The Mardi Gras cooking school was very nice. However , they were not expecting our party of 3 . We booked through Viator , which is of course a third party. They were not expecting us They did not have us on their list. They had to scramble to add 3 additional set up stations and the food.they asked me a ton of questions about when I booked. When I paid.etc. Showing them all of the emails etc. we did NOT feel welcome at all. Oh it’s also advertised to have water , coffee , tea , They do not have coffee. They do not have a coffee machine , you have to walk around the corner to get that. I finally said , listen this is NOT our fault that you don’t have a booking information. , clearly you can see that we booked and this is paid for. After all of that was resolved it was a good class. Just tainted .

We can’t say enough about this cooking class we took with Cam. The class was just my husband and I so we got the full experience and a lot of helpful tips and information from Cam. He made this class so much fun and although we cook all the time we learned a lot during this class with him. We are looking forward to coming back in the near future. Thanks again Cam 👍
My husband and I had a Sunday brunch here the weekend before last. This was such a fun experience and our chef was fantastic as well. We loved the hands on approach and learning the proper techniques to cutting produce. We cooked praline bacon, shrimp and grits (this was a first for the hubby and I , wow these were fantastic) as well a a crab cake benedict. Everything we ate was so good! The hubby has already requested this be his next birthday meal !! If you are ever in New Orleans please consider checking the school out for a unique and tasty event !
This was our first hands on cooking class and my only regret is not scheduling more! Its more than just a recipe. Its learning to properly cut and prepare all the ingredients and what to look and hear for in a dish as it cooks. Chef Scott was incredible and it was an honor to have him as our instructor! We enjoyed so many dishes to take home and duplicate. My cajun husband says “its the best shrimp & grits he’s ever had in his 46 years on this earth” Bonus:: we got the insider scoop on where to eat and visit like a local!
I definitely recommend this class, especially with Chef Didier. He teaches you a lot and the food is phenomenal. We were hoping the class would be fun and educational, and that's what we got.
Chef Scott was awesome. He made our experience unforgettable with his stories and charming personality. I’d recommend this experience to anyone looking to start your time in New Orleans on the highest note.
My fiance and I signed up for the brunch class with Preston. He is a fantastic teacher and entertaining with his knowledge of the history of the dishes we were preparing. You must absolutely check this class out. The shrimp and grits were my favorite thing we made. My fiance loved the praline bacon and crab cake. Request Preston!
Our instructor was great and the food was amazing!! We made the same dish 2 more times since the class and love it! One of the highlights of our trips for sure!
A great class! My wife and I had Chef Preston as our instructor, and he led us in the creation of a wonderful New Orleans Brunch. We made crab cakes, shrimp and grits and caramelized bacon (not sure the actual name of the bacon). All were fun to make, and turned out delicious. It was definitely the best food we ate during our visit to New Orleans. We learned a lot and I'm looking forward to trying the recipes and techniques I learned on my own on a soon-to-come weekend. Chef Preston is a great guy; very knowledgeable in his craft as a chef and an excellent teacher and story teller. Had a great time. Highly recommended.
Basically we had a private lesson with a master chef that spoiled us rotten for an incredibly reasonable price. Connor took his time to teach us cooking basics and then whipped together a meal like no other. My husband was actually licking the plate. The addition of multiple mimosas and blasting air conditioning made for a perfect morning in Louisiana. You won’t regret or forget this experience.
The cook was amazing he will teach you all the tricks. And the food was great! I’m definitely going home and trying my skills for my family. And he made a list of things to do and eat around the area. Which was very helpful.
Glad we came to this hungry! Came here with 4 friends during a trip to New Orleans. We were surprised to find it was just the 5 of us in the class with the owner, Chef Theresa. The kitchen was tastefully decorated and pretty new - sounds like it was previously an apartment that they recently renovated and moved the business to. We learned a lot, and were out of our comfort zone a little....I had never cleaned shrimp before but fortunately Theresa let me have a pair of disposable gloves (yes I wimped out) and she has a tool to use to remove the peel. We ended up eating twice, once around 11 am and again around 1 pm. Had a great time making shrimp and grits in the morning, learning to poach eggs and make crab cakes for lunch, etc. I felt very at home in the kitchen there and we never felt stupid asking lots of amateur questions. It was a great time and Theresa is a great hostess. Would recommend to anyone who wants to learn a little, socialize and enjoy a good meal. Left stuffed!
We had such a great time with Chef Scott!!! He taught us some new knife skills, New Orleans history, and how it make a lovely mimosa. We laughed and ate for hours. A definite must do!
We had the best time at the Mardi Gras School of Cooking class! Chef Scott answered all of our questions, made us laugh, and we left feeling like we could actually cook! We highly recommend this experience!
We had a great experience. It was just myself and a girlfriend in the class so it felt like a private class. We learned more than just cooking the dishes. Peston, who was very personable, taught us safety knife lessons and how to properly cut the ingredients and peel the food. Food was delicious and abundant. Actually took some home. New Orleans cooking is not fat free so be prepared for adding some calories! My only comment is that it would have been nice to have the recipes written down (on paper or blackboard) so you could follow along. I attended other schools in the city that where just observation based. Participating was much more fun!
First, due to scheduling conflicts, we called and asked to move to the next day. Not a problem. We moved from brunch to rue class where we learn to make Shrimp Etouffee, Chicken and Andouille Sausage Gumbo and Bananas Foster! Incredible. My husband (a great cook in his own right) said it was the best food we had had while in NOLA. And Preston ... great teacher, interesting conversation and great cook. The pace of the class was PERFECT!
We did this with some friends and had a blast. Direction from the chef was great, food was delicious and it was great to meet new friends and share the experience
My wife and I took a three hour cooking class with Laurent and Preston. They were friendly and made us feel at ease. We learned many good cooking techniques that we will incorporate in our everyday cooking. Additionally, we prepared and enjoyed a great meal with the other class participants. Highly recommend.
Chef Scott was amazing!! We had the BEST time and would highly recommend it! Bottomless drinks, great company, great food and just an overall blast for singles, couples or big groups! It’s an adorable space too.
This cooking class was one of the best things my mom and I did during our 10 day stay in NOLA. We loved Chef Laurent - he was so much fun, such a great teacher and an AMAZING chef! We couldn't even order crab cakes for the rest of our time in New Orleans because we knew they couldn't compare to the ones we made in this class. We learned so much and had the best time doing it. Food was amazing, location was great and facilities perfect, experience absolutely top notch. Could not recommend enough!!
We had an absolutely great cooking class with Chef Scott and Graham. The food was amazing... pig candy, shrimp and grits, crab cake, and bananas foster. Scott and Graham was absolutely great hosts and made us feel very welcome!
First time doing a cooking class and it was one of the best experiences I've had in a kitchen setting.............I learned a lot of cool tricks/tips that I'll definitely incorporate in my cooking. The chef was great and doing with another couple was a major plus....
Brilliant experience. The chef, Byron Bradley Jnr., is great! Book it yourself and find out how how to cook great Creole Cuisine.
It was really a pleasure to meet chef Scott. He gave us many advice and thanks to him we cooked delicious meals! We recommend it !
On 29 Aug 2019, I took the class on "New Orleans Style Brunch" with Chef Scott. This was the third class I took with Theresa's Margi Gras School of Cooking. Last year I took her "Roux" class and "Sauces" Class. Chef Scott did an outstanding job walking me through the New Orleans style recipes, techniques to improve my game, and overall style and presentation which made each dish delicious, and gave me confidence to make these again and again at home. I highly recommend Chef Scott, Theresa, and the Mardi Gras School of Cooking! Jim
