Private Half-day: Dendera Temple From Luxor

I really enjoyed the Dendera tour! The temple was beautiful and well worth visiting. Majed was a great guide and made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended!

My tour started very precisely on time with a clean, comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle for the smooth drive to Qena with Ziad, my driver. I got a hotel on the West Bank to be closer for the drive to Dendera but the road you have to travel is on the east bank. Only locals can drive up to Qena on the West Bank. So it’s quicker with a hotel on the east side. You can however get a hotel on the West side if you plan to see the Valley of the King tombs at 6am right when they open. Khaled Elsmaky is a qualified Egyptologist and my tour guide who brought the Temple of Hathor to life. He pointed out vital details I would have missed on my own, including the lesser known details about the brilliantly cleaned, colorful ceilings and the famous astrological zodiac. It’s a beautiful temple and one of the best and highest rated in Egypt. It’s worth a visit and rivals Karnak, Seti I, and Ramses V.

Day 2 in Luxor and chose Reflections Travel again for this amazing tour of Dendera Temple! Amazing and Gorgeous blue or Lapiz colors in this temple. Plus loved seeing all the colorful temples rooms and ceilings. So Happy that my guide from yesterday is the same. Definitely request Khaled Elsmaky because he showed me some amazing details and points of interests in the temple!

This was our first visit Egypt and severe very excited to visit the Dendera Temple of Hathor. Our amazing guide, Asmaa, wax very knowledgeable, kind and made sure we had the best experience, I will definitely request to work with Asmaa again, when I visit Luxor. We loved the Dendera Temple trip and our ships experience in Luxor! I highly recommend this excursion.

This is one of the most amazing tours we have ever done! Khaled elsmaky is the best guide that taught us everything about Luxor and Dendera Temple. His English is perfect and we understood everything he told us throughout the trip. He picked us up on time in a comfortable car, bought us drinks, gave us time to see everything and pointed out all the highlights of the temple. It is also the most beautiful and complete temple we saw in Egypt! An absolute must see! This tour was 5 stars in every way!

One of the best temples in the area, as it is covered and has more color intact than others. Just over an hour to get there . Knowledgeable guide.

Nelly was my tour guide and she was great. The tour is pretty quick because it's only one stop so if you schedule this in the morning you can be back in Luxor by lunch. The car was nice and clean and the driver drove safely.

Our trip to Dandera Temple was unforgettable largely thanks to our guide Khaled Elsmany. Not only he knew the history inside and out, but he also made the entire experience stress free. His warm personality and sense of humor made our trip a total joy.

Poor organisation. Our driver turned up who spoke little english. He tried to reach out to us on whatsapp but the translation program that he was obviously was so terroble we understood nothing of what he said. Took us awhile for us to find him when he arrived to Luxor port. We eventually had to use live location share on whatsapp. It was also obvious it was his forst time driving to Dendera as he had to stop and ask for directions several times along the way. When we got the Dendera we waited for a bit before a guy turned up who we assumed was the guide but also dodn't have good english. However by the time we got it, our party went to use the bathroom, went back outside the presumed guide had disappeared. Tried to message the driver. No luck as he didn't understand us. Tried calling the number on the booking no answer- this was a mid morning workday. So we went unguided for the tour. As we were exiting we saw the presumed guide with another group. Driver was trying his best thats the only reason for 2 stars instead of 1. Our experience didn't align with the expectations we had after reading other reviews before booking.

Right from the start of our tour, we could tell we were in great hands with Barry and his company. He struck the perfect balance of being friendly, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable. The way he explained the history behind the temples made everything feel more meaningful—he shared stories and context we’d never heard before, and he made it all easy to connect with. There were no stops at places trying to sell anything. Barry was focused on giving us exactly what we came for - and that made the whole trip really amazing for us. We’d recommend this tour without hesitation.

Our trip to Dendera was wonderful. The driver and guide were from Reflection Travel. Our guide Barry was amazing, definitely the best guide we had on our whole Egypt trip. Very knowledgeable, personable, and fun to be around. The drive to Dendera from Luxor takes about 1 hour 20 minutes through beautiful desert landscapes.

I can't say enough good things about this tour that we had done with Barry and his company. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and was very humorous. He gave us really great insight into the history behind the temples and provided us with context that was relatable to us and provided us with information that was very unique that we didn't know before. What we liked most about this tour was the access that we had to these great temples and from what we could see Barry has a great relationship with each one of them that allowed us to quickly move through crowds of tourists. Also, considering that this is not one of the cheapest trips that you can do, we got a ton of value from knowing that we weren't being ripped off by being taken to places that were out to make a buck off of us. Barry has a strong ethical position on providing us with what we came here to see and nothing more than that - Which I have encountered in the past with other tour operators. I would highly recommend this company and especially Barry as a tour guide to anyone that is looking to experience Luxor and its wonderful temples.

