Oak Alley Plantation is beautiful and well maintained and educational. The history of slavery needs to be told and it was done tastefully. The restaurant was very good. The airboat rides was fantastic. Educational and fun. The bus ride between the plantation and the airboats only missed a pothole or two.

Itinerary
The Oak Alley Plantation is located 70 miles or about 1 hour 10 min from the French Quarter. Travel along Great River Road and marvel at the antebellum mansions.
You will spend approximately 2 hours at the plantation. The house tour will be about 35 minutes in length. The Oak Alley plantation house tour is provided by Plantation tour guides. The remainder of your time will be spent with self-exploration of the grounds. If you use your time wisely, you can grab a sandwich at the gift shop for lunch and still have time to walk the grounds. You'll then be brought to the swamp tour dock for your next adventure.
On this tour, you will experience the best of both: an informative swamp tour and high speed thrill airboat ride. You will travel at high speeds in the airboat then slow down and stop for pictures. Your Captain will give you a tour of a life time explaining the culture, animals, and the swamps. You may even experience a close encounter with some of the local swamp life. Please note: the order of the combination tours may change based upon availability and weather.

The plantation was awesome! The main home was incredible, the number of old oak trees on the property was insane. The air boat swamp tour was incredible! Our captain was fun and the swamp was beautiful.
Good combo of learning and activity events. Easy activity level. No food is provided so grab lunch at the plantation right after the tour. Also bathroom breaks are few and far between. All our drivers and guides were fun and interesting.
Absolutely awesome experience and one of the highlights of our trip to New Orleans! The Oak Alley Plantation was beautiful, and we really enjoyed learning about the history and seeing those incredible oak trees in person. But the airboat tour was definitely the highlight! Riding through the Louisiana swamp was so much fun, and our guide was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, funny, and made the experience unforgettable. At one point, he actually got OUT of the boat and interacted with the alligators! We couldn't believe it. Seeing the alligators that close in their natural environment was incredible.
Great driver and pick up from the hotel. The ride is pretty long so bring a portable charger for the day, so many pictures to take at each location. This is a great trip that takes all day.
This was a great tour! Tour bus driver was super friendly and the guides at both the plantation and on the swamp boat were incredible!
It’s all day! The first part (plantation) is filled with history and the second part (swamp) all fun and facts.
I have been on this tour 3 times. This was my first time with my wife so i was excited for her to experience the tour. They used to be in period outfits, that's gone unfortunately, they used to tell stories about guests arriving from the Mississippi, also gone. The inside part of the tour felt rushed like the tour behind us was pushing us forward. No real commentary about the children's bedroom or master bedroom on the second floor. It's a beautiful place for sure but I wish it was like the ones in the past.
For an 8 hour adventure, you only spend about an hour at plantation and an hour and a half on the swamp boat. The rest is driving and transferring busses that typically run later than expected.
The trip was fantastic and our driver was really lovely. The plantation tour was good and the airboat was the highlight! Our driver who picked us up from our hotel was a little rude saying he had been waiting for us and we were not at the location which was incorrect - we were out front of our hotel 5 mins before our pick up window but other than that great day!
Nice bus driver! The plantation tour was informative, and the house/grounds were beautiful. The highlight of the day was the swamp tour. Great boat guide, positive experience overall.
This was worth every penny. Got to learn about the Oak Alley Plantation and its history. Also drove past the other plantations close by. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and knew his stuff! The swamp tour was alot of fun. The tour guide was awesome. He’s very knowledgeable about the bayou and the alligators. Very happy I did this tour.
Wonderful experience, fun and informative. Our driver and tour guides were friendly and engaging. I would definitely recommend these tours. It was nice to get out of the busy city for a bit and learn more about the history and landscape of the area.
Captain Be Bop is the best! Fabulous tour because he is knowledgeable and interacting. We learned so much and had so much fun because of him. For example, I had a question about flora and made a point of driving out to a spot in the swamp to explain and show the response. In my opinion, he was the perfect ambassador to share the beauty and secrets of the swamp. Additionally, he threw in friendly chatter about the local culture and fish cooking tips. Thanks Captain BeBop!!!
The experience was nice, our driver was very rude, had road rage and did not make the drive pleasant at all.
My family and I had the best experience. The tour guides were very knowledgeable in the rich history of New Orleans and the excursions we had visited. We had a wonderful time!
