It was good but I wanted more stories maybe be different than the ghost tours which were all around us talking about the same places but just using different words. I am glad we did it because it gave us some history and we got to walk around areas we would not have gone on our own. Our guide was very knowledgeable and we liked him. We are good with only doing it once though.
If you're hoping to spend nearly half your evening staring at a construction tarp while listening to a single story, this is the tour for you. If you're hoping to actually walk the French Quarter and experience its haunted history, I'd look elsewhere.
We had a wonderful time hearing about the history of New Orleans. Luis was a magnificent tour guide explaining every small detail. I highly recommend taking this tour if you love true crime and exploring the history of this amazing town.
Absolutely awesome tour and experience with Luis. We were fortunate to have the tour with just my wife and I along with the guide. He did an excellent job explaining and detailing the stories and history. Would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone that visits New Orleans
Our tour guide Monde was really knowledgeable, or at least seemed to be. She is a great orator but the stories were a bit long. Myself and most in my party wanted the cool details without all the backstory if that makes sense. You lost sight of each stop because it was Iike just get to the point. Also to no fault of hers, the tour meetup spot should be at the first stop instead of having people walk two blocks to start. But like I said that’s not her fault, she was great and was really concerned for the tour safety and making sure she was aware of things around us that could pose a problem. All in all the tour was cool but there is so many better other stories of horrible crime and ghost stories in New Orleans, this was rated G. It’s required to be 16 and up but it really could be for 10 year olds.
Maud is a wonderful tour guide and did excellent with the stories and history!
Maude, our tour guide, was awesome! She was hilarious and she told many stories.
Maude is amazing. So many great stories!
The tour guide was very knowledgeable about this topic, and the tour itself was very engaging. They were great at keeping the group together and safe.
When I go to a place, I usually look up crime and spooky things about the area. I was quite cocky about New Orleans when H said I should go and do a true crime walking tour. I told him I know what happened there and I don't need to attend as I already know the tales and stories about the area, especially the French Quarter. Boy was I wrong! The very last night of our holiday, I decided to join a group at 6pm local time to hear all about the gruesome and spooky. Our guide was Maude and 98% of the stories I heard were new to me and I listened to out tour guide with awe. It turned out, we're very similar so we clicked quite instantly and I may dare to say, I made a friend that day. After our last stop, I got walk into a bar where the victim met the perpetrators. I still have the chills by thinking about the claustrophobia inducing alley you need to take to get there and the atmosphere of the place. That story made its mark on that place. I really enjoyed that 2 hours, maybe even more than I should've. Although it was very interesting, the fact that so many gruesome murder and torture happened in that beautiful part of New Orleans made me sad. My heart was aching for the indigenous, the children, the slaves and for all those victims who suffered a horrible end. The corruption and the carelessness of the city is also very upsetting, knowing that the most dangerous pedestrian crossing is still unmarked and the police chief got away with a hit and run and she is still in charge! Thank you for showing me the hidden and unknown Maude, I will forever cherish that 2 hours I spent on your tour. ❤️
We left early. 30 mins into a 1.5 hr tour, and not one story about "killers". Very generic and not much detail. After leaving early, we passed the same tour with a different guide and it sounded way more informative and entertaining than our guide.
Only about 2 real killers. A lot of history. Mostly talked about women’s hard lives and a couple of them killed. Save your money.
Uma was an amazing guide and story teller. She was a wealth of information and did not hold back on the “killers and thrillers.” She was very personable and it made for an excellent experience. The tour was amazing.
Boring and the guide reeked of pot. If that’s your cup of tea, you’ll love this tour. The content was interesting, but delivery was absolutely abysmal and completely took away from the content itself. Very disappointing. Would not recommend to a friend.
No Thrillers... only a few killers. Nothing amazing to speak of. Wasn't really what my wife and I were expecting. To many tours going on doing the same speeches in the same area's all at once.
Guide was too soft spoken to be heard over the hustle and bustle of the streets. Also seemed to have facts wrong in some of the stories.
Great story teller, kept everyone engaged and interested, toured most of the french square and learned a lot about the history of New Orleans, would recommend Maude anytime!!
We enjoyed our thrilling tour only because our guide was that good! Maude, gave an engaging suspenseful 1.5+ hr tour. We loved how passionate she was about her city and historical insight. The streets are narrow and the roads are uneven. Be mindful and wear good shoes.
