About Activity
After breakfast, you will be met by your Egyptologist guide to begin a full-day exploration of the West and East Banks of Luxor. Start on the West Bank, historically known as the “City of the Dead,” home to some of Egypt’s most remarkable archaeological treasures. Visit the legendary Valley of the Kings, where pharaohs of the New Kingdom were buried in richly decorated tombs. Your visit includes entry to three tombs, with the option to upgrade for special tombs such as Tutankhamun or Ramses VI. Continue to the magnificent Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, an architectural masterpiece built for Queen Hatshepsut, one of ancient Egypt’s most powerful female pharaohs, and known for its elegant terraces carved into the cliffs. Stop at the iconic Colossi of Memnon, two massive stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that have guarded the Theban necropolis for over 3,000 years.
Cross to the East Bank to explore the vast Karnak Temple Complex, one of the largest religious sites ever built, dedicated to the Theban triad of Amun, Mut, and Khonsu. Highlights include the impressive Hypostyle Hall and its forest of giant papyrus-shaped columns. Continue a short drive to the elegant Luxor Temple, a beautifully illuminated temple complex that reflects centuries of ancient Egyptian history and religious life. At the end of the tour, enjoy optional time for shopping or leisure before being transferred back to your hotel or Nile cruise in Luxor.
