Well organized and our bus driver was hysterical. The plantation tour was led by a doctorate prepared historian who has focused his research on the Whitney Plantation and the slaves who worked there in the 1700 and 1800s. He was incredible. The swamp tour was fun. We saw lots of alligators and bald eagles.

Truly an incredible experience, both the Whitney Plantation & Airboat tour! Our guide and driver Brian was fantastic. So knowledgable, funny, and a safe driver. Highly recommend.
This is an incredible and emotional visit. Our interpreter was a young man who can trace his ancestors to this plantation. The ringing of the bell for the slaves to know to go work in the fields brought tears to my eyes. This is the real story of those people! The cruelty that happened for money is astounding. Please visit & support them!
The pickup was a bit chaotic and the tours were either self guided or through another company, but the cost of entry and transportation were included and we enjoyed the visit. After seeing and hearing the history of the enslaved people at Whitney it was difficult to see Oak Alley through the same lense (where we stopped for lunch). But it was a great intro to plantation life. The bayou airboat tour was also amazing. We had alot of fun, saw many alligators, various birds and a wild boar. This tour was a great combo tour and our driver was fantastic. He got us safely home and offered to drop us off anywhere we wanted on the way home. And we made it back into the city in time to have a dinner.
The Whitney Plantation Tour was extremely informative, impactful, and worth the time. The staff were extremely welcoming and informed. The swamp boat tour was awesome! Our tour guide Eric was great and made it so fun. There were so many alligators and we learned so much about them and the land. I would highly recommend this tour package.
The Whitney plantation was interesting but the air boat tour was absolutely top level ! The ranger was informative and answered all the questions and much more. What a great experience to be hurtled through alligator filled swamp lands at high speed .
The ticket says be there at 8:00 am, but the driver was 45 minutes late. It was super annoying because I got up early to ensure I was down in my hotel to meet the bus. I wasnโt sure if he forgot about me. No communication, so I had to call him and emaiil to see if he was coming. He abruptly called me back and said yes, be ready. He seemed annoyed. He tells unfunny jokes and does some weird laughing thing where itโs over done and fake. Repeatedly which was super awkward. If you go on his bus tour, you donโt really need to go to the plantation because heโll tell you the stories before you get there. I donโt know why he does this. It kind of ruins the experience at the plantation because heโs already told you the stories. Heโs drives with his phone to his ear and is answering calls. Many of us were talking that safety wise he really should have a hands free.
Transportation was very convenient and had great educational tour
We LOVED the airboat tour. Iam glad we did it. Thank you to our very knowledgeable tourguide who made it exciting. Had an absolutely great time !
The whitney plantation was good with the selfguided tour. Plantation was smaller than I thought and we could not go tl second floor. Or visit the inside of thw overseer house. Learned a lot. Bring umbrella or hat.
This was my first time in New Orleans and this outing was my favorite part of our trip. Our bus driver/tour guide was both extremely friendly and incredibly informative, and the bus was comfortable and air conditioned. It's about an hour drive out to the plantations and along the way he shared interesting historical facts and pointed out the pumps/levy systems and other historical sites. A lot of the information he shared provided helpful context for when we arrived at the Whitney plantation. I felt we had the perfect amount of time at each location (Whitney Plantation - we had plenty of time to get through both the outdoor walk and indoor exhibit, Oak Alley for a quick lunch stop, and then the swamp tour). The swamp tour was a fun way to end the day after a more somber morning of reflection. I actually didn't expect the swamp tour to be so informative - I learned a ton about alligators and how the wildlife organizations in Louisiana manage their populations. I also can totally see why they are called "swamp puppies"...I found them surprisingly cute! They were literally everywhere and swam up to the boat when called by name (yes, they have names for them!). Our boat had some engine trouble, but our driver was awesome, kept calm, and got us quickly back to the dock to switch to a new boat. It was a hot day, but with the breeze out on the water it felt really nice. Due to our engine trouble, our bus had to wait a few extra minutes for us and we got back to the city around 4:30pm, with plenty of time to make it to our dinner reservations. All in all, this was a great day thanks to the awesome hospitality of our tour guides and how seamlessly they managed the timelines and transportation between sites. Next time I'm in New Orleans, I would definitely do this again!
Whitney Plantation tells a thoughtful and respectful story of a tragic period in our nation's history, one that every one of us as citizens should know and understand deeply. It's especially important now as so much of this story is being swept under the rug because it might make some of us uncomfortable. See it, you won't be disappointed.
Very educational and moving. The tour guide was excellent in explaining everything. In the visitors center they had a wall for guests to leave post-it notes; asking to leave a message what the tour MEANT to you. I walked away, reflecting on how we need to CHERISH everything we have and HOLD ON to everyone we LOVE.
Overall great experience all around! Thank you to Mr. B for a great trip and even sharing restaurant recommendations!
