4x4 Jeep Tour To East & Northeast Of Madeira

Excellent tour with a really excellent tour guide. Nuno was funny, patient and friendly and did a great job showing us around the island.

Fabulous day trip led by Robert who was engaged, enthusiastic and full of knowledge. Allowed us to explore in our time, never felt rushed and always very safe despite some exciting and very narrow roads!

Our guide, Marie, was an excellent driver and guide. She was informative and appropriately entertaining. Itinerary and timing were managed well. We were thrilled that she was also our driver and guide for the trip to the east two days later. The vehicle was comfortable and communication with Nature Connections was timely and informative.

It was lovely to do the eastern side of the island as we had also done the west. Tour guide made it very enjoyable and never rushed us. Lovely recommendations for coffee break and lunch as well as some less touristy stops. The jeep allowed us to travel on narrower roads than doing the tour in a minibus . Would definitely recommend doing both trips with this company.

Wow!! What an absolutely incredible experience, hands down the highlight of our visit to Madeira. From the point of pickup to drop off, we had a fantastic time. Ricardo is so knowledgeable and helpful, and has such genuine passion about his country, it was a pleasure to spend the day in his company. We learnt so much and made memories for life. This was a brilliant tour, although for small parts you are off road enjoying the flora of the older forest you always felt safe. The guide/driver was extremely knowledgeable and interesting. We highly recommend this tour.

We had a great time on this tour. Our guide Marie was amazing …she shared a wealth of information along the tour allowing ample time to enjoy each stop along the way and her humor was appreciative 😊. She made our trip very memorable. We were also fortunate to have great people to share the tour with.

We had a fantastic guide, Ricardo, on both trips to North/West and North/East. He was very friendly, relaxed and a great driver. The parts off road were amazing. Ricardo was very knowledgable, and shared a lot about Madeira’s history, nature and agriculture. We stopped at amazing places and views. Unforgetable tours!

A great way to explore the better and also the lesser known sights of the island. Richardo our guide provided a wealth of information about Madeira, its history and present,as well as taking us on a thrilling off-road adventure to some of the most out-of-the-way places. Such a shame we had to go home rather have chance to explore the west of the island

Take comfortable warm clothes as weather can be unpredictable. The off reading part is quite rough but fun.

I could write all day about just how fantastic this trip was From the initial welcome handshake of our tour guide Ricardo (who is 3rd generation guide) the tone was set for a fantastic days experience He was the ‘most’ informative guide we have ever had and we do a lot of tours - he was patient- knowledgeable- interesting and interested- funny- and just knew the island so well he knew every bump and route so well The whole experience was just mind blowing - the heights we drove to- the views- the plants- the local history- the rum factory experience - the mountains- the beaches - just fantastic The only disappointment we could think of was that we didn’t want it to end - We would 100% highly recommend this company and this tour So looking forward to returning and doing the west coast side tour

Was a full day of activities. Ricardo was an excellent guide. Friendly, knowledgeable. We left our phone in the jeep and he immediately returned it to the hotel.

I highly recommend this tour of the east and northeast of Madeira, particularly with this company. Our guide was really friendly, very knowledgable and took us to see many highlights on this side of the island. It’s definitely worth paying the slightly higher cost to tour in 4x4 jeep with a local guide and to experience off-roading along the old roads of the island. Superb knowledge. We travelled with the same company on a different day, again 4x4 to see the west and northwest of Madeira. This is a beautiful island with stunning scenery and it’s definitely worth choosing both tours to see the diversity of the landscape and learn so much about the history of the island.

Another lovely day out with João to a variety landscapes. We particularly liked the Nun's Valley, the Levada walk and the off-road sections of the trip. We also ended up in the midst of a festival in Santana which was lovely. As before João was a good driver and a wonderfully knowledgeable guide.

The guide and driver was so much fun and was very knowledgeable and social. A well full day spent, totally recommend.

Extremely knowledgeable & experienced guide, Ricardo, showed us the best of the North & West of Madeira. The Landrover Defender was comfortable & spotless & needed for the some of the tracks you are taken on. Definitely a trip not to miss. Took the 4x4 tour with Joao and had a lovely day. He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Itinerary changed on account of bad weather but we still had an amazing experience with some extra stops along the way that made the changes all the worth it. Would definitely recommend to any couples thinking of going on a 4x4 tour. Worth it for the views alone.

Our second trip in two years with Ricardo, my husband and I enjoyed last year’s tour so much we didn’t hesitate to book again this year. A family of 5 adults this time, in the open top Land Rover- a real treat; we learnt so much about Madiera’s history and culture, the views were incredible and the experience unforgetable.

Great day out exploring the east of the island - kept to schedule and promised stops (which some tours don’t do!), great tour guide (sorry can’t remember his name but not the boss!) definitely recommend

I booked this after a fair amount of research and after reading other reviews of the company. We had the most enjoyable day , I’d highly recommend it and the driver Joao . He was very knowledgeable , informative , chatty, fun & very capable. The off roading part was great fun. We saw the best views learnt lots about the island and saw many little hidden gems we would not have seen unless they were pointed out by our guide. Including a couple of falcons. Just an idea we all had after we wanted to share with the company…..There are lots of tours available and to make them stand out even more than they already do , we thought it would be a great idea at an extra cost to include a typical Portuguese lunch in a remote little village or weather permitting at one of the bbq areas maybe. ? We did stop at Santana for a lunch break , the restaurants were ok but it was a bit of a tourist trap , Nice to see the houses however.

