Itinerary
An Intimate Experience in the French Quarter, we are famous for our Shrimp Boils. Step away from the tourist crowds and join us for authentic local dishes and stories. Enjoy this opportunity to experience it as a VIP, with a small group and Mister Gregory himself preparing your meal. The experience features a multi-course menu, storytelling and live music. The Shrimp Boil Experience might begin with a tasting of fresh caught fish from Lake Pontchartrain or a local blue crab appetizer, then an alligator sausage tasting and a presentation about our wild-caught Gulf shrimp. The big moment is when we present the shrimp, cooked with local sausage and our special blend of Cajun boil seasonings. Later, we bring out hot towels to clean up and to finish we present a signature dessert and a tasting of New Orleans style chicory cafe au lait. Please join us for a lovely meal, make some new friends and eat the very best shrimp in the world!

Food was delicious. Entertainment excellent. Great environment. Fun and knowledgeable host A must when visiting New Orleans
Considering this? DO IT! food was great! Music even better! The entire experience is EXACTLY what a newbie needs if visiting New Orleans. Meeting location felt odd at first but, the bar occupants and guests were super friendly and fun!
We loved the food, the stories, the live music, and the atmosphere. It felt like so much more than just a meal. We’ve been coming to New Orleans for the last decade and have done just about every tour and experience you can think of and this one was one of my favorites. Grey sources fresh ingredients locally and prepares them with so much care. Before the main menu, you get to taste several different dishes. Every course was fantastic, and Greg’s stories about the food were fun, interesting, and made the whole experience special. It was such a lovely, intimate setting. (Slow season) Zarina and Stanley were wonderful entertainers with amazing voices. Highly recommend! And definitely bring your appetite. You will be VERY well fed! 😂
Such an amazing time, delicious food, and fun music! Will recommend to go everyone to check it out. They will not regret it!!
We didn’t know what to expect, but this experience was truly one of the best we’ve ever had! Gregory is a great host and explained all the dishes before bringing them out. He is a great cook! We were taken into a historic building and were serenaded by an easy going bluesy duo on Bass Fiddle and steel guitar. We liked that it was BYOB too! We HIGHLY recommend this experience!! We left feeling full and made new friends.
Really wish i could leave zero stars. Please dont waste your money. Im currently working with viator and my card company to get our money back. We were a group of four and spent $109 EACH on nothing! One supposed crab appetizer that had no crab, only breading. The shrimps from the shrimp boil were soggy and flavorless. There was nothing here that amounted to more than 20-30 bucks total. We had several dinners that cost half the price and were phenomenal! The operator was even charging $50 for people who came in off the street at the last minute! I really hope anyone reading this chooses wiser than I did when I booked it.
I was stood up. I went early as was suggested. NO ONE showed up. No phone call, no email. I called many numbers, one disconnected, the other, left 4 messages to owner no return call. Texted Viator 4 times, no response. Terrible that they could not even let me know it was canceled.
What an amazing evening! The food was delicious and the music was the perfect match. We had samplings of food items we never knew of. Come hungry and be prepared to leave stuffed!
I had a good time. The chef was humorous and knowledgeable. The music was very pleasant. I sat with a couple that were repeat customers. It was his birthday and their anniversary. We sang 3 versions of Happy Birthday. The normal one, the New Orleans one, and the Gospel one. It was worth the money.
This was such a great experience. My boyfriend and I loved it. It was an intimate experience with great food and great music. Would absolutely recommend!
In a small intimate setting, we were delighted to have Mister Gregory prepare, serve and describe several entrees which were delicious! We also had music performed by a solo guitarist. The room was eccentric and quirky which added to the ambiance. We highly recommend this! Come hungry.
for us the food was a bit disappointing. the advertisement showed an outdoor bbq and this was held in a very small hole in the wall. it was byob and the music was a single guitarist. he was good but not what we expected. it was pricey for what we got.
Mister Gregory made this experience so much fun! The food was delicious! Highly recommend this experience!
Very unique experience in NOLA. Gregory was very kind and entertaining. We enjoyed his local stories. The entertainment was fun! Not all of the food was to my liking but my husband loved it! Lots of shrimp and the dessert was very good. Overall a fun and interesting experience!
Second time attending and wasn't disappointed. Mister Gregory, his boil and his staff were WONDERFUL. To be completely honest, the food and conversation with other guests made it difficult to enjoy the couple who sang as the entertainment.
