Itinerary
I found my success as a guide, with a belief that the best tours are craft, even a bit of art. Let me help you connect with the great city of New Orleans, by sharing tales of old and examining its drinking legacy. We’ll walk cobbled alleys, and listen to ghost stories as classic as the libations you'll be sipping upon. I've created an evening of documented ghosts, city history, drinking yarns, and Voodoo. I'll tie it all together into a cohesive experience of chills, laughs, and must-have drink suggestions. This is still well-researched history, but made fun. Let me save you from the dull recitation of New Orleans' bullet points: I put on a show. There will be no capes, no blurry photos, and no vampire tales. I use stories that are historically sourced – which makes this tour far more frightening. By using actual stories, from the cultures that created this city, you will begin to unravel what makes New Orleans so special. The tour is designed for the curious, people who wish to understand the places they visit and share drinks with fellow travelers. Don't confuse this with the party-crawls. This is a professional drinking event - a genuinely full tour.

So much fun! Great history, great cocktails and John is an excellent storyteller and guide. A++
I loved everything about this experience. John was funny, interactive, and clearly a local. I’ve been on a good amount of tours in the past so I was expecting to know all the stories but John truly knows the history of new Orleans and how to tell a vivid story. One aspect I truly appreciated was that he wasn’t trying to sell us on spooky tall tales. He was simply recounting historical events and several eye witness statements. We had some locals on the tour and even they learned something new and were impressed with the “hole-in-the-wall” bars that he brought us to. The last bar was such a chill vibe that me, my bf, and other tour goers stayed for hours enjoying the drinks and the good conversations. I also appreciated the fact that he would make an avid effort to keep us separated from the other tours. Definitely made the experience less noisy and crowded. My only “problem” is that John tends to speak very fast. I was able to keep up fairly easily, but if you have a hard time with rapid talking then maybe this tour isn’t for you. But other than that 15/10 experience you will not regret it, I mean if even the locals are impressed then you know it has to be worth every penny.
Great story teller about the history of New Orleans. John backs everything up with facts and makes it entertaining
John was an amazing tour guide! He gave us great insight into the history of New Orleans and took us to some amazing bars that served incredible drinks. What made the tour especially memorable was that we didn’t just learn about the ghosts and haunted history of New Orleans—we also learned about the fascinating history of cocktails and got to enjoy some of New Orleans’ original drinks. John was knowledgeable, entertaining, and made the entire experience so much fun. I highly recommend this tour, especially if you want to experience New Orleans’ history, ghost stories, and cocktail culture all in one!
John was great and passionate about sharing his knowledge. He loves the history of the stories he shares and has researched his topics well. Well worth our time spending an evening with John.
Very odd experience and a pretty big let down for our bachelorette party. Before the tour even began we all received a text telling us not to “pregame” or be drunk when we arrive. Not that we would, but it was an odd way to start a pub crawl tour. We then began the tour with no spooky stories and being brought to a bar where you had to get the exact drink the tour guide said, even if you don’t like it. The tour guide then asked if we wanted to leave when we didn’t want to drink brandy. We ended up leaving and getting a refund and finding a better tour where fun was a priority. Overall odd experience and kind of a let down for our first tour in New Orleans.
John the your guide was wonderful! Trust me, it was one of the best ghost tours we have been on!
John seems like an amazing guy however the whole tour felt very rehearsed, cheesy and not interactive at all. If he just spoke to us and told us stories to spook us that would've been great. Though it felt like he was speaking straight from a script. I felt the tour spoilt 1 night out of the 2 nights we had in New Orleans - and I lost faith in the whole ghost tour companies because of this experience. If so many people have given 5 stars I wonder how the other tour companies are.
John was awesome! He had great stories and is very knowledge about NOLA. Highly recommend this tour.
John was a knowledgeable, captivating, and fun guide. Informative and unique tour coupled with a great drinking experience. His bar stops were unique locations I likely wouldn’t have thought to visit. His connections got us reduced prices for unique cocktails and/or reserved seating with great ambiance and music.
