So much to see. We didn’t get through everything. We were able to meet a vet who served in both WW2 and the Korean War. Such a wonderful experience.

It was amazing. There were many displays of planes, uniforms but the shows made you feel like you were really there.
If you are a history buff or a WWII nerd, seeing this museum is a must. Since New Orleans is the building spot of the Higgins boats , this museum does more than honor that. It takes you into an immersive trek through history and what lead us into the war and the impact of the country. My grandfather was in WWII , and this hit hard. It took till I was much older and asked him about some of the stories, and I have always felt a closeness. The curated effort put into this museum is amazing and I hope generations of Americans understand what we were fighting for, and why. Thank you to this museum and all who helped make it what it is, and for bringing my grandfather back to life. Even for a few hours.
This is a quality museum. The exhibits are easily visited in one day even with the 4-D movie experience.
Plan 2 days to fully see all exhibits. Very extensive, interactive. Too much to process in one day.
The museum is very well layout with one exhibit to the next. The exhibits themselves have so much to offer. Be prepared to spend the whole day there. There are cafes and seats here and there. Will recommend to watch the film.
Not a place to miss. I was so surprised how much I enjoyed my time there. Make ot a stop on your vaca even if your not a history person.
Such a cool experience and super cool to show my kids. The history of world war two, it was a perfect way to spend the day.
This is a fantastic museum. The only downside is it is so big you need the whole day to see it. I spent 6 solid hours there and probably could have stayed longer. There is an impressive amount of information and exhibits there spread across 7 buildings. The 4-D film is interesting. It's narrated by Tom Hanks. One word of warning. There is a short film documenting liberators and survivors of the death camps. I believe it was shot in the 90's. It can be very hard to watch this.
Highly recommend! Plan to spend at least 4 hours or more. The history was no other, definitely do the 4D movie.
The WWII museum was an experience everybody should see. The nostalgic restaurant had good food and atmosphere.
Phenomenal exhibits, humbling/somber experience, and the 4d movie is a must. Allow yourself enough time to see it all. It is worth the time spent.
The museum is a comprehensive and moving collection of WW II memorabilia and acquisitions. The layout and context are very well done and make for a truly unforgettable experience.
Seriously, probably the most amazing museum in the country. It’s done so well I can’t properly describe how awesome it was. Took my 14 year-old son and he loves history and it’s so interactive and the beyond all boundaries movie is an absolute must it was totally riveting and emotional.. must do if you’re anywhere New Orleans
Went with my grandson (20 yrs. old), and my significant other. We were there only for most of one day, and could probably have filled 2 days. We loved the Tom Hanks movie. Overall the experience was deeply moving. My dad was a WWII Army combat veteran who served in the Pacific. I noticed that most of the exhibits seemed to be related to Marines and Sailors. I would have liked to have seen more about the role the Army played in combat in the Pacific. I also wonder if there is or could be such a thing as a 2 or 3 day admission pass. Thank You!
The museum was an excellent experience. Very informative and the 4D film was awesome. The WWII museum is a must see.
The World War II Museum is excellent. You need the full day. We got there when it opened and just about saw everything when it closed.
I brought my 14 year old grandson. I am so grateful that he has seen what amazing men and women did during WWII to continue to to give Our country freedom.
The entire museum is a gem. The layout of the galleries, the exhibits, and the artifacts are all exceptionally well presented. Your journey begins by entering a train, where you learn how similar trains transported people from small towns across the United States as they headed off to war. It’s a powerful introduction that sets the tone for the rest of the visit. Each gallery is thoughtfully designed, but the most impressive exhibits for me were Road to Tokyo and Road to Berlin. They provide an immersive and moving look at the different theaters of World War II. To top it all off, the 4D movie is absolutely a must-see. It’s an unforgettable experience .
Spent two days. Could’ve spent another. It was amazing. Great volunteer docent. Amazing exhibits. So many oral history accounts by people who lived through World War II. I highly recommend it.
