Interesting tour. Janet was good guide. Pace was a bit slow but this is probably because there is not a great deal of Jewish history in New Orleans!

We thoroughly enjoyed our Jewish history tour of New Orleans with Janet. She is a lovely, gracious lady with a wonderful knowledge of the city’s Jewish heritage. She shared fascinating stories, historical details, and little-known facts that we would never have discovered on our own. What made the experience especially enjoyable was Janet’s personal storytelling. She brought the history to life with interesting anecdotes and insights that gave us a deeper appreciation for the Jewish community and its place in New Orleans history. The tour was leisurely, with very little walking, making it comfortable and easy to enjoy. Janet is an absolute sweetheart, and we appreciated the time, care, and knowledge she shared with us. A lovely way to discover a side of New Orleans that many visitors might otherwise miss!
Had a fantastic tour with our tour guide, Janet Gross. She took us on a great tour of the river and French Quarter areas. She was interesting and entertaining and followed up with extra info by email. Highly recommend if you want to learn more about the Jewish experience in New Orleans.
Janet was an amazing tiur guide. She had an abundance of information about the Jewish contributions to the New Orleans community. We had a small group and she answered all questions. I would highly recommend her tour to anyone. She was an A+ tour guide.
Janet gave us a new perspective om the history of the city. The tour was like walking with a friend who told interesting stories while having a wonderful conversation.
Very informative tour. Our guide Janet was friendly and knowledgeable and we had the advantage of a very personal service as we were the only participants. The time flew by, and we certainly enjoyed it.
This tour was a fascinating, fun and interactive history lesson with Janet who not only knows Jewish history in NOLA, but its impact on the overall culture here. She was more than happy to entertain questions and dig deep into her considerable knowledge about Jews from the 1700's to present in an engaging way. Plus, she dodged in and out of the rain with good humor, grace and panache.
Fascinating overview of local Jewish history. We knew very little about this aspect beforehand. Never would have seen the magnificent Agam Holocaust Memorial without Janet’s taking us there and explaining it to us. It was so helpful to receive, after the tour, a summary of what was presented. A well paced walking tour with a will versed guide.
The tour was great! Janet is so knowledgeable and is wonderful relaying this knowledge to us! I could have toured with her all day. 3 hours went too quickly!
My friend and I had a wonderful time with Janet! She is a wealth of information and she shares it with great passion. I learned a lot and saw things I would have easily missed on my own. Janet is a joy to spend time with and she (and her tour) was a highlight of our trip to NOLA.
We really enjoyed learning about Judah Benjamin, Touro and seeing the beautiful Woldenberg Park and its Holocaust memorial. Most of all, we had fun with Janet, whose knowledge is deep as is her sense of humor!
We had a great Jewish History of New Orleans tour with Janet. We were happy that we were able to take the tour despite terrible attack that happened in the city just the day before. Janet gave us the options to either cancel or move the tour, or proceed as scheduled. We were the only couple on the tour. Janet is extremely knowledgeable and easy to talk to, and we learned so much about the Jewish history, not just in NO, but in the South in general. We had a nice walk through the city and were able to see a lot. We would highly recommend taking this tour with Janet.
Janet was great and super knowledgeable about Jewish and New Orleans history! We enjoyed the tour a lot. It was also nice that it was just two families.
New Orleans doesn't have much of a Jewish history -- or Jewish population -- so there really wasn't much to see or learn about on this tour. But it was interesting to see the Holocaust Memorial :)
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Janet. She is knowledgable, warm, and a good storyteller. This tour is great add to one's understanding of New Orleans.
Janet was extremely knowledgeable and provided great insight on the Jewish history of New Orleans as well as the overall history of New Orleans. A great tour!
We absolutely enjoyed the NOLA Jewish History Tour. I grew up in New Orleans and learned so many things that I would have never known if I hadn't taken this tour. There are so many amazing Jewish influences in the city that don't get recognition! This is a walking tour but it's very easy and reasonable for anyone that can take a leisurely walk with rests. The tour is all in the French Quarter so you can access it by walking from any hotel/accommodation in the FQ. Highly recommend!!
