"Re-canto" Farm-to-table With Stunning Views At Madeira

A wonderfully unique experience and a top highlight of our visit to Madeira. Andres and Marco were very welcoming, informative, and extremely accommodating to dietary needs. In our family alone we have nut allergies, gluten-free, dairy-free, and pescatarian, all of which they were able to modify the dish for the individual or provide them with an alternative. The views were fantastic and the food was outstanding. We really enjoyed learning more about the culture and the land. Our only note is that there didn’t seem to be any clear indication of when the meal was over and when it would be appropriate to leave. Overall it was a 10/10 experience and are very glad we did it.

A very enjoyable experience. We learnt about the history of the land and the plants that are farmed there. Afterwards we were served excellent local food and wine. The owners have a genuine passion for what they do. Fabulous views of Funchal. We shared the evening with some interesting people from around the world. Highly recommended.

My wife and I were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary, we took a Bolt up, could hardly find it, hidden on top a hill. We were warmly greeted, taken to meet fellow travelers on a deck overlooking Funchal in the setting sun, blown away by the views. The farm was growing fruits I had not seen or tasted before, we had salad with the end of season figs, it was so fresh, light, flavor packed. We had a poncha demonstration, it was better than any poncha we had on the island by far. The tour covered his farm that grew grapes, bananas, sweet potatoes, avocados, pears, corn, so much more... Dinner was perfection, from starter, salad, 2 mains to dessert with the setting sun and conversation. The food and cooking demonstration, along with spectacular views, it's a FOODIES and photographers dream in one amazing evening.

It’s was an amazing experience. André and Marco was exceptionel hosts. They were so welcoming and warm and made us feel right at home. The Ponca was the best we’ve had on the island, the farm is so cozy and we got a nice tour of it and the view is simply amazing - absolutely stunning, and the sunset just made it even better. The food was great and well prepared and the gives a great taste of what the island has to offer. The company was exceptionel and we felt like we were at dinner with friends. All around a great experience and one for the books. I would definitely recommend this for anyone. You can look forward to a warm welcome, amazing hosts, great view and surroundings and great food. Had an amazing experience, alot of hard work put in to the farm to deliver a true flavour inspired evening, tasting lovely food prepared by hand and served by a warm and friendly team. Well worth the experience.

Fabulous evening sampling delicious dishes (and the local rum drink Poncha) using home grown, fresh produce. So nice to see a Madeiran farm and learn about all the different fruit and veg, including wine making! Friendly hosts and beautiful setting in the hills. Amazing to see sunset whilst eating dinner. Highly recommend this experience to everyone.

What a truly special experience to be invited by somebody into their home and have them cook for you in the midst of their beautiful farm overlooking an incredible city view! We are so incredibly thankful to Andreas and his team for making this a night we’ll fondly remember for years. The food and the drinks were superb, the atmosphere was stunning, and the company was lovely. We all left the evening with our bellies and hearts full. Definitely don’t miss this!

The warmest of welcomes was followed by a tour of the farm, and what an education it turned out to be. A family run farm that yealds to much from such a concentrated area. Then, the highlight, the food was outstanding but the company was better than anything we could have imagined. Drawn from across the globe, our conversation went into the night over exquisite wine and beautiful views. One on the best night's I have ever have 10/10 and I would give more in a heart beat. Do yourself a favour and book this!

Wow what a fab fun evening with delicious food and wonderful company. There were 20 of us from all over the world. Andria who owned the farm was very passionate about the produce and his farm truly a lovely guy and we got a guided tour of the farm before we sat down to eat. The wine was flowing too. Perfect night and you can get the No 34 bus up to his place from Barceló old town cost of €2.05 17:15 from centre arrived at 17:35 a tad early but wasn’t a problem and then the 9:35 back 1 honestly couldn’t have wished for a better night as this was our last. Definitely recommend

We started the night having a tour of his land and crops. The chef then made delicious Poncho cocktails and then cooked several courses using products from his farm. There were choices of beef or tuna for the main course. It was lovely to share a relaxing meal with other travellers from varouis countries. The views after dark are amazing too ! Well worth going.

A delightful evening. Charming hosts, great location overlooking Funchal at sunset, amazing fruit and veg growing around the house, good food cooked with passion and convivial multinational company. Highly recommended for a different way to understand more about Madeira and its cuisine. His mum’s honey cake with a ponche was a delicious start! Wines from Setubal were well matched with the good (tuna and then beef skewers with stoved potatoes). The panna cotta with rosemary and a sharp orange jam was delicious! Get a Bolt there and back. Inexpensive and no need to worry about finding the location!

