I booked it very last minute and they were still very accommodating. Nick was a very good guide. I appreciate how he would pick up litter along the way. He was very passionate about the wildlife. When I asked about native vegetation, he was informative and started pointing those out as well. Would recommend again.

We had a fabulous trip with birds, reptiles, plants, and mammals. Stephanie had a wide range and depth of knowledge and showed us some gems of the swamp. We saw a flock of swallow tailed kites catching insects on the wing - and eating them. What a sight. This topped off a barred owl and nesting herons
We had such a fantastic time on the water with Stephanie! Highly recommended doing the extended tour to really get to explore the area and time to watch wildlife! Appreciated the stop off at the services for a bathroom break before and after the water! Pickup was on time and meant we didn’t need a car in New Orleans. Was a perfect way to spend my birthday! Thank you
If you are considering doing the 4-hr extended tour DO IT! Our group was small, two couples, and one solo traveler. Each of us had different levels of kayaking experience but thanks to Nick's amazing introduction we were all prepared for a GORGEOUS afternoon on the water! With the extended tour we were able to really find all sorts of beautiful animals and learn from Nick's wealth of nature knowledge! It was really special that Nick helped us to find a beautiful mother owl!
Wow! Stephanie worked so hard to make my family have a perfect day. She checked in with us ahead of time about my children and their needs . She picked us up and chatted with us about the ecology of the area as she drove us to the swamp. She knew all of these wonderful paths through the swamp where we could truly feel like we were having a magical look into an environment that was really quite unfamiliar to us. One particularly memorable moment was when she guided us to focus on a particular tree as we all paddled toward it-- a barred owl swooped out from her hidden nest. Soon her mate joined her and they preened one another. It was really clear that this was a guide who knew the area well and wanted to help us to catch sight of all of the creatures and plants that we came to see but probably would have missed with a less careful guide. I would recommend our day with Stephanie and NOLA kayak to anyone. She made it an unforgettable experience.
We had a wonderful time on this tour, and our guide Nick was so passionate about the swamp, the birds, and kayaking. As a result, we engaged with many birds, learned about the swamp ecosystem, saw alligators, and had a great time.
We just came back from this tour and it was so much fun, what a great day. The swamp and all the wildlife were amazing and Stephanie our guide was a sweetheart and super knowledgeable about it all We’d do this one again for sure
Nick was a highly knowledgeable naturalist. He showed us wildlife and taught us about swamp life. We saw barred owls, baby gaitors and more. He accommodated the pace of the various participants, myself and a family.
Nick is an amazing guide! He led our large group of paddlers through the extended tour with so much knowledge it was incredible. Nick also gave us time to absorb the peace in the bayou- what a wonderful day
This was the best kayaking experience I have ever had. Our guide was excellent at spotting birds and animals, so we saw a lot of different birds and also so alligators over our trip, which was more than four hours. We went at a leisurely pace so that we could focus on seeing the wildlife.
I just finished the extended kayaking tour of Manchac Swamp and it was absolutely amazing! Our guide Stephanie was super friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about the swamp and its wildlife. I really appreciated how she tailored the tour to the group and made sure everyone felt comfortable and safe. Paddling through the serene waters, surrounded by cypress trees and Spanish moss, felt like stepping into another world. I loved seeing and hearing so many different birds. It was the perfect balance of adventure, relaxation, and learning. Highly recommended!
We loved our swamp tour. It was quiet and relaxing, but active. Beautiful scenery that we could be at one with. A few alligators
nolakayaktours@gmail.com We went on our first swamp kayak tour and this was a HIGHLIGHT of our time in NOLA! Our guide, Stephanie, was super knowledgeable, attentive, and made the experience fantastic. We saw so much- from alligators (many) to egrets, herons, owls, turtles, fish and even a water snake. Bravo!
We had the most amazing (!) and educational swamp kayak tour experience, led by Nick from Kayak Swamp Tours. Nick was incredibly knowledgeable about everything swamp related - from animal wildlife, geography, nature, history, conservation and future plans. We saw an amazing number of alligators, owls and many bird species, turtles and even deers running across drylands in the swamp. We cannot recommend Nick highly enough! Thank you so much!
It was a brilliant tour, one of the best things we did on our trip to New Orleans, Stephanie was a great guide and took time to explain the background to the swamp and the animals and birds that we saw. We were glad we took the longer tour as it enabled us to see much more.
Nick was our guide with a wealth of knowledge of the area, trees, and local wildlife. We had a great experience with him and our two other group members. We were able to go deep into the bayou which is what we were looking for.
We had an excellent day on the 4-hr Extended Manchak Swamp tour! We were glad we did the longer tour because we had time to go further in, where the swamp is completely different, narrower, and you’re completely surrounded by trees. Extremely peaceful and beautiful. Nick was an excellent guide—friendly, easy-going, and full of information on birds, trees, and ecology. He’s an excellent spotter! We saw alligators, egrets, barred owls, woodpeckers, turtles. It’s a full day with transportation and well worth it. Bring lunch and water and a snack for after. Thanks for a trip we’ll long remember, Nick!