Very easy to book, participate in, and enjoy. Would 100% recommend to anyone visiting New Orleans with family or friends
The self guided tour at the plantation was good but not what we expected. Only house had a guided tour. The property was beautiful and the gifts hope staff so friendly. The Airboat tour was amazing but uou are taken by bus to another bus for this part of the tour. This is not explained in the booking so it was a little confusing. The airboat was absolutely hands down worth it. Captain Duey was amazing and so much fun. I would ask for him hands down
Easy pick up and well organised, our driver was great, friendly and talked along the route about the history. The plantation was amazing, gave you insight into life of the owners. The actual tour is very good, could have little more time to view certain areas. The swamp tour and small boat was brilliant, saw the alligators, the guide was very knowledgeable.
This was a great day. The plantation tour was fascinating. It is good that the reality of the past is kept for us to learn from. We must honour and give tribute to all those slaves who lived in such devastating conditions. The aliigator tour was great fun. I was very impressed by the care and respect our tour guide has for these awesome critters. I don't remember his name, but he grew up in the area, still lives there and has a teenage daughter. He was terrific. We saw lots of alligators and saw so much. I have no idea how the tour guides do not get lost in the swamp :)
This was a great experience, start to finish. The bus ride and drivers were excellent. They picked us up right near our hotel and were right on time. The plantation was lovely. It’s not a huge place to see but it gave you a great feel of what plantation life was like. The Airboat tour with the alligators I cannot say enough about! It was amazing. The guide was knowledgeable and very fun to talk to. The ride out on the water didn’t disappoint. We saw at least 10 alligators along the way and stopped on one area to see them up close. It was worth the cost of this trip for sure!!! I’d highly recommend!
First time visiting New Orleans & this combo tour was AMAZING. I liked that they offered curbside hotel pickup & our driver was super friendly. Oak Alley Plantation was beautiful & learning about the history was insightful. Mansion tour was pretty brief. If you're doing the afternoon combo tour, I recommend checking out the grounds & gift shop PRIOR to touring the "big house." That way you can get a snack before heading off to the swamp tour. The swamp tour was the best! Our guide was Dewey Bruce. He was highly knowledgeable & very funny. We saw several gators & even got to hold & pet one (named Louis). The scenery included typical Louisiana bayou imagery with low lying trees & water. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience & would highly recommend & book with this tour company again.
The tour was great. It was a beautiful plantation. The highlight was the airboat ride. Dewey worked hard to give us an excellent experience
We especially liked the swamp tour where the guide fed marshmallows to the alligators, got one close to the boat on shore, then later shared one of his own young 12" alligators where we all got to hold it and take pictures!
This tour company is very well-run. We had a fantastic time going to see the plantation. The second half of our tour was canceled due to weather. They handled it very well and we were able to reschedule for the next day.
Very interesting historical tour. Worth the time.
The plantation is beautiful with very interesting exhibits. The tour guide was pretty green and while he was okay, he was hard to hear and he spent too much time answering individuals' questions while the rest of us stood around waiting for the next room.
The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The staff at Oak Alley answered all of my questions and educated my group about life on the plantation. My large airboat swamp tour was incredibly fun. We saw many alligators. I also learned that alligators like marshmallows and have an excellent memory. I felt safe the whole time and had an excellent day. It was definitely worth the money and I will take the tour again if I'm ever back.
The drive from New Orleans is a bit long, but so worth it. The plantation was so pretty, and our guide was a wealth of knowledge. Our favorite was the swamp tour . We were able to see so many alligators, and an owl. I would definitely recommend this tour.
Very good and informative tour of the plantation. We wished we would of had at least one more hour there as there is alot to see. The air boat ride was great! It's definitely worth paying the extra for the air boat since you get closer to the alligators. Our tour guide was great and answered all our questions.
The property is beautiful, the mansion tour was very short and included the dining room, sitting area and a couple of bedrooms. The best part was the balcony views, and our guide was great. We only had a couple of hours to do the tour and look around and grab something to eat. It would be great if you were visiting multiple plantations, but it was over an hour drive for a short tour. The airboat tour was amazing! Saw lots of alligators. Captain Tray was great! Was my second airboat tour and still would highly suggest it for anyone who hasn't done it before. Lots off fun flying over the water and enjoying the bayou sites!
This was a great experience. There is a lot of driving - a little over an hour to each place. The buses were a little older so no charging ports and the air was either on or off But the tours themselves were great! If you plan to eat at the restaurant at the plantation, the 2 hours they give you there is not enough time to see anything. The airboat part was so fun! Guide was great and we got to see a bunch of alligators!
