My experience with Legendary Tours was amazing! First, the tour guide, who is usually in the office, Shawand was so personable. Before she arrived, I had a question about pick-up time, and she was very responsive. She arrived on time, and our transportation was quite comfortable for this small group. I was traveling solo. Shawand pointed out sites and landmarks to us as we navigated to the Whitney Plantation. She was quite knowledgeable. Our handoff to the Whitney Plantation staff and our self-guided audio tour was seamless. The Plantation is everything I expected. Raw, honest and riveting. Having visited one other plantation and slave ports in Ghana, I was so impressed with the preservation of the buildings, the grounds and 1st person accounts from slaves. We were given plenty of time to make it through the tour in a way that allowed us to read, pause and reflect. And I saw an alligator in the river... uh, thought it was a prop but NOPE! lol Leaving the Plantation and heading back to New Orleans was also an easygoing, seamless experience. Shawand answered questions with ease. And lastly, she answered all of my questions regarding my food plans, personally ensuring that I got a good bowl of gumbo! The tour was great, and meeting Shawand added to an already amazing trip to NOLA. Thank you! I highly recommend Legendary Tours.

Fair. Self guided with audio guide. It turns a little boring. Maybe a human guide could make it better
We were visiting the area for a work convention and wanted to do a history tour. This was an audio self-tour. The audio was very informative and heart breaking at times. We highly recommend you experience this tour.
This is a self guided tour. It would be better to take one with a tour guide. It was ok but less information then anticipated.
It gives a very good idea of life on the plantation in terms of the slave. It was very effective to speak in a voice that slaves would have used. Sometimes it was difficult to understand but that made it seem more real.
The self guided tour was very well laid out with informative audio. An hour minimum to view each stop but closer to 2 hours for more in depth viewing.
An easy pick up Experience with Edward who was full of great information and made the trip up and back informative and relaxing. The self guided tour on the plantation grounds was informative and eye opening to the deeper intricacies of life on a sugar plantation for the enslaved. 10/10
Great guide and knowledge of history of surrounding areas..so happy we went with this option drive went by fast because of knowledge shared. I would definitely recommend to others interested in viewing Whitney.
This tour was very interesting, sad, n thought provoking. Loved the way it was set up. We used the phones and the narrators were awesome! Our driver Edward was awesome! Very knowledgeable about New Orleans and pointed out some interesting places
I highly recommend the tour and the driver was fantastic and provided historical context and narration along the way.
Informative very interesting. Very professional Tour guide was excellent. I would recommend this to friends.
Great tour. The hotel pickups and drop offs worked without a hit hitch. The plantation audio tour is something everyone should experience.
Great tour! Everyone should go and learn about history. Seeing the sculptures of the children brought the exhibits to life.
Great experience with Edward. Knowledgeable, nice drive gave the tour a good edge. Enjoyed plantation.
You follow a numbered route which takes you through what happened there. Very well planned and clean.
Very educational and emotional but overall it was a great. History at its best!!. I would definitely recommend to everyone I know who's coming to New Orleans.
Tour guide was AMAZING , smoove ride and amazing experience
It was very spiritual and informative. I would definitely recommend. This was an experience that I will never forget. When I visit New Orleans again, I will be back here to visit..
The tour and tour guide were fantastic. He really knows his history and facts about NOLA. The ride I got to see alot outside of the city . Thank you so much.
Tour guide was excellent keeping us informed regarding our pick up. He also provided insights during the approximately 1 hour ride and back. The plantation was very educational regarding slave trade history and conditions the slaves suffered
Paid for the bus and self guided tour. Our driver was not only nice but provided excellent details on New Orleans. Self guided tour was easy for our kids. Very educational and really puts the awful history into perspective
Wonderfully enlightening! I enjoyed the perspective in which they restored the history of the American slave with the story being told from the perspective of the enalaved. Our driver to the plantation was knowledgeable. We choose the guided tour and our guide (a retired local) was able to give us new information and to weave the unfortunate history of enslavement into a triumphant ongoing story of today
Legendary Tours picked us up at our hotel, bus driver gave us a mini tour on the way to/from Whitney Plantation. We were on the self guided tour at the Plantation which worked perfectly for us.
Love the experience, the history of the plantation
Our both guides were phenomenal. They were both friendly, knowledgeable and fun. They took excellent care of the tour group. I especially want to say a special thank you to the driver who took us to the Withney Plantation- such a beautiful man. He was very kind and accommodation. I apologize, I am horrible with names. Thank you, thank you!!!! Excellent experience.
