Hot Air Balloon Ride In Luxor

Just do it, it was really nice and one of the best experience in luxor. The tour started at 5:00 am and finished at around 7:30 am

The actual hot air balloon ride was incredible, but unfortunately the experience leading up to it was much more poorly organized than we expected. When booking, we were able to select a 6:30 a.m. pickup time, which worked well with our schedule. A few days before the tour, the operator requested our hotel name, room number and passport information. I provided everything promptly and sent our room number as soon as I had it. I also specifically asked what time we could expect to return to our hotel and was told 8:00 or 8:30 a.m. The night before the tour, I messaged the operator again with our room number (because they asked me to send it to them again) and said we were looking forward to seeing them at 6:30 a.m. I was then told that our pickup would actually be at 5:20 a.m. because we were being given a complimentary upgrade to a SUNRISE flight. We were surprised by the significant time change, but adjusted our plans and made it work. Unfortunately, the pickup was late anyway. Then, once we arrived at the balloon site, we were kept inside the van for 1 hour because our tour guide “needed to obtain a flight permit”. When we were finally allowed out, our group was standing on a gravel road where vehicles were continuously driving in and out while other tour groups were waiting in the open field. We were repeatedly told that we were waiting for a permit to fly, so everyone patiently waited. The sunrise that morning was at 6:43 a.m. At exactly 7:00 a.m., the balloon crews suddenly began rapidly inflating more than 20 balloons, and groups of excited passengers started boarding. At that point, it became obvious to us that despite being told we had been upgraded to a “sunrise flight”, we were definitely not going to be part of the first set of flights. Our balloon did not take off until 8:00 a.m. This was the biggest issue with the tour: the lack of communication. Nobody clearly explained to us what was happening or gave us a realistic expectation of when we would fly. The guides seemed just as confused as the guests, and several people in our group were understandably becoming frustrated. There was also nowhere to sit other than the dirt, no water, and no coffee or tea despite these being advertised as part of the tour. It was very dusty while the fans inflated the balloons, making it dry on the throat. I felt particularly bad for some guests with mobility issues who had no proper place to sit while waiting. If we had simply been told upfront, “your flight will likely be around 8:00 a.m.; please expect a long wait,” we could have prepared accordingly and brought water. Instead, we were expecting a sunrise flight and ended up waiting more than two hours after the original expected timing. The 35-minute balloon flight itself was fantastic. Our pilot was professional, calm and clearly experienced. The balloon was rotated throughout the flight so everyone had excellent views, and we got some incredible photos. Seeing Luxor from the air was genuinely a memorable experience. I would recommend visiting some of Luxor’s major sites beforehand if possible, because being able to recognize the temples and landmarks from the air makes the flight even more impressive. The crew who packed up the balloons afterward were also incredibly efficient and impressive to watch. They worked extremely quickly. Our return to the hotel was another long process with multiple stops, and we ultimately arrived back at 9:25 a.m., considerably later than the 8:00–8:30 a.m. return time we had originally been given. While in Luxor, we did several tours during our trip and had fantastic experiences with them. Unfortunately, this was the one that fell short—not because of the balloon flight itself, but because of poor communication, unrealistic expectations and disorganization. I would strongly encourage this company to improve communication with guests. If there are delays or if guests are not going to be on the first sunrise flight, simply telling them that would make a huge difference. Also, please don’t advertise coffee/tea and a flight certificate if those items are not actually going to be provided. The balloon flight itself was absolutely worth doing. The pilot and balloon crew were excellent. Just be prepared for a potentially long wait, bring some water, and don’t assume that a “sunrise flight” means you will actually be flying at sunrise.

We were looking forward to the Hot air balloon ride on Sept 4, 2026 however we were notified the day before that the Egyptian Aviation Authority had restricted all flights for Sept 4 due to weather conditions. Needless to say we were disappointed. Nice Tours said I could reschedule or submit the refund request. As we were leaving Luxor the next day, I submitted a refund. I had my doubts if I would ever receive my refund. I was thoroughly impressed with their support through the refund request and professionalism. They provided detailed instructions on how to submit the request, even the content for the message. I was pleasantly surprised when I received my refund. Thanks Nice Tours for the quick turnaround. I will certainly recommend Nice Tours and would use them again.

