This was amazing and so fun! The tour guide knows her stuff! She was funny and insightful. Highly recommend.

Lovely Royal Street in the evening is part of the landscape of the tour.

We took two tours with Karen Fernandez. She was very knowledgeable and made the tours very interesting and entertaining. Highly recommend
Our guide Dannal was very knowledgeable and easy to listen to. This is a must do! So interesting about the history of the city and how things became. The second bar stop was so nice.
Karen is an amazing guide and storyteller. I was entertained the entire time while learning so much about the rich history of New Orleans. This was definitely a highlight of my trip. Looking forward to going back and booking another tour with them!
This was a fantastic tour that focused much more on the history of the city itself than we expected. Our tour guide, Dannel, was so knowledgeable and really brought the people and places to life!
I’ve been to New Orleans a few times and done several tours so I was glad to find something a little bit different. Dannell was a great tour guide and it was all fun and interesting.
What an awesome tour! Karen was friendly, fun and full of knowledge! This is so much more than the title suggests! Karen knows here NOLA! Thank you again Karen. You’re amazing!!!
Dannall led a great tour! The content was interested and the pacing was just right. I’d been looking for something a little bit different as I’ve been to NO several times and done a handful of tours before. I learned a lot of new and interesting things.
This was our second tour that we booked with this company. Our first tour was excellent and this tour did not disappoint. This was an evening tour with Dannal who is so knowledgeable and engaging. She answered every question and demonstrated a deep understanding of the subject matter.
Very interesting and Informative tour. Karen was an absolute delight and made us gee like we were hanging with an old friend
Dannal was very passionate about the buildings we visited and certain inhabitants that occupied them. Brothels and bordellos were first opened up to attract people to New Orleans which was built on a swamp in bug-infested territory. One of their uses was covert listening posts. One can learn so much about their enemies that way. Hence why they were a hotspot for gangsters. If you see a red door, watch out. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards don't want to paint it black. It indicates the former red light district. I could go on, but there are so many fascinating details to be learned here. The world's oldest profession really did leave an impact here.
Great experience! Dannal was a fantastic and knowledgeable tour guide! A great way to learn about the darker history about New Orleans!
We've been on several walking tours through the French Quarter and were a little worried that this would be all the same information.... but this tour had completely different details and we learned a lot about the sordid history. Dannal was great guide and I'm glad we chose to support an independent, female owned business. I highly recommend using Two Chicks and plan to use them again the next time we visit.
Dannal was very knowledgeable! She took great care of us. I learned so much about the history of brothels, including Storyville and Ursulines Convent. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Dannal was an awesome tour guide and it was so fun to get a glimpse into the history of the town. 10/10 would take another tour
This is a great tour to book when you visit Nola! Our Tour guide Dannal was engaging and presented us with a well-informed history of the women who built this city. You felt like a real local. I prefer this type of tour to a crowded bus with someone screaming into a microphone as you pass by buildings. This is much more intimate and fun to explore the city. Thank you Dannal & Two Chicks Walking Tours!
Our tour guide was Dannal (rhymes with Flannel). Dannal was a very good tour guide. I’ve done other French Quarter walking tours and I enjoyed her comfortable style. Rather than present a bunch of exact dates of events, she presented in a much more comfortable and personable fashion. She kept the tour very interesting with some names and events that are not popular with other to a presentations.. we talked of the happenings that went on on Gallatin Street that is now mostly the French market flea market. We took a couple of welcomed bathroom and drink breaks at interesting locations and learned about May Bailey., a brothel owner and her original license and many photographs to see. We got to the outskirts of the French quarter near N. Rampart St. And talked of many specifics of Storyvilles history and of the legalized prostitution district in New Orleans. Our group was only six or seven people which gave us plenty opportunity to interact. Dannal created the opportunity for all of us to become friends.
Not exactly what I was expecting but it was very pleasant, informative, and I was very happy I went. The guide, Dannal, was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to talk with. Highly recommend.
We had a great time. Dannel was our guide and she was great and so informative. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and your city with us!!
Dannal (rhymes with flannel) was absolutely phenomenal! We took the French Quarter After Dark tour and it was everything I hoped for—rich in history, beautifully told stories, and a deep reverence for the powerful women who helped shape New Orleans into the city it is today. Listening to Dannal speak transported me. Her storytelling instantly brought back my love for Southern Gothic tales—moody, vivid, and emotionally rich. I found myself completely lost in her words, visualizing every detail like I was stepping into another era. If you're searching for a tour that goes beyond the surface, one that feels like an experience and not just a walk through town—this is the one. Don't miss it!
Such a great experience! Dannell was such a great tour guide! Just make sure to bring your walking shoes!
Excellent information, great tour guide, and great stops along the way. I have done four or five tours in New Orleans and this was the best.
I booked the Brothels tour with Karen for myself & two friends. Karen was engaging & funny throughout the guided tour. She was extremely well educated on the topic and even gave us book suggestions. We had a great time!
Karen was an excellent guide and gave us a rich history lesson on the history of Brothels and prostitution in New Orleans. Interesting to hear about the lives and necessity of young women to engage in the oldest profession.
You will learn some interesting history about New Orleans and how the brothel business started and expanded.
Karen was great! Very respectful of the topic and informative and entertaining. We had a great time!
This was such a fantastic tour. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and you could tell she cared about this city and it's history. The stories about the different women and how they influenced history really put their lives into perspective.
A nice addition to my time spent in NOLA! Would highly recommend this tour. Christine was informative and had a passion for the topic.
Karen was funny and knowledgeable. Gave a great tour and was very engaging. I learned more than I thought possible! Looking forward to taking another tour with Two Chicks next time I'm in NOLA.