My guide Barry was excellent company and has a jovial sense of humour. He is an expert and has a wealth of information about the history of the site. Ahmed our driver was good too and the car was new and comfortable with AC. This was my favourite trip (and there were no extra stop offs for shopping for things ie papyrus which no one asked for...) Dendera is about an hour's drive from Luxor so I guess more off the beaten track, but I would definitely recommend it if you're staying in Luxor area.

The service of our guide Khaled was excellent, the transportation was very comfortable especially with air conditioning, attentive at all times to what we required as well as very complete information about the tour.

We had a wonderful experience driving 1.5 hrs from Luxor to dendera. It was a beautiful temple and Mohsen, our guide, was super knowledgeable about the site and all the stories that it told.

It was basic the driver and a car. The “guide” was nice man, yet he didn’t know anything about the site, nor history. In this case it would be enough to have a driver and a car.

Amazing trip with Mohsen today. He’s knowledgeable and kind ways to help us understand such and amazing place are just what every tour guide needs. He was able to open our eyes into the past and to teach us so much of the history of such a a unique and ancient temple.

I fully enjoyed the trip. Beautiful temple and very rich history. My guide Mossy is very knowledgeable. He explained the details of the temple and I learned a lot. Whenever I had questions, Mossy answered them with great enthusiasm. After the guided tour, I have enough free time to explore the temple myself. Our driver Taha is very friendly and professional. We visited Dendera Temple the next day, after Luxor's trip, and it was the best suggestion we could’ve received—it’s one of the most mysterious and fascinating places in Egypt. I can’t even describe how excited I was to explore it, and the beauty we found there completely blew me away. All the temples in Luxor are incredible, but Dendera has something truly unique. Maybe it’s the vivid colors, the beautifully preserved hieroglyphics, the stories carved into every wall, or the peaceful atmosphere. Whatever it is, once you see it for yourself, it will stay in your heart forever. Once again, Mohsen was the perfect guide. His passion and deep knowledge helped us connect with the spirit of this magical place and understand its history in such an engaging way. This visit was absolutely worth it—10/10! P.s= the catacombs, a must!

Dendera is one of the most beautiful temples. I am so glad that I decided to make the trip from Luxor, it was my favourite of all. It has a lovely energy around there and was such a pleasure to see it. Our guide and driver were both excellent. The guide provided lots of information and took lots of photos and videos of us walking around which were great. Highly recommend this trip.

This temple has so many secrets which were unraveled and explained to me by my guide Mekhaiel Fared. He was very professional and always kind and helpful, so much knowledge. I would definitely recommend this trip.

Dendera Temple is about 2 hours away from Luxor, but it is worth to visit. It is well preserved, and the reliefs remain beautifully. Our guide Abdo and our driver Mohammad were wonderful. The guide was knowledgeable and always took our safety into consideration. He also helped elderly tourists who were in trouble. The driver had a good sense of timing, knowing when to drive fast and when to drive carefully. Unfortunately, there was no electricity in the toilets, so we had to use the light from our cell phones. デンデラ寺院はルクソールから来るまで2時間位かかるところにあるが、行く価値のある寺院である。保存状態もよく、レリーフも綺麗に残っている。私たちのガイドのアドブと運転手のモハマドは素晴らしかった。ガイドは、知識があり、私達の安全にいつも配慮していた。また、困っている老人観光客のヘルプもした。運転手はスピードを出す時と、丁寧に運転する時のメリハリがよい。 トイレに電気がなく携帯のライトを使わなくてはいけないのがざんねんだった。

Our tour guide was Hany Yassen and our drive was driver Mustafa. The driver waS the best we had in eygpt, very smooth driving and polite. Hany was very good. I took this half-day tour for Dendera with Hany as the guide and Mustafa as the driver. Both of them were super nice! I arrived Luxor in the very later evening before the tour and Hany arranged me the airport pick-up. For a person who had never been in Egypt before, this arrangement really relieved me a lot. The tour itself is also highly recommended! Dendera is no doubt one of the beautiful temple in Egypt. Hany guided this tour in a very professional way and shared with me a lot history and knowledge about this temple! I felt very lucky to have Hany as my guide and I did enjoy a lot this tour. Great half a day visiting the temple of Denderah (Hathor) from Luxor. Our guide and driver were friendly and efficient. Our guide was relaxed, calm and a real book about Egyptien history . He asked us if we wanted a lght/ medium or heavy explanation of the temple and the history so he adapts to the customers. The whole trip was 5 hours: about 2,5 hours round trip from Luxor to Denderah and 2,5 hours in the temple. The tour with our guide was roughly 1h-1h15 and then we had free tiùe for rouhgly 1 hour as well so great managmeent of time. The temple is really different from the others in Luxor with blue ceiling and representation of the zodiac. The temple is not so much visited so not a big crowd which was perfect for pictures and peacefulness. I fully recommend this visit which is worth it.

