John was the ultimate guide. His experience as a history teacher, lover of bicycling, and man about the neighborhood (where everyone knows his name) was the ultimate combination. We ended up being the only two participants that day and had a wonderful time pedaling around enjoying his Keanu Reeves delivery. I hope he was equally entertained by our questions and commentary. What a great morning!
Our bike tour with John was one of the highlights of our stay in New Orleans and the perfect introduction to the city. John was great fun, knowledgable and happy to answer our questions about anything! Also amazing for recommendations on where to go on your stay for food, drink and music. The cycling was easy and relaxed, very flat with a lovely little coffee stop midway. A brilliant activity for our family group of 8, all ages up to 80! Thanks John, we had a great time!
Great guide. Very knowledgeable and entertaining. A great start to your trip and a good way to get some insight into New Orleans!
My husband and I very much enjoyed our heart of the city bike tour @flambeauxtours with Eric. We rode our cruiser bikes through the French Quarter, Marigny, Bywater, and Tremé, each worth seeing. At just over halfway, we stopped at a coffeehouse for some much needed iced coffee. My favorite part was learning about the demographics/history of the people of New Orleans, such as the difference between Creole and Cajun. Eric is originally from the area, moved away for a while, and came back, which gives him a deep understanding and yet objectivity about the city. Eric gave us great recommendations for things to do and eat after the tour. I highly recommend #flambeauxtours.
Eric's knowledge of New Orleans and Louisianna history was fantastic. It's a gentle ride of a tour and very flat and would suit anyone. The highlight for me was the cemetery visit.
We had an excellent tour guided by Eric despite the incredible humid weather of mid July (as expected in NOLA.) The bikes were comfortable and we had a great pace riding and stopping in shaded areas to learn the history of NOLA and then explore other areas about the city. We learned about the background of Voodoo religion, had a great coffee stop (with some air conditioning), a cemetary stop with an education on the above ground crypts and ended in Treme with the history of the first free black city in America (1810!) Eric is a great historian and brings a passion to his tours providing insight into the history of the region. He is also a great citizen of the area showing hospitality to all the people we encountered along our tour. This was a great experience for my wife and I who were joined by two other sisters in their 20s. The ride was perfect for all of us.
Eric provides the hands down best bicycle tour in New Orleans. This is my second excursion with him and he’s funny, informative, and his stories convey the love he has for his native city, its people, and its history. Absolutely the best guide you could cruise around town with.
Excellent bike tour! Eric was a fantastic guide. Eric was prepared, friendly, and very knowledgeable.
We had a great time on our bike tour with Eric. We started in the French Quarter but than went on to other neighborhoods. Came to appreciate New Orleans eclectic past. Eric is friendly, casual and knowledgeable. And...he has great recommendations for dining.
My friends and I had an amazing experience with Eric, on the Heart of the City bike tour. Exploring the city by bike was such fun and a wonderful way to see different neighborhoods, while really getting a great feel for the beautiful city NOLA. The route was well planned, easy to ride, and covered areas you might not see on your own. Eric was knowledgeable, friendly and full of historic story from the past. He made frequent stops to point out landmarks and share local insights, which made the tour both informative and entertaining. You could his passion for his city. The pace was comfortable and we were able to stop for photos. The tour was a fantastic way to experience the heart of the city and soul of NOLA. Highly recommend this tour with Eric if you’re looking for an active, engaging way to explore the amazing city! Thank you again Eric for a great morning of biking and history!
We chose this bicycle tour based on the positive reviews. It did not disappoint! Eric was a wealth of knowledge and thoroughly explained the culture and history along the way. We would highly recommend this tour.
Eric was extremely personable and knowledgeable with his guided bike tour!!!! Highly recommend if you want to partner exercise learning about the city of New Orleans!!! Thank you Eric!
What an absolutely wonderful experience. New Orleans is the perfect city to see from a bike. Eric was fun and incredibly knowledgeable. This was truly one of the highlights of my trip and I can’t recommend it enough. The tour gave you a nice cross section of city history.
Eric is an excellent guide, so informative, interesting and funny. The Heart of the City tour took us into districts, sites & history we enjoyed thoroughly. Highly recommend!
My son and I had such a great time on this tour. Learned a lot from Eric and the ride was great! Would definitely recommend to anyone-especially first time visitors to New Orleans.
Erik was absolutely the best guide and such a wonderful person to spend the 3 hours ride with his amazing stories and knowledge of the history of NOLA!! We had the best time!! Thank you!
