Great speaker and experienced chef. We did the walking tour and then the cooking class—a bit too much food for one event, but still a great experience!

Jack was the best tour guide! Lots of history, personal stories, interesting facts and amazing food. Book with Jack if at all possible you won't be disappointed.
Our guide Kristi was knowledgeable, entertaining, and most importantly it is clear she loves the people and food of the city. Her passion shines!
Our food tour with Jack was one of the highlights of our trip to New Orleans! He took us to an outstanding selection of local restaurants where we enjoyed delicious and authentic dishes. Along the way, Jack shared the rich history of New Orleans in a way that was both informative and incredibly entertaining. His knowledge, enthusiasm, and storytelling made every step even more memorable. If you are looking for a fun way to experience the city's amazing food and fascinating history, we highly recommend taking a tour with Jack and Destination Kitchen. Five STARS!!
This tour was our favorite while in the Crecant City! We chose to do the Foodie Tour with the cooking class demonstration following. It was a full day and we left with full bellies. My group consisted of 4 adults and one minor. Each one of us chose an activity/tour to do during our 4-day stay. My sons (20 yrs old and 22 yrs old) and husband thought that this was going to be a boring and long day. They were doing me a favor by going. It ended up being their favorite tour! Our foodie tour guide, Nate, brought us to approximately five or six places. Samples included: gator sausage, beignets, callah, muffulatta, gumbo, and more. The cooking class included artichoke and shrimp soup, crawfish etuffe, and pralines. At the cooking school, Chef "T" was a lot of fun and explained some of the science behind how the food was cooked that even this seasoned cook didn't know. The food was delicious and we were able to eat our fill. Upon returning home, my family immediately asked for the cooking class's "dinner" again. Everyone, including my boys, said that it was a tour that they would do again. No one said that about any other tour we went on during our stay. One of the nice things about the foodie tour was that it exposed us to places and restaurants that we wanted to (and did) go back to in order to try other items on the menu. The history lesson along the way was informative and entertaining. We will do this tour again when we go back to New Orleans. The cooking classes vary their menus according to the day, and I was given the impression that the food on the foodie tour part changes as our guide commented that he was going to see what the restaurant was serving us that day when we walked in at a couple of places. I think it could be a different adventure each time. At the end of the tour at the place where we met up, my son bought a T-shirt that says "I ate my way through New Orleans." On it are iconic dishes. By the end of the tour and cooking class, I think we had tried almost half of them. This gave us the goal of trying to "eat" through the rest of the dishes on the T-shirt during the remainder of our vacation. If you are thinking about going with little ones or elderly, it can be a lot of walking for them on uneven sidewalks, but it is no more than a few blocks at a time and then you sit for at least 20 minutes. Suggestion: Even if you do not do the cooking class demonstration (which I highly recommend you do), buy some "Joe's Stuff" seasoning from the cooking school. We have used it on boiled potatoes, fries, fish, the "remake" of the cooking class dinner, and more. It is a great seasoning with just enough heat and good flavor.
Amazing time so much food and awesome information. History and food all in the same tour! Highly recommend and Kristie was Awesome
The tour guide was kind and knowledgeable. We stopped at several establishments in the French Quarter and each had its own vibe. We really enjoyed all of the food and the experiences.
Our guide, Lauren, did a fantastic job guiding us through the French Quarter. Not only did we get great food, we learned about the history and culture of this unique city. She also shared a list of recommendations outside the Quarter to make sure we enjoyed our trip to the fullest!
This tour was fun, educational and delicious! Our tour guide Susan was very passionate about New Orleans food and music and culture, The stops on the tour were a representation of the must try foods and all were Fabulous. Susan also had plenty of suggestions on what do explore during your visit, some of which we tried and enjoyed! A lovely and tasty way to learn about NOLA!
What a great way to both learn about and taste New Orleans. Our guide Jack, was the best. Knowledgeable, personable and organized. The New Orleans cooking institute made gumbo and jambalaya look easy to make and taste was fantastic. We hit all of our food groups
We really enjoyed our tour with Susan. She told us a lot about the food we would be eatting and the nationalities that blended together to create it. Highly recommended.
This was the first food tour we’ve ever taken and our guide, Susan, made it a wonderful experience. She was extremely knowledgeable about the places we ate in and New Orleans history.
