We had an absolutely wonderful time on our Luxor Private Full Day Tour of the East and West Banks. Big thanks to our guide George and our driver Mamdouh for making it so special. George did not just throw boring dates at us, but instead, he shared so many interesting facts and stories about all the key historical places. He is very kind and deeply passionate about Egyptian tourism. He answered all our questions. A very fun part was when we visited the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut. To help us remember and pronounce the tricky name correctly, he jokingly called it "Hot Chicken Soup" we will never forget this. Every time he greeted us, he warmly called us "Hello Family," which was such a sweet and heartwarming touch. George went above and beyond when we visited the magnificent Valley of the Kings. Since guides are not allowed to enter inside the actual tombs, he gave us a superb briefing outside about the ancient burial secrets. Then, he kindly carried our heavy bags so we could walk inside the tombs comfortably and see the beautiful, colorful wall paintings without any hassle. This shows his caring nature. Our driver Mamdouh was also excellent. He drove very carefully through the traffic and was always extremely polite. He paid attention to the smallest details. At one point, the moment my wife sneezed, he was so quick to offer a tissue paper box! It is a small gesture, but it truly speaks volumes about his exceptional hospitality. If you are visiting Luxor, we highly recommend booking George and Mehmoodi. They are an amazing team.

Itinerary
Step into the heart of ancient Egypt’s royal burial ground at the Valley of the Kings, where over 64 tombs were carved deep into the desert cliffs for the pharaohs of the New Kingdom. Walk through tombs adorned with intricate hieroglyphics and colorful murals that vividly depict the pharaohs’ journey to the afterlife. Your guide will highlight some of the most impressive tombs open to the public, such as those of Ramses IV, Merenptah, or Thutmose III. (Optional: Entry to King Tutankhamun’s tomb is available at an additional charge.
Marvel at the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, one of Egypt’s most architecturally striking temples. Built into the limestone cliffs at Deir el-Bahari, this multi-level temple honors Egypt’s most successful female pharaoh. Learn about Hatshepsut’s reign, her bold trade expeditions to Punt, and her unique approach to kingship. The temple’s elegant design, terraces, and vivid reliefs make it a must-see.
Pause for photos at the Colossi of Memnon, two massive statues standing nearly 18 meters high. These towering figures once guarded the entrance to the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III, now long vanished. Despite centuries of exposure, they remain iconic symbols of ancient Thebes and provide a fascinating glimpse into the scale of royal architecture.
Explore the awe-inspiring Temple of Karnak, one of the largest religious sites in the world. This vast complex was built and expanded over 2,000 years by successive pharaohs. Stroll through the towering Hypostyle Hall, with its 134 massive columns, and see highlights like the Sacred Lake, Obelisks of Hatshepsut and Thutmose I, and the Temple of Amun-Ra. Your guide will explain how Karnak served as a major spiritual and political center in ancient Egypt.
End your day with a visit to the elegant Luxor Temple, a beautifully preserved site in the heart of the modern city. Unlike Karnak, Luxor Temple was primarily dedicated to the rejuvenation of kingship. Built by Amenhotep III and expanded by Ramses II, it features imposing statues, detailed carvings, and remnants of its Greco-Roman past, including a chapel built by Alexander the Great. It’s especially stunning in the late afternoon or evening when the lighting brings its carvings to life.