This was probably one of our favourite experiences we did during our epic holiday in Madeira. Well worth doing it. We have recommended it to everyone we encountered on holiday. From start to finish it was wonderful. We learnt loads about the farm and wine making watched as our very own poncha was made in front of us (by far the best poncha we tried and we sampled a good few) we then tasted the authentic Madeira cake which was handmade and deliciously moist and flavoursome. We were there escorted to a private dining table where I think there were about 15/20 of us. We met some really interesting people and had a wonderful night with everyone eating the freshly prepared delicious food a lot of which had been grown on the farm. Wine flowed all night and we enjoyed a wonderful sunset in the Funchal mountain. Every course was delicious and cooked to perfection. There was plenty of choice and food for us all to enjoy. It was a really special experience which I will treasure for a lifetime. Don’t miss out.

What an experience ! From start to finish was so good . First a demonstration of Ponca , which was delicious . A tour of the farm which was great , the host was so passionate about what he does and such a variety of produce . And then on to the food which was delicious , beautiful salads , fish , meat and potatoes all beautifully presented and to finish off with wonderful dessert .Also catered well for vegetarian and gluten free. This was a wonderful evening ,will definitely be back again .

What an amazing night at Re-Canto Farm-to-Table. The views were insane, the food was incredible, and the people we met and our hosts were absolutely delightful. It was one of those evenings where everything just came together perfectly, and it's a night we'll remember forever.

The host, the Place and the food is amazing!! We enjoyed the evening so much and and can recommend it to everyone being in Funchal! The farm is very cute and gives a spectacular view, the host gave us additional information on food traditions and was very helpful around food allergies.

This was such a WONDERFUL evening and dinner, a highlight of our trip! Andrea showed us around his farm and then made a delicious, local cuisine focused, multi-course meal. It was a relaxing three hours, filled with watching the sunset, good food, drinks, and conversation. There were 6 of us total and we meet two other couples, sharing stories and recommendations. It was well worth the money and the best meal we had while in Funchal. We highly recommend to everyone!

Our experience started with a tour of the farm and Andrea’s pride was on display - so many types of fruit, herbs and veggies grown on a hillside above Funchal. The dinner consisted of many courses - 2 types of salad, fried polenta with clams, garlic bread and grill beef, among other things. Folks with dietary restrictions were offered delicious alternatives. The meal ended with a perfect panna cotta as the city lights twinkled below. We would definitely recommend this experience!

A unique evening on a gorgeous piece of land where we got a tour of many varieties of local produce from the chef and then enjoyed a fresh, high- quality, several course meal with our group. We had lots of time to connect with other guests - this is not a cooking class, but a chance to sit back and have a delicious meal prepared in the company of new friends!

The farm and the view are absolutely incredible. The sunset was the most beautiful we saw all holiday in Madeira! The food and drinks were really tasty and all home cooked and they used produce from the farm. Our group was fun and we had a lovely dinner together.

This was a magical experience. The location was stunning, the company pleasant, and the food delicious. This is a must do for anyone traveling to Madeira wishing to experience a local farm/home, with authentic foods and a local providing history and a lot of a fantastic information.

What a wonderful night! Between the view, tour of the small farm, the simple yet delicious meal, stories of the family, and a wonderful mixed group we had exceptional time. It was easy to find and getting help for parking was efficient. We are very pleased with the night. If I come back to Madeira I will definitely repeat this experience.

My girlfriend and I joined the experience this week and were completely blown away by our hosts, their gorgeous property and breathtaking view, and of course the food. From beginning to end, we felt welcome and put at ease by both hosts, and were in good company with the other guests throughout. The experience represents a great opportunity to meet other travellers to Madeira, and compare notes and share recommendations. Huge thanks also to our hosts for their recommendations and everything we learned about the island from them. The food was the best we’ve experienced in Madeira. Home made, farm to table, heartwarming dishes, and equally exquisite home made red and Portuguese white wine, and, of course, Poncha. The food kept on coming and our hosts made sure to respect everyone’s preferences and were careful to ensure everybody was satisfied. Lastly, the views from the property are out of this world. If you’re lucky enough, as we were, to experience a golden sunset, then your evening will have been truly magical. Highly, highly recommended!

Amazing experience! Andre was an incredible host and chef, his property is beautiful with one of the best views in Madeira, I don’t want to spoil the dinner but all the food and wine was incredible! We also met so many friendly people. Thank you so much! We will be sure to come back.