This was the best tour ever and Susan was so knowledgeable and kind! Would recommend this tour with Susan to my friend
This was such a great tour! Nate, our tour guide, was just awesome! He paced our group perfectly and shared so many historical stories about the food that we were eating and the culture behind it. We learned about cajun and creole food and the stories behind why the food was prepared in a certain way using different ingredients. Our food stops were great! Some of my favorite stand outs on the food tour were the gator sausage and muffuletta sandwich. Everything was delicious. My tour ended with a cooking demonstration at the New Orleans Cooking School. Chef Cindy was FABULOUS! We watched her make a corn and crab bisque, which was my favorite thing I tried of the day. At this point we were stuffed, but kept eating anyway. Cindy did a wonderful job explaining the 3 things that she made for our group. What a fun day! I would highly recommend this activity for any foodies out there.
Had a great walking food tour, history lesson, and geography lesson. Susan was very knowledgeable and friendly. She moved us along with numerous stories. We ended the tour with a cooking class at the NO Culinary School where we enjoyed gumbo, jambalaya, and pralines. The Chef was great, very casual and presented a "chemistry lesson" about food preparation. We had so much food that we rolled out and then skipped dinner. Highly recommend.
My husband and I enjoyed this tour immensely. It was actually two separate experiences and well worth the $$ and 5.5 hours of time investment during our visit to the French Quarter. Our guide for the walking food tour--Susan--was excellent! We had 11 people in our group and she paced the time between food items and walking so very well. Each of our 6 items were authentic NOLA cuisine. Susan also explained the background for the foods we ate including Cajan, Creole, Gumbo... it was very educational. Glad this tour was early in our visit to the city as she gave us restaurant suggestions for elsewhere, outside of the French Quarter. The second portion of the tour was held at the New Orleans School of Cooking. In a 2-hour timeframe, Chef Eric prepared traditional Gumbo, Jambalaya, and Pralines. WOW! Even though we had tried gumbo during the walking tour, this gumbo was a slightly different version and it was outstanding!!! Even with that said, the jambalaya was even better. Chef Eric was so entertaining while he prepared the food. Highly recommend!
This was awesome tour , and our guide was great. We left full and happy
Susan was an excellent guide, very pleasant and attentive to everyone's needs. I thoroughly enjoyed the food provided during the tour. The cooking class offered a wonderful opportunity to learn about New Orleans gastronomy and its rich history.
Great time with Lauren. The food and stories were fantastic.
It was like a progressive dinner with each course being excellent. There was sufficient time to savor each food while learning some history of NO and its culture at the same time.
Samples of traditional New Orleans cuisine are defined and provided. Our guide Milton was entertaining and extremely informative about many aspects of the city's history and about the people who live here. Make sure you come hungry!
I wish I had done this the first day that I arrived because it gave me many good ideas of what I would like to do with my time in Nola. We had a wonderful tour. The cooking class was also excellent. I would recommend doing the two on two separate days rather than together as the tour fills you up too much for lunch at the cooking class.
Definitely well worth the experience and a great sampling of New Orleans: the variety of food, the history, and the culture. Jack was our tour guide and kept us on schedule and laughing throughout our day. He's wonderful! The cooking lesson was not hands on but Vivian, our chef, was entertaining and informative at the same time. And, of course, the food she created was delicious. I'm looking forward to trying the recipes myself when I get home. These folks really put a lot of time in organizing and prepared our tour with love. Oh, and wear comfortable shoes!
Susan was a wonderful tour guide. We learned some history of NOLA, a lot about food history, and great info on where to eat.
Amazing experience! The food, your guide, Lauren and history provided - absolutely wonderful. Cannot wait to come back and attend another tour from this company.
Milton was a wonderful guide laying out backstory if NEw Orleans and it's food. Wide group of NO specialties. Cooking class with Michael was excellent. Learned how to make Gumbo, Jambalya and Pralines but Michael's storytelling of Louisiana history and culture and food was amazing. So glad we did it all.
I should've left this review months ago, but our tour & the class were great. I've recommended it to a few people! Nice pace, nice variety, informative & entertaining!
Russell super knowledgeable and fun. He made sure everyone was having a good time and answered questions. Food was great!
