Food was great. The eggplant Napoleon with fried shrimp was phenomenal. The empanadas were also to die for. And topping it off with a beignet at the end, what could be better.
Michelle was an amazing tour guide. Well educated by life in the city and living nearby the garden district made her the perfect guide for this experience. She told us the story of that part of the city and had answers ready for all of our questions. The food was amazing and she knew exactly how to feed our minds and our stomachs. I feel like every time you take this tour it could be different because she just had so much to tell us and so many other things she could have taken us to with more time. Her kind greeting of neighborhood people by name tells you that she not only tells the story of NOLA but that she is a part of the story here. And that makes her a great guide. Take this tour. You'll be glad you did.
Michelle was well versed in the area and the food of New Orleans. She was able to put together a menu for the people with food allergies in our group. We had some one with a gluten allergy and another person with a shell fish allergy. Neither left hungry!
This tour is amazing! The history you learn about New Orleans and the Garden District is fabulous! Bonus is you also get to experience a few of the local restaurants!
We really enjoyed the knowledge and history that Michelle had to offer us on this tour, she is definitely knowledgable about the area and we received SO many recommendations that we are thankful for from her. She is a local and 100% knows the history and the area very well! That being said, we did feel that this food tour was overpriced in comparison to the food and portions we received. We did not get to try the Eggplant Napolean that others mention in their reviews (the place is closed on Sundays), but that meal was not replaced by another stop. In total, we ate half a po’boy each (choice of one alcoholic drink), an empanada each, and a beignet and a coffee. Don’t get me wrong, all the food was absolutely delicious, but compared to other food tours I’ve taken in other cities, and for the price of $100 each I was expecting more and left feeling wanting more. In total, we had about $40 worth of food/drink.
Guide michelle is super knowledgeable! We learned a lot about history of new orleans, its customs, culture and food
Michelle is fantastic! So much history and she was a great host. The area is beautiful and we walked around a the beautiful area
This was a lot of fun to see the garden district. Fun to learn more on the history of NOLA and get us outside the touristy spots. Michelle was great and personable. Easy walk and good food. Highly recommend upon arrival!
Michelle was full of information about the settling of NO from the French to the Spanish. Eggplant Napoleon was the best food on the tour.
Michelle was an amazing tour guide! She was knowledgeable and entertaining. We enjoyed our time with her.
Michelle leads a fantastic tour- starting with history that sets the stage for the tour - architectural highlights, delicious food and history- she is knowledgeable and fun!!!
The Garden District food tour was the perfect mix of food, history and architecture. Michelle was an amazing tourguide and extremely knowledgeable. I look forward to taking her other tours.
We wish we had taken this tour on our very first day. We learned so much great information about the city that would have saved us time and money.
Our family was in New Orleans for 12 days and took many tours. By far the best were guided by Michelle Mashon. She is a native of the city and knows all the best history and places to visit away from the normal tourist spots. I would give her 6 stars if that was possible.
Yes, the French Quarter has great dining experiences. But there are so many great food options in every category and dining experience level all over the city. This tour takes you away from bustle and shove of the Quarter to the leisurely pace of the Garden District. Michelle takes time to build a history of the food of New Orleans through the history of its inhabitants. Then you eat (you will be full at the end) at 3 of her fav local spots. The locals know her - think "Norm!" from Cheers - b/c you are in HER neighborhood! You'll feel welcome and want to come back again and again.
This experience was awesome! I would give it 10 stars if I could. Michelle is a wonderful guide. She taught us so much about local history and customs, shared excellent food with us, and gave everyone in our group great tips about places to shop and eat while we’re in town. She went above and beyond and made this tour so much fun!
We had a great time in the Garden District with Michelle. We learned and ate a lot! Excellent food choices. Also, so nice to get away from the French Quarter and try something different. You can spend all day on Magazine St.
Great tour with interesting historical information shared and great food stops enjoyed in the beautiful garden district. Highly recommend Michele and this tour.
