Our guide Hassan was very knowledgeable and driver Alam was wonderful and safe driver. We enjoyed the tour. Only reason I took away one star is for the weather. It is October but heat was unbearable!

The tomb of Ramesses III, designated as KV 11, is a complex system in the Valley of the Kings. It has been known since antiquity, the wonderful decorations include colourful painted sunken reliefs featuring the traditional ritual texts (Litany of Ra, Book of Gates etc) and Ramses before the gods. Unusual here are the secular scenes, in the small side rooms of the entrance corridor, showing foreign tributes, such as highly detailed pottery imported from the Aegean, the royal armoury, boats and, in the last of these side chambers, the blind harpists that gave the tomb one of its alternative names: ‘Tomb of the Harpers’
In Egyptian mythology, Ptah is the demiurge of Memphis, god of craftsmen and architects. In the or simply in its falcon form of the new deity, began to be placed in tombs to accompany and protect the dead on their journey to the West of Luxor .Tomb 8, which is located in the Valley of the Kings, was the burial place of the Pharaoh Merneptah and is the model of royal tombs Merneptah was a son of Ramesses II and Queen Isis-Nofret.the tomb was discovered by Howard Carter in 1903. Of coursethere is a material decrease in the number of lateral rooms, and a dramatic increase in the height of the corridors and rooms. He did away with the jogged axis used since the time of Horemheb and instead built the entire tomb on a single axis. Also, for the first time, the entrance was made considerably wider than earlier tombs .
. Afterwards, you will be taken to see the Colossi of Memnon, the two largest ancient statues in Egypt which date back to the era of King Amenhotep III. He was the father of King Akhenaten and grandfather of King Tut. After touring the sites you will be transferred back to your hotel by an air-conditioned vehicle. After visiting the tombs you will be transported to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut (Deir el Bahari), the only woman ever to reign over Egypt as Pharaoh. Excellent tour, made all the better by our guide Abdul who was incredibly knowledgeable and clearly enthusiastic and passionate about Ancient Egypt.
Abdul was an incredible guide. As an Egyptologist specialising in hieroglyphics, we had a detailed explanation of all of the sites we explored. The itinerary is more “flexible” than advertised but it meant we spent more time at the most interesting and beautiful sites, missing those that were closed such as valley of the queens. The souvenir shop that is part of the trip was not particularly enjoyable but seemingly part and parcel of a tour in Egypt. Overall would recommend!
Great tour and great staff Abdul was our guide and even helped us get flights to Cairo. Would recommend this company for anyone travelling to Luxor
Abdul was the absolute best tour guide - an endless fountain of history, knowledge, and stories about ancient Egypt. He directed us so well within the valley of the kings, explaining which tombs to go to first and why. We were sad when the tour was over. I highly recommend anyone looking for a private tour, we would do this tour 100 more times with Abdul if we could :) thank you so much for an amazing experience Luxor Travels.
We were really satisfied with Abdul’s knowledge, and professional demeanor when guiding us through our visit for the Valley of the Kings and Habu Temple. He made our visit richer with his enthusiasm for Egyptian History, and readily answered all of our questions. He was on time, and attentive to all our needs during the tour. Picked us from our hotel lobby and returned us back, including a ride on a boat to cross to the Nile river’s West Bank and our car rides to the sites. We happily recommend Abdul to anyone visiting Luxor.
Can’t beat Khalid and Ahmed’s attention to detail and comfort for anybody traveling in Luxor! 10/10 for us would recommend to anybody both so friendly and Khalid knowledge of Egyptian history knows no bounds
This tour was a great way to experience much of the great sights of the west Bank. Our tour guide, Khalid, was very knowledgeable and friendly. The tour covers many interesting sights, and our guide provided information about the history and significance of the different tombs and monuments, as well as information about their discovery. I would highly recommend this tour!
This was a fantastic tour of the West Bank. I loved that we took a motorboat across in the morning to save time and beat the crowds. Valley of the Kings was incredible and our guide, Khalid, recommended that we see the tomb of Ramses V/VI as an extra and it was so worth it! Valley of the Queens and the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut were amazing and we got fantastic photos. I definitely recommend this tour!
The tour was amazing! The tour guide is a real Egyptologist guide. He gave us so much information and facts ! I highly recommend this tour.
We had an amazing tour with our guide Hamdy! As two women traveling alone, he made us feel so safe and looked after. He was most knowledgeable and spoke well in English. We often found ourselves completely alone in places, avoiding the crowds for special moments in the tombs or temples. He timed our visits thoughtfully. Highly recommend adding on the sunrise hot air balloon ride (although we were quoted a higher price than offered by our hotel) it was an unreal experience.
