We had a wonderful stay at Victoria Xiengthong Palace in Luang Prabang. The hotel has a beautiful traditional Lao character, with a charming and peaceful atmosphere that feels very fitting for the city. The location is excellent — right in the heart of the old town and close to the Mekong River, making it very convenient for exploring Luang Prabang on foot. The hotel itself is beautifully maintained, and our room was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully decorated, with a lovely balance between traditional Lao style and modern comfort. One of the highlights of staying here is the opportunity to experience the local culture. The traditional alms-giving ceremony takes place right outside the hotel in the morning, and the hotel also offers a sticky rice alms-giving experience right behind the hotel, which makes it very convenient for guests who would like to participate in this beautiful Lao tradition. There is also a spa within the hotel, which is a lovely option after a day of exploring Luang Prabang. The staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout our stay, and the service was excellent. The breakfast deserves a special mention. There was a great variety of choices, and everything we tried was delicious. One useful tip: when ordering breakfast, let the staff know that you would like a little of each item on one plate so you can try different dishes. Otherwise, they may serve each selection as a full portion, which can be quite a lot of food. 😄 Overall, a beautiful hotel with a wonderful location, great hospitality, excellent breakfast, and an authentic Luang Prabang atmosphere. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily come back again.

The staff are friendly and very helpfull. They do their best. However i feel the best days of this hotel are over. The rooms need a refurb with stained walls, aging furnishings and clunky aircon. The breakfast was a let down and they have no idea how to make coffee. We went to a nearby cafe for coffee after day 1. I wouldn't go back to this hotel.
What a beautiful place! Location is perfect right next to the famous Xiangthong Temple and easy walk to old town and night market. Room is spacious, ground is well kept. The staff are wonderful from the front to the restaurant. Our package is superb including great breakfast, alms offering , afternoon tea and a free shuttle! Highly recommend!
4 night stay, March 2026 Excellent service from the staff, and the breakfast was first class! Hotel grounds are landscaped and spacious with plenty of greenery and well kept. There were a few minor problems however; when booking I asked for a quiet room, but was given a room on riverside. Every morning from about 10am or 11am onwards a group of people on the river bank were playing music on loudspeakers as well as playing karoake! I note that there were rooms near the lobby which would have been much quieter. As for the room I had it was very spacious, and there was a very large balcony with seating. But the room is looking a bit dated and could do with a refurb.
We love this hotel. This hotel used to be the house of the last king and queen of the Kingdom Laos. We were greeted directly at the Luang Prabang Train Station by the hotel's complimentary shuttle, a thoughtful and welcoming gesture ;) The location was beautiful right by the Mekong River. The location was in the heart of everything and we walked pretty much every where. The view from our room was beautiful and we certainly enjoyed it. The grounds were immaculate and very well taken care of. The service was amazing and at the reception -receptionist India was so sweet and helpful. She took the time to talk to us and made us feel very welcome. Lovely breakfast included with Laotian food and fresh fruit, eggs, baguette, jam, meats, coffee/tea. If you’re a coffee lover , there are some great coffee shops on the river and Main Street a couple of minutes away. The rooms are quite big, clean, and have nice balconies.Very comfy bed! I can confidently say that this one offers the best value for your money. The rustic balcony provides a charming view of the Mekong River and incredibly quiet. Hotel staff are extremely polite and professional and always greet you with a warm smile. From the front desk staff to the breakfast staff, everyone was so welcoming. I'd highly recommend Victoria Xiengthong Palace hotel for its peaceful atmosphere, beautiful views, and excellent service. A great choice for a relaxing stay in Luang Prabang! This hotel truly deserves 5 stars!
