Exciting, a little scary with the “gators” so close to the boat, but altogether an entertaining and informative excursion. Glad that I did it, was worth it indeed.

Itinerary
As our slow-moving pontoon boat drifts through the waterways, you will learn about Louisiana Wetlands, the inhabitants of the swamp, particularly the life and habits of the American Alligator, as well as the unique history of the Cajun town of Frenier within the Manchac Swamp. Swamp creatures, seeing our boats daily, recognize them as part of their normal environment. Unafraid and responsive to their boat captain's call, they peek out from underbrush and between moss-draped trees and shrubs, frequently coming directly to the boat. In the safety and comfort of the boat, you can actually come within a few feet of jumping alligators.

amazing experience, our guide was a older gentleman with a good sense of humor and a lot of interesting information to share
Captain Duane keep entertained up with history and music. We seenalot of wildlife and gators. We did a swamp tour in Florida and this tour beat it hands down. Well worth it.
Second time on this tour and still highly recommend. Great experience.
Captain Dustin was amazing, very knowledgable, very funny and we saw so much…. Gators, raccoons, wild boar… absolutely amazing. Highly recommended
Thank you to Captain Dustin for an incredible tour. This has been the highlight of my mums and my 4 weeks vacation in the USA. Dustin was so informative, funny and engaging. I really appreciate all he did on the tour to keep us all safe and ensure we all had a great time. The music was great too!
Loved the service, the captain, the ride! I can guarantee you'll see all sorts of wildlife and get up close and personal with some beautiful alligators! It was such an exp that od do it again.
Such an amazing experience, captain Dustin was great!
This was the highlight of our trip! Dustin was our guide and was the perfect person to do it! Try to get on his boat if you can. We loved the music, watching him interact with alligators, hold in a baby gator!, feeding raccoons, and the commentary. It was so much fun!
Thomas was a great guide! We would definitely do it again.
The swamp tour was much more fun than we anticipated- our guide was engaging, full of knowledge and a full entertainer. We saw lots of animals and got to experience them in their natural habitat. Lots of fun!
CAPTAIN DUSTIN IS THE BEST!! He made the swamp tour an experience! He taught us cool facts about the swamp and the natural life that resides there all while making us laugh. On this tour you will get to see Captain Dustin FEED the ALLIGATORS and get a close up on all the animals that live there including birds, raccoons, and boars. This swamp tour is worth every penny and the best one I’ve been to speaking from past experiences here in Nola.
We had a wonderful experience learning about all the birds and animals of the Manchac swamp and the history of it and the people that lived there. Our guide was very knowledgeable about everything associated with the area.
A great relaxing boat ride through the swamps. We saw many alligators, wild boars, raccoons and birds. The tour guide fed alligators and that was pretty cool. We were able to hold a baby gator!
I was very impressed with the tour. We saw lots of alligators, racoons, and Hogs. We also saw several different types of birds native to the area. Captain Danny did a great job on the tour, highlighting many of the things for us to see. He also had small live turtles, and a small live alligator. He had several other nature items to handle while on the boat. They also had a nice gift shop with items for sale. I highly recommend this tour !
Well worth a visit, Captain Dustin with his skilful handling of the craft and his interesting and humorous commentary was superb. The highlights being his “call signal” to get the animals to come for their food treats, plus his hand feeding of the alligators. A must do if you are in the area.
Such an amazing experience. Our tour guide name was tom( sasquache) and he was phenomenal. He was so knowledgeable about the history of the swamp. For being a louisianna local and all the stories he knew was informative. He even gave us some background as far as the Spaniards and all other foreigners. We also saw so much wildlife from gators, to hogs, and raccoons, etc. It was just super neat the get to experience this with our large group. They were so accommodating! Highly recommend they tour!
We had such a great time on our Cajun Pride tour! I'm pretty sure we had the best tour guide. Captain Dustin was very informative and funny and he had the singing voice of an angel. We were with our highschool marching band from south Texas, and we couldn't have had a better ending to our trip. Thank you for the memories Captain Dustin!
Tour guide made the entire thing.
Was an amazing experience, the guide was funny and made it interesting for everyone. Overall would recommend!
Captain Dustin is the best tour guide! We loved his stories, knowledge and personality. He kept us entertained. We saw many gators, raccoons, boar, and birds. We even got to hold a baby gator and take pics! We highly recommend Cajun Pride with Captain Dustin! You won’t be disappointed!!!
Captain Dustin was wonderful! He really kept us entertained with calling on the wildlife to come out, feeding the gators and raccoons, and lots of humor during the tour. My group of 20+ thoroughly enjoyed the tour!