If you are a history buff, this place is definitely not one to miss! Before you even get inside, there are plenty of things to see outside the building. And inside, you could get lost for the next few days and still not see everything! I recommend purchasing the ticket that includes the 4D movie. It was definitely worth the extra money. There are so many exhibits inside that really immerse you into the times. Right at the beginning you get on a stationary train and watch some footage and hear some audio that makes you feel like you’re one of the boys going off to war. You can get a “dog tag” on a card and follow an individual throughout their whole experience, and find out if they lived or died. One of my favorite exhibits was the Anne Frank exhibit. They had her house made up, with the infamous bookcase. You could even sit on the furniture and it made you feel like you were actually there. They also had another house made up this way, and several rooms of exhibits with actual “snow” etc, that made you feel very immersed in the places/stories. We stayed for several hours and didn’t feel like we even made a dent in the place. Give yourself a lot of time!
Look at the map closely and plan. It is a little overwhelming, but well worth it!! There is so much to see - so you definitely want to plan so as to not miss anything!
This place was so big you get lost. This is a must see for anyone. The staff was great. Put on your walking shoes
It was an amazing and emotional tour. I would highly recommend it to anyone to learn about the war and the sacrifices made to keep our freedom.
The 4D movie was excellent. Highly recommend it. Also, that museum was extremely informative. In addition, I would recommend the muffins at the food court.
Amazing museum. Informative and enjoyable. The 4 D film was fantastic. Will come again and bring other history enthusiasts.
It was amazing. I now know more about World War 2 than I thought possible. So much information, from movies to exhibits to planes, even tanks and jeeps. It also had closed caption for the 4D movie if you sat in certain areas, which I thought was wonderful. A wonderful museum!
We've experienced the Smithsonian Museums, and multiple WWII era museums in Europe - from Normandy to the Netherlands. This museum, sad to say, does not compare despite the size of the campus. And campus it is. The displays are scattered throughout several buildings and overall makes for a disjointing and confusing visit. We had to ask for directions several times as there was no coherent or logical path to follow. We went up to one floor, were then directed down to another floor, or instructed to go over to another building, etc. However, the WORST part was our experience in the 4D movie theater. The film is a sober, realistic and visually disturbing depiction of war. IT IS NOT A PLACE TO BRING SMALL CHILDREN AND THE MUSUEM SHOULD ENFORCE AN AGE REQUIREMENT! We had a family behind us with 2 children under the age of 10 who whined, cried, kicked seats, and loudly talked during the most emotionally charged scenes yelling out comments like, "Is that a dead boy, Mommy? Is that a dead boy? Why is that boy dead, Mommy?" LOUDLY. "Is that a pile of people, Daddy? Why is that a pile of people? What is wrong with those people, Daddy? Why are they skinny,Daddy?" This went on through the entire film. Of course, the parents did nothing to consider the rest of the audience and we all had to endure this for the entire film. I was especially sad for the older members of the audience, many of whom this visit was a once in a lifetime experience. Since many parents don't have the sense to realize this is not a film for children, the museum should mandate an age requirement.
Excellent. Five hours that included 4D movie and 2 1/2 hours with tour guide was not enough. Lots to see.
A must see museum! Plan at lest one full day to experience one of, if not the number one museum in the US. The stories, sound effects, videos are the best. It makes you feel the pain of the people while walking through history! A must visit!
One of the best museums I have visited. We did a guided highlights tour and it was definitely worth the extra cost. Our guide Katie did a great job with interesting facts and stories, giving us a comprehensive experience. The 4D movie was also outstanding and worth the price, although I wish we had done the movie then the tour, not the other way around. After our tour, we went more in depth in a couple of spot and visited parts that were not on the highlights tour. The museum is huge and there is so much to see. We were there from about 9:30-4:30 and I definitely think I could have spent another day there. This is a must-see when you go to New Orleans. We had lunch at the American Sector Restaurant and it was excelent. I had a huge shrimp Po Boy and it was quite good.
Extroadinary museum! DO NOT MISS the movie, “Beyond all Borders.” It will help your understanding of WWII. Plan to spend a full day to really appreciate the museum.
This was a very sobering experience. The 4D movie will set you up for your visit throughout. I assure you you will learn things about the WWII you never knew. This will vist will be an education.