This is one of those tour you will remember for a lifetime. Luxor Travels is the company to go with. Not because you have limited options; actually there are lots of other tour companies in Luxor. What makes Luxor Travels different is that they actually send you out with a real Egyptologist like Abdo. So is like going out on a tour with Zahi Hawass; if you know the man. Abdo is actually a student of his! My kids got quite history lesson with him! Communication as perfect with the tour manager (Ragab El Motgalye) via whatsapp +20 122 4689271. The price was on the range of other tours. They picked us up around 8:30 as it was a short drive to the valley from our hotel. Nice van, safe driver (you need one in Egypt. They drive very fast). Abdo made sure to keep my kids engaged; they had a lot of fun. We felt like we went out with an old friend and not just someone that we met that day.
Good day. We went on the full day tour of Valley of the kings. Had an amazing time. Our tour guide Ragab was amazing. Very knowledgeable and helpful.
This tour was fantastic. We had done a fantastic tour and were hoping for the same. We found it. The tour was just us. Our tour guide was Kahid who was a weath of knowledge. The guide can make or break the tour as we had used a diff company for the East Bank the day before. Highly Recommend!
Our family of 4 spent 2 half days with Ragab as our guide and we would highly recommend him and this tour company. He is very knowledgeable about ancient Egypt and all of the sites and history. He made sure everything was efficient and on time without rushing us. He took the time to explain what we would see ahead of time and kept my teenagers engaged from beginning to end. I also appreciated the flexibility to split the tour into 2 half days and how he expertly organised the timing to avoid peak crowds and to ensure we saw Luxor temple at sunset so we could appreciate it both in daylight and lit up in dark. He even bought us lunch before the tour ended and ensured a smooth return to our hotel via boat. He really went above and beyond. Highly recommended.
Khalid was awesome! Very professional and accommodating. Helped us take photos, gave us an overview of Egyptian history, and guided us through the Valley of the Kings. Highly recommend his services. He knows literally everything about Egypt! You will have a great time!
Great tour with Khalid - very knowledgeable and shared great stories about ancient Egypt. He recommended us to swap valley of the queens for the artisan tombs and we were happy we did as this provided a different experience.
We got picked up on time in a nice air conditioned car. Our guide was very knowledgeable about Egypt and the history of the temples and tombs. We had our own time to explore afterwards and take pictures. If we had questions during our exploration, he made sure to answer them. He was very accommodating and stopped when we wanted to stop. I would highly recommend.
Ragab is very kind, friendly, sociable, educated. He told us the whole story of the valley of the kings and Hatshepsut’s temple. He was unobtrusive and also help us to buy local food for lunch to take away (for a little money). It was a wonderful experience.
I had a wonderful time with my guide, Khalid Eltayeb. He has very friendly and upbeat personality. I needed to take this tour in the afternoon for which they accommodated me. To save time we took the ferry to the West Bank of the Nile to meet our driver instead of taking the longer route over the bridge. The tombs, although much smaller, are beautifully decorated. I highly recommend doing this tour.
What a fun and interesting day spent with one of the best tour guides we have ever had. The day started with a pickup from our tour guide, Ragab Elmotgalye. From there we were off to the valley of the nobles and the valley of the artisans. On the drive there we learned a little about Ragab's personal life and enjoyed him bringing us up to speed on the history of how the places we were about to visit had come to be. The background information was very interesting and insightful, and I have come to realize that I will never forget what was thought to me in just the little time spent on the drive to the locations. Once at the location, Ragab did a wonderful job explaining the history behind the hieroglyphics we were looking at, as well as the depictions on the tombs we were visiting. It was there we realized how much this man really cares about the history of Egypt and you can tell it truly excites him. Once done with our tour, one would think that we were just going to be dropped of at our hotel, but instead Ragab was gracious enough to take us to the Medinet Habu (Ramses III Temple) here in Luxor, but not before sharing a cool drink with him. If you have a choice in visiting this temple, I would really recommend it. Every wall is highly detailed with deep carvings of ancient writings. Of course Ragab knew a great deal and was happy to share his knowledge with people who really valued it. Afterwards,Ragab was gracious enough to take us to lunch at a location a mere 5 minutes from his home. For him to do that shows a lot about what kind of man this person is, and my mom and I truly appreciated everything he did for us today. It is safe to say we will never forgot what we learned today or the man from whom we learned it from. If you have a choice in guides for your Luxor vacation, be sure to ask for Ragab. I promise you wont regret it.
The murals are beautiful. Tickets cost 100 angstroms. It's the tomb keeper who's changed his mind to want tips. Not happy to give less. How long will this chicken-killing-and-egg tourism in Egypt last? I'm not coming back anyway.
The valley of the artisans (Deir El Medineh) is not only the place where lived the artisans who dug and decorated the hypogees of the kings and queens but also the place where you can, with a few twists, admire the own graves of some of them. The valley of the nobles contains small treasures dug into the rock by the Theban dignitaries, in particular the carved and painted representations of their daily activities. Reserve enough time as there are 8 graves to discover.