What a great tour, and a little exercise. We are locals and to be honest do not do a lot of tours, but this one was special River picked us up on Rampart, and we headed out. We are not big Kayak people, in fact I only did it once. But River set us up (my husband and I) in one Kayak and we floated through the swamp. What a view of the trees, birds, and swamp creatures. We caught an alligator sleeping. On the way out stopped by the local gas station for real Boudin, home-made Jambalaya, and po-boys
Our guide nick was so full of knowledge about the local wildlife. I learned so much and had a great time
Our tour guide Michelle was very friendly and knowledgeable. We learned a lot about the flora and fauna of the area, including some edible plants, and how mature cypress forests can stop a hurricane. We saw a few alligators, a barred owl, a heron and other birds. The scenery was beautiful, it was very peaceful, clean, and felt remote even though it was not far from New Orleans. I highly recommend this tour if you would like to get out of the city and spend a few hours immersed in nature.
We spent a marvelous time in the swamp. Nick is a really good guide, passionated by birds, wild life, he share with us is knowledges about the swamps, the animals who lives there. We made a big loop far in the bayou, he was patient and took time to show us the spirit of the swamp. It was a really good experience for us
The swamp kayak tour was excellent. We saw some wildlife like owls and baby alligators. The guide (AJ) was personable and showed us a great time. We were the only ones signed up, and he still took us out on the water. He also made a great restaurant recommendation. No reservations or complaints. We had a great time.
This was a great time. Nice long and hot tour of the swamp. We were able to see alligators and other wildlife. Was casually guided so not like typical tours where you are forced into a small group. AJ did point out several interesting areas. Recommend that you are experienced and prepared for 4 hours on the water!
Our guide Nick was knowledgeable about the area and all the plants and critters. Had a fantastic time seeing a part of the world I didn’t know much about. Would recommend it highly. Fun and eye opening.
I went on the extended Manchac tour and cannot recommend this experience highly enough!!! Our guide, Nick, was stellar! His passion for and knowledge of that ecosystem really made it a magical adventure; we were not just traveling through it, we were a part of it! And so much wildlife!! Barred owls (& chicks), Great Egret, Anhinga, Scissor-tailed Kite, and.....Roseate Spoonbill!!! We had first-time paddlers and veteran paddlers and the experience was great for all of us. Already thinking about my next trip back!
This was the highlight of my trip. We saw a lot of animals and it was slightly overcast so it wasn't too hot. There weren't mosquitos out either (I went mid/late April). We saw baby alligators in the nest up close and a baby owl (plus the mothers)! AJ the guide was awesome!
Great trip super well organized, knowledgeable guide super friendly and adaptable. The extended tour allowed us to get deep into the Bayou and see alligators barn owls herons kytes and more.
The extended Manchak tour was totally worth the extra time and cost -- we got to paddle our way into some fascinating areas and see an incredible perspective of the area. Highly recommend this company and the extended tour!
A must do if you are the active type and want to see the swamps and bayous around Nola without scaring away the wildlife in an airboat. Well organized company, easy to find pickup spot, and the guides (Nick and MJ) were both welcoming and very knowledgeable and truly care about the delicate environment. This isn't a company that just wants your money, they want a good experience and it shows. The paddling wasn't difficult but a little kayak experience on a lake is probably needed. Highlight of my trip for sure.
Outstanding experience! I was very pleased with the length of this outing. AJ was the perfect guy to guide our group! He was very knowledgeable about the whole area and very patience in answering everyone's questions throughly. He took extra time pointing critters out to all of us, explaining their needs, habitat and what is now impacting the swamps. I would 1000x recommend booking this excursion and ask for AJ for an unforgettable experience! I don't have a single negative thing to say about the day!!
The swamp was gorgeous because spring was just beginning to turn the plants and trees bright green. Our guide, Ryan, was perfect. He was very easy going and very knowledgeable. The extended tour allowed us to get off the bayous and deep into the swamp, surrounded by plant life. I would recommend this trip to anyone!
The tour was fantastic! Our guide (thank you AJ!) made sure we saw the most wildlife possible and told us loads of interesting things about the plants, alligators, and birds of the area. I'm glad I chose the extended tour and would recommend it to anyone.
Excellent trip! Our guide Nick was extremely knowledgeable and informative. We learned so much about the swamp ecosystem and Nick picked out birds and gators that we would never have even noticed! Highly recommended!
Great paddle, beautiful landscape. Nick was a knowledgeable guide, we learned a lot! He was also punctual and gave lots of helpful local recommendations for after the trip.
Ryan was very informative. Paddling through the cypress trees was interesting. The weather could have been better but that's not the tour's fault.
Superb kayaking activity in New Orleans! The landscapes are simply inimitable, we take full eyes from beginning to end. Many thanks to our guide Stefanie, very friendly, efficient and passionate. She knew how to make the outing both safe and really pleasant. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to discover nature differently!
Great guide, knew “all” animals, saw this despite the camouflage, the paddle tour was fun, good equipment
Very nice trip to the Bayous with Chelsea, who also knew a lot about the history of the marshes. Although the wildlife has been quite decimated by the intensive hunting she has found some animals for us
We dared to do it! And were not disappointed - quite the opposite! We set off in a small group (4 people incl. guide) into the depths of the swamps in our small kayaks. Along the way we learned a lot about our surroundings without our great guide Alex (!) talking too much. Sometimes we just drifted away in the sound of the fantastic nature around us. But if we wanted to know something, Alex enlightened us with his expertise. We have seen many gators, an impressively large spider and soo many birds. There were hardly any mosquitoes and lanyard flies. We can only recommend the tour!