Michelle was very knowledgeable about the history of New Orleans and its Garden District. A much quieter alternative to the French Quarter. More local feel. Loved that drinks were included in the price.
The guide was very knowledgeable about the history of NOLA. The food was Delicious. Some of the best food we had. Great tour.
Michelle was super informative and had tons of recommendations. The food was top notch and it was nice to get to see a different part of the city filled with such beautiful architecture
Wonderful guide and tour. We learned a lot of history about New Orleans, the Garden District and the food that we ate. Everywhere we ate was delicious. Michelle was a great source of information and we even tried some of her local recommendations for dinner that night. Highly encourage you to take this tour!
Michelle was an amazing host! The food was excellent, loved that she knew so many people/places in the neighborhood, it's obvious she spends a lot of time there and has gotten to know the restaurants and owners. She had so much historical and cultural information to share, this is just as much a history tour as a food tour. She was able to answer all of our questions and gave additional recommendations for other places to visit, restraurants to try, and local hangouts. Everyone in our party thought the tour was absolutely worth the cost.
Michelle was an awesome guide. She worked very hard for us and made it a memorable experience! Her #1 goal is to help people. Be sure to come hungry as there will be plenty to eat and drink!
We had a great time. Checked out some good food, walked through the Garden District and got alot of history from our guide. She was extremely knowledgeable about the region and the houses.
This was such an awesome tour that I recommend 100%! The tour guide was friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the history of NOLA! I loved that the tour took us out of the Quarter and had us trying and seeing new places. The food and drinks were AMAZING and actually we went back to one of the establishments the next day. We felt as if we were just hanging out with an old friend!
Michelle, the owner and tour guide was amazing! Very knowledgeable, shared lots of great history, showed us amazing houses in the Garden District including Sandra Bullock's home and where Benjamin Button, the movie, was filmed. The food was all delicious and much different than the French Quarter food. We had a small group which also great for us and MIchelle answered all questions, was very friendly and accommodating for food choices when possible. Restaurants may vary on a given day but we had a delicious alcoholic drink (I chose the frozen Irish Crown Royal coffee drink with Crown Royal...yummy!); I got the 1/2 of a muffeletta which was delicious and my husband enjoyed a yummy roast beef poor boy-these sandwiches were much better than in the French quarter. We got to choose an empanada from Empanola - they are the best (like little individual pies with great fillings like crawfish Etouffee, gumbo-there were like 20 different choices and so delicious, we came back and purchased more). We got to choose our dessert beignet from the Vintage including a King Cake Beignet (my choice and delicious), praline (my husband's choice), smores, etc. These are much more special than a powdered sugar beignet! We highly recommend this food tour and visit to the Garden District, it was well worth it!
My wife and I did the garden tour with Michelle. In addition to some history of the area, we sampled eggplant Napoleon, jumbalaya, sausage with red beans/rice, New Orleans-flavored empanadas, and, of course, beignets, spread over 3 restaurants with some local beer and cafe-au-lait. Michelle was an entertaining guide and gives good restaurant recommendations too. Tour is strongly recommended as a way to get away from the hectic French quarter for a day. Bring a healthy appetite and plan on doing a little shopping in the area afterward!
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Michelle despite the chilly temps! She was knowledgeable, eager to answer our questions and had a ton of pride in her hometown and neighborhood. We were anxious to get out of the French Quarter and loved getting to know the Garden District. Food was outstanding and she shared recommendations for dinner options that were delicious too. Thanks Michelle!
This is a great walking tour of the Garden District that starts at Lafayette Cemetery and ends on Magazine Street. The guide was knowledgeable and gave fun facts about the cemetery and architecture. Food stops were excellent. Lasted almost three hours. Would recommend.
This was a wonderful taste of new orleans with great history! The garden district was beautiful and Michelle did a great job explaining the history and architecture to us, the best part is we finished off with some local food tasting!
