Leah was great - once she learned everyone in our small group had been in town for a few days and didn't need general NOLA history, she focused on voodoo, the practice, how Marie Laveau was misunderstood and more. I had to ask some direct questions as I didn't know anything about voodoo but then she shared more learned directly from practitioners. The store we went to was pretty interesting especially if you know more about this practice. Leah gave candid advice about other places to visit and tours that would add (vs just be repetitive). This is not the tour if you want generic NOLA history or ghost / voodoo generic stories. Thanks Leah.

Morgan did an excellent job! Enjoyed the history of the area and certainly felt like we barely hit the top of the iceberg! Excellent story telling and info!
Orion is the BEST guide! I’ve been on a lot of tours in a lot of different cities/countries and he was EXCELLENT! Funny, knowledgeable, and well versed. I highly recommend going on one of his tours 😊
Leah was a fantastic tour guide, very knowledgeable and fun to talk with. I had a great time chatting with her and experiencing the city through her eyes.
We unintentionally ended up on a private tour, and we couldn’t have been happier about it! Gomez was our guide, and he was wonderful. He was extremely knowledgeable and clearly passionate about what he does. It never felt like he was just doing a job, he genuinely enjoys sharing his knowledge and helping people understand the history and traditions. We quickly realized that much of what we thought we knew about voodoo was either incomplete or simply wrong. Gomez did an amazing job explaining the history, beliefs, and traditions in a way that was interesting, respectful, and easy to understand. We left with a much better understanding and appreciation of voodoo, along with a genuine interest in learning more. We would absolutely recommend this tour, especially if you’re lucky enough to have Gomez as your guide!
This was an exceptional experience. We came in with very little knowledge on both New Orleans history and the origins of Voodoo. We gained so much information and it has left us wanting to take an even deeper dive into both!!
Today we experienced the Voodoo Queen Tour in New Orleans, and our tour guide, Gomez, was truly exceptional. He is, without question, the best tour guide I have ever had on any tour. His knowledge of New Orleans history, Marie Laveau, the stories of enslaved people, and so much more was remarkable. Every stop on the tour was enriched by his detailed narration and deep understanding of the city’s past. One of my favorite moments was standing in Congo Square. I had studied this place before, but hearing Gomez explain its history brought everything to life in a way that was powerful, moving, and unforgettable. He shared everything I learned in school—and even more. His storytelling is captivating, respectful, and full of passion. To end the tour, we formed a line band and marched, danced, clapped, and followed one another while Gomez sang. It was joyful, energetic, and so much fun—and yes, he has a wonderful voice too. If you are visiting New Orleans, take this tour and request Gomez. He deserves 10 stars. When I return to N.O., I will absolutely take this tour again and request him—and only him. Gomez, thank you for teaching us so much today. We truly loved you and everything you shared. You made this experience unforgettable.
Voodoo tour and so much more! DJ is a knowledgeable and excellent guide. We learned what voodoo is and it influence on NOLA We learned true history of Marie Laveau. Got to see several interesting sites and visit an authentic voodoo shop
DJ was great, not only was he extremely friendly but he was very knowledgeable. My 1st visit to Nola and I have been trying to have as many interesting tours and experiences as I can. I am glad he was a part of it. If we makee another trip.we will happily book another one of his tours.
we were so lucky when we got Gomez as our guide. Soooo informative, passion for the New Orleans history, accommodating and pleasant. Best tour we have been on and we have been on many all over the world! Thanks Gomez!
Gomez gave a lovely depiction of New Orleans history and culture which is exactly why I booked this tour :) five stars!!
The guide was very knowledgeable about the history of New Orleans, in general. The tour went on far longer than the stated 2 hours, I think it exceeded 3, but even though there were 3 or 4 of us that have bad backs and trouble walking (1 lady was using a cane), we all stayed with our guide the entire time. He talked about New Orleans history, took us to a church because Catholicism has always been a huge influence in the city, took us to a cemetery, the Louis Armstrong park, as well as Marie Laveau's house (rebuilt after it burned down). He told us about how voodoo was brought here and how it came about and that it isn't about evil and curses. It was a very interesting tour.