Absolutely fantastic! We thoroughly enjoyed it! Great music, great food, great hosts! Would definitely recommend & would love to do this again!
Our group of 12 cousins from California had a wonderful experience at this shrimp boil. We enjoyed the delicious meal, the talented musicians, the excellent staff, and the culinary knowledge and hospitality of our host. After reviewing all the fun things we did on our trip to New Orleans, everybody said this was a great highlight of our trip. We’ll definitely be back.
If you want to experience true southern hospitality, great food and entertainment, this experience is the best. Can’t recommend enough.
We attended the Shrimp boil and it was amazing. Sat next to a couple who live 10 minutes from us in Michigan—great conversation, small world moment. Food was top-tier and homemade from scratch. Each course was explained by Chef Gregory with history behind it, which made the experience even better. Music was incredible—live duo that’s well known in New Orleans and really set the vibe. Favorite dish: maque choux with a slice of alligator sausage—chef’s kiss. Shoutout to Larry, he did his thing. If I ever see this tour again, book it—unforgettable experience.
Excellent experience! The food, the close atmosphere, the music, it was perfect. Gregory is the best, Larry is the best, everything. Highly recommend, felt like a secret new Orleans spot.
Come hungry! What a perfect evening spent in New Orleans…amazing food, the chef was personable & shared the history of the dishes with us. The musical entertainment was top notch & truly added to the meal. I wish I could give this more than 5 stars. If you’re on the fence about booking - BOOK IT! You will not be disappointed!
This was such a unique and amazing experience. Mister Gregory’s food was delicious and flavorful. And Stanley Roy has such a beautiful voice and loved his songs to use while we ate. Both are beautiful souls. Highly recommend!!
The dinner was delicious, the music was so enjoyable, and the information and conversation shared during the meal made it an unforgettable evening.
Had an awesome experience at the boil. A truly authentic experience. Everything had that perfect home cooked taste from the appetizers to the main course. The shrimp super fresh and were still swimming the night before. My wife and I enjoyed the experience, the band, and more importantly the food. Will definitely be back next time
Shrimp Boil Cabaret was an unprecedented experience. I'm glad I listened to the reviews. Greg was responsive, personable, accommodating, knowledgeable, and an incredible chef and host. The band created that Big Easy ambience. The group was fun and lively. We didn't want to leave. I highly recommend this experience, especially to first-timers.
We thoroughly enjoyed the food, music and host. Greg was authentic, knowledgeable and fun. Come hungry and ready to learn some interesting facts about New Orleans food and traditions. Highly recommend!
Food and live music were excellent. Learned interesting facts about local seafood. Meal was four courses that included crab, alligator, shrimp, and dessert. I was especially appreciative of them addressing my wife’s gluten-free (Celiac) requirements. I will be back.
This was really a unique and fun experience. Great stories woven through a meal with music by a local performer. Purely magical evening!
Absolutely unforgettable. Hands down one of the most incredible dining experiences we’ve ever had. This seafood boil was beyond insane — every single dish was executed with so much care, flavor, and soul. From the very first course, we were blown away. The shrimp course was one of our favorites of the night — perfectly cooked, deeply flavorful, and the kind of dish that immediately makes you want the recipe (which I am still dreaming about). The oyster course was another standout — fresh, bold, beautifully balanced, and honestly one of the best oyster preparations I’ve ever had. I would happily fly back just for those two courses alone. Every single person involved was so warm and genuinely lovely, but the host was truly exceptional. Being welcomed into his home made the experience feel intimate, special, and incredibly authentic — something you just can’t replicate in a restaurant. There was so much generosity, passion, and love poured into the evening, and you could feel it in every detail. We’re from Australia, and this was our last night in New Orleans, and I honestly can’t imagine a better way to end our trip. We felt so grateful just to be there, sharing this experience, and it’s a night we’ll never forget. And then — the dessert. Wow. I am not a dessert person at all. Normally I’ll take a polite bite and be done. I finished the entire dessert. Every bite. That alone should tell you how incredible it was. Truly impressive. Thank you for such a magical, unforgettable evening. This wasn’t just a meal — it was an experience, a memory, and a perfect farewell to New Orleans. We’re so grateful. ❤️🦐🦪✨
This was our favorite experience in New Orleans. I love food experiences like this—where you don’t just eat incredible food, but also learn about the history of the regional cuisine and hear the stories of how everything makes its way to your table. We started with a crab gratin made with crabs from Bayou La Batre (yes, like Bubba), followed by alligator sausage and a crawfish sweet potato topped with a rich, buttery sauce. The pièce de résistance was the shrimp boil: gigantic brown shrimp, fresh off the boat, cooked to perfection and impeccably seasoned. I could actually taste the clove, which added a wonderful depth of flavor I hadn’t experienced in a boil before. Dessert was a traditional Christmas bouille—lightly sweet and the perfect way to end the meal. We don’t eat pork, and Gregory accommodated us seamlessly with advance notice. The Slick Skillet Serenaders added to the atmosphere with their traditional tunes, making the whole evening incredibly fun. I would do this once a week if I could. Thank you, Gregory!