We really enjoyed this tour and thought the combination of the Whitney Plantation and the airboat experience made for a fantastic day. The Whitney Plantation was incredibly interesting, moving, and educational. We appreciated that the experience focused on the lives and stories of the enslaved people who lived and worked there, which gave us a much deeper understanding of the history. It was very well done and definitely worth visiting. The airboat tour was a completely different experience and so much fun! It was a great way to get out into the Louisiana wetlands, see the scenery and wildlife, and end the day on a more adventurous note. We loved having both experiences combined into one tour. Educational, memorable, and funโdefinitely one of the highlights of our trip and something we would recommend!
Recently I did this tour my BDay wknd & honestly I enjoyed it! From the driver to the ppl @ the tour sites. If youโre coming in the Summer months I would definitely recommend you bring a fan, stay hydrated & wear sunscreen it does get a hot walking around the Plantation. The Swamp tour wasnโt too bad because once you board the boat you do get a lil breeze from rowing around. All in all I enjoyed both experiences. 10/10 The Plantation 10/10 was very informative & just to be able to experience it I loved it. The audio was good & explains a lot of history of the Plantation & displays. The swamp also a 10/10 the boat driver was very polite, had humor & gave us a lot of information about the gators in LA. Which we were able to see many of them. My FaV was Clobber & Ray!
Our tour guide was excellent. As we traveled to the plantation, he not only shared info about it and slave practices in general, but also on Hurricane Katrina. As a native of New Orleans, he had an excellent perspective on the city. He was a knowledgeable historian ac well.
Pick up and drop off were on time. The driver was great, he gave us so much local history. The self guided plantation visit was laid out exquisitely. The grounds were well kept and the information well explained. Visiting the plantation was very touching.
Tour was amazing! The plantation tour was educational and informative. The praline stop was incredible. The airboat tour was amazing. Getting to see gators up close in the wild was awesome. Highly recommend!
Whitney Plantation is a moving experience. Let yourself go back to this time as the audio takes you through the history. Take time to read the signs and plaques. Imaging what was felt & experienced during this time saddened me. I think this was one of my top experiences in NOLA. I originally booked our airboat tour separately with abother company highly recommended - but then wanted to add the Plantation so this tour made better sense, economically too!! Our airboat guide Mike was awesome at Rajin Cajun. And our bus driver felt like a favorite Aunt - pointing sites out along the way - loved her. Name began with M I think (shame on me for bot being able to give her a proper shout out!)
A lot of history of the slaves and their lives. Sad, but we need to know our history! Our business driver was so wonderful. He even dropped us off near our hotel. Our airboat ride was exceptional, too! This is an excellent tour to book!
Informative and moving experience. The Plantation and exhibits are well maintained. The audio tour was easy to navigate
Great informative tour with a lot of historic value. I was also able to get cute items from the gift store.
Plantation was interesting, educational and humbling. So very sad to see the history of the treatment the slaves, even children, endured. The air boat was also cool, our guide was great! We had 2 awesome bus drivers, one was in training. They were informative, polite and very nice gentlemen.
This is the only plantation where the story is told from the slave POV. That is why we picked this one. Glad we took the self guided tour with audio. We could take our time and the audio was so informative.
We had a great driver that always looked out for us and making sure we were taking care of at every stop. He knew we would need a drink for the boat tour and pulled over at a state for us buy some.
This was such a great and informative tour! We were picked up at our hotel and our tour guide driver (I canโt remember his name) was a wealth of information! He talked about Hurricane Katrina, the swamps, the history of many different people that make up New Orleans and the different plantations in the area. The plantation tour was self guided and very informative! We were able to explore at our own pace. We even saw a baby alligator in the property while we were walking around! There is a gift shop on the plantation that has items made by women in Ghana. They had some beautiful jewelry, fans, headbands and many other items. My favorite gift store item is a small book of quotes from the children of the Whitney Plantation. There are many statues of children who lived on the plantation and the quotes are from those children. I highly recommend this tour!!
This was our first time going to New Orleans. MY friends, who have been there several times, told us about this tour and said it is the best. We would agree! We paid a little extra for the smaller size boat (6-10) passenger, and it was definitely worth it.
Driver was great and shuttle bus was clean! Plantation visit was very interesting. Self guided was great! But probably didnโt need 2 hours to walk around the plantation. Then went to oak valley plantation for lunch and that was a great choice! Good gift shop and good. Todd back to the swamp was good. Swamp ride was great! Definitely bring sunscreen and a hat! Saw lots of gators! Fun day!
It was very informative. The driver was very knowledgeable about the history of New Orleans and the plantation, and everyone was very well pleased with him. Thank you so much.
The combination airboat and Whitney Plantation tour offers two very different, yet captivating experiences. The airboat tour was a great introduction to the bayous outside New Orleans, with plenty of gators and other wildlife. The plantation experience was highly informative and very moving, a must for anyone who wants to understand Americaโs past and present. Our driver Brian was the best. Great guy with a wealth of information and an infectious laugh.
