Unbelievable experience! Every part of this was awesome. Our guide was very knowledgeable, passionate and talented. Lots of different activities to do and to observe
I really wanted to take a cooking class with an authentic experience and this class checked those boxes and more. It was just me and another solo traveler and we had the most wholesome time. We got to go to the market, partake in a Laos traditional ceremony, weave a coaster, cook in their amazing outdoor kitchen with a beautiful view of the sunset, eat our delicious food and then listen to one of the monks play the Caan (large wind instrument traditional to their culture.) It was a great time and I hope to bring my friends and family back here:)
Wonderful experience did much more than expected. Market shopping for fresh produce, shamen blessing and singing, bamboo weaving, cooking class was well explained and very hands on then after eating our meal we had the experience of a local pipe player, listening and playing. Finally all the people were so friendly and helpful. Excellent experience thank you
We had a really great time with a great group of people. From the ceremony to the weaving to the cooking and eating and finally the music performance.
Great experience, nice people that really so an effort to make you feel good. Really a must do in Luang Prabang
Amazing experience! Learned a lot about bamboo and its uses. After we cooked and made a bamboo coaster and did traditional dancing with bamboo. All the instructors were funny and kind and made the whole experience better. The location is amazing as well, a nice break from Luang Prabang. This experience is a must do when in Luang Prabang, will recommend to everyone!
Amazing experience that supports a culturesentric and local employment, tourism industry. Wonderful and heartwarming.
The most rewarding and spectacularly genuine, and generous experience. Tourism can sometimes ruin a place or degrade culture overtime, but through a tour like this you can invest in making tourism culture-centric, enjoy the skills, knowledge and heart of the people of the place you’re visiting. The meal alone is enough to book, the best food we’ve had in Lao but on top of that a moving musical proformance too. Thank you Somsay (and our weaving coach, our cooking teacher, chefs and musical performers). Enjoy!
Honestly, when it comes to any learning/activity experience, I am not easy to be pleased because I have experienced a lot already. But this one is something really special. The moment Sai (the owner) picked us up, I already felt his sincere, kind and positive aura. For me, good connection between people is highly essential, and that's what I felt the moment I stepped into his car. Then I arrived at his bamboo farm, and that's when my whole being got sold. Honestly the cooking class, delicious food, the bamboo activity, the purity of the ex-monk bamboo teacher, the musical entertainment of a 19y/o Laotian tribe and Sai's beautiful family are extraordinary bonuses for me. The entire package is something really special, that's why I am looking forward to go back to gain a next level program. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much Sai and to your wonderful team. May we remain friends and connected. Sincerely, Carmela (from everywhere)
This was way more than we expected. A must if you are in Luang Prabang. Thank you to the Bamboo Experience team for a great evening of cooking, weaving, information about bamboo, traditional music and delicious food - some of which we cooked ourselves.
Amazing experience!! We did an evening class, by chance we were the only ones there. Sai, his wife, their helper, and the bamboo craftsman were so welcoming, friendly, informative, and passionate. The information was super interesting and Sai really made a point of connecting us to Lao Lowland culture. To top it off, the food was out of this world.
We did the half day (evening) bamboo weaving and cooking class. All in all the most amazing experience! We get picked up at our hotel and brought to a beautiful house were we get drinks and learn about bamboos importance and all the products which can be produced sustainabily from it. The we move on to a weaving class with a master weaver from the village. Then we cook and eat the most amazing dinner and end off with a Hmong musical performance. Cannot recommend this enough!!
What a wonderful experience, I learned a lot about the Laos culture and I enjoyed every minute. I learned about bamboo and its countless uses, separated the sticky rice from its husks, weaved a little coaster and helped to prepare a delicious home made meal in a very clean kitchen. To finish, I was delighted by the sound of a typical Laos wind instrument played by a monk. I was given the opportunity to play this instrument to the amusement of my host ! All in all, am unforgettable experience which should not be missed. My host was very polite and his english was excellent. I thoroughly recommend this experience to every visitor to Luang Prabang !!
It was a very authentic experience. Out into the edges of the jungle to a family set up. The hosts all spoke excellent English and answered all questions and were really helpful. We got a lot of food too it was great value for money, no need to eat before coming. The bamboo weaving was really interesting and made us really appreciate the artistry and hard work that goes into everything they make. Also was a musical performance at the end which was a great peak into another aspect of Laos culture. Would say this is a definite must do for Luang Prabang.
We had a great experience learning about the different uses of bamboo in Laos. Our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about keeping the traditions going. We were given a chance to try bamboo weaving, the master weaver was patient with us as we were learning. The food we cooked was delicious. We ended the evening with an impressive musical performance.
A true cultural emersion experience. The evening started with learning about the uses of bamboo in the present day as it had been for centuries for fish traps, baskets, housing chickens as well as building houses. We were given an opportunity to try our hand at weaving and also using a cross bow (also still used today for hunting small animals) and separating rice from the husks. Hands on cooking class in which we prepared delicious food including young tender bamboo appetizers. The entire dinner was SO delicious and prepared in a carefully sanitary condition to accommodate all diets. The evening ended with an extraordinary musical performance with a unique Lao instrument. A truly magical and memorable evening. It is so much more than just a weaving and cooking class. The name does not tell the full story. We highly recommend it.
