This tour was amazing and our tour guide Sally was INCREDIBLY knowledgeable. She was very accommodating to our special request and she seemed to know everything about the cemetery. We were very fortunate she was our guide.

This was such a great tour! Sally as a great tour guide. Because she has done so much research as historian we were able to avoid the sort of misinformation you receive on so many tours. Also, because of her close work with the cemetery we had access to some things which other tours might not. Definitely recommend!

An indepth tour of the graveyard with an incredibly knowledgeable tour guide! She truly shows her experience with detailed descriptions of the various Mausoleums and the lore behind the intricate charactures depicted.

There are many cemetary tours in NOLA, but Sally really knows her stuff. I’d recommend this one over the more sensationalized ghost tours if you want to really learn about the history and get access to some of the most unique and beautiful tombs in this amazing cemetery. This tour was one of the high points of our trip.

Sally was very informative and had interesting stories regarding Metairie as well as the other New Orlean's cemeteries. Bring water, wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for uneven surfaces, grassy walking and no real seating for at least two hours. It was very hot the day we went but Sally brought umbrellas to use if needed.

Sally is an incredible wealth of information about cemeteries, burial, specific monuments, and more! We have been visiting New Orleans for years and learned SO much about this city we loved already. I would highly recommend for first time or seasoned visitors! We highly enjoyed seeing famous tombs as well as hearing about others new to us.

Every good cemetery review I read about before visiting NOLA said "Sally was amazing". Then during a food and history tour with Dr. Gumbo, I asked which cemetery tour he recommended. He too said 'Sally Asher'. So to Sally we went! And she did not disappoint. Sally is a wealth of knowledge on New Orleans history and customs. We really knew nothing before we came in and came out fascinated and ready to learn more! Wish we had more time to tour the other cemeteries. Thank you Sally!

This was an awesome tour with an incredible guide! Sally is top notch professional and so interesting that we wished the tour did not have to end! Our group ranged from ages 15 - 54 and there were things on this tour for everyone. For those who need mobility accommodations, this tour was easily doable on a motorized scooter. I found myself wishing we had more time in New Orleans to do her other tours.

This is a very informative and she did an amazing job. She was able to include tons of history as well as specific information about the cemetery and its residents.

We had Sally as our tour guide. She was very outgoing, and knowledgeable about the Metairie Cemetery...more especially since she has written books on the cemeteries in the area and beyond. We are tourist and took the streetcar to the cemeteries Transit station. Not knowing exactly were to go, Sally texted us walking directions from the streetcar stop, all the way to our meeting point. That was 6 star service! My partner didn't have a hat, so Sally offered her an umbrella to deal with the Louisiana sun. 6 stars! Overall, we really enjoyed our tour. Good pacing, good information! If you can get her, book with Sally.

My friend and I had the absolute best time on our tour with Sally. We had a smaller group, which was so ideal. Sally was incredibly knowledgeable on everything New Orleans Cemetaries and the people buried there. Shared a wonderful story about Anne Rice, who’s tomb I was most excited to see. This tour was very informative and also entertaining. Our guide Sally with Red Sash Tours is truly an expert in the field and shared knowledge about burial practices, historical lore, symbolism in decor of tombs, and strangely enough… about crows. She is a published author / speaker and podcaster and is a treasure trove of info. We loved it and would recommend this tour for all ages.

Fascinating history lesson. Lots to see and lots to learn. Fantastic guide walked us through several of the Mausoleums which was very interesting. I can’t say how much we appreciated our guide Sally. The knowledge she had about this cemetery was incredible!

Wandering through the Spanish Moss covered, live Oaks of the Metairie Cemetery with Sally was an experience like no other. Every single mausoleum had a story, and Sally knew them all! From Confederate generals to hated Fried Chicken Moguls to wealthy liars who bought it as a race track turned cemetery, her enthusiasm for the topic was second to none. From how they were built to materials used, with what felt like sneaky access to the interiors, we received a degree level education in two hours. And at our age, waking up this morning and remembering details was a real treat. It seemed very apt that she had even befriended a murder of crows. An historical experience not to be missed. And as Sally says, “Eat, Drink, and Be Buried”.

I had always wanted to tour the Metarie Cemetery and Sally made the experience AMAZING! She is so knowledgeable and shares not only the facts, but the legends about this fascinating cemetery. We were so very fortunate that the day we were at the cemetery the director was there and He actually opened the tomb containing the "weeping angel" statue so that we could get pictures! It was one of the highlights of my trip to New Orleans! I highly recommend this tour. I would do it again!

Sally was absolutely amazing! My wife and are cemetery junkies and have always wanted to see Metairie Cemetery and seeing it with Sally brings the cemetery to life. Sally tells of the architecture of the tombs, the inspiration behind why they were built and the symbolism of the tombs and statues. This is my absolute favorite tour we have taken in New Orleans. My wife and I did this tour today Dec. 4th. Tour guide Sally stayed in touch with us in regards to the horrible weather. She faces options because of the hard rain fall they were having. We were able to cancel or reschedule for the next day, or tough it out in the rain. Well we wanted to tough it out and she actually showed up even though it was only my wife and I . She did a 2 hour tour in the pouring rain for just us. She is so so knowledgeable of these cemeteries and gave us a full array of facts and educated us on so much info. I would 120% recommend this tour. Definitely ask for Sally with Red Sash Tours. We can’t wait to come back to New Orleans and do another tour in the second cemetery with Sally.
