Tour guides were well spoken, knowledgeable and engaging. Lots of alligators on swamp tour, and Oak Alley was beautiful.

Itinerary
This covered swamp boat tour is done on a privately owned wildlife refuge, so what that means for our guests is that there are no other boats. We also do not allow hunting or fishing on our property. The guests will see the Manchac swamp as it is meant to be seen. The animals see the boats as part of their natural habitat, so they are unafraid to stay out in the open for our guests to see. Our boat captains will teach you about the animals that inhabit our swamp, as well as the way of life of the people that once called this swamp home.
Choose from Oak Alley or St. Joseph Plantation. If you select to explore Oak Alley Plantation, a National Historic Landmark, you'll take a 30-minute professionally guided tour of the "Big House” and access to the expansive grounds. This historic site is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history its inhabitants left behind. With an emphasis on its time as a working sugarcane plantation, visitors are invited to experience the exhibits, walk under the iconic Allée, interact with staff, and leave with a richer, more powerful understanding of this plantation’s history. Photography is not allowed inside the mansion.
Choose from Oak Alley or St. Joseph Plantation. If you choose to Eplore St. Joseph, you'll receive a 60-minute professionally guided tour of the "Manor Home." St. Joseph Plantation is one of the few fully intact sugar plantations in the River Parishes offering a full historical timeline from the homes' construction to the present day. In addition to the Manor Home, this site features many outbuildings for guests to explore. These include original slave cabins, a detached kitchen, blacksmith’s shop, schoolhouse, and chicken coop. Several buildings have been moved to their present-day location from other parts of the property, but most remain where they were built. Visitors often recognize familiar scenes and landscapes having served as the setting for well-known films and shows like The Skeleton Key, the Oscar-winning 12 Years a Slave, Mudbound, Underground, Roots, and Ava DuVernay’s Queen Sugar.

Amazing experience! The bus is so comfy, your guides were incredible!! Plantation was stunning & beautiful restrooms. Swamp tour blew my mind! So many gators close up. Raccoons, birds, wild boars. Etc. highly recommend!
We went out with Dustin who is quite a character. He is well-versed in how to attract the alligators and provides several opportunities to get a close look. You will also see wild pigs and raccoons which also provide amusement. This is worth a visit as you see a lot in a relatively short time.
We were really excited to do the tour and see some of the wildlife in Louisiana. The tour did not disappoint. We saw alligators, raccoons, wild pigs, plenty of birdlife and even a croc ( its a tour joke ) As part of the tour we did a plantation tour to Oak valley and even tho it is a stunning site, the reality of its history is not hidden away. We traveled as a family with our 14 year old and he even enjoyed it.
Had Dustin on the tour that guy is amazing. I loved every moment of it. We got to pet Gators and watch him feed them.
Our swamp tour with Bishop was excellent... all the alligators have been waking up from hibernation the last couple weeks... we saw so many... out tour guide was fun and entertaining. This is a must do if you come to New Orleans. I should add our bus driver gave us a tour of sites and attractions on the way to the tour!! Great for all ages!!
There were 8 of us deciding whether to do the swamp tour or Plantation tour and our friend stumbled upon this combo tour through Cajun Swamp Tours. It was a great choice for us as we got to do both activities. The swamp tour was amazing - we learned so much about life in the swamp and how important it is to protect it and the animals that live there. Our captain *Captain Allen" was very knowledgeable and a colorful character to say the least. It was very fun and relaxing as well. After the swamp tour, we went to the Oak Valley Plantation and that was absolutely amazing. Such incredible history of a bygone era. Again, our guide through the house was very knowledgeable about the history and the property. I would highly recommend this tour as you get to enjoy two very special and unique places. Thank you for a great tour Cajun Swamp Tours - one of the highlights of our trip!!!
Captain Bishop entertained and informed us for over 1.5 hours. He clearly respects the alligators and their future. We were fortunate to see over 20 alligators and Captain Bishop kept it humorous the whole time. We took this as a combination package with Gray Line tours as part of a plantation tour. Wonderful combo trip. Highly recommend it!
not bad, but the drivers expected too much on tips. On my bus, no one tips, but I did to make driver feel better. There is not too much to see.
We took the swamp plantation combo tour. The swamp tour was really great and very informative. When we finished the swamp tour we were rushed to the plantation and then we had an hour wait in line for the tour and then a 45 minute tour. There was not a lot of time to relax and enjoy the grounds or eat lunch. I can see why people choose the combo tours because it is an hour outside of New Orleans but if I had to do it again I would do the swamp tour one day ,and then see the plantations on my own or take that tour separately.