This was a lot of walking, basically totally outside. It was a painfully, excellent educational tour.
Edward kept us laughing and learning on the way to and back from the Whitney Plantation. The tour of the plantation included an audio guide that provided information about each outdoor exhibit. We learned a lot. It was vey hot and we very much appreciated the mist stations!
Go on a cool day. The heat was unbearable. The plantation is packed with valuable information about how life was for slaves.
The tour was both educational and enlightening. I highly recommend. Our driver Edward with Legendary tours was amazing. He provided us with lots of fun facts about the area on the way to and from the Plantation.
Me and my family really enjoyed the experience, very knowledgeable information and shopping at the store.
It was an amazing and informative experience. It started with our driver, Edward. He was on time and along the way gave us some history about New Orleans. Edward answered all our questions gave us an insight of the importance of the city, landscape and habitants. Cynthia, our tour guide, took us back to slavery times. Very insightful. Definitively a most!!
Impactful plantation monument on slavery from the perspective of the enslaved. And Edward was a fantastic guide a s driver as well! Who shared so many gems about New Orleans and the surrounding areas on the way to the Whitney and returning. Crystal was a great guide on site as well, with a few of us having upgraded my tour rather than self guided. I would do this tour again and highly recommend it..
A unsugared version of a plantion tour. Preserved or rebuilt building brings the time period to life. I recommend a guided tour, though they offer a self guided tour.
Take a fan on hot days. Beautiful old building. Love that they give you a hand held device to listen to a narrator about the people, land and history. They also had spray mist areas to cool off. You can leisurely walk the property at your own pace or have a guilded tour.
Everything was great from pickup to drop off. The only problem was hearing the van driver as he didn’t use a microphone and the road noise over powered his voice in a 12 -14 passenger van.
Absolutely recommend this to anyone who is a visitor to New Orleans. We are visiting from Australia and were not sure what to expect as we didn't have a US phone contact - however, we were called by a lovely lady to inform our driver was on his way and what we should expect. Then we met the lovely Edward, who is a NO native. He warned us of his "southern charm" which was brilliant and knowledgeable! He told us of the New Orleans and Louisiana history on the way to the plantation. When we arrived at Whitney plantation, he directed us and gave us a time to meet for return to our hotel. He waited there the entire time whilst we explored, etc. Felt more like a day out with friends rather than strangers. 10/10!
Even though the pick up was running late (things happen!) I would def recommend it! Excellent communication. Our driver/tour was great!
Edward was very knowledgeable about NEW ORLEANS and was considerste
Our driver was great and very knowledgeable. He was professional, punctual, and kept us on schedule throughout the trip. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting New Orleans!
It was a wonderful excursion. Our guide Edward, was phenomenal. He shared so much more than what was at the museum.
You are on your own when it comes to adjustments due to weather. We had tornado and flood warnings. I called to see if the trip to the plantation was cancelled. Viator told us to check with the sponsor. We called, and were told to leave a message, and that they would get an answer on the next business day! It was FRIDAY! We took an Uber to the meeting place ($20), and was THEN called to reset the tour at noon! We had plans. Another $20 home. Viator should ALWAYS be able to get in touch with the sponsor, and be expected to make sure that we were notified! I am out $40, which was 2/3 the cost of the tour itself! Crappy business that I will never trust again!
This was my second time with Legendary Tours and it was just as amazing as the first time. Edward was do knowledgeable and funny. He alone is worth the ride but the destination is the Plantations which, is another experience all on its own. Do yourself a favor and book immediately!
Great experience so rich in black American history Bus ride was amazing Driver had so much information and knowledge of our history here Great experience I give it 6 stars👍🏾
From start to finish it was great. Self-guided tour was amazing. Sooo much information...humbling experience.
Amazing experience. I loved the handheld devices that gave you the history as you went from each exhibit. Our driver Edward was very knowledgeable about the area and gave great history lessons on the way up and back. I liked how our group was small.
Edward our driver was very knowledgeable and friendly. This was a really good experience, we had plenty of time and the tour was easy to follow.
Very informative and definitely a must for everyone. Such a great experience. I did the self pace tour and was able to take my time within the timeframe to be back to the bus. We talk about this tour and tell everyone we know to experience it at least once.
The Driver Edward was on time and very informative from point a to b .The company kept you posted of any possible inconveniences. Legendary tours did amazing.
This is a must see place, profoundly moving and an important, although horrific, part of our history. Beautiful grounds, serene views and an attempt to honor the lives lost of so many enslaved people.
Very interesting and learned a lot about the lives of slaves during this period. Not your typical plantation tour. Something different and informative
