Itinerary
Your guide will provide a warm introduction to the city and the neighborhood, outlining what is to come during your New Orleans walking food tour.
We will proceed on the culinary adventure, stopping at 5 unique food places that really showcase New Orleans culinary history. Between the food stops, your guide will narrate the quintessential history, culture, and food scene of one of New Orleans trendiest neighborhoods. You will be seated at 4 different restaurants for sit-down food tastings, and 1 tasting will be conducted standing on the sidewalk – hence our company name Sidewalk Food Tours.
Walking through the leafy, tree-lined streets amidst the towering antebellum mansions, you’ll see first-hand the Old World charm that makes New Orleans one of America’s most special cities.
The tour takes place right at the foot of Magazine Street, NOLA’s greatest shopping destination, with six gorgeous miles of every type of shop, restaurant and bar you can imagine. This tour features America’s most famous bologna sandwich, meal-sized gourmet donuts, and a mix of flavors from Korea, Vietnam, Mexico, and more!
We promise to leave your mind and belly fully satisfied by the end of our NOLA food tour of The Lower Garden District. Eat, walk, learn, be merry… and repeat!

Nikki did a great job taking us to some of the best restaurants in the garden district. The fried bologna sandwich from turkey and wolf was to die for.
Brian was fantastic, knowledgeable, and awesome. Food picks were perfect. Totally different and exciting. Great places that the average tourist would probably wouldn’t know to go to. I would only mention to the people who don’t like mayo, mustard, or sauces to just let him know in advance to get put on the side. I just scraped it off and it still was fantastic!!!!!
I had a great experience on the New Orleans Garden District food tour. One of the highlights for me was getting to try foods I probably wouldn’t have ordered on my own—everything felt thoughtfully selected and gave a real taste of the area’s culinary variety. Our tour guide, Brian, really made the experience stand out. He was incredibly knowledgeable and shared interesting history about the Garden District in a way that felt engaging and easy to follow, not overwhelming. We even had a brief interruption from a few pugs along the way, which honestly just added to the charm of the day—they were adorable and gave everyone a good laugh. Overall, it was a fun, informative, and delicious way to explore the neighborhood. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting New Orleans.
Our guide Brian was FABULOUS! Super knowledgeable about the places we were visiting and the food! Food was delicious at every stop! Each spot was vastly different from one another, but also meshed very well. We actually loved one of the places so much we went back the next day to order food to take home with us! I would do this tour again in a heartbeat.
The experience is well worth your time. It shows you a different face of New Orleans away from the French Quarter and everything creole and cajun. The food is a variety of new and old and our guide Kaffey was exceptional. She knew the history of NO, the food styles and was fun and engaging.
Kaffey was our guide and was full of facts about the lower garden district and was a bundle of fun energy. She was personable , accommodating, and engaging! The places we visited were favorites of the locals and each place was filled with people eating there. Food was yummy ! Our party of 6 really enjoyed it!!
Brian was a great tour guide. Very informative and fun to be with. The food was fantastic! Some of the best food I’ve had on a food tour. definitely worth going on this tour if you’re in New Orleans.
Our guide was fun and informative. He kept the tour moving along at an even pace and allowed the group time to get to know each other as we ate ourselves silly!
Very delicious and fun tour! Kaffey did an amazing job and help accommodate our family. Everything was great to try, the standout was definitely the chocolate house!
Great experience, Gordon is full of stories and great food recommendations. Easy walk, history and food for all.
This was an awesome tour and by far the favorite of our group. We had a small group of five which was fantastic and our guide was also fantastic!
What a great experience in the Garden District w/ Gordon! So great walking around/talking w/ him. He made a point of engaging w/ every person in the group! And the tastings were so great, plentiful, and varied!!
Kaffey was an amazing; knowledgeable and great tour guide on our food tour! Great food; great laughs! We learnt a lot about the garden district and New Orleans!
Kaffey was exceptional! We had a great time, great food. She is very knowledgeable about the history of New Orleans. I highly recommend this tour with Kaffey.
What a great tour… we were in town for T Swift & the whole tour was swifties! Fabulous & engaging host, great yet unique bites to eat, super way to start our Nola trip.
Our food tour with Kaffey was amazing!! The food was surprising and delicious. We had a lovely time getting to know the neighborhood and learning some local facts. Kaffey was kind, patient and perfectly customized our experience to fit our group’s needs. Highly recommend!!
Kaffey was an amazing tour guide. She not only explained all the details of the food we were eating but also talked about some history of the area and restaurants. She picked out all of our ‘meals’ and everything was phenomenal!! Awesome job!!!
We had a wonderful time. Great food. Our tour guide Kaffy was fantastic. She has a wonderful welcoming personality and told us about the area, food, and culture. She was so accommodating for me being gluten free as well. We highly recommend Kaffy and this tour
We had such a great time on our tour! Kaffey was so incredible and very knowledgeable about the area and the history of the restaurants we went to. The food was fabulous and the company was wonderful! I can’t wait to do another tour!
A great tour with Brian! The food was amazing and love the historical tour through the neighborhood too! It was perfect mix of savory & sweet!!
The tour was really enjoyable and it was nice to get out of the French Quarter for a bit and see some of the Garden District which is really pretty. Our tour guide Kaffey was super nice and informative. Would recommend for small groups and couples
Kaffey was a fantastic guide! We learned a lot and highly recommend this tour. Loved that this included eclectic spots that we would not normally have visited. You will be full at the end!
Amazing food and friendly/knowledgeable tour guide! Every dish was different and great, the variety of cuisines and dishes was a very cool way to get to know the Garden District. Highly recommend!