This was a great tour, Nate was a knowledgeable and friendly guide. Not only was it about food but some history and top tips thrown in too. I was certainly full by the end of the day after 8 tasting on the tour and then another 3 during the cooking class which was very interesting and you get to take away the recipes for everything that was made.
Great tour and Laurent was a great tour guide. Food and stops were terrific. Also learned about the history and food of New Orleans
Very intimate your with only 2 couples! Very easy to hear the dialogue. Good variety of eats. Learned lots of history. Guide Jack was friendly and efficient.
Delicious food! Poyboy bang, gumbo bang, oysters bang, gator sausage bang! Call Suzan Steph Curry in the Clutch the way she wasn’t missing 🏀 ⛹🏼♀️
Fantastic tour! Lauren was knowledgeable and friendly, he knew everything about the food and the area. Recommend this for anyone visiting. Do the tour on your first day so you know where to go.
Jack did an excellent job. He is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about New Orleans and willing to share information. He made sure everyone in our group was having a good time and very accommodating. He was well prepared for each of the restaurants we stopped at. The cooking class at the New Orleans School of cooking was excellent. Our chef has a personality of one that was entertaining and professional. Listening, laughing, and learning all at the same time. The pace of serving the dishes was quick. Book it early as they seat you in the order of your reservation.
Nate, our guide was amazing. Very in tune with all the food scenes in New Orleans, and the history that goes along with each location. All the food stops we made were absolutely fantastic.
Fantastic way to learn about NOLA history and culture through food! Cooking demo addon was also super!
Lauren was an amazing tour guide! She provided us with a wealth of information, good vibes and lots of good food. Thank you Lauren!
A really good experience. We got to try some pretty good food! Jack was a great tour guide—very knowledgeable, funny and engaging. Would definitely recommend this tour to other people.
Kristi was so amazing!!! We rate our experience with her a 10!! She talked about the history of each place we went and talked about the food we tasted. Her outgoing personality really vibed well with the atmosphere we were in. We did cooking demonstration after and Chef Eric did a great job cooking and keeping us entertained. All the food we tasted was so good!! My family and I had a great time on the tour. Thank you for the memories!!
It was a terrific day, very well explained, great food stops, our guide was amazing and answered every question sometimes before we asked it, wonderful choice of locations along the way, although we have been to New Orleans many times it was only one location that we had been to before. Big shout out for Susie who was top notch and gets AAA Plus, if we bring friends next time we will definitely be looking for her to guide us through the French quarter.
Frequent visitors to Nola, at least annually. Average tour. Cooking class option was better than anticipated. But don’t take restaurant recommendations from this dude. Knew he definitely didn’t know when he recommended Court of Two Sisters, which is way past its prime!
The tour was amazing. Jack really understood the history and took us to great restaurant stops. We really enjoyed ourselves and the weather was perfect for the adventure.
Susan was amazing and knowledgeable. We have a wonderful experience. All the food was delicious and filling. Would highly recommend
Jack with the tour and Lynn with the cooking session were both fantastic. Each was informative and interesting. Food was wonderful.
Susan, our tour guide was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable not only of the foods we ate but of the cultural history behind the item. Everything I ate was delicious and it was great to get restaurant and bakery recommendations from her. Renee, the chef at the cooking school was also very knowledgeable and I was happy to learn about making gumbo, jambalaya and pralines. This tour convinced me to take food tours in other cities!
Had such a great time, historic and fun information!!! Jack lead us and he was so engaging and charming. A great compliment to our trip!!!
Laurent gave us a good overview of the history behind the culture of New Orleans and its cooking styles, creole, Cajun and up and coming fusion style. We enjoyed his talks and company
My tour guide was Susan. First stop she snaps at me, accusing me of recording her. I was not!! I had my phone out to take pictures of the food. Very embarrassing in front of the group. I’ve taken food tours all over this country and never treated like that.
Enjoyed learning some of the history behind some of the foods in NOLA. Loved that we got to taste different things at each stop with the option to order a recommended cocktail at some stops (drinks not included in price). Nate was very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of NOLA and its cuisine. I highly recommend a food tour, it was fun and delicious!
The Walking Food Tour and Jack were great! We purchased the cooking class and it was not clear that this would be an additional 2-hours at the end and we had to wait around 40 minutes for it to start. Although it was a lot of fun, there was some redundancy in information.