Orion gave a fascinating and funny and thoughtful to her of a part of New Orleans that allowed us to understand the voodoo culture. He was eloquent, so interesting, and we absolutely love the experience
This was a very informative and interesting tour exploring the history of New Orleans, slavery and the Voodoo religion and culture. Orion was an excellent guide providing a detailed history as well as some great recommendations around the city. We learned a lot! He was friendly and entertaining, integrating some movie references for all ages. He also indicated some possible bathroom stops along the tour, which was very helpful with kids.
Funny, and the right start to get an introduction to New Orleans - or as our tour guide said, the most northern Caribbean Ciity.
Fantastic and informative tour, our tour guide D.J. was amazing, we could listen to him all day. What he doesn’t know about New Orleans isn’t worth knowing about!
Gomez was a wonderful guide and storyteller of the history of Voodoo in New Orleans. We had just 6 people on our tour and it felt very personal, thorough, and fun.
Scott was very knowledgeable and informative. You could tell he loved his job. He made a point of stopping in shady spots to tell us his stories.
There is walking and stopping but very level. Our guide was amazing at pacing the group so all we're comfortable with the pace. Our guide, John, was very engaging and knowledgeable.
The Voodoo tour with Orion was amazing. As a historian, he shared so many great facts while also highlighting the folklore aspects of stories. I love that Orion approaches this topic as a religious and cultural topic, explaining all of the ways that print and film have sensationalized voodoo and fabricated false content. We explored spots in the French Quarter and sacred sites in Congo Square. His tour was educational and thought-provoking. If you are interested in learning about community and culture, rather than Hollywood portrayals of curses and dark magic, I highly recommend booking Orion's Voodoo tour.
The ‘guide’ DJ was so rude from the very start that my wife - who has been looking forward to this immensely- who was the recipient of the rudeness decided, felt if we continued with this man there would be assault charges.
Scott was a great guide and shared all kinds of interesting information about New Orleans history and the voodoo practice. Very entertaining and fun.
This was truly one of the best walking tours I’ve been on! A group of friends and I had Orion as our guide, and it was a fabulous introduction to the city. He had a respectful, conscientious approach to the history and was amazingly knowledgeable about all of the topics we covered and asked about. Can not recommend more!
Scott was an excellent tour guide: friendly, informative and interesting. We had a great time learning about the history of voodoo in New Orleans! We would highly recommend him and this tour!
Gomez was a great guide and did a great job weaving the history of the founding of New Orleans into how Voodoo was created and the impact in the area as well. This tour is perfect for kids that are interested in history and not sensitive to and spooky content and going into a Vooddoo shop. And content that discusses the truth behind the slave trade and some of the brutality of it. Important to Learn in my opinion. What age that is different for each child.
This was not a spooky, dark tour. It was an illumination of what voodoo is - and isn't. Marie Laveau and her daughter (also Marie Laveau) probably changed New Orleans history and this tour was a really interesting and engaging way to learn how they did that. Thanks, Gomez!! (But, seriously, be prepared for that 2nd Line experience 😄😄😄)
D.J. was a great guide. He's very knowledgeable and made the tour fun. He was very encouraging of questions and spoke loud enough we could hear him in the back. Highly recommend.
Wes was great, so knowledgeable and respectful of the culture. Learned and laughed a lot! Highly recommend
From start to finish I loved this tour. John is absoutley wonderful. I wish this was my first tour here cos I would have cancelled all the others and only used him. Seriously, book all your tours you can through him. His knowledge and research was impecable, his communicaton is brilliant. I learnt so much about the history of voodoo and not just the touristy bits other tours do, I feel I really understand it now and that's all thanks to John. I highly recommened him, honestly, I can't praise him enough, it was the best tour I've ever been on, really made a mark on my trip to New Orleans. A**
Very entertaining, informative, and all round great. Probably the best tour we did this year much less this city.