This tour began promptly at 8 PM and finished at 10 PM. We went to various locations and were offered discounted drinks at each location. The group was small as he does not take more than 18 people which made the experience more intimate. The drinks were good but the star of the show of course is John. He is essentially a search engine of New Orleans history and can answer any questions you may be curious about. Not only is he very informed, but tells the stories in a way that captivates you. Without a doubt, a very great tour and worth every $. Absolutely recommend if you're in New Orleans especially on your first day as that's how I did it.
I didn’t really care for this tour. I didn’t really care for the tour guys stories or his mannerisms, was very acted out like he was on stage as an actor someone might like it, I just prefer a more professional historian type of tour guide. I didn’t care for the pub stops . Lots of walking three different pubs, interesting different drinks but two of them I didn’t care for, but that was my deal. You can order whatever you want. just didn’t do anything for me.
John is an incredible historian. He is fluent in all things NOLA and really passes on as much info as you want. He’s also a GREAT storyteller
Amazing story teller! He had so many good stories! He combined historical facts and New Orleans lore which made a very entertaining and enjoyable tour! The bars and unique cocktails we were able to drink made the tour unforgettable!
This was our favourite tour we did in New Orleans - John was an incredible guide. As he led us around the streets of the French Quarter, he told us the history of the people through extremely well researched narratives, which he delivered in character. His passionate delivery kept us captivated from beginning to end and we learned alot. He linked the stories to different pubs, most of which were local gems and had a part in developing the cocktails unique to NOLA. There was no pressure in purchasing any drinks, or having anything you didn't want to, but having cocktails made to the original recipe, having John deliver them, and then share in a relaxing moment so we could enjoy them made the evening really special. Having time to get to know the other tour guests, sharing a drink, travel stories and experiences made the night one to truly remember. Thanks so much John.
John knew his history. The stories he told were from history, written in books dated in the 1800’s. And he told them with his eyes as he shared them with us. Want Vampire tales this is NOT your tour. Want history on drinks from the past and true ghost stories YES he is the one.
Great narrated tales while touring the historic French Quarter. The Guide was amazing, animated, personable. Fantastic cocktail recommendations along the way.
Fun time. Interesting stories. John was great. Passionate about his work.
John is mild mannered at first meeting, but when the bell rings, it's showtime. He tells personally curated, far-from-generic macabre stories with a hauntingly dramatic flair. He knows a lot about NOLA and takes his guests immersion and enjoyment seriously. The pubs he chose are intimate and tantalizing - and you're not likely to stumble upon them on your own. A+
He really does his research about the ghost stories, which I really appreciated! He specializes in New Orleans stories and is extremely passionate. Would definitely support this small business and he keeps the customers’ best interests at heart!
John was absolutely amazing!!! We had an incredible time! This is a must do tour! This was our girls trip and we all highly recommend it!
John was such a great storyteller, truly passionate about the stories and history of the French quarter- does his own research and not one of those rinse and repeat big groups. Intimate group, about 15 that are all friendly. Amazing time!
Max amount of people: 17, compared to others who have 28. Theatrical flair with historical significance (can cite sources). Best storyteller!
Our tour guide was wonderful. Great storyteller and kept the tour super fun and interesting. We love the smaller group feel too and we had lots of opportunities to meet new people. The alcohol and the stories that goes with them are cherry on top.
We did the cocktail and ghost tour as a group of nine for my bachelorette party. John was so fun and knowledgeable. He gave us great historical background for the stories, citing multiple sources while still keeping things light and entertaining. The cocktails were great and we loved the context behind their popularity. It was a great experience that I’d recommend to anyone looking to explore New Orleans, learn a bit more about its history, and lean into the spooky vibes with a drink in hand.
Having the right tour guide is critical to the tour and John was amazing. Me and my wife would do more tours with him. He was engaging, knowledgeable and ensured that everyone was involved with the tour. As we walked around he pointed out areas of interest and discussed the details of each place we visited. Details such as the compass on the ceiling of the first place we toured to the rectangular plaque the shows the place was identified as having paranormal activity. He interacted with the group in a way that the group of individuals interacted with each other during and after the tour. If you want to do a tour through New Orleans, John is the person I would highly recommend.