This was an enjoyable tour, the guide was very engaging and the other tour participants were also very fun and friendly. While there were not necessarily many buildings remaining to point out is was entertaining listening to the stories and we even stopped off for a cocktail towards the end of the tour!
This tour was very interesting and provided insight of the times during slavery and French occupation. Our guide (Karen) was funny and very knowledgeable.
We were excited to have a guide passionate and well read about the tour! It was a treat having her share extra local areas we could visit even after the tour to learn and see more.
We took both the Brothels Tour and the Garden District Walking tours and were lucky enough to have Christine as our guide for both. She was an excellent guide: informative without being dry, humorous without being silly. After each tour, she sent us reading lists and article links so we could learn more about whatever tidbit of information caught our interest. The pace was easy, and she managed to find shade for us to stand in for almost every stop. The Garden Tour especially was a great blend of historical information and modern goings-on about the neighborhood.
Highly recommend! We had a great time with Karen. She was super knowledgeable about the history of the French quarter and the women who shaped it. She gave us some book recommendations that I plan on checking out. We also stopped at some cool bars along the way.
Karen gave an incredible tour that really focused in on the people of the stories she told and not just the places (even though the buildings and surrounding area we walked through were gorgeous). Would recommend this to absolutely anyone who is looking for some history of NOLA that you might not find in your typical tourist must-sees.
Great overview of the Storyville prostitution district plus other madams and women working the trade before and after Storyville was in existence. Fun to stop in May Baily’s place for a rest and drinks and great trad jazz music — and it had been a house of prostitution at one time! Karen our tour guide was very knowledgeable and balanced well the fun parts of the topic against the hard social realities that women faced in the life. Definitely recommend!
The amazing Karen led us around the French Quarter for a fabulous exploration of the history of Storyville and how it came to be. As a recent transplant to New Orleans, I was thoroughly enlightened about my new home and it makes my experience of walking around these streets now much richer! Karen had seemingly non-stop facts and photos at hand for the whole two hours, and then we finished with a cocktail stop at one of the original brothels--now a beautiful bar dedicated to all the Ladies--to top it off. Wonderful experience from a true local expert!
Great tour. Karen was a fun and helpful guide. If this is something that would interest you don't miss it.
First time in NOLA and so glad my friend and I booked this tour. We came in December and the weather was nippy and Karen, our tour guide, was very aware of how cold we were. She made sure we were as comfortable as possible. We booked the evening tour, covering madames and brothels. It was a fun tour, Karen was very knowledgeable and passionate about the topics we covered and we walked a decent part of French Quarter. She didn’t try to sell us anything and she didn’t take us anywhere that we were pressured to buy or purchase anything. DEFINITELY coming back to NOLA and definitely going to book any other tours Karen hosts. She was fantastic!
We had a great tour. Karen was an amazing guide, very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend it.
A wonderful tour. I learned a lot and felt inspired by the stories. even received a reading list of references to enjoy on my own time.
Karen was incredible!!! She catered the tour to us, adding stops based on our questions. She was super knowledgeable about the city and its backstory, and came equipped with photos and book recs. Karen was so easy to talk to we ended up grabbing a drink with her at the end of the tour! (She was born and raised in NOLA and it’s clear on the tour— besides her in depth stories, other tour guides, bartenders and locals would stop to say a quick hello to her!) If you’re interested in the dark history of the city that’s sometimes hidden in plain sight this tour is an absolute must!
It was a great way to learn more about New Orleans. It felt like a sightseeing tour with a twist. Christine was great. She is well travelled and knowledgeable and answered all the questions with confidence. We were taken to two different bars for a drink. We walked down streets we would have never gone without this tour. And the group was very small (6) which made the tour a little bit more special. I have nothing bad to say!
Karen is amazing and this tour was wonderful. I know you have tons of options for tours in NOLA, but if you only have time for one tour, please pick this one. I am a licensed tour guide in New Orleans myself, and this tour was such a great experience - we laughed and learned and saw parts of New Orleans, I didn't even know about. Thank you Karen!
Our bordello tour with Karen was so fun and informative. It was eye-opening to hear what these women went through and how they survived against all odds. We are locals and this was a great way to get even more intimidate with our fascinating city!!
I've always heard wonderful things about this tour and it did not disappoint! Karen was our guide & she was wonderful! This isn't just any tour, it was a history class. An indepth lesson into the day & life of bordello girls of new orleans. We enjoyed a couple nice stops a lovely scenic saunter around the historic French quarter. I also enjoyed that Karen took her time to answer all of our annoying questions as well as provided tons of recommendations. I would take the tour again & recommend to friends & family. Thank you Karen!
Karen was fantastic! She was so knowledgeable and witty. She even recommended books for us to read afterwards. Highly recommend!
I love New Orleans and it’s history, culture, food etc and promised myself another trip once I finished my Degree. I have read a couple of books about Storyville and when I saw this tour, I thought it would be a great opportunity to learn more. Karen was an amazing host, friendly and accommodating, and full of knowledge and advice. She clearly has a lot of passion for the city, and history, which I loved. The service I received from this local business was highly efficient and went above and beyond what I expected - including book recommendations following the tour. It was a pleasure to meet Karen and a thoroughly enjoyable tour - would highly recommend Two Chicks Walking Tours - thank you! 🙂
Christine did a really nice job explaining how important women were (and still are!) to the economic and social success of New Orleans. Really liked the tie-ins with places we visited and never really knew about. Her book list alone is worth the tour!
Christina was a wonderful tour guide. You can tell she enjoys living in the area and is a wonderful representative of the city. There was no judgement in any of the discussion and it was very educational and very sex positive. Ask her to send you her reading list after, you are surely going to be interested in doing some of your own research on the topics and people she introduces you to!