Wow the Guide was very entertaining kept the flow going ...some of the stories are not for the week ..so if you you do this one be ready...WAS GREAT
Was disappointed in this tour. Really did not get any dark history...most of the stories were of recent happenings of people getting run over by cars in the quarter. Hoping for more historical killings or hauntings.
It was a fun and interesting tour. Luis is the absolute best! My only advice is not to do the tour after having already walked all day! I booked without reading fully and didn’t realize it was a walking tour. My feet were not happy. Perhaps the company should invest in golf carts.
Very informative! Learned a lot on this tour. Tour guide was really good and knew his history for the tour.
Maude was a fabulous guide for Killers and Thrillers. She has extensive knowledge of New Orleans, its culture, and history. She is funny and engaging, wait for her twist at the end!
Tour guide was very hard to understand. She was very rude to start the tour. She didn't know the facts she was talking about and kept messing up the dates. Company denied giving a refund. Terrible!
I’m very upset and disappointed. I spent a S105. 00 on tickets to see nothing. My family is also upset. I’m upset because we had to older people with us. They were not able to walk a long way. We thought that we were going to be on a bus. We also thought we were going into a haunted house. When the lady that was doing the tour, started talking. We walked off. We all were mad, upset, and disappointed. I’m not satisfied. I need a refund.
This tour was high on energy, low on accuracy — and if you’re the type who likes your history with a heavy side of fiction, you’ll love it. Our guide was lively and clearly passionate, but at times it felt like facts were optional. France canonizing Joan of Arc? (Nope — Catholic Church, 1920.) First pharmacy in the U.S.? (Only if you conveniently ignore the fine print.) Fire hydrants tall because the ground is sinking? (That’s... not how physics or infrastructure works.) And the claim that greed motivated building on expensive, flood-prone marshland instead of cheaper riverfront property? (Pretty sure greed usually favors easy money, not engineering headaches — might want to run that theory through a second draft.) I came to have fun — and I did — but if you're expecting even a modest respect for historical truth, just know you’ll be mentally fact-checking most of the way. To be clear, I wasn’t trying to nitpick or spend the tour fact-checking. I genuinely wanted to enjoy the experience and go along for the ride. But the inaccuracies were so frequent, and at times so outlandish, that I simply couldn’t turn my brain off. After about thirty minutes, I stopped fighting it and spent the rest of the tour admiring the buildings, the skyline, and the people around me — while doing my best to tune out the storytelling. Adding to the atmosphere, the guide (mid-50s) leaned heavily into awkward "hashtag" jokes — loudly saying "hashtag" followed by a repeated word she thought was clever, pausing for laughs that never came, and then laughing at her own jokes. It felt a bit like being trapped in a live-action Facebook comment section. Perhaps the most surreal moment was the telling of a bizarre story involving the King of France supposedly gathering prostitutes, shipping them to New Orleans because "only Native American women were available for rape" (yes, that phrase was actually used), and claiming that the prostitutes, suffering from vitamin D deficiency after their voyage below deck, arrived with dark circles under their eyes and were mistaken for vampires — leading to talk of burning them at the stake. At that point, it became clear this was less a historical tour and more a loosely assembled anthology of folklore, sensationalism, and imagination. In short: High energy, Good vibes, Great city, But if you're hoping to leave a little smarter about New Orleans history, plan on doing some homework afterward. Thanks for the entertainment — intentional or otherwise.
Maude was a great tour guide, stories were interesting and kept us on our toes. The tour time was perfect right at sunset.
Our guide was very knowledgeable (apparently he was a teacher) but, frankly, he talked so fast and with his accent, even I (and others!) had a hard time following him and understanding him (my teenage daughter couldn't at all). Also, I don't think his personal opinion of the "killers" (lots of "he was an a**hole") added anything and, while we expected some swearing, it felt like he embellished a bit too much. Finally, I get that this was a "true crime" tour but the write up on their website said "the killers and the ghosts that remain" but he went out of his way to debunk others' ghost stories and exhibits. While we didn't need him to 'make up stories', I and my teenager would have preferred for him to have left in a bit of mystery. All in all, I think I would have chosen a different "ghost" tour even if the others seemed a bit made up.