From the moment you are picked up, until drop off this tour is great. Our driver Brian, was a burst of fun energy who kept us entertained the entire time. You have to hear his laugh. On serious and humbling note, the Whitney plantation was well done and educational and I felt honored to to experience it. The airboat tour was very surprising. I actually loved it. The airboat was fun. Lots of gators and learned a lot about the demeanor of gators. Ear covers are provided for the sound and wind. People brought their beverages on the boats (yes, alcohol). So if u want to bring water or alcohol, u can. I didn't need bug spray, but could because weather was cooler and light breeze. Would recommend sunscreen or u can wear a hat, just hold on to it. Loved this tour all the way through and highly recommend!
Very meaningful and eye opening. We learned the real history about how plantations operated and relied on slavery. It was important to also learn how blacks rebelled and fought against slavery and paid for it with their lives. I felt saddened but hopeful because true history was revealed and not whitewashed. Well worth experiencing.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and the plantation was a very interesting place to visit, lots of interesting history etc. We also went on the swamp boat tour, this was awesome, saw lots of Gators and other wildlife , brilliant day, highly recommended.
The Whitley Plantation was an eye opening experience. The plantation is rich with history. The guided tour was very informative.
Plantation had some amazing history. The airboat tour was so much fun! We had an amazing captain, very entertaining.
Iโm surprised there arenโt more raving reviews of this experience! My sister and I enjoyed this so much and canโt wait to go back. The cost was more than worth it. We brought a bag of snacks and drinks because it is an all day experience. I highly recommend you do the same if youโre a snacker or get hypoglycemic.
Great time! Pickup was on time, and we got to all 3 spots timely. Swamp boat was our favorite! Whitney Plantation was a piece of history and informative.
Nice experience. More history included here than with the other plantations that o have been to in previous years.
My girlfriend and I went with our favorite third wheel and we had a fantastic time. The shuttle pickup time varies depending on where you are in the quarter but the service is excellent and both the swamp and plantation were great experiences.
Whitney plantation was great, airboat was fun, but driver forgot to take us to a lunch spot by the plantation and instead dropped us off at the airboat place 1.5 hours before the airboat time. Had to walk to place in a sketchy area. Not great. Need to improve this part of the tour!
BE WARNED!!! This in NOT the "Guided Tour" of Whitney plantation which costs $32, the "Self Guided" is $25. As we were not aware of the Guided Tour we asked if we could upgrade from Self-Guided to the "Guided Tour" and we were willing to pay the $7 difference. The Whitney Plantation server said "no" and we had to pay for the whole Guided Tour again. So this portion of the tour ended up costing $57. Other than that hiccup, we had a great Guide named Cheryl and our bus Driver Demetria were both amazing, felt very welcomed and communicated clearly and effectively!!! The Airboat is also well worth the money and despite it being winter we still got to see 2 x alligators with their babies. Fantastic day but get the Whitney Plantation GUIDED TOUR...not this one.
Bilal was amazing and answered all my many questions! Whitney was a sobering experience and Iโm so glad I had Bilal to fill in details on the bus ride. Jacob was my swamp guide and he was fantastic at finding the gators. Great way to end the day
Unfortunately we chose one of the coldest days for our tour. Made experiencing the plantation a challenge but still educational. We all froze during the airboat ride but had so much fun anyway because of Garrett. He put us on the two gators that were visible and we had a lot of laughs with him during our tour. Highly recommend!
If you enjoy history, Whitney plantation is a good place to start....don't let that be the only you visit! Also, we did the swamp tour -that airboat ride was outstanding. We have done a lot of those in Florida and this was so =much fun - driver was so knowledgeable. Seen lots of swamp creatures! Be sure and put this on your list!
Was really looking forward to the plantation tour; swamp was an add on. Plantation portion did not disappoint. They did a great job building an awareness of the plight of the slaves, Didnโt have high expectations for the swamp tour. Boy, was I wrong. It was so informative and exhilarating. Really really enjoyed it. Our guide, Josh was SO funny and made sure we saw a plethora of wild life. Great tours!!!!
This is a must do visit, very informative and interesting at Whitney Plantation. Then onto the Airboat Swamp Tour that puts fun into the trip. Our guide Mick on the swamp airboat was fab knew everything you would want to know, easy pick up and drop off from hotel, driver (cant remember name so sorry) was helpful, polite and very informative on route to Whitney. This is a must do experience when visiting NOLA๐๐
This was a great two part experience! The Whitney Plantation is frankly indescribable. Part of Americas history and extremely well done. It will leave you thinking about things for sure. We had a great time at the Fan boat alligator tour as well. We had the absolute best fan boat driver who was extremely engaging and actually made the effort for us to have a great experience. So fun!!
Our bus driver and boat captain were both excellent! We were lucky enough to see lots of gators and eagles.
The pick up experience was very poor. Be there at 8 and got collected at 8.30 and with no comms to say that the driver was running late. Appalling.