Our tour guide, Janet was excellent and the tour was everything I had hoped it would be. Very informative and extremely interesting.
Touring New Orleans with David was like walking through a new town with an old friend. He was knowledgeable, personable, and an expert storyteller. The Jewish History Tour was one of the best tours we've done in a long time.
This tour was amazing. Our guide, David, was incredibly knowledgeable and made the history come alive for us. We learned so much and have already recommended it to many friends.
great tour..great guide..novel information...definitely worthwhile..small group..see another side of Nola
David Feldman gave a terrific tour. He’s exceptionally well informed and enthusiastic about the subject- Jewish history in New Orleans. He offered amazingly detailed stories and also provided a generic history of the city and region. David’s very good at answering questions and showing interest in his customers. We would love to hear more from David and encourage others to book him for this unique tour.
Had a wonderful guide who shared lots of New Orleans history and particularly the Jewish involvement which was significant . We loved the Agam holocaust memorial at a most beautiful location. Suzanne moved us around to view some important people and their roles in New Orleans growth.
Suzanne was fantastic! We appreciated her promptness and she is so knowledgeable about the history of New Orleans, especially the Jewish aspect. We learned so much. We highly recommend her. Her explanation of the Holocaust memorial was so helpful! We really enjoyed meeting her!
Very good tour. Suzanne is knowledgeable and very interesting. Because of the nature of the tour (walking through the Quarter) the history goes back and forth from early 20th century to pre-Civil War than post-Civil War, then post-WWII, etc. All of it quite interesting, but many vignettes as opposed to a narrative of Jewish history. Definitely worth your time to take this tour
There was more to hear than to see. One memorable sight was the Holocaust Memorial. It was amazing! For most of the tour we heard stories of prominent Jews and philanthropists who helped New Orleans thrive. The stories were interesting but sometimes hard to hear because of all the street noise and music. It would have been helpful to wear headsets where we could amplify the sound when needed.
Suzanne was so knowledgeable and interesting. I appreciated her wide knowledge of both the history of New Orleans and the modern Jewish community.
Suzanne was a fabulous guide, such a wealth of knowledge, great story-telling, well-paced. This tour exceeded my expectation. Highly recommended. Spoiler alert: without Jewish support, inspiration, preservation, chutzpah, and love of all things cultural, today's NOLA would be noticeably lacking in the richness and depth we all love!
Our guide Susanne Stone was excellent - very well informed. She made our two hour tour fly by! We learned so much! Then, she sent us a synopsis of everything she spoke about. What a great souvenir! Hannah and Elliot Levine, Montreal Quebec
Suzanne was very informative and a lovely person to spend the afternoon with. She was impressed w how the artist Agan structured the holocaust memorial. I was impressed that she was able to explain the piece of work from so many angles, that made it all make sense.
Suzanne was a wonderful delight. Very informative and charming. I kept saying to myself ‘I had no idea’ The tour was relaxing, we never felt rushed, yet she fit so much in.
I enjoyed the spots we visited , the history & story of each location. History of people of New Orleans who were influential was enlightening.
Very informative and very personable guide. She was very passionate about the city and encompassed all the highlights of the city
We walked Jewish New Orleans with Suzanna, an excellent and knowledgeable guide who exposed us to amazing stories, facts and anecdotes about Jewish and ethnic N. Orleans. Incorporating history, architecture and Jewish cultural philanthropy with key locations made for a fantastic 2 hour walking trip which we had the privilege of being exposed to. A MUST for everyone who loves New Orleans.
This tour piqued my curiosity because I've always heard and read about the influence on New Orleans from the French, Spanish, Sicilians, Germans, etc. but hadn't heard much about the Jewish history and I was eager to learn more. Suzanne is a great guide. She knows her history and even works to adapt the tour to the interests of the folks on the tour. And this specific tour really provided another perspective on New Orleans discussing some of the outsized influence of the Jewish community on many of the places across the city I know and love. Thanks for a great and informative tour!