I booked a hot air balloon flight in Luxor, expecting a well-organised experience. Instead, the operator cancelled due to internal issues, not weather. Other balloons were flying that day. That evening I was first told it was due to bad weather and was offered alternative dates, September 13th or 14th, which was impossible because we already had other activities booked and paid. What followed was extremely disappointing. Instead of simply cancelling and refunding, I spent more than three hours of my holiday being passed from one party to another with no real help. We had just come back from an exhausting trip to Cairo and had barely slept. Rather than enjoying our holiday, I was stuck translating messages, writing emails, and chasing a solution. It was not about the money anymore (more then 106€), but about the wasted time, stress and loss of a precious holiday day. Fortunately, once I finally managed to reach Viator by email, they handled it immediately and resolved the issue very quickly. My advice to other travellers: be very cautious when booking with this “Nice Tours!” !!! If this is an important part of your trip, a last-minute cancellation like this can throw everything off. I was extremely disappointed with the organisation and communication. I cannot recommend it.

Excellent English speaking tour guide named Hassan Esnawi who picked us up from our hotel and took us on a customised tour of the Tombs of valleys of the kings in Luxor. I appreciated how clear he was when speaking and his knowledge. We were tired and he also arranged for us to rest. 5 star!

"Do not trust this operator. We specifically booked a sunrise flight and confirmed multiple times via message that we would be in the air for sunrise. When we questioned the late pickup time, the operator lied to us, promising a 'private car' that would get us to the site in 10 minutes to ensure we made the first flight. Instead, a shared van arrived late and we spent 50 minutes driving around Luxor picking up other passengers. We were still sitting in the van on the road when the sun rose. We missed the entire reason we booked this tour. The operator knew a 6:10 AM shared pickup would miss the sunrise, but lied about a private transfer just to keep our booking. This wasn't an accident; it was dishonesty. The operator knew we would miss it but lied about the transport method to secure the booking. I enquired several times about a refund and never heard back. Highly unethical business practices

Great experience with flying the hot airballoon. Our pilot was a very experienced one with interesting facts of the sights. Best to note if you have fear of flying to consider the participation.

Anyone who wish to book the hot air balloon ride with Nice Tours should be aware that this is AFTER SUNRISE hot air balloon ride. I initially paid for ~$40usd via tripadvisor. The night before tour starts, the operator contacted me that Egypt authority canceled all rides next day due to weather. When i asked for more, they told me that before sunrise tour is not canceled and requested me to pay additional $30usd to upgrade to that time slot. For this last minute change, I was not able to get other tours anymore and forced to go with them with additional $30usd. During the morning itself, they did not gave me before sunrise tour as mentioned, but instead our balloon only went up AFTER sunrise. The hot air balloon ride was great and we enjoyed the scenery. But the dishonesty from this tour operator is unacceptable. Be prepared to pay extra and have late departure of balloon ride if you want to book with this operator.

Very good guide. Hamdy knows what he is talking about, he gives you plenty information, about everything you want to know. Ahmed our driver drives very safe, It is excursion you have to do.

We start the day by the Balloons, it’s was magical. Then we visited the tombs, Mahmoud’s explanations was very complete, and we were able to see how the artists works. Finally we make it to the Temple of hatchepsout, with an amazing panorama. Thank you for everything, we spend two amazing days that we’ll be never forgotten.

Incredible, everything was perfect! They picked me up on time, we saw the sunrise in the air, and we flew for more than 50 minutes. Everything went great. I was scared because I was alone, but everyone was always attentive.

They picked us up at 5:30 and we arrived at the location after 10minutes. We waited a whole hour to ride the balloon. Lack of management, lack of guidance, total waste of time. There were alot of hot air balloons and also a lot of poeple. Everyone went up and eventually our group was the last to go up. Then what is the point of arriving early at 5:40? We did not even go above the king's valley as written in our agenda, just stayed in one place in the sky and went back down. Also the guide kept disappearing so it was hard for us to ask when we were going to ride.

We had an amazing trip with Bola to Luxor Valley of Kings, Balloon Ride and everything Luxor has to offer. He is a great guide, waited for us at all the places we wanted to take pictures, paid attention and answered all our questions. Definitely recommend!

