The Mortuary Temple of Ramesses III: Medinet Habu As one of the most well-preserved monuments on Luxor’s West Bank, this expansive complex serves as the Mortuary Temple of Ramesses III. Visitors enter through the Migdol, a massive stone gateway styled after a Syrian fortress designed to project the Pharaoh's military strength. The Experience Drawing fewer crowds than other sites, Medinet Habu offers a serene environment to explore its colossal halls. It is renowned for its remarkable preservation; looking up, you can still see original, 3,000-year-old pigments (blues, reds, and yellows) on the ceilings. Historical Highlights: Deep-Cut Reliefs: Hieroglyphs were carved exceptionally deep to prevent erasure, creating high-contrast shadows. The Sea Peoples: Outer walls feature crucial reliefs documenting naval victories against ancient invaders. Royal Palace: Includes the archaeological remains of the palace and the "Window of Appearances."
The Colossi of Memnon: Twin Guardians of Luxor Standing prominently along the West Bank road, the Colossi of Memnon are two massive stone statues representing Pharaoh Amenhotep III. These towering, 18-meter-high monuments have stood in this exact spot for over 3,400 years, originally guarding a vast mortuary temple complex that has since vanished. What you will see: Massive Engineering: Each monolithic statue weighs approximately 720 tons, showcasing ancient transport and carving capabilities. Historical Graffiti: Following an ancient earthquake, the northern statue famously "sang" at dawn due to temperature shifts, drawing early Greek and Roman travelers who carved graffiti into the base. This iconic roadside stop offers an excellent introduction to the massive scale of Pharaonic architecture.

We enjoyed the Valley of the Queens more than the Valley of the Kings. The colours are stronger and it was quieter. The Valley of the Queens entry fee is 220 Egyptian pounds and Hatshepsut Temple is 440 Egyptian pounds
Waleed is just the nicest guy and he cared about everything. I contacted him via hus I stagram, because a friend in Luxembourg recommended him. We got picked up at our hotel in Soma Bay, Safaga at 05:45 just as planned and we had a private driver who took us to Luxor (240KM) in about two and a half hours. We met Waleed, our guide, at the entrance of the Karnak temple, he had already bought our tickets and then he showed us round. He had plenty of interesting information and explained all the ancient egyptian gods with their symbols and what they stand for and showed us which kings build the different parts of the temple. After that we visited the vakley of the kings which was very impressive. After that we did the memnon status and then we had lunch. Lunch was included in out price. Although it was a very crowdy place with a lot of tourists, we got a table after 5 minutes and food was delicious. Then we stopped by a local shop where they craft things out of different stones. You can buy something, but they don‘t insist so no worries. I still bought a nice vase out of Alabaster. Very stylish. Ladt but not least we visited the Hatshepsut temple and then we were driven back to our hotel. We were two persons and the price was more than fair. If you wanna visut Luxor, do it with Waleed, you won‘t be dissppointed!
Great visit with Walid, expert and knowledgeable, very good english, took us to great hidden gems, and through an history masterclass
The guide Wallid was always on time, helpfull and had a very good knowledge of the history, facts and places. We tour Luxor , Assuã and Abu Simber and it was wonderful!
Walid arranged everything for me. My guide was Reem & she was excellent explaining everything simply so I could understand and enjoy my time at a nice speed which was perfect for me. Ask for Reem to guide you and you will have a fabulous time. Kind Regards Ken
Absolutely loved our day trip to the valley of kings. Good amount of time spent and felt like we could stay longer or be quicker as we chose. The valley itself is incredible. We really enjoyed the trip. FYI you’ll go to a store to purchase items. Don’t buy anything unless you’re already keen for it! Always cheaper elsewhere. Guide was excellent and overall an fab way to see the valley of kings. Would definitely recommend.