Wow, what an incredible experience. John is brilliantly knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely funny. He shared so much insight into the culture, cocktails, history, and of course the ghost stories that make New Orleans so special. We absolutely loved this tour. It was not only entertaining but truly valuable. It deepened our appreciation for the city in a way we did not expect. I would recommend this to anyone visiting New Orleans, whether it is your first time or your hundredth. You will walk away having learned something new and with an even greater love for this beautiful, one of a kind city. 10 out of 10, do not miss this tour.
John was an excellent tour guide and was so knowledgeable about New Orleans history. The ghost stories and drinks were so great. I really enjoyed this tour and would definitely do it again. I highly recommend signing up with John!
Great experience! John was entertaining, enthusiastic, and knows his history. Every spot was filled with interesting stories and unique drinks.
This was a great experience with friends! Our guide told some really fun and interesting stories and we really enjoyed our tour!
It wasn’t what we were expecting. It was a nice walk. The host was knowledgeable, but not personable. He asked everyone to let him know what we’d like to hear more about (history, ghosts, etc.) but when I asked about ghost stories in Pirate Alley, I was dismissed. I don’t he really wanted to hear any questions. He made me feel like I didn’t understand what ghost stories were (yes, that dismissive). I know there had to have been some really cool, historical haunting a to share about Pirate Alley, but oh well! A couple stories he shared were interesting, and told with great theatrics.
Lots of fun. Knowledgeable guide. Small group. GREAT!
Guide has great historical ghost stories and recommended cocktails at each bar that connected to theme of the stories. A good, friendly, fun evening
John knew his history of New Orleans. He brought the stories to life with his creative storytelling. I felt like I was there during the story of when the events took place. John has also created great relationships with the bars you attend. Pro tip make sure to wear comfortable clothing and shoes as it is a walking tour.
John was fantastic. It was a magical and spooky evening. Highly recommend! I would take it again without hesitation.
John, the tour guide, offers a well-researched and immersive experience describing the ghosts, history, architecture, and fun facts of New Orleans in a series of stories throughout the city. He was very thoughtful and engaging, offering opportunities to ask questions at each stop.
He is very knowledgeable and very entertaining. He kept us intrigued the whole time. If you’re definitely in the city, you he must go on this tour very exciting.
Super fun experience to start your night of drinking with! The guide is very friendly and goes into great detail about the history and stories of the city. Couldn’t recommend it enough!
This was a very delightful tour. John is friendly, passionate and kind! Such a credit to this beautiful city. Kudos to him and to all the tour guests. Would definitely recommend this tour! Thanks.
Interesting and fun walking tour through the French Quarter at night visiting local bars and hearing the interesting stories of New Orleans. John is very knowledgeable about the subjects he talked about.
So fun! Guide is great and is a great storyteller. Took us to awesome bars and had good recommendations, but wasn’t pushy at all.
Very informative, a great story teller, interesting bar stops. John had a great way of delivering his carefully curated history and spooky stories.
The guide shared some amusing ghost stories as we walked around the French Quarter on New Year's Eve. Easy walk, and purchasing cocktails was optional, with non alcoholic beverages available as well. We loved the sweet bars visited!
This was AMAZING! John is passionate, informative and a complete delight. If you do only one tour, make it this one. His enthusiasm is absolutely contagious!
John is absolutely wonderful! Great ghost stories, well researched history, and cocktails with history as well! I couldn’t recommend this tour more highly! ❤️
John’s tour was highlight of our trip to New Orleans. John is a master dramatic storyteller, his stories are rooted in the cities history, he encouraged group participation, his personal warmth was uplifting, and his knowledge of the cocktails histories was so much fun. Highly recommended!
Very insightful tour from a passionate, knowledgeable and animated tour guide. John is the best and I’d give 10 stars if I could!
John is a fabulous Ghost Tour Guide! He incorporates years of research into the real stories and accounts of ghost activity in New Orleans. Fascinating information, fun tour (around 18 people max) with stops at a few very cool bars along the way. VIP treatment and a chance to sit, with no pressure to purchase beverages. John is a wealth of information - highly recommend him over the other tour operators.
Nice little tour. Small number of participants which makes it a more intimate tour. Drinks and ghosts what could be better in New Orleans. Entertaining and great company. Would recommend!