Just visited Dendera Temple with Abdo with Reflections Travel. My friends had a wonderful time and the tour blew our expectations away. Abdo was a wonderful guide who engaged us with storytelling and pointing out highlights and not to miss details. Dendera turned out to be my favorite temple visited and although the temple and its grounds are beautiful, Abdo made it an even more enjoyable experience. He also gave us plenty of free time to wander and take photos and he never made us feel rushed. I’d definitely recommend going with Abdo if you’re in need of a guide. And if you’re on the fence about Dendera, hop on over because it’s absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous!

We had a wonderful time with Hany and our driver today. Hany was very knowledgeable and kind. He took his time and arranged everything. They stopped a few times to let us try falafel, sugar cane juice and even show us what some of the crops that grow in the region. He was also great with our 9 yr old son.

My wife, adult daughter and I had the perfect half-day at Dendera with Reflections Travel. Our driver Ahmed was very friendly and our guide Barry was very knowledgeable and made the whole experience great. I highly recommend including this tour as part of your trip. The Temple is amazing, full of color and beautiful. Nice to be able to move around with just us and our guide. We had 20 minutes at the end to look around and take photos without the guide as well, which is nice. We were picked up from our hotel in Luxor at 9am and arrived around 10:30am. it felt like we had the Temple to ourselves at times. Left around 12:30pm and back to hotel around 2pm. I’m so glad we made room for this in our schedule. A highlight of our trip to Egypt!

We had a wonderful trip to Dendera with MOSHEN our guide, and TEHA our careful driver. Once again MOSHEN showed us his professional knowledge based on his scholarship and passion. The Temple still presents a strong picture of how it looked many thousands of years ago. Many of the original carvings and colors are still vibrant. MOSHEN’s explanation added to our understanding. The ride was comfortable, pickup on time, and luckily traffic was minimal. This is how tourism should be. Very happy with Reflections Travel for having a skilled employee like MOSHEN.

We had an amazing experience in Dendera. We highly recommend to visit that place to see the uniqueness of the Egyptian history. The guided tour made our trip exclusive. Hathor Temple is beautiful. Definitely worth seeing. Takes about 75 minutes from Luxor but the drive through the countryside is nice, you’ll see lots of nice rustic villages and farms. Trip logistics were good and both tour guide and driver were great.

Having free time after our hot air balloon experience, we decided to go to Dendera temple from Luxor. This was upon the recommendation of our guide from the day before, Mohsen (who could easily claim ancestry from rhe line of Pharaoh Akenathon) who said that this temple dedicated to the goddess Hathor cannot be missed. How right he was. The well preserved interior perfectly gave us an idea of the level of expertise, craftsmanship and skill of the temple builders. But more importantly, we got to find and understand the significant portions of the images and hieroglyphs carved onto the walls through the expert knowledge and story telling skill of Mohsen. While the sight itself is beautiful, it has been grestly enhanced by our guide Mohsen who gave meaning to everything we see around the place. I also appreciated how engaging he is about modern Egyptian life as much as he is about the ancient one. His patience in answering my questions about culture, family and spirituality are truly insightful and shows his great skill as a guide and companion around Luxor and it’s sights.

However, we could only stay roughly one hour and ten minutes! This included thirty minutes of explanation and thirty minutes of free time, because instead of the one-hour drive from Luxor to the temple, it took us two hours to get there. Khaled then rushed us to visit the temple in just one hour, claiming that traffic was a bit heavy and we needed to return to Luxor on time. I mean, paying for a private tour to spend three hours at this amazing once-in-a-lifetime temple and being rushed to see it in only one hour was one of the worst experiences we had in Egypt. We were running around to take photos and videos, and unfortunately, we regretted booking this tour with this agency too late. That said, we did book another tour with the same agency yesterday, and it was an amazing experience with our guide, Mohsen. It's really disappointing that your experience depends so heavily on the guide, as the agency seems to lack quality standards to ensure customer satisfaction for first-time visitors to Egypt. I strongly recommend booking with a private taxi or a different company. Don't let your visit to this magnificent temple be ruined!