My friend and I had a blast with Waleed. We spent two days with him. He was very knowledgeable about all the places we visited, and he gave great recommendations for the places to see to make the most of our time and also tips for what we can do on our own time, like taking a boat to banana island and going to Luxor Museum. We arrived at the train station in the morning and Waleed was there as soon as I exited the train, holding my name card. He had a driver ready and took us straight to the temples at Karnak, then to Luxor Temple. It was a fascinating time. We learned a lot, and he also gave us time to explore the places on our own and take pictures, and showed us where to take the best photos. After all the sightseeing he brought us to our hotel and helped us get checked in. We made plans for the following day to take a sunrise hot air balloon, which he arranged for us with the balloon company, and to visit the West Bank sites. The balloon company picked us up from our hotel in the morning, and Waleed was ready for us when we finished. After that he took us to a cafe restaurant before going to the Colossi at Memnon, the valley of the kings, and Hatshepsut temple, all of which were amazing. Waleed was very knowledgeable and experienced and taught us a lot about the history and meaning of the places we were visiting and how they were built and answered all our questions. We finished off the tour going to a store selling authentic souvenirs made of different stones and went to a nice buffet restaurant, and dropped us off at our hotel. All in all a very worthwhile and enjoyable experience.
We have done West Bank Luxor guided tour and we are very happy with our tour guide Rania, who has amazing knowledge of Egypt history (she is Egyptologist) and explains everything with a big passion. Actually after all tours we did in Egypt with different tour guides, she is definitely the best! Very recommendable to do guises tour with Rania if your are in Luxor!!
We spent two days with Walid and what an amazing experience. Never have we had such an enthusiastic and informed guide. He was so kind too and even helped us take great photos. We are so lucky to have found Walid and can’t wait to use him again next time we come to Egypt!
I spent several days with guide Walid all over the West and East bank of the Nile in Luxor. I can say hands down the best guided tours of my life. Walid is extremely knowledgable, patient and kind. He is great at being flexible and setting up the tours to ensure his guests have a good experience. Walid went above and beyond making us feel safe, informed and excited to be in Egypt. He really made the trip for us. He became a friend and we really enjoyed his expertise, knowledge and passion for all of the incredible ancient sites. He was very accommodating in how we wanted to spend our time at the various sites. It was also very important to him that we got the best prices. It was a truly incredible experience. I would recommend again and again!
After extensive research of all the tour companies on TripAdvisor, viator and google etc, and reading hundreds of reviews, we are so glad we eventually found Walid for our two-day tour of the sites of the West and East banks of Luxor. From the moment we made direct contact with him via Whatsapp he was quick to respond and provide prices for the two days which were in line with prices from other tour companies, including airport pick up, lunches and all the usual entry fees. We had the two full days of our trip organised in just a few short messages and Walid was even happy to requote for us to pay in EGP when the original price was in dollars. Walid was more than happy to accommodate our specific site wish list and provided a tailor-made trip for each day. He was happy for us to start a bit later than usual each morning but did suggest earlier starts to avoid the heat, which is normal practice. If you are not too tired and like an early start, then I would recommend this so that you can get a couple of sites in before it gets too hot. We were just unlucky with the heat as it had gone up by 5 degrees in the couple of days before we arrived When Walid met us at the airport to take us to our hotel after a long day of travelling, we were made to feel very welcome, and he made sure we were happy with the proposed itinerary for the following two days. His English is very good, and his knowledge of pharaonic history was excellent which made it really easy to understand everything, with full and detailed explanations of everything we saw. We were given plenty of free time to see as much or as little of each site as we wanted. We were taken to the usual tourist restaurants for our lunches and the food at both of them was great and plentiful! Soups, meat stews, flatbreads, aubergine dishes, (wow!) and meat koftas were all really tasty. Drinks were extra which is standard on these tours. We explained that shopping was not a priority for us as we were travelling hand luggage only so had limited space, but we made a couple of stops at papyrus and alabaster shops (with craft demos and welcoming drink), mainly to cool down in the air-conditioned buildings as the heat during our visit was so intense. It was clear that our safety and wellbeing was a high priority and Walid was very good at monitoring us and knowing when we needed to stop and cool down, particularly when my partner was really starting to struggle with the heat. There was no particularly hard sell in the shops, but we bought our small souvenirs anyway. Walid was happy to talk about everything else outside of the ancient history, including politics, modern Egyptian history and 80's/90's music! We would very highly recommend Walid as your guide as he was knowledgeable, welcoming, punctual and adaptable and made the whole trip go smoothly. If we ever go back, we would not hesitate to contact him for all our needs. Many thanks to Walid, and our drivers Romani and Carlos, for a great 2 days.