I had a group of 10 friends on this tour with me, and everyone was enthralled with the history, food, neighborhood and detail Michelle shared with us. To keep the attention of our group was impressive in itself, but that everyone raved about the experience during and after is incredible. I have always loved New Orleans and it's history, but now have a newfound understanding of not only what makes it so special, but deep appreciation for why it is so very unique. The history we learned was fantastic, the places we visited beautiful and the food astounding. 100% would book Michelle again for another tour. Thanks Michelle!
Michelle was a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable and the tour was a great balance of walking the Garden District to learn about the local architecture and history with fabulous food stops on Magazine Street.
This tour set the tone for our entire trip!! Michelle was amazing! She’s super knowledgeable and fun! She gives great recommendations to keep your visit in Nola satisfactory! She knows all the right spots that’s going to give you the most authentic Nola experience! Hands down one of our favorite parts of our visit! If you’re coming for a visit this should be a first stop! It will set everything else in motion!
Great homes to see, loved all the history of the city. Food was good. Got some different taste of New Orleans.
This tour was the highlight of our stay in NOLA. Michelle was a great guide. Fun and knowledgeable about all things New Orleans. The food was amazing and the Garden District a delight. Would take this tour again in a heartbeat.
Michelle was so amazing! She was knowledgeable, friendly and took us to great places. You can tell how much she loves her city. Don’t go with the big tour companies, use Bon Moment. A very personable experience. We loved it!
It was very nice to learn about the garden district, fabulous food, with a fantastic guide. Highly recommend going on this tour.
Michelle was witty, informative and very accommodating. Couldn’t ask for a better hostess. Great knowledge of New Orleans history.
Great company! Great tour! Was just long enough to enjoy some history and good New Orleans food. (started out rainy but soon after we started the sun came out) Would recommend to locals as well as out of towners. Bon appetite!
The best tour you could ask for. Michelle came highly recommended by other tour guides and I’m glad we jumped on the experience. Not only was she informative and friendly, she assisted our gluten free friend in food she could eat and enjoy. She put our needs first. She was super friendly and even lent us her umbrellas when it rained. Highly recommend to anyone visiting New Orleans looking to experience food, culture and history.
Learned history and good food in gardens at New Orleans. Introduced to new kinds of food. Loved the tour group and guide
Short walking tour of garden district. Stopped at three local eating establishments to taste the local cuisine. Michelle did a wonderful job explaining the area and history. The restaurants she picked gave us a sampling of the cuisine of the area. Would recommend to all groups.
Michelle was an amazing and interesting guide! The food and drinks were wonderful. Our group was an international and very fun group!
Our tour guide Michelle was excellent. Loved her style of sharing the history of the Garden District. The food stops (jambalaya, beans & rice, eggplant Napoleon, Beignets, and PoBoys) absolutely delicious and filling.
We had a wonderful time on our tour. They accommodate large groups; we had a Bachelorette party of 23. The food stops were very good. We were able to sample a variety of local food and beverages; no one went away hungry. I would highly recommend.
Michelle is an expert all things NOLA and she went out of her way to make sure that we had all our bases covered food wise. She has taste and it shows. Of the four food tours I’ve done in different cities, this one was by far the most interesting and enjoyable. I highly recommend scheduling this for the beginning of your trip so that you can squeeze as many recommendations out of Michelle as you can. The food was delicious but I’ll leave it at that so that you can be surprised. Thank you so much!
Out of all the tours/paid activities we did in New Orleans, this one was by far the best. We got to walk around the Garden District and experience things outside the French Quarter. The places we stopped at were amazing and it was cool to support local. Our guide, Michelle was amazing an had a super cool, down to earth vibe. I cannot recommend this tour enough, you won't regret it!
Our guide Michelle was fun, obviously knew a lot about NOLA history, and was enthusiastic about the local food. Only regret was that we had to leave the tour a bit early because we were meeting friends at another location.