Ricardo was so knowledgeable, pleasant and capable. We learned so much and enjoyed every minute. We saw so much of the east side of the island and did a lot of off-roading in the Land Rover, that we could not have done on our own. I would do another one of their tours in a minute.

We had a great trip with João, who was a knowledgeable, witty and engaging guide. It was a great way to see the island, including some places we would otherwise have missed, and some amazing views. The off-roading was good fun. Unfortunately the day started out wet and cloudy so we didn't fancy the levada walk but João adapted the itinerary to suit the weather and took us somewhere different instead. Highly recommend.

Juan has so much knowledge that he shares throughout the trip. He was friendly and courteous throughout. I would highly recommend using this company for your jeep experience. A great day out full of new experiences and a real insight to Madeira.

The best tour I've even taken. Our tour guide Ricardo was full of information on Maderia, took us to places we couldn't have seen otherwise and made the day so enjoyable.

This jeep tour was amazing. I did the same tour last year and brought my daughter & her friend with me this year to experience the island in a way we wouldn’t have been able to do ourselves. I was pleased that the stops were not exactly the same as last year, and that we had time to do a lavada walk. Ricardo was the perfect tour guide and his knowledge of the island is extensive. To learn of the beautiful views we saw and the history of the island made the experience that much better and enjoyable. I highly recommend this tour!

Had a great time! Our guide, Joao, was knowledgable and fun. He lead us through some amazing views and showed us the natural beauty from a local that loves his island. We only had a few days on Madiera, this tour showed a lot of the highlights. Highly recommend .

Had an amazing time on the east tour with guide Joao- the whole tour was a great experience from seeing incredible sights and views even though the weather wasn’t the best for us and leaning about the culture, fauna and flora of Madeira. If I could give 6 stars I would. Ricardo was very nice and was very informative about the history and present of the island. We had some good laughs on the way and he made sure to stop at every spot that would give my camera some great shots to brag about at home. The tour was absolutely breathtaking. Can highly recommend.

Ricardo took us on a private North and North-East tour which included lots of stunning viewpoints, a stop at Pico do Ariero , the Verada dos Balcoes levada walk, Santana and a guided hike to Pico Ruivo from Teixeira. We were very lucky with the weather and had a wonderful time. We walked above the clouds at Pico Ruivo which was truly amazing. We highly recommend this tour company. Ricardo made the tour really special. He has so much local knowledge and was able to tell us lots of interesting facts about the island. The off-road experience was awesome but we still felt completely safe at all times.

The day started out rainy, so we didn't get to see all of the overlooks, but go anyway! Later in the day we saw beautiful waterfalls and scenery.

An excellent way to see the island. Our guide Ricardo was so informative and we visited pathways which I'm sure not even the locals will be aware of! An experience not to be missed.

We didn't hire a car, so booked 2 Jeep Tours, this being one and were so glad we did. Our driver/guide, Miguel was hilarious we laughed from beginning to end. He was super helpful and informative but also gave us the ride of our lives standing up in the back of the jeep whilst climbing on twisty-turny off road sections, not for the light hearted to be sure, but fantastic fun if you're up for it.

We were picked up on time, the vehicle was clean and comfortable, and we felt safe on the tour. Our guide João was professional, friendly and super knowledgeable about the island and it's history, plants and animals. The tour was well planned and relaxed. We saw lots of beautiful views and we really enjoyed the experience! We wanted to do a second tour with this company after enjoying the first one so much but they were fully booked for the rest of our stay! Definitely next time!

We thoroughly enjoyed this jeep tour of East and NE Madeira. Our guide, Ricardo, was very knowledgeable about all the places he took us. He was attentive to engaging with all members of our group and kept us safe on the many steep and windy roads this island is known for. We never felt rushed at any of the stops, which made for a fun and relaxed time. We especially enjoyed the levada walk and the ride through the laurasilva forest. Though we didn’t get to see Ponta Ariera at sunrise, the views were still amazing. One thing I would heed warning on to anyone prone to motion sickness, the off-roading can be a bit bumpy. Fortunately, none of our group had issues. Definitely make this trip a part of your Madeira experience!

The trip was amazing, we saw a great mix of Maderia and Ricardo the guide was fantastic! We learnt a lot and discovered the beautiful landscape, it was a small group which was perfect and travelling in the jeep was great fun! we would recommend to anyone and go with this company again

We did the 4x4 tour of East and Northeast Madeira and would recommend it to anyone. Very relaxed and personal experience with personable guides (especially Marie!). Their local knowledge is second to none, which makes the whole day so smooth. The off-roading was great run too, and you can tell they take care of their vehicles and drive in such a way as to not tear up the trails Great fun, would recommend 👌

Awesome tour with the jeep especially the off-road through the milled of the forest. The highlight was of course the view of Pico De Aireiro and the walk through the forest. The visit to the rum fabrics made the day ;) The tour guide was very joyful and competent. He explained everything well and had good conversations throughout the whole tour.