We had the best time on this tour! Captain Dustin was amazing. We got up close to all alligators, raccoons, and wild hogs. Loved that he fed the animals so they would come closer so we could learn about them. Great soundtrack accompanying the boat ride. Dustin was knowledgeable, but also funny. My daughter loved holding the small alligator at the end of the tour so she could learn even more. Loved being on private land. 10/10 recommend!
My cousin and I were visiting New Orleans and booked a few excursions while there. We did a Cajun Pride tour one of the days and had a great time. We were with Captain Dustin and he was great! Very funny, informative, and interactive. We both really enjoyed our tour with him and could not recommend it enough! He definitely provided a 5/5 tour experience for our group. However, the next day we had a zip lining tour booked, and Cajun Pride provided us our transportation to the zip lining location. Upon walking onto the bus, our driver (who I won’t name) made a comment over the radio to the rest of the bus that we were dressed skimpy. The comment threw me and my cousin off and caught us off guard. We were dressed appropriately for zip lining and had just walked onto the bus. It was an uncomfortable comment, but we didn’t say anything and were willing to brush it off. However, when the driver picked us up again, he made another comment to a few passengers walking back onto the bus that we were dressed like prostitutes. I found it to be completely inappropriate and unwarranted. I hope in the future this driver is mindful of his comments and keeps his thoughts to himself. We paid for our ride like everyone else and were not looking for any sort of attention from any of the passengers or the driver.
If you're looking for a loud, chaotic safari through the swamps around New Orleans where “wildlife encounters” double as photo props, this will likely deliver exactly what you expect. You’ll get up close with alligators, raccoons, wild boars—and, inevitably, the captain. The ride itself drags on while your guide, a high-volume, cheap impersonation of Mr. Crocodile Dundee, fills the air with an endless stream of dad jokes, only occasionally related to the environment you’re supposedly there to experience. At multiple stops, animals are called in and coaxed closer with nuts and family-sized bags of marshmallows - enough to give the whole thing the feel of wildlife on a steady sugar high. The finale leans into it: alligators are baited into jumping out of the water with chicken, followed by a baby gator pulled from a bag and passed around for photos, clearly distressed and soiling itself as it’s handled. You will also learn how an environment carefully framed as dangerous and hostile can be conveniently reduced to a backdrop for easy profit—presented as something to tame and exploit, with barely a trace of respect or basic decency towards it. All of this unfolds to a soundtrack of 80s power ballads—REO Speedwagon, Richard Marx, Bryan Adams, Journey—loud enough to make sure nothing feels remotely natural.
Cajun Pride Swamp Tours is a privately owned wildlife refuge a short drive from New Orleans. The pontoon driver/guide was knowledgeable and humorous. He even persuaded my wife to hold a live alligator. Lots of wildlife to see and many gators close up. This was a great adventure that would be a fantastic place to take the whole family.
We had captain Thomas and he was a super fun guide! You can tell he’s been around this area his whole life and knows a lot about the wildlife. Super crazy to see him get out and feed the alligators! Highly recommend this tour you see a ton of wildlife. I had no idea there were razorback boars in the swamp.
This was a fantastic experience. So much wildlife to see. Our Captain, Dustin, was entertaining, knowledgeable, and super nice.
Had a great tour today with Captain Mark! We saw birds, alligators, raccoons, and snakes. He shared great stories and was very friendly. Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful experience at Cajun Pride Swamp tours. Captain Dusty was fun, informative, and knew the area well. Great storyteller, and handled the pontoon boat expertly. Captain Dusty has his on call that would bring raccoons, alligators, and wild boar to the shore, to the surface of the swamp, and out of the bushes for us to see as he fed them. We even had the opportunity to hold a baby alligator ourselves if we wanted to for a picture. The restrooms were clean, souvenir shop had a variety of cute things, overall a clean, creative, fun place to visit.
Captain Dustin was great!! We were able to see more wildlife than we expected and learned a little history along the way. Thank you Cajon Pride for an amazing experience😊
I went for my son’s school field trip. Captain Dustin interacted with us and made sure all of the kids saw all of the animals. I am about to go again with my husband and parents and definitely requesting Captain Dustin.
This was one of the highlights of my vacation!! Facility was about 30 min drive from French Quarter. Brandon our boat captain was witty, funny & informative. (May I add, easy on the eyes too. LOL). We saw lots of wildlife! Despite the chillier weather- plenty of gators were out. Check out Cajun Pride if you are looking for a phenomenal swamp tour.
Much more than expected. Saw gators, wild boar, raccoons, turtles, and birds. Sooo fun! Great captain that made sure everyone got a view of everything.