During the swamp tour, it was below expectations, as almost all alligators were hibernating (except baby ones). Captain Danny was knowledgeable about the bayou and provided us with a lot of info. The driver to the swamp was also knowledgeable and had good insight on various landmarks. However, our plantation experience was awful. We were not allocated enough time to start the tour. The driver told us that the tour began at 3:10, however, the tour did not start until 3:30, as it was a first come first serve for the tour of the house. Consequently, we missed our pickup time at at 4:15, there was nothing we could have done with the amount of time allocated, considering around 20-30 minutes was spent waiting in line for a mansion without being told to wait for it. We did not have any time to explore the rest of the plantation, include the slave houses and parts of the garden. We ran because the driver threatened to leave us when it was his own poor communication that had caused the delay. My personal recommendation is that it would have been nice know that the alligator were hibernating during the winter seasons and to have better time allocations for the different parts of the tour. I would also recommend removing the driver as it did ruin our overall experience with Cajun Pride.
Booked the day before and everything was just great. Bus picked us up right on time and excellent commentary on way to swamp tour. Capt. Bishop was very knowledgeable and entertaining on board, and we saw plenty of wildlife. Plantation tour was good and Oak Alley is amazing.
We decided to do the tour only the day before going. I needed to clarify our pickup as our hotel wasn’t listed so I rang the company and they were amazingly helpful. Bus was spot on time and everything was clockwork. Bayou was the highlight. Capt Bishop was very entertaining and knowledgeable on the swamp boat. Thoroughly recommend this part of the trip. Plantation tour was good and the self guided bits were interesting.
Captain Allen was amazing! So smart! He taught me so much about Aligators and I appreciated it. He did the best tour I could have asked for!
We did the swamp tour and Oak Alley Plantation. It was a freezing cold day so there weren't many alligators around, but our swamp tour guide Tom brought his little friend PeeWee out on the boat which was an amazing experience. Being able to go straight to the plantation afterwards was super convenient. Oak Alley was beautiful and we were really impressed about how open and educational they were about the dark slavery history at the plantation. It was great being able to see more of Louisiana whilst we visited New Orleans. The hotel pick up and drop off was super convenient and the buses were incredibly comfortable.
We did the swamp tour + Oak Valley Plantation tour. It was an awesome way to see more of Louisiana and the history of this area outside of NOLA. Our tour guide on the swamp tour, Captain Bishop, was amazing! He kept us entertained the entire time by his sense of humor and facts about the wildlife. He was clearly very passionate about what he does. We saw many gators and got to hold a baby gator!
We did the swamp tour and Oak Alley Plantation, and it was an absolutely wonderful day. Getting to explore the swamp and see some of the land outside of the city was such a treat, and although I don't remember our swamp tour guide's name, he was amazing and I loved his tour. We also got to hold a baby alligator, which was such a fun bonus! Oak Alley plantation is beautiful and I also highly recommend that. Such a great tour!
Enchanting visit to the Destrahan Plantation and Swamp tour. I wish we'd had a bit more time on the plantation, but it's a nice, educational tour. Being an animal lover, I LOVED the swamp tour. Cap't Tom is a true Cajun and delightful tour guide. Our tour guide on the bus trip was a 3 generation NOLA native, very knowledgable about NOLA. Great trip if you want to get away from the noise of the city!
We arrived to our boat and captain Bishop was the best guide we could ever hoped for. He was funny, full with knowledge and showed us a good time. After the swamp tour big Joe gave us a ride to the plantation and he was also telling us the history and had great jazz music! The plantation was very pretty and we loved the view from the balcony of the main house. Overall- beat day!!!
During our 8 day stay in New Orleans we wanted to visit the “swamp” and a plantation. Cajun Pride had a good combination for this. The visit to the swamp/bayou was first followed by Oak Alley Plantation. We had a prompt hotel pickup (well worth it as it is approx. 35 minutes out of the city and then another 30 to the plantation). Captain “Tom” gave us a great authentic tour of the swamp, with lots of local flare. Our guide at the plantation also added her local knowledge as well. Excellant value for the cost.
The bayou tour was great. Captain Bishop was entertaining and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend Cajun Pride and Gray Line Tours.
Our swamp guide was hilarious and gave fact after fact. It was brilliant, lots of fun and lots of alligators. The plantation was a interesting and sad. An insight into the past
Great company with friendly staff, on-time pickup in a clean air conditioned mini-motorcoach close to our hotel. The tour guide / boat captain was excellent, lots of info on the history and life on the swamp. Got up close and personal with the alligators and other swamp critters, mom loved it. Included was a tour of the Oak Alley plantation, informative walk through the main house (lots of steps and walking, mom got pretty tired). If you don't need hotel pickup, the company's departure point is easy to find right off the main highway with lots of parking.
K.P. and Big Joe were amazing drivers taking us to the tour. they gave us insight on the area as we drive through and made the trip very pleasant. Cameron at Laura and Nolan on the swamp tour provided excellent education. Great way to spend a day. Very stress free!
