Great tour of the bayou! It was sprinkling the day of the tour but that didn't stop us since there was plenty to see. The spanish moss, the water passageways were just as beautiful than I could possibly imagined, we even saw alligators! This was my husband's first time to the swamp, and hasn't stopped talking about it since!

Although called a lake, this is actually a large lagoon and brackish estuary fed by fresh water rivers and connected to the Gulf of Mexico. Covering 630 square miles (1600 km2) it is one of the largest wetlands in North America.
View the spillway, a flood control operation in the Lower Mississippi west of New Orleans. The spillway, when open, allows floodwaters from the Mississippi River to flow into Lake Pontchartrain and thence into the Gulf of Mexico.
This privately owned wildlife refuge ensures that you won’t encounter any other boats during your peaceful journey into the swamp. Local Cajun captains share personal tales of their own swamp explorations and fascinating information on the plants and wildlife you'll encounter. The primitive beauty of moss draped cypress tress and abundant wildlife guarantees some amazing pictures! Enjoy a beverage and snack from the open air pavilion.

So awesome. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable about the plantations and the history behind them. He told the history honestly, as it should be. I unfortunately became sick and could not participate with the swamp tour but my friends told me the boat captain was knowledgeable and personable. I’m really sorry I missed it.
All day trip to Whitney Plantation and swamp tour. Very clean bus and great commentary. Plenty of time to enjoy both activities. Thanks to Kate H. And Cindy for a great tour.
Joanne was fabulous. Knowledgeable and friendly. Totally enjoyable. The plantation was extremely well planned and important.
It was really a great day! The tour guide on the bus was super informative and friendly. The self guided tour at Whitney was very well done and the swamp tour guide was out of this world hilarious and fun. All in all a seamless experience with pickup and drop off.
Swamp tour was a waste of money. More boar and raccoons then alligators. Drove a round in circles for an hour. Did not see much of the swamp
First, I came from NJ to celebrate my bday. Danny was hilarious from the moment we met him until he fed the last gator a marshmallow. He even set straight a trespasser, protecting the land and animals.
Whitney Plantation was beautiful in a heavy way. Love that it’s a self guided tour & well preserved. The swamp boat tour is awesome. Second time going on the swamp tour and second time having Dustin as the captain. He’s super fun and engaging with the group. Absolutely worth the money to see both places.
What a GREAT experience! Our tour guide Robert S and Bus driver Alton were both excellent. Robert has great stories, immense knowledge and informative history. The vbus was extremely comfortable, clean, air conditioned andxwith a bathroom onboard. Of the two plantations, Oak Alley was more of a must see. The Whitney plantation was more historical from the perspective of slaves. The swamo boat ride was FANTASTIC! I have been on many airboat type toyrs but this one was by far the best I have ever been on. We saw many alligators, birds, turtles, fish, racoons abd wild boars. Our Captain was Dustin. He was just great in every way. We so enjoyed that part of the trip. What a great day for a great cost
The self-guided Whitney tour was good, well paced and very interesting. The Swamp tour was a bit touristy and the background music was unnecessary and distracting. Great day tour. Bring water, none available on the bus.
It was very educational! The Whitney Plantation told the true story of the southern plantations not the sanitized version! The swamp tour was very fun, we saw alligators, wild boar, and raccoons! The captain was very entertaining.
Great tour. Thomas at the swamp very funny and told us all about the crocodiles. Val our guide on the bus was very knowledgeable and interesting. She told us all about the history of New Orleans and which local food to try.
The experience was exciting and informative. I enjoyed the tour guide and the information provided. Thanks!
Very well curated with our guide, John. He provided a lot of insight and backstory on our way to our destinations with some added humor for good measure
This was a fabulous tour. Our guide Robert was incredibly funny, informative and friendly making the tour so much better. The Whitney plantation tour was great with the audio guide to inform you at each step. You do get to visit oak alley which is very picturesque it can’t comment on that tour. The swamp tour with captain Danny was so fun! We saw alligator and was able To feed them amongst other animals (not wanting to give too much away) you won’t regret this tour it was probably one of the best things we did while visiting New Orleans.
Awesome. Swamp was great.. the tour guide was very knowledgeable.. would definately go again. We had an amazing time
Jane and Donald were a great guide and driver duo. Whitney plantation was informational and sobering so it paired well with the fun experience of the swamp ride. We saw lots of gators, pigs, raccoons and turtles.
Family with 2 teenagers. We enjoyed the Whitney Plantstion tour very much. It was moving and very educational for all of us. We absolutely LOVED the swamp boat tour with Captain Dan. It was pouring rain at first and that added to the magic. The swamp was beautiful, relaxing and teeming with interesting creatures. We saw alligators, raccoon, wild pigs and a variety of birds. It was magical.
Captain Dustin was great, funny and has a great play list by the way. He is really entertaining if you have a sense of humor this is your captain to get.
Thomas was EXCELLENT! He was so knowledgeable and seemed genuinely happy explain the "circle of life" in the swamp us. This man not only loves what he does, he LIVES it!!! Truly a treasure.
What a great experience. Our guides were amazing and so full of knowledge. Kimberly and Dominique are the dynamic duo! 10/10 recommend
iv just returned from a full day tour of whitney plantation and swamp tour great combination the trip was made even better by the very informative, super friendly tour guide robert s what a guy he was superb and driver anton was excellent definitely recommend this tour 100 percent and try to get on with robert s thanks guys
They fill the bus so if traveling with someone or a group get there early. The driver and guide were great. Captain Dustin was amazing for the boat ride
The plantation and swamp tours were great and we learned a lot, but I’m docking one star due to poor communication about lunch. We were only told upon reaching Whitney, when the guide casually asked if the group was okay skipping lunch. After 1–2 people said yes, it was assumed everyone agreed, with no real option or warning beforehand. We spent the full 9–5 day in sweltering heat with only chips and chocolate, which made the experience much harder than it should have been. Food is important on a full-day tour, and better arrangements or clearer communication should be in place.