This tour had everything I wanted...we held gaters, saw baby wild pigs and coons and enjoyed our swamp guides non-stop Cajun vocal rhythms. The boat was comfortable and the shiter was clean. It was an unforgettable experience
We had such a good time, Captain Dustin was amazing. He kept us laughing the whole time and told us very interesting stuff about the swamp. He made sure everyone was included turning the boat to both sides while telling fun facts
All I can say is WOW!! This was an awesome experience! Our guide Dustin was amazing and so knowledgeable! Plus, he had a great sense of humor! The wildlife we saw was absolutely amazing and beautiful. We took so many pictures and videos and if we ever come back to Louisiana we will definitely go again! Thanks Dustin! We had a great time!!!
Cajun Pride Swamp Tour!! Awesome experience and our guide Captain Brandon a born and raised native was phenomenal and hilarious to say the least!
It was a nice tour. The boat captain (tour guide) was excellent. I saw lots of wildlife including several alligators. I was on a less crowded tour, so was able to move around from side to side. I will say the best part is when the captain feed some alligators.
Airboat tour of this swamp and lake was our must-do of our NOLA trip and would absolutely recommend! Exploring the swamp under the guidance of Xth generation local fisherman Mr Bundy felt like an authentic experience and we met several friendly alligators along the way, as well as seeing lots of turtles, birds and plantlife. We opted for a small group tour (8 of us in total) which felt like the perfect size and have everyone an opportunity to ask questions and practice feeding marshmallows to the gators!
My family really enjoyed this tour. We went in knowing what it was going to be, so we were not bothered by the wildlife being fed. On the contrary, my daughter was delighted to be able to see raccoons up close, which wouldn’t have happened without a bit of encouragement in the way of treats. It was quite a long tour as well, so I felt it was a really good value for the money. It was especially fun to be able to hold a small alligator. Thanks to our guide Dustin for a really nice experience!
Our boat captain Dustin spent the time shouting through the speakers (calling the raccoons to him? He was shouting “come out, here, come on!” or along those lines), told unkind jokes about his wife and daughter and women in general, used the r-word, and overall made this an unpleasant experience. The tour was very kitschy; about a third of the time was Dustin shouting to — then feeding marshmallows to — raccoons on shore. This doesn’t seem good for the wildlife; it felt invasive and wasn’t interesting. The small part of the time when Dustin was talking about the swamp was interesting, but it was a small section and was overshadowed by him joking and talking nonsense. I was uncomfortable and wished we could’ve appreciated the swamp without his shouting through speakers. We did see a lot of gators, so that was cool, but, again, feeding them seems bad. I’d avoid Cajun Pride Swamp Tours.
This tour was amazing and Eric our tour guide was really knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour. We even saw some alligators as the weather was really warm
The swamp was incredible, we saw so many alligators and raccoons and our tour guide Dustin was really funny. The best part was definitely getting to hold a baby alligator. overall, it was a really fun time
We had a great time with Captain Dustin leading our way through a Louisiana swamp tour. He was full of information about the Louisiana swamp and its inhabitants and his microphone system worked very well. We saw plenty of alligators and enjoyed Captain Dustin's unique way of calling the gators to the boat to be fed. We were a group of about 40, but everyone had a good view and when there was something special to see, Dustin turned the boat around so that everyone had an opportunity to see the view. There is also an impressive gift store on the site to enjoy after the tour.
Amazing tour guide, Dustin. Saw alligators, raccoons, and wild boar. Saw lots of wildlife and leaned about the history of the swamp.
Captain Dustin was Amazing. Amazing jokes, great facts. Fun attitude and made the trip awesome and thrilling. Would have saved me from an alligator if it came down to it. Thank you Dustin!!
This was our first time in New Orleans (we’re visiting from California), and the Cajun Pride Swamp Tour was one of the highlights of our trip! Our captain, Dustin, was fantastic—super knowledgeable about the swamp and alligators while keeping the tour fun and engaging with his great sense of humor. He made sure everyone was entertained while also teaching us a lot about the local wildlife and ecosystem. Beyond just the alligators (which were incredible to see up close!), we also got to stop and take pictures of other animals along the way, making it a well-rounded and exciting experience. The scenery was beautiful, and the whole tour felt immersive and authentic. If you’re looking for a great mix of education, adventure, and laughs, this is the swamp tour to take! Highly recommend—such a fun way to experience Louisiana’s wildlife!
The tour was great and very informative! Captain Dusty made it a memorable experience. It was a colder day so I’d advise a jacket but there are snacks and coffee available
Really enjoyed Captain Danny! February isn’t a super active time for gators, we were able to see some smaller ones! Very entertaining to see pigs, raccoons and birds! Lots of local history and lore too. Captain Danny was well prepared with educational examples too!