Great experience. Very informative. Would highly recommend. You will not be sorry. Best tour if you are interested in learning and exploring.
It is informative and unique. Orion had a great personality and was very knowledgeable. He made an effort to find a shade for us to stop in when he talked to us. We could have listened to him all day.
our guide was very knowledgeable on the history of vodoo and New Orleans. He was very entertaining. We had an awesome tour. The memories we take home!
DJ displayed a lot of knowledge and very friendly. He was an amazing guide for our tour. I would 100% recommend this tour for people to understand the history of the area.
Orion was great. Very knowledgeable and entertaining. We learned a lot and would highly recommend this tour.
Had a great time with Orion, who knows his stuff and is a great storyteller! Fun way to see the city from a different angle.
Gomez was a very informative, interesting and engaging guide for our Voodoo queen tour. He took us to the Voodoo shop and explained numerous items, along with going to Congo Square and other highlights of the tour. We ended the tour with a second line musical experience.
A primary objective my wife and I had for taking this tour was to learn about Voodoo and what it is and is not. Our guide Gomez met and exceeded this objective. We learned what Voodoo dolls are all about and the different nuances of Voodoo in New Orleans. Although the tour was well worth our time, our guide Gomez surprised us all with a treat that made this tour our favorite tour during our trip to New Orleans. I won't say what the surprise was in case any travelers are lucky enough to get Gomez as your guide, but it was fantastic!
We walked around the French Quarter while Orion gave us a detailed history tour providing us with so much information! This was a great introduction to the area for us and really helped us open our hearts to the city and gain a greater understanding and appreciation of the people. We also learned so much about the VooDoo religion and community and the evolution of this group. I especially appreciated the wonderful couple we did the tour with. Orion was respectful, intelligent, well spoken and could answer questions. Wonderful tour guide! I felt very comfortable with his expertise.
Tour name is different to mine, but not listed otherwise. Tour guide John, driving very Aron. Excellent support, friendly and engaging. Answered all questions and were keen to assist those in the tour. A fantastic way to explore the sights of New Orleans in a quick and efficient way. Thank you.
Gomez was a great guide, he had a lot of great information and made the tour very enjoyable. The second line at the end of the tour was very fun.
Was nervous about going on this adventure alone, but it was probably the most fun I had during my stay in NOLA. Orion was an amazing historian, super knowledgeable! Would recommend!
FANTASTIC!! Thoughtful, compassionate history telling. Learned about the realities of Voodoo and the misconceptions surrounding the religion.
I did multiple tours during my trip to New Orleans but the Voodoo tour was by far the best. My tour guide Gomez was awesome. He combined his wealth of knowledge with brilliant theatricality. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who is interested in the real history of New Orleans given by an entertaining and charismatic tour guide.
Gomez was an exceptional tour guide ! He was funny, knowledgeable and a fantastic singer ! Our tour was very informative , jam packed with info that was easy to digest - I would highly recommend !
Gomez is very knowledgeable of the history of New Orleans. His tour was extremely interesting and informative. He has a sense of humor and can sing really well. Highly recommend.
Our tour guide, Gomez did an excellent job! Great information and he is very passionate about what he does! Would fo another tour with him!!
I went on the Ghost, Vampire & Voodoo tour which didn’t appear to be an option on the previous page. In any case, our guide was Wesley and did an EXCELLENT job—he seriously DESERVES a RAISE!
Gomez was extremely knowledgeable about not only the history behind voodoo, but New Orleans history in general. He was very informed, welcomed questions, and made the tour a lot of fun while teaching us. He ended the tour with us doing a "second line." This was so informative and fun, I would do it again!
We had a great time!! Scott was knowledgeable and fun! Beatiful tour of NOLA. Even got to bring Asher our trained dog along with us.
