Overall, we had a good stay at Van der Valk Hotel Maastricht. We were three people, including our 6-year-old daughter, and the hotel worked very well for a family stay. The rooms were very spacious and clean, with a functional bathroom and plenty of space for everyone. The breakfast was definitely one of the highlights, with a great variety and good quality. The swimming pool is also very nice and enjoyable, especially with children. However, there should be more places to put towels around the pool area, as it can be difficult to find somewhere convenient to leave them. Another positive point is the very large parking area, which is really convenient if you are travelling by car. There is also a bike station, which is a nice addition for exploring Maastricht by bicycle. Nothing extraordinary, but overall a comfortable and pleasant stay with spacious rooms, a very good breakfast and good facilities. We would consider staying here again.

Stayed here for 2 nights. The room was very clean, the service was great, room corridor smells very welcoming and fresh. The food (dinner) however, is the best part! Thank you!
We booked a last-minute stay for my birthday at Van der Valk and honestly, everything exceeded our expectations. The rooms were absolutely spotless (we stayed in the Deluxe Twin room), easily one of the cleanest we’ve stayed in, and we travel quite a lot. The service was incredibly kind, from reception to the restaurant and bar, and we felt welcomed the whole time. Everyone was so helpful with anything we needed. Also, the bus stops right in front of the hotel and takes you into the city in just 10-15 minutes, which made everything super easy. Can’t recommend it enough! 10/10
I don’t know why this is seen as a 4* hotel. It really isn’t. Our room smelt of drains for hours after we arrived. The room is also very cold. I told the reception about this but they didn’t do anything (I have also seen other people mention this so clearly it’s a thing at this hotel). The staff are adequately helpful but not particularly great. Housekeeping left a bag of towels outside our room and didn’t come in to make the beds (this is an option you can ask for but we did not ask for this). The breakfast buffet is fine but they don’t top up food so often the turines were empty. And the amount of people staying is far too much for the capacity of the buffer which means it’s noisy, packed and difficult to get any food. And the worst part is that our room keys stopped working at 10.50 which means we were locked out of our rooms, couldn’t use the elevator and couldn’t open the safe. The amount you pay for this place is already astronomical but it’s totally unacceptable for the quality.
Booked a standard family room for 1 night 18th Nov for more than 500 EUR because of high demand during a conference in the city. Overall room was clean. The dustbin in the bathroom was not emptied, it had trash from the previous guest. The electric kettle was also visibly dirty with residue built up of coffee in the spout. AC of the room was not effective in keeping the room warm and it was very cold in the night. The hotel managed to give us extra quilt. Breakfast was paid extra and quality and quantity was good. Overall not the value for money paid.