This was our favorite thing we did while in New Orleans. Mister Gregory is amazing! He is a fabulous chef and the food was incredible. The music was so good!
This was so much fun and so delicious! Stories, music, and truly wonderful food. Thank you for a fabulous experience!
This was a truly special experience- both the meal, the chef and his explanations of the meal, and the 2 great blues musicians made this a truly special evening. Each dish was special, with very interesting explanations by the chef, Mister Gregory, and as for the main course (the shrimps, with corn and sausage), be prepared to get down and dirty!) We loved the meal and the experience.
Be prepared to sit back, relax, and enjoy an authentic experience. Between the entertainment and cuisine experience, if you only do 1 thing in n NOLA, this is it!
Come hungry, you will be served by Mister Gregory a ton of VERY RICH food! The Blue Crab appetizer was amazing - had a ton of butter.
This is an authentic cajun meal with a bit of history mixed in. There was a live band, and the host was very gracious and friendly. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is small and intimate. Very personal feel. We had a tasting of three dishes before the shrimp was brought out and then dessert. At the end we got to meet their dogs too! The food is delicious and spicy. We will be back! Thank you Mr. Gregory.
Such a unique experience. The food was wonderful and made by the chef who runs the experience. The music was great. Give it a try, you won't forget it!
Wonderful host, good food, terrific music, friendly atmosphere. Ade this a memorable experience. Will do again.
The food was delicious and authentic. Our chef/host was charmingly entertaining and the band set the mood for the best dining experience we had in New Orleans.
Fantastic food, great entertainment and a wonderful experience. The chef is entertaining himself and explains everything about the food. Music entertainment with some of the best I had seen on my whole week in New Orleans.
Gregory was a spectacular host!! Setting was awesome great music and Gregory was interactive during the dinner!! The food was excellent!! This is a must do in New Orleans!!
ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS! Love the setup, very homie & personal! SUCH A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE! We will be back with more friends & family!
What a fun evening of great food and music. A special experience that I would highly recommend. Food portions were perfect.
This was a fabulous experience from start to finish. Great entertainment and the food was outstanding! The chef shared stories about the food; where it was from and how it was prepared. We loved this experience and can't recommend it highly enough!!
This is an exceptionally prepared meal. Prepare to be impressed. Mr. Gregory cooks all from local ingredients.
Came into town to celebrate my birthday and did not want to fight the big crowds. Found this on the site and so glad I did. It was worth the cost and would sign up to do it every visit! The host was genuine, sincere, and took pride in everything he was presenting. Having a live musician added to the wonderful atmosphere that we were welcomed into. Every course was just as delicious as the last. With family style seating, we were able to meet and visit with people outside of the state as well as the country that we became great friends with. I would highly recommend this, not only for tourist, but also for locals as we will definitely be booking this again
The shrimp boil was amazing. It was going to rain that night so we had the shrimp boil in the guide's house. The food was terrific. We had appetizers, main course, and dessert. There was more food than you could eat. It was all prepared in his kitchen and came out steaming hot. I would highly recommend this tour.
Don't judge the experience by the location or building appearance. This experience is a 10 out of 10!!
Great food from scratch with locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients. The music was by local duo keeping the Storyville tradition alive. That was special because you don't come across it often. Mister Gregory even set up a ramp to get my mom up the front steps in her wheelchair. Overall, these are people who clearly love their city and their traditions and take pride in sharing with visitors.