I was only in New Orleans for two days and felt this was a place I definitely needed to see. I used the Hop-on Hop-off to get here and the stop was right across the street. The gentleman I got at the admission desk wasn't very friendly and just rattled numbers off like a machine. Regardless, I chose the General Admission with the Beyond Boundaries film which cost me $45. I think that's a little steep, especially when I knew I only had about 4 hours to spend, but whatever. They herd you to place where the film is shown, then you wait there for 10 or so minutes to be let into the actual theatre. The film was good and I really enjoyed the experience. I ate at one of the restaurants within the complex, it was good and the bartender was very friendly. Then I headed toward the area of the Pacific Theatre where my dad had been stationed. There is an overwhelming amount of history and displays to take in, so you definitely need more than one day to see everything. I've never been to any of the other WWII museums, so I can't compare it to anything else.
What a wonderful place. We needed at least two days, but only booked one. So we plan to return. I was touched over and over again by the bravery of ordinary people, both soldiers and non-combatants.
Make sure you plan on more than one day to visit this extensive, fascinating and comprehensive museum! So many aspects of the war are presented in unique ways. We had to go back a second day. We have an even greater appreciation for what the Greatest Generation did.
Absolutely loved this experience. The museum was well worth the money and had so much to see we spent the whole day there.
Plan on an entire day, The Beyond All Boundaries movie was well done and an excellent way to start the tour.
Where do I begin? I had read good things about this museum and heard raves from a good friend. Nothing prepared you for how massive the complex is and how well-designed and presented all the exhibits are. You could easily spend an entire day here, if not two. This visit was part of our group tour so I don't know what the cost would be. Our visit also included the 4D movie, which is well done. There are sections for the European Theater, Asian Theater, aircrafts, a simulated submarine and more. We picked dog tag cards and followed the chronological journeys of individuals who were involved. Unfortunately, I never found the final station for my soldier. There is a soda shop, restaurant and plenty of gift store merchandise. This museum is a treasure and not to be missed.
This museum is the best. It is a lot to take in and I wished we would have scheduled an extra day to be able to finish all of it. It is very well laid out and covers each part of WWII. I believe everyone should go to the WWII Museum in New Orleans.
This is one of the best run museums I have ever been too. It is jammed packed with comprehensive exhibits — some that are very experiential. I felt like I was in a jungle at one point. The tour guide Aime was so smart and was sure to point out things that would be of special importance to the people on the tour. We also saw the Beyond Boundaries movie experience and were blown away. This place is beautiful — from architecture to artifacts.
The museum was fantastic. Can’t wait to go back and spend more time.
I wish we'd had a week to spend here. This place is amazing, though emotionally draining. Much of the building is decorated to look as though you're really there, with bombed-out buildings, the hidden bookcase at the Anne Frank section, bunkers, etc. The Tom Hanks film in 4-D will break your heart, but don't miss it. It's fabulous. My father was stationed in England with at B-24 crew. They were involved in the fire bombings at Prague and Dresden, and part of the air cover at Normandy. He wouldn't talk about it, and I have a much better understanding now of why. I hope that younger generations will visit so that they understand the sacrifices that are necessary to maintain our freedom. If we're ever back in New Orleans, we will pay another visit.
Love learning about historical events. This is well worth it. The 4D movie was excellent and should be done first.
Spend all day, possibly spend two! There is so much good information, so many stories that deserve to be heard. See the movies. Bring tissues. Don’t let history repeat itself.
Beautiful but HUGE museum, you will need a full day to effectively see everything. Well worth the money and trip!!
Well done museum- learned much more about the Pacific war with Japan. My father stationed in Guam and Philipines
Loved it. Very humbling experience. We only had the afternoon so didn’t see all. We will come back and finish on our next trip.
This is an amazing experience about WWII history. It is well worth the time and money to visit the museum. Don't miss Beyond all Boundaries.
There is SO MUCH to see; you can easily spend more than a day! We were happy with what we saw in the 5 hours we had. The 4D movie is excellent! I took away 1 star because the food in the cafe is crazy expensive! A premade turkey sandwich and bag of chips was $12-14 before taxes or a drink!