I was so impressed by Eric's knowledge of the history of New Orleans. Being of Creole descent, Eric was able to describe and paint a picture of how the city has evolved into its rich culture. All the stops were interesting, unique and off the beaten path. Eric is also well-loved by his community as people were constantly stopping by to say hello. His passion for biking and historical content is impressive!
This tour takes you through beautiful neighborhoods. The guide, Eric, is amazing and knowledgeable!!!
Highly recommend! My husband and I usually do city tours of any new city we travel to. This was one of the best. Our tour guide, Eric was fantastic! His knowledge of the history of NOLA was impressive, and we learned so much. Great story teller. It was a lot of fun exploring the city on bike.
This is our first trip to NOLA and the bike tour exceeded expectations. Although all guides are likely knowledgeable, we feel fortunate to have had Eric. His historical knowledge of NOLA history, culture and fun facts coupled with his enthusiasm, was well worth the time. We leave with a much greater appreciation for NOLA and its rich history, thanks to Eric & his commitment. By the way, it rained and was still awesome!!
Upon arrival at our bike tour headquarters, we were introduced to our guide, Eric, and 4 other tour members, who were all Kiwis! Eric is a local, and for the next three hours, he expertly and safely guided us through some of the inner city neighbourhoods. His knowledge of the history of the area was fascinating and thoroughly interesting. A halfway cafe stop was appreciated, as for us Kiwis, it was pretty warm and humid. I would definitely recommend this tour, as you will come away far more knowledgeable, and you will enjoy Eric’s knowledge and personality.
The Heart of the City tour with Eric was OUTSTANDING! Entertaining and VERY informative. We had less than 24 hours in New Orleans, and this was a great way to see and learn about a lot of the area in a short amount of time. Bikes, communication, and cost were all excellent. Makes us want to come back and see more!
Don’t miss the store if Eric is leading, it would a wall of knowledge in the city and an enjoyable ride. Highly recommended.
Eric was an amazing tour guide- he has a very thorough grasp of world history & can take this worldview and condense it into applicable New Orleans & Creole history. This bike tour is a must for those who truly want to learn about the history of this fantastic city. Our family of 4 has a much deeper appreciation for this part of the U.S. and how it relates to the history of our country. It was definitely a top highlight of our trip to New Orleans- a must for everyone!
We’ve experienced other tours before, this was by far the best. Eric’s knowledge of the city’s history and a tour of area’s we’d not visited before makes us want to return.
This bike tour was so much fun! Eric is a fabulous guide and really knows this city. I learned so much! Thanks for a great time! I’ll be recommending this to everyone I know.
Our absolute favorite activity in NOLA! Book with confidence! Eric's tour was fantastic!! As first-time tourists, e got a great overview of the city's rich history. New Orleans is a story of immigrants and water, and is a place like no other! Bywater district and a quick stop at Petite Clouet Café for a sweet treat were highlights. We covered way more than can be done on foot and felt very safe the entire time. Eric knows how to navigate the streets and avoid traffic. His recommendation of the Whitney Plantation was perfect. We went the next day and I feel really connected to the city thanks to his love of people and willingness to share insights as only a historian and native Creole can. Thank you so much!!
Easy level excursion that gives a compacted history of New Orleans bringing you full circle to today’s times . Do the trip early in your visit and you will see things and areas that you will want to go back to!
Truly the highlight of our trip to NOLA. Enjoyed a small group guided by the owner Eric. So incredibly knowledgeable about his hometown his enthusiasm is contagious. The route uses bike lanes, felt very safe, easy to ride, well maintained bikes. Five stars do not miss!
We had an amazing tour guide Eric. He was a great historian and kept us captivated by his knowledge of the city. He was also a native of New Orleans so that made the experience even more enjoyable. He was great at navigating us safely around the city. We would highly recommend this tour.
It was a fun and educational experience. Eric was funny and knowledgeable. The kids also had a great time. Definitely recommend the tour.
Eric was a fantastic tour guide giving us information historical as well as personal experiences into the culture . The bike ride was definitely easy and flat and not an issue if you are not experienced . Highly recommended!
Eric was a great tour guide and extremely knowledgeable He took us to some obscure neighborhoods that we never would have found on our own. The history of NOLA is amazing and he took it to the next level! Will book his garden tour when we come back.
The ride through the very heart of neighborhoods was great! Great history and Eric was a wonderful guide for the history and culture!! Very good tour!
Perfect. What a lovely way to understand NOLA, its colonial history and how this part of the world proudly became to be. Our guide gave us such an understanding while being real and showcasing their authentic relationship to the city. We biked a bit, stopped, talked and repeated. It wasn’t boring, always relevant and it felt like we took the more grass roots option opposed to the other tour companies which looked way more touristy than this. If you come to New Orleans and know how to ride a bike, do this. Totally recommend and thanks for the food recommendations!!