Great day easy to find starting point Lovely tour guide and bus driver self guided tour at the plantation amazing funny boat guide on the swamp got to see gators being fed and to hold a baby gator amazing day
This tour is a great way to cover two must do experiences in one day. Kimberly was knowledgeable and engaging. She took great care of us. We learned a lot from her.
Both the swamp ride and the Whitney Plantation were really great experiences. Swamp ride was informative and the tour guide answered all questions and made sure we left informed. Whitney Plantation had me crying for all the slaves who suffered at the hands of plantation owners and the public in general. We chose Whitney for the education they provide regarding the experiences of slaves. This is a history we need to keep alive and more people need to learn! Only recommendation is that they just put a note to either bring food/snacks or be prepared to purchase at a secondary location.
Kimberly was a wealth of knowledge and paced our tour and commentary really well. She spoke on Nola history, culture, food, and drink, and she even gave out prizes and loaned power banks with various cord outlets. Definitely recommend!
a beautiful day trip! kimberly, our guide for the entire trip, was fun and engaging and shared a lot of interesting history on new orleans. the tour through the whitney plantation was very interesting and moving. a quick stop at the Oak Alley plantation (much larger than the whitney plantation) for a quick lunch and then we headed off to the swamp tour where we saw an incredible variety of animals: many aligators but also wild pigs, raccoons, turtles, birds. it was lovely. the boats have a roof too so you don't get wet even when it rains which it did occasionally on our tour.
Jane, Dominique and Thomas were all awesome! A great time was had by me , my wife, my two teenage children and my toddler.
My original booking was cancelled however I was advised in advance and was offered an alternative. We set off on time and Jane was an excellent host providing a very informative commentary on the way. As my original booking was cancelled we were actually added to another group heading to a different plantation. The coach took a short detour to drop 3 of us at the Whitney Plantation as per my original booking. I felt very looked after and fully informed of the arrangements. The Whitney Plantation was an amazing experience and worthy of being in anyone’s itinerary. It was a self guided tour and easy to follow. The only downside was a turn in the weather which meant I had to move through the areas a little quicker than I would have liked but overall a great experience. The coach came back to collect us at the agreed time and we were driven to meet the rest of the coach party at Oak Plantation where we had ample time to obtain refreshments. Onwards from there we headed for the swamp tour. Whilst the swamp vehicle wasn’t what I was expecting it was a great trip nonetheless and our boat operator was excellent . We did get to see the alligators and other swamp wildlife and a great time was had .
Robert your guide was fabulous ! Very informative and pleasant . Bus driver did a great job as well !
We went to Whitney Plantation, which focused on the slaves' experience, and then a swamp tour in a boat. Jane was an excellent guide, narrating all kinds of historic information, and the driver did an excellent job as well. We were very satisfied.
Our guide Kimberly and our driver Alton were awesome. Kimberly shared she has a background in education and it shows. She was thorough and interactive and knew how to work a crowd! She was a delight and we followed her protip... I got a muffalata to travel with and it was soooo good! I would recommend the tour based on our experience with your team!
Our tour guide Kimberly was very nice and knowledgeable. Alton the driver was also very nice and a safe driver. We were dropped off at Whitney plantation and had plenty of time to the the entire tour with the audio guide. The swamp tour was awesome. Our guide there was funny and let us hold a baby alligator.
Very interesting and well organised tour. Kate and Glen, very professional and attentive. We really enjoyed.
Melinda and Kate our driver, tour guide and now friends from Grey Line were amazing💙 The Whitney Plantation was the absolute highlight amongst a 5 star day
It’s fantastic, don’t worry about not seeing any alligators, you’ll see more than you can count. Ethan made out tour exciting, informative and funny! Love that guy!! Cute too!!
Our guide was very experienced and knew everything about the history of New Orleans, the plantations as well as the city itself and it’s culture.
The guide was great. His knowledge of the swamp was great. He was entertaining and he answered questions. Well worth our time.
Very professional, beautiful clean bus, very organized and on time. The guide was very knowledgeable and communicated directions clearly. 100% would recommend.
Great experience! Lots of gators and other wild life. Tom the boat guide was very knowledgeable. John the tour guide was entertaining and gave a good history lesson on New Orleans. Very clean bus. Very prompt and organized. Would highly recommend.
Amazing! Saw a ton of wildlife ! Tour guide was excellent and hilllarous! Witney Plantation was a strong emotional experience.
The plantation tour was very interesting and informative about the history and culture in that time periods.
I highly recommend the Whitney plantation. It focuses on the history and legacy of slavery that many gloss over. The audio tour is fabulous. The swamp tour with Captain Dan was fun and exciting! We saw many alligators, racoons, wild hogs and some birds.
Very kind steamboat company; given my inability to take the tour on the scheduled day, they made proposals to reschedule the booking. Punctual, means of transport, bus, clean and comfortable, guide available and pleasant in her storytelling. Everything well organized
The guide is exclusively English-speaking. I am French and did not understand anything of the explanations that seemed very informative. Perhaps consider a day for a French-speaking guide. The time is too short to visit the Whitney plantation. The bayou tour is too short. We quickly turned back. The fact of feeding animals with sweets to attract them was quite shocking.