Loved viewing the queen hatshepsut temple, very beautiful. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of all the sites we attended and detailed in his explanation. Very friendly, helpful and kept us safe in the city.
Book them now! The journey and communication between myself and Rania was excellent and she told me straight away what to expect and an outline of what we can do as well as price. Not only was the pickup excellent but also Waleed helped us with some problems we had with the flight and patiently stayed with us as we were girls travelling alone. We went to the East bank on the first day and second day we went to the West Bank. Throughout this Waleed’s knowledge of Egyptian history ensured we were informed of everything and I would recommend them for this tour above all others. Great English and amazing knowledge of the area as well the relevant people and places around Luxor. Good price and also good knowledge of the area and Luxor so we had a great guide across the board. If you and an easy simple process with a vastly knowledgeable and kind guide, book them now!
This is a top rated tour team, very patient, organized and most of all knowledgeable, we could not have asked for more in a tour guide, highly recommended!
Rania Rauf and her associate Walid are the best guide and agent I ever work with. Highly recommended.
Walid was an amazing tour guide and I really enjoyed the experience. He was at the airport with Samir (my driver) to pick me up and we headed straight to Karnak temple and then to Hatshepsut temple and Valle of the Kings. All this at a fair price. I highly recommend booking your experience
Valley of the Kings only because of its uniqueness What is the side of the burial chamber is supposed to all the beautiful Temple’s I had seen previously that work for Living off life
I can't say enough about our tour guide, Rania, on our trip to the West Bank. She took us through the main attractions, giving us the social, political, and historical background of each location. Rania is passionate about the history of Luxor, and it is made apparent through the stories she recalls. She has a very sophisticated, complex understanding of the history of Luxor, so it created a educational experience for us. More than anything, Rania was accommodating to us along the way. Because we enjoyed our tour of the West Bank, we asked if we could sign up for a tour with Rania through the East Bank the following day. She ensured that all our needs were met, and we were hydrated in the 100+ degree heat. We even got sick in Cairo before coming to Luxor, and Rania offered to take us to the pharmacy to get us some medication for our condition. It is no understatement when I say that we thoroughly enjoyed our tour and will seek Rania's help when we return to Luxor and go to Aswan and Hurgada on our next visit. We would endorse this company without hesitation.
Rania has been the best guide I've had so far in Egypt, an I'd had plenty. She explains everything with passion and great storytelling skills. You get really immersed in the History she presents, and she provides a deep level of understanding of the actual context of the events. She also gives only facts, and information that can be found in written testimony, both on papyrus or walls. She has a clear understanding of what is fact and what is just popular legend. She can also read hieroglyphs very fluently, which gives you an extra level of understanding. All these talents are completed by her beautiful smile, her energy and her charisma. It has been an honour to have had her as our guide and we enjoyed it a lot.
This was a fantastic few days with Rania as our guide. We started our 2 and a half days with a Falucca ride on the Nile at sunset. We then spent two full days doing tours of the west and east bank. We started the day with a hot air balloon ride and then spent a full day at Karnak and Luxor temples, then we spent another full day visiting the valley of the kings, Queen Hatshepsut temple, tomb of the nobles, Habu temple and the status of Memnon, and finished with a beautiful lunch. Highly recommend this trip, great tour group.
Great experience visiting the West Bank with our tour guide Rania, she was very informative and her knowledge of the Egyptian history was fantastic. Would recommend this tour to everyone