Kaffey was personable , very well informed and tailored the food choices to out tastes. Could not ask for more. Will recommend her tour to everyone .
I can't begin to explain how amazing Kaffey was. She engaged us from start to finish and explained to us the history of the foods were experiencing and so much more. We couldn't have asked for a better guide. Our restaurant stops were also amazing - everything we ate was delicious and we enjoyed every bite. My favorite was the tacos. Another great thing is how relaxing the tour is. As we went from restaurant to restaurant, Kaffey didn't hurry us, she allowed us to take our time and talked with us as we enjoyed our tastings. Wonderful experience and wonderful guide. 100% recommend.
First let me say that Kaffey was a great guide. She was informative, friendly and on point. She had great knowledge of the food and area. Turkey and the Wolf and Steins are definitely the highlights of the tour. The fried bologna from T&W was amazing and the pastrami from Steins was some of the best I’ve had in a while. Juan’s and Piety were good but not spectacular. The Korean place was not good. I don’t know if it was a bad day or what but we did not enjoy it. (Note: we have had Korean many times before and enjoy it). Overall we would recommend the tour.
Kaffey was a great host! We enjoyed her knowledge of the area, her choice of local food joints, and the owners who were also very welcoming! Great experience! This was not the overhyped foods like gumbo, but a wonderful local flare with tacos, sandwiches and more! She even gave us a list of other favorite spots. Thanks for the joy of food in New Orleans!

My wife and I really enjoyed the Lower Garden District Food Tour hosted by Kaffey. We found her to be informative about the different neighborhoods we visited and very efficient in insuring we had plenty of sample foods from the local restaurants. The array of different foods were delicious but it was Kaffey’s warm, friendly and engaging style that made our entire group feel comfortable making for a unique and pleasurable experience.
We had a great time on this tour and were really happy with everywhere we got to try food from! Kaffey was a great tour guide who was not only personable, but knowledgeable about local history and more. You can tell she really loves what she does! :) All of the tastings were great. I was really impressed and happy with the food I got to try as someone with dietary restrictions (lactose intolerant and pescatarian)! The other two in my party were also happy with their tastings and had a great time. They are from the Baton Rouge area and are very excited they have some new places to come back to eat at, as they frequent NOLA! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to try some awesome local food outside of the French Quarter!
We really enjoyed the food tour. We sampled tasty and very unique foods. Kaffey was super! She is knowledgeable about culture and food - and just very warm and personable! Definitely a fun thing to do in a city that is new to us
Food was delicious, neighborhood was gorgeous, and Brian was very knowledgeable about everything we asked. Great experience!
Lisa was an amazing story teller. So knowledgeable and a true historian. The food was amazing! We would highly recommend!
Tour was great - spent time learning about the area and seeing some of the places our trip to New Orleans would have never taken us. We were very happy to get out of the French Qtr and see the city; food was very good (just a tasting though). Had a lot of fun
Gordon was inviting and engaging as he explained the eateries. He encouraged interaction with great story telling on a lovely weather day tour.
Great tour with interesting information and awesome food. We tried food we would never try and went into cool restaurants that we would not primarily go to. It was great
Gordon took us on a great tour around the garden district as we sampled several different local restaurants. He also told us some local stories and history about the neighborhood along the way. This is a good food tour if you're looking for something different and not just Cajun/Creole type food!
Three of us took this tour, including my 84yo mother! The walking was about 1.5 miles, and not at a high pace. We took 5 tours over 3 days, and this was the very best by far! The guide was terrific and very knowledgeable about the area, especially post Katrina. The food was incredible from Turkey & the Wolf to Stein's Deli! If you are truly adventurous, you might consider the vegetarian option on this tour... as the many of the vegetarian options were even better than the originals!! 5 STARS all the way around!
Oh my word! The Garden District Food Tour was amazing! Kaffey was the best guide! She took us to amazing eateries (fyi - LARGE portions) and taught us a lot about the area along the way. Thanks, Kaffey!!
Really fun! Food choices were terrific and our guide Kaffey was amazing! Would go again in New Orleans or other city.
Gordon was a great knowledgeable fun tour guide. Thoroughly enjoyed the food, sights and company. We could've walked all day through the streets with Gordon. He chose delicious food we might have not chosen ourselves and that made it so fun.
Had a great time on this tour! Ate some absolutely delicious food and learned about a beautiful neighborhood. They easily accommodated vegetarian and allergy restrictions. Kaffey was a fantastic guide as well!
The food was so good. Fresh ingredients...it was wonderful. Our guide was great. She knew the food and the area very well. The donut, at the end of the tour, was to die for! I would do it all again in a heartbeat! Well worth the price!
Kaffey was great. Friendly and informative. We tried some of her recommendations for food and things to do and we were not disappointed. She deserves 5 stars. Gave 4 stars because we were not excited about the food choices of the tasting. Food was ok but wanted food more Native to New Orleans. Instead we had a sand which from a Jewish deli, Korean bbq, Mexican taco.
The tour is definitely worth your time and money. I’m a very picky eater and loved all of the food. The tour guide (Kaffey) was engaging and interesting. It was a wonderful afternoon.
This was a great food tour! Gordon answered all our questions and provided history as we went to different food spots. Even our teenager enjoyed!
This was well worth the money. Grace was a great tour guide. The stops were all unique and samples were plentiful. She also took us by some of the historic homes in the area, and we enjoyed hearing about the history and architecture. Definitely recommend.
Was not impressed with the food offered at some of the stops. Tour guide was knowledgable. Loved the tour itself