What an experience, we loved every minute of this cycle ride. We were given the history of New Orleans by a local who loved the city. We had a break at a fabulous coffee shop. Saw parts of New Orleans we wouldn't have found on our own. Cycling was easy and we felt totally safe the whole time. Definitely recommend this as a way to explore New Orleans.
We got the inside perspective from a local who is very knowledgeable of history. The route was fantastic and showed the side of New Orleans you usually don’t see.
Eric was great, incredibly knowledgeable. He gave is some awesome recommendations for food, taught us the origins of Voodoo, the birth of New Orleans, it’s foundational cultures, how it changed hands from the French to the British, and key events born out of NOLA that drove civil rights progress in the United States. Overall super fun tour.
Erik was an amazing guide! He was very knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the city, which made the experience even more enjoyable. He always tried to find us shade for our stops that was very appreciated. We expected a group tour, but it ended up just being us!
Eric is wonderful, a trove of local history and humor. Definitely recommend him for future groups! Get out of the quarter and into the city.
This was one of our favorite activities of our trip. We had 2 adults and 2 teens, and all of us enjoyed our tour of the French Quarter and the Lower Garden District. On another visit, we will take another tour with this company, maybe to another neighborhood.
We had a fantastic time on this bike tour with Eric as our guide. He was a fantastic storyteller and the stops along the trip and the stories shared were a fabulous mix of history, architecture, and culture of New Orleans. Eric was fantastic at making sure we felt safe on our bikes, giving great instructions and stopping frequently to talk about sites and also let us cool down in the shade. His knowledge of New Orleans ran incredibly deep and he was excited to answer any questions we had along the way. We visited so many different neighborhoods and sites of New Orleans, seeing way more than we could have possibly done on foot! I would definitely recommend this tour as a part of your trip!
We learned more about the people, culture and history in 3 hours than we could imagine. Eric is so knowledgeable and passionate about his city (where his roots go back over two centuries) and his southern charm and hospitality make you feel like you’re hanging with an old friend. We only did a 3 hour tour, but I would have happily paid to spend the whole day with Eric and absorb more of what Eric could share. If you’re looking for ways to better understand New Orleans, don’t hesitate, book this now! We were lucky and had a small group of 4 (it was low season), so maybe our tour was more intimate (I think it can be as big as 10) and that helped. Thank you Eric for everything! It was the favourite part of our trip!
Excellent tour. Very fun and very informative. Loved seeing the neighborhoods you don’t always see when coming to New Orleans. Highly recommend!
Our tour guide Eric was knowledgeable, friendly and a wonderful tour guide. Great pace, hidden spots we wouldn't have found on our own and lots of history. Would definitely recommend!
What a fantastic way to learn about the cultural history of this amazing city while getting a unique perspective on a bike! We were so lucky to have booked with Eric as our guide. I HIGHLY recommend you book with him. Not only has his family lived in New Orleans for generations, which gives him a unique view of life in New Orleans, but he has an incredibly genuine, passionate and enthusiastic delivery. His stories gave life to a city I never knew, and painted such a loving picture of the history of the city, its people and their culture. I learned something on every stop! No lie. The ride was smooth. The route through the city was interesting and exciting. Did not feel ‘touristy’ or corny. Really, A FANTASTIC way to experience the city of Bulbancha. I would do it again for sure. The giant green dragonfly that latched onto Eric’s pant leg near the end of our tour was awesome too.
Our tour guide Eric was amazing! Super charismatic and knowledgeable about NOLA. The tour was about 3 hours but it felt shorter because all the stops and history discussions went smoothly. Loved all the neighborhoods and our last stop in Treme. Would highly recommend!
Tour guide gave lots of history. He is a creole. Very funny with a great laugh. 3 hr ride. Very cool.
WOW is all I can say! Eric goes above and beyond! This tour, hands down, was by far THE BEST! Eric's way of delivering NOLA's history was just incredible! He is so engaging, and makes sure that everyone feels a part of! He makes eye contact and delivers the history in such a way that you don't just listen, YOU HEAR! I toured with my 17 year old son and my 12 year old daughter, and we all agree that this tour was THE BEST, and we all LOVE Eric! He becomes your friend while on his tour! His welcoming energy, his passion, and his inherent love for his city and what he does is apparent! Thank you Eric beyond words for closing our vacation in NOLA as an incredible and memorable experience! We will see you next time! God bless you...