In an early Mid April morning, we four seniors joined other 24 people exploring Hot Air Balloon Ride. Our tour guide picked us up 4:15AM to go Hot Air Balloon Field. About 5: 30AM crew member leaded us practicing landing movements. We 28 people are divided into 4,4,3,3 subgroups and standing in four compartments. Captain alone is standing in the central partition that equipped instruments such as height, temperature, wind speed measurements and clock. The total time in the air is about 35 minutes. We were very excited looking down beautiful scenery. We then safely landed another open field and everyone received a certificate. .

The most exhilarating experience! It was an early morning ride, so we had to really go early. Then a boat ride to the plains where the air balloons were all prostate waiting to be filed up. As we reached the place, many balloons were getting fired up. There were steps to get in. We were out in groups with weight being a consideration. Luckily for us we were right next to the Pilot balloonist! He took us up to a height of 1 km to be able to see The Valley of the Kings, Queen Hatshetsup's mortuary temple, Karnak temple etc. What was also starkly seen was the dessert on one side where the monuments were and the green belt with sugarcane fields etc on the other side of the river Nile! It was beautiful, and I feel that everyone should do it. Out of this world!!

A 1/2 mille high and 3 milles distance ride. Nice views. Safety. After 3 days waiting for a right wind, everything was perfect. A huge team, professional, coordinate and confidence behind each move as Napa, Teotihuacan ... A + 5 years captain with services in anothers countries is a plus. Thanks to the huge team of supervisors, security, transporters, suppliers, walkie talker, basquet inspectors, release flight, area supervisor... to many releases and firms back and forth but 100 % professional. A protocole by a book.

We believe the details of this experience changed after we had booked. Overall it was good if you had the right expectations going into it. Unfortunately many things we were looking forward to weren't part of the experience anymore after these changes but it was a good activity.

Such a wonderful experience in Luxor with our fantastic tour guide, Remon. I would like to come back to Luxor for the tour.

Communication was great before the trip. I loved the trip itself, and the view was amazing. The pilot landed us back at the same hot air balloon airport where we took off. This was amazing! Floating so high above the land was a serene yet thrilling, calming yet energetic, stilling yet moving. Truly amazing

They picked us up at 4:15am and two and a half hours later we were still on the ground. We were the first ones to arrive and around the last to go on the balloon and when we asked the guide how much longer it would take, he said "you need to give me money" (knowing that everything was paid for in advance). Absolutely nothing "private" about the experience. We shared the ride to the ballons place with 4-6 other people and the actual ballon ride with around 20 people. At the end of the trip, they didn't even have a car to take us back to the hotel. We had to walk for 10 minutes until the guide found a taxi to take us back. You do get great views from all historial sites in the West Bank. I would advice not to bring profesional cameras, as they asked us to put them away because "there were military locations nearby" (even though everyone would take pictures with their phones). They do offer you to leave your stuff at the vans, but keeping in mind how awful the general logistics are, it's better not to bring anything with you.

We were picked up at out hotel at 4:15 am, even though the reservation said private transportation it wasn't and the car was too small for the amount of people we had to share with. We then went to the boats to cross the Nile river, we were the first people to arrive and they made us wait more than two hours from when we arrived until we got in the balloon. Our names weren't in any of the lists and one guy was asking to re-pay for everything. It was only when we started complaining that they took us to a balloon and let us get in. Luckily we managed to take off right before sunrise but the people they were grouping us with at first had to wait until after sunrise to get in the basket and up in the air. By the end of the experience there wasn't a transportation arranged and we had to take a taxi back to the hotel. Sunrise in the balloon was beautiful but the logistics of the whole thing were such a mess. Wouldn't recommend this company.

Beautiful morning hot air balloon ride. Amazing views of Hatshepsut and other temples being excavated. The staff and organizer sooo sooo friendly! We had boat ride after balloon ride across Nile the breakfast on a riverboat with fabulous entertainment while having cappuccino. These people are always happy to make sure you are happy! Lovely experience.

It was a gentle ride, corn field landing, and good dance show afterwards. Breakfast was light and we needed to buy drinks but food was included.