It wasn't worth the money. It shouldn't have been over 10 bucks. Plus the guide singled me out and called me a soft spoken bitch. I don't care if your joking around, but there is no need for that.
Highly recommend Ghost City Tours in New Orleans. My girlfriend and I did the Killers and Thrillers tours with Michael. Not only was our guide knowledgeable but he took the time to explain more than what was a part of scheduled tour time. This is a must for anyone visiting Nola for the first time or enjoy learning about local history!
Parent company is awful. They do not care about their customers and they absolutely do not care about their local staff. After speaking to the website customer service, they threatened to give Ethan, the local employee a bad review and report him to his supervisor, despite him being the only person trying to help customers in the store. That is just astonishing and truly disgusting behavior. I cannot in good conscience recommend a company that is so willing to harm their own hard-working employees. I would recommend Haunted History instead.
The tour was awesome! Lots of gore, and lots of creepy but great history. Michael was a fantastic tour guide. He killed it!
This tour was extremely disappointing!! We were so excited to go on this tour only for the 7 of us to be extremely let down. The details describe a scary and detailed description of murders, and ghosts and crime etc. it was basically an 1 1/2 hour walk with our tour guide just talking about some history. For as much as we paid we expected to be entertained. After reading some other reviews we decided on this one. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! It was a rip off!! Wish we could have gotten a refund.
Lots of walking. Learned about different murders at the locations they happened. The tour guide Mike was very cool.
Michael did a fantastic job of giving factual information of gore, bloodshed, and history of NOLA! Our family absolutely loved it!
Calling all true crime fans - BOOK THIS TOUR! Request Jamie if you can. She made the tour truly fantastic. Her love of this amazing city was almost tangible. 10/10
We had a great tour with Mike! He’s a historian so we got great historical detail which was amazing! He answered everyone’s questions & gave even more detail. The walking pace was easy which was nice on a night tour after a day of walking! We will definitely do another tour with Ghost City & with Mike on our next trip!!
Lots of grim tales of executions, torture, crimes of passion, crimes of opportunity and a serial killer.
Do not waste your time and money! The Killers and Thrillers tour lead by an older man with an eye patch who claimed he was an ex seal!! is not only horrible but laughable. Most of the people in the very large tour were actually laughing and making fun of his statements. I do not think that man has any knowledge of history, therefore, the tour should be labeled as: " make believe not so good crime stories".
We had a great time on our tour with Ghost City Tours. Our guide Uma was very knowledgeable about New Orleans and the history behind all the stops on the tour. I felt safe and cared for as we were traveling with someone in a wheelchair. The roads were bumpy and uneven so just keep that in mind, but the tour itself was awesome and Uma was great! I highly recommend this tour company.
I wish there was more!!! We enjoyed the stories and our tour guide, Uma, was amazing!! We wanted to continue to hear more when the tour was over!
The guide was nice and knew his stuff but he spoke too quickly and sometimes mumbled. Our biggest gripe was that the group was too large. We had to try to get close in order to hear and at times we had to settle for the back of what felt like a mob. An “ok” to enjoyable experience.
Excellent tour with great history/murders along the way & no bs stories. Michael was a wonderful & well informed tour guide.
Jupiter is a cool guy, good info. Was surprised that it ended up being 1.5hrs, time flew by and the walk wasn’t bad at all.
I took the Killers and Thrillers with Michael. A great experience! History, no drama, well researched tales of murder. I highly recommend this tour.
Incoherent guide full of foul language and rambling stories. We ditched the tour after 30 minutes to salvage our evening. Not at all what I expected from a tour highly rated on TripAdvisor.
Great, interesting and disturbing all at the same time! Mike was an excellent tour guide and made the night a perfect experience! Highly recommend!
First I want give a shout out to Joshua. He was awesome, very friendly and very informative. He took his time with myself and my girlfriend Kim. He answered all of our questions. Which was not many because he told us all about the spots we stop at. He told us all about the buildings and the history of New Orleans. I would highly recommend the tour and to request Joshua. He was great and did not cut anything short. The only thing I regrated is that we did any pictures because we were just having a wonderful time. When we come back and we will I want to take the tour again and this time take pictures.
Jamie was an amazing tour guide. She answered many questions throughout the entire tour and at the end. Would love to go on another tour just to have her as a guide again.