It was a really nice experience with Mo. He was really kind and showed us a lot during the tour.
Mo is the best guide ever , thank you so much
AMAZING EXPERIENCE was so helpful and showed so many good tourists sites. Overall a very easy and stress free day. Would definitely do again.
Very good experience. The guide show a lot of knowledge about egiptology and pharoes. Good guide!
We arrived with minimal knowledge but left with much information thanks to our tour guide Mo who answered all questions and was efficient throughout our visit . Thank you!
Mo was amazing, very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend 👌
Excellent experience. Mo the tour guide was great 👍
"I just had the best day on the East & West tour with Wendy Holidays! Everything was so well-organized from start to finish. Our guide, Mo, was honestly the highlight of the trip—he’s so knowledgeable, friendly, and has a great sense of humor that kept us all smiling. The lunch was also fantastic; super fresh and delicious, which was exactly what we needed. If you're looking for a stress-free and fun way to see the sights, I highly recommend this tour. Big thanks to Mo for making it such a memorable day! ✨🙌"
I’m leaving this review to give future travelers a clear picture of my experience. I waited several days before writing this to ensure I could be fair and objective. While the sites themselves were outstanding, the tour experience with Mo and Wendy Travel was terrible. I’ve booked many tours with Viator, including two others in Egypt- so while some problems are just to be expected (e.g., upsell requests), our guide Mo took it to whole new level. FIRST THE GOOD: THE SITES WERE EXCELLENT! -The Valley of the Kings: Only a limited number of tombs are open at any time, and this tour includes entry to three. Mo recommended Ramses III, Merenptah, and Ramses IX, and all were worthwhile. -Karnak and Luxor Temples: These were the highlight of the day—truly remarkable and well worth visiting. The 34-column Great Hall at Karnak was astounding and second only to the Pyramids at Giza! -Temple of Hatshepsut: Hard to evaluate because of the issues described below. ISSUES WITH THE COMPANY AND GUIDE: Several problems led me to write this review so future travelers can be aware. -Request to rebook privately: After booking through Viator, Wendy Travel asked me to cancel and rebook directly with them. I declined, but it was an early warning sign. -Constant upselling and unclear communication: Within minutes of meeting us, Mo began recommending additional tombs without explaining that the tour already included three entries. Later, he insisted lunch was not included, despite the tour being titled “East and West Bank of Luxor with Lunch.” I had selected the option that appeared to include lunch, but he maintained otherwise. -THE BIGGEST ISSUE: OUR GUIDE (MO) STONEWALLED US: The biggest issue was that Mo simply did not guide the tour in any meaningful way. At almost every stop, the pattern was the same: a short introduction, then we were sent off on our own with no context, no explanations, and no help understanding what we were looking at. For example: ---Valley of the Kings: Guides can’t enter the tombs, but they can explain the history, the symbolism, and the differences between tombs at the plaques outside. Many guides were doing exactly that. Mo, however, stayed at the entrance to the entire complex and waited for us to return an hour later. ("Bring me your questions" he said). We walked into each tomb with no background on the king, the artwork, or what made that tomb unique. ---Temple of Hatshepsut: Guides are allowed on the terraces here, and most were actively walking their groups through the site. Mo gave us a quick five minute overview at the entrance, then sat down and told us to “go explore.” Without any explanation of what we were seeing, I ended up drifting toward other groups just to get basic information. It was frustrating to rely on other guides to understand the site when we had paid for one of our own. ---Colossi of Memnon: This was reduced to a drive by. We had to ask Mo to stop for a quick picture, but he stayed in the car and offered no explanation at all. Other guides were out with their groups describing the history and significance; we got none of that. ---Karnak and Luxor: These were the best sites of the day, but even here the guiding was limited. Mo spoke with us briefly at the start of each temple, then sent us off again to wander alone. I repeatedly found myself standing near other groups just to hear the kind of information I expected from my own guide—basic orientation, key highlights, and the meaning behind what we were looking at. What made this more noticeable was that the guiding seemed to drop off even further after we declined the extra purchases he pushed early in the day. Once we made it clear we weren’t interested in add ons, the level of engagement felt noticeably reduced. One person in our group became so frustrated by the lack of guiding that they left the tour entirely. Repeated pressure for a 5 star review: Near the end of the day, Mo asked me six or seven times to write a 5 star review, include his name in the title, and send him a screenshot. This was uncomfortable as he kept asking while we were stuck in the car with him, even when I made it clear I didn’t want to. No wonder there are so many reviews mentioning Mo! This was ridiculous treatment- we pay the guide, yet he demanded we send him a screenshot providing our review? OVERALL The sites themselves were incredible, but the guiding and overall service was not just poor, it was near non-existent, Due to the combination of upselling, limited actual guiding, and persistent pressure for a perfect review made this a bad experience- I would not book with Wendy Travel or Mo again. If the guide/company takes time to respond with their perspective, I’m not sure how they could justify why the guide repeatedly sat at the entrance and literally told us “bring me back what questions you have”. Why did we even pay for a guide?

Excellent day with Monroe an expansive tour. Hard to follow up the balloon ride act, but Mo did his best to make sure we got where we needed, keep us on track, and help us spend time where we needed. We saw all the highlights which were great, the booking was a little complicated understating details, but very favorable trip!

It was our very first visit to Egypt and we found Mano’s page are digging around a lot on trip advisor. We wanted a private tour guide who knows all the ins and outs, keep us away from the crowds, treat us to very good food and make sure that we were safe. We visited all of the valleys with the highlight being King Tut. Mano also provided a special service to take us directly back to the airport. I will 10/10 recommend him to anyone who’s first time it is is you are visiting Luxor. Mano also offered us many other options to see and which we took. One being a very memorable private cruise on the Nile! He’s a very good, kind person and I can only say good things about him. Actually we still keep connected to today! He has alot of ambition and we wish him the best with his business!
Our trip with guide Mo Haggar, a qualified Egyptoligist, was excellent. He imparted his knowlwdge of history covering several eras of Egyptian kings and queens with clarity and humour, which made for interesting and enjoyable day trips to the various temples and sights. I would thouroughly recommend a tour with Mo as guide, and will plan to return in the future to explore more of Egypts ancient past.
Mo organised a great day out for us. I liked Luxor the best. It was really interesting, I learnt a lot and it was good fun too. Mo is a great guide
A first-class experience, wonderful, incredible, and majestic. The service in general, the staff, and especially the guide, Mahmoud, with his vast knowledge of Egyptian history and culture, was dedicated, attentive, and very helpful. He was always attentive throughout the tour. If you ask me, would I do it again? Of course, I would. I give them a 10 out of 10.
Thank you so much to our amazing guide Mo Haggag. He made the day stress free and we didn't have to worry about a thing. His warmth and knowlege about Egypt made this wonderful excursion so special. We were two couples and a teen. His humour and demeanour was professional and passionate but good fun too. He is an Egyptologist second to none. I would go so far as to say he turned a wonderful tour into a magical tour - Karnak temple was amazing and the Valley of the Kings in particular was the stuff of dreams and movies. Thanks so much Mo. Hope we can come back soon