Well organised and the places visited were really worthwhile.
Drive out there as long road is very bumpy Be prepared to wait before they pick you up cause they’re picking up many guests and coordinating the pick ups so you will sit either at your hotel or on their bus waiting for another shuttle to come and bring more passengers that was the only drawback Oakley itself is absolutely gorgeous grounds
We had a great time on this tour. We got picked up and dropped off at our. The driver and all guides were very knowledgeable.
Our family of 4, enjoyed this tour. We particularly loved the airboat swamp tour and enjoyed the plantation tour as well. It was a longer drive than we wanted, which made for a full day. We were picked up from our hotel at 8:15 and didn’t return until 5:15. We got lunch at the sandwich shop at the plantation and enjoyed mint juleps!
My low low rating is not for the tour itself. The mansion is lovely, and the swamp tour is excellent. My rating is for Viator itself. The pick up point address was in an alley, the employee entrance for a hotel. The street address was in front of a very, very busy loading dock, completely unsafe. There is no reason this location should ever be used for any kind of pick up whatsoever. One block away is a major hotel, with plenty of room to pick up in front. Also, we were not even asked what hotel we were staying at. It is worth noting that every other pick up was directly in front of the participants hotels. Our driver on the return trip easily dropped us directly at our hotel. If you are booking this trip, be aware that if you are told you will be picked up on Iberville Street, you will be in front of a loading dock on a narrow narrow street with no safe place to stand. Completely unacceptable.
The combination tour of Oak Alley and the airboat ride in the Louisiana swamp was a pleasant and well organized day. We enjoyed it very much, especially not having to drive to the locations. I would highly recommend it to anyone who watched the experience.
Excellent tour. Oak alley was very interesting and very knowledgable staff; be sure to get a mint julep. The fan boat tour was awesome, so fun! Can't recommend it enough. Even the transportation was great. Thank all.
The Plantation visit was too rushed. By the time we got something to eat, there was little time to explore. There was a lot of driving - 1.5 hrs to the plantation then another 1.5 hrs to the airboats. Thankfully only 0.5 back to our hotel. The Airboat tour was terrific. Plenty of time and loads of fun. A must do when visiting NOLA
Really awesome, good value, restaurant on the property Was really good! Tour was awesome! Did swamp tour in airboat a really great day!
It was awesome. We thought the plantation was really neat yet sensitive. The air boat was way cool. Alligators awesome.
It was relaxing and educational. The swamp experience was amazing we had (I think he said his name was Jake) he almost lost his hand due to a bite. He was great explaining things and funny. I highly recommend this tour and Jake as your swamp tour guide.
Great tour guide, very informative. From our ride to the plantation and transfer to the swamp tour everyone was very pleasant. We had enough time to explore on our own and the tour guide was very informative and patient. Group size was perfect.
The swamp portion was so much fun. I wish the boys driver pointed out some of the things we passed on the way there which would have improved the experience
This was a fun trip. The tour of the house was informative. Even though it was freezing, our captain made the airboat fun.
This was such a great tour. The airboat ride around the swamp was a highlight of our entire trip. The kids were scared to go but they had a blast. Duey was fantastic!! Definitely will be back Oak alley was beautiful and lovely to see and hear the history
We really enjoyed this experience. We were picked up at our hotel on time by Reggie. He explained what to expect. The minibus was comfortable and in around a half hour we were at the airboat (we took the large airboat which sat around 15 people). Kenny drove the airboat and made sure we all had a great time. The boat ride itself was a lot of fun and we saw quite a few alligators and a bald eagle. Kenny explained a lot about alligators and the sites. Great fun and informative. After the boat it was back on the bus (30+ ? Min) to the Oak Alley Plantation. We grabbed a quick bite to eat at the cafe (get the pecan pralines) and then git a tour if the mansion by Wes who was very informative and then we toured all the otger exhibits. After that it was an hour ride back to NOLA (most of us slept). There were bathroom facilities at both the airboat and the mansion. We had a great day and highly recommend.
Swamp tour was fantastic lots of alligators tour guide very knowledgeable about the local fauna Plantation tour very nice and informative
In town for a family reunion! This combination tour was awesome. Highly recommend the airboat over the ‘tour boat’. Everyone had a great time! The tour guides were friendly and informative. You will love it!
