were sold etc. It was all really interesting information. We went to several view points giving us fantastic views of natural Madeira. The jeep was brilliant with the roof off as it was such a lovely sunny day. We had a really long, interesting and happy day. We learned lots about Madeira and had great fun. Thank you very much Ricardo.

Great day out with lots of stop offs at view points and tourist attractions inc the lava pools. To note: Can get bumpy and dusty if you go off road in the jeep but a fun drive! Take swim gear /towel for natural pools. Take light long sleeved top as high ground area can be overcast/cloudy

Viktor was the best driver and guide! He was extremely personable and engaging, and super funny. He fit right in with our small group of 6. His English was perfect as well. His knowledge of the island and mainland Portugal was impressive. He went out of his way to show us unique sites and locations. The vehicle is 4x4 Land Rover, which seemed nicer than the other companies vehicles. Madeira island reminded us of Hawaii but with an Amalfi coast vibe. We absolutely loved it! We would definitely recommend this tour to others.

Ricardo was an excellent guide. He told us so much about the island - its history; its flora and fauna; the development of its road system and the levada system; the problems of over development of the island and how it was being addressed (or not!). All this while driving us through the most astonishing landscapes. As for the Fanal Forest - wow! - what a unique experience. What a great day out!

We had a great day tour. Maria our guide and driver (one of the most wonderful people on this earth) collected us at our apartment perfectly on time. After we collected the rest of the passengers we had a tour of the western part of Madeira. We went past all the known highlights had some stops to enjoy the views, had a small Madeira wine tasting in a really nice wine bar, went swimming in the Natural Lava pools in Porto Moniz and more. It is a must do tour in Madeira and suitable for everyone as long as you can handle some of the rough roads in Madeira. Even though the car is really well suspended I don't think you will enjoy some of the roads you will pass (although it is really worth passing them). We also met some of the other cars from the company at the stops and noticed all the guides got along very well and took the time also for people from the other cars. They all seemed to enjoy their job which I always find a great plus. The whole tour is also not very expensive of you see what you get in return for a full day trip from 9am till 6pm. And gives you a great full day Madeira experience. My compliments to the team and especially Maria!

Incredible experience, a must do. Traveling Madeira in a 4x4 was exiting, especially because we were able to travel through the local, smaller roads busses could not, and visited many great spots in the island. Ricardo did an awesome job!

Joao was an awesome guide! He arrived at the meeting point on time and ensured we all moved around the vehicle for different views of where we were going. He made great and affordable lunch options, took us for a Madeira wine tasting and made the entire day. The vehicle was great and spacious with an open room and sideways seating in the back seat. Saw a lot of sights and definitely worth the money. Highly recommend the company

Fantastic experience! Our guide, Marie was a total hoot! Very informative on the vegetation that grows throughout Madeira, as well as all the fruits and vegetables that grow throughout the land. We loved that she encouraged everyone to shift seats throguhout the day, so you could get different views from the jeep and also not be stuck in the back the whole time. Really appreciated how Marie asked at the start of the day if anyone had any early dinner reso's to be back for, since no one did, she encouraged everyone to take their time at each stop. Nice small group, only 5 people plus our guide! The off road expereince up to Fanal Forest was really fun and amazing to see parts of the island you wouldn't get to from a regular car. Even though it was cooler in Porto Moniz, we were still able to swim in the pools in April! You can rent lockers there and 15 mins was lots of time to experience the natural pools. Very good value! Would highly recommend this tour!

Marie was great! The weather kept swinging between blue skies and drizzle, but it didn't stop us. She brought us to some off-the-beaten-path locations and filled us in on the backstories of everything we did and saw. The areas on this tour are so different from the Funchal area - I highly recommend this tour.

We had a great adventure with our tour guide Nuno. He is very professional, knowledgeable and looked after us very well. We all had a great time together, good vibe, good view, good laugh and humour. Really enjoyable time going round the West side of Madeira. We highly recommend this trip especially the off road experience, it was just amazing !

Juan was a lovely guide with plenty of knowledge, charisma and exceptional English skills making the entire journey very comfortable. He adapted our tour as appropriate through the day as some members of the (small - 5 people) group didn’t drink, so we went to view some waterfalls instead of a Poncha tasting. The vehicle was comfortable and clean with plenty of space for everyone, would highly recommend Juan and Nature Connections for tours in the future.

Amazing tour! Ricardo, our guide was extremely knowledgeable, and we were able to see many of the sights in Madeira. We lucked out with a very clear and sunny day, even in the Fanal forrest. I look forward to returning to the island and will definitely book a tour with Ricardo again. Wonderful experience on a beautiful island!

The driver/host was excellent. 4 x 4 Jeep Tour to West and Northwest. I forget the driver’s name. He was punctual, friendly, knowledgeable, easy-going. He certainly knows Funchal. His driving was excellent. The off-roading was exciting. My wife’s first experience with off-roading. We saw lots of places in the one day. The timing was good. We had a family of four in our group. Two children, ages 2 and 5. The driver was excellent with them. They sat in the two back seats and he talked to them, and they sang to us. Was like a party! An all-round good experience.

We had an absolutely amazing time with our guide. He was so knowledgeable about the history of the island and answered any questions we had. The routes we took, we would never have seen on our own and the timings for each stop were just right. Fanal forest was a must see!

Great trip out with João. We spent the day together in a Discovery visiting a variety of places on all types of road. We enjoyed the off-road ones best! João was very knowledgeable and gave suitable facts and history for each place. He was knowledgeable on birds and trees and other flora and fauna. He answered all our questions, no matter what they were about, but also made it a fun and relaxing journey. The timings at places were adaptable to our wishes. He made sure we were happy throughout the tour. We liked driving through the eucalyptus forests with the top cover off the Discovery, the fanal trees in the mist were beautiful, swimming in the lava pools at Porto Moniz was a good way to refresh ourselves before a snack, the views everywhere were beautiful. Great opportunity for photography. Nature Connections were so nice and pleasant to communicate with from booking several weeks ago through to saying goodbye to João today. We would book them again. Thank you again to João, best representative of Madeira we've met so far.

This tour was definitely something I would recommend to anyone coming to Madeira as you see so much of the island in one day.

Ricardo was our guide and driver for the day. My friend and myself were the only participants on this trip. Ricardo is so very knowledgeable about the Island and gave us so much information which we gladly soaked up. He is also very familiar with the old original roads in the Island and we used some of these wonderful roads during the day. They were very interesting and great fun. Ricardo stopped at so many different places not always villages or sights but sometimes on the side of the road to point out fruit and how it is grown. Vegetables, how the people of Madeira farm the land of precarious ledges and grow their fantastic fresh food. How they grow several foods on the same piece of land together. It was all very fascinating for us. We had a fantastic day. Saw so many wonderful views and sights. Learned so much from Ricardo about the Island and the people. We were dropped off tired and very very happy! We will be back Ricardo!

This tour is so worth it! The drive felt safe but was so much fun, we learned so much about this side of the island. Plenty of the stops have washrooms, so don't worry about that. You'll stop at amazing view points, towns, and forests. You'll take new roles and old roads, and you'll experience so many amazing sights. This was the best day of our entire vacation.
