This is our family favorite experience in NOLA. Chef Raymond made us feel like we were in our own kitchen. We learned so much and even though some of of thought we were culinary gods and goddesses, the stuff we learned from Chef Raymond took our experience and knowledge levels to the next pinnacle. Thank you, we had a ball, we learned so much and the food was delicious.

One of the only hands-on cooking class's in town. Clean establishment. Great recipes.
This was a great activity. It was relaxing and fun. Chef Barry was really a great facilitator/ cook . I would definitely do this experience again when I return to New Orleans.
The trip was cancelled the day before because there was no teacher for the class. We are still awaiting our credit card refund.
Chef Ramon was tremendous. Even though I cook almost every day, I literally learned something with each dish. Very healthy way to enjoy good cooking with a top chef .
Raymond is a very good teacher, an excellent cook. We signed up for another class from him, which will be in a couple days. We had the jambalaya, barbecue shrimp, and bread pudding class today. We’re going to go back for the root class. This class will have gumbo, étouffée and bananas foster
Sally was great! Learned lots of neat tricks and it was very hands on. The food was also very yummy.
It was a very enjoyable experience . Cheif Connor was a great host . He showed extraordinary patience even thou we were running a few minutes late . He never made us feel like he was rushing us . He made the experience feel like we were back at home just with someone in our kitchen walking us through the process. The food we made was impressive , the taste and amount of left overs made our day . We were unable to eat more later on that night due to us still being full from this meal . I was impressed with the second course meal barbecue shrimp. It was served on sourdough bread po boy style. My wife is against any seafood that is served on bread .she ate it after tasting the sauce made . ( it was just that good) the future plan is to return and repeat the experience in the near future it was just that good .my words of advice " if you are on the fence about trying it , just do it , you will enjoy and have delicious food in the process ". Tell next time
Mark was our instructor and he did a good job. I was expecting to see some black instructors, since that is what was depicted on the advertisement at the time that I booked, however I didn’t. Perhaps they weren’t scheduled for that day… nonetheless, it was an experience that me, my sister and boyfriend enjoyed a lot.
Wonderful experience! Delicious food!
Ray was fantastic! We were thinking 3 hours might be long after a day of site seeing but Ray made the time fly by with his stories, cooking knowledge and overall fun nature. Learned some cooking tips, meet some great people and enjoyed the hands on experience. Fantastic food with wonderful flavors and great venue. Highly recommend. See you in South Dakota on the Harley soon Ray!
This was a fantastic experience! We both love to cook and have made gumbo, jambalaya, etc. before, but we decided to do this for fun and pick up a few tips and tricks. Chef Sassy was great. She taught us cooking techniques as well as some local history and methods. We learned the difference between Cajun and Creole cooking, and the end results were simply delicious. We started by making chocolate chip bread pudding. I’m not usually a big bread pudding fan, but this version was decadent, especially with the chocolate brandy sauce. We also made Cajun jambalaya and BBQ shrimp—absolutely delicious. One of the best parts was that we got to enjoy the food we prepared while sipping wine and beer throughout the class. It was an intimate, hands-on experience with only one other couple, who were fun and conversational. We enjoyed their company as well as Chef Sassy’s. Highly recommend! Sassy even shared some of her favorite restaurant recommendations in the city, which was a great bonus. A wonderful way to learn about New Orleans cuisine while enjoying a memorable afternoon.
Raymond was absolutely wonderful! The food was great, he made it a fun experience. He answered everyone's questions with kindness and patience, he didn't make you feel rushed. I would highly recommend this class!
My husband and took the 6 PM class. We loved the experience and the food. We’re excited to keep making the recipes at home.
The best 2-3 hours spent in the French Quarter. We felt at home from the get-go and really learned a lot while having fun and enjoying an awesome meal! Chef Mark was very helpful and gave us many tips about prep, ingredients, and spices. In addition, he recommended some Creole and Seafood restaurants in NOLA that were spectacular!
Excellent time, small group very friendly chef (Ramond) made it entertaining for all and food was awesome!
A true New Orleans foodie dream! Chef Raymond was exceptional. His extensive knowledge and enthusiasm contributed to a fabulous experience. We learned a great deal and feel like we can recreate this magic in our own kitchens. The only disappointment was that we were not allowed to keep our aprons. Another Cooking School in NOLA gifted us their aprons and we were anticipating keeping the great purple ones we wore today. We wholeheartedly recommend this experience!
Such a great experience and class! We learned new techniques and the history of the amazing food in this region. Chef Erica was awesome
This was our favorite experience in NOLA. The food was great, we learned new skills and our teacher/chef was wonderful. We would do this again in a heartbeat!
Absolutely FANTASTIC!! This event was well thought out, planned, and executed. The food was so flavorful and it was EASY to do! There are possibilities for each person at the table to take part in the cooking, and the instructions are easy to follow. They also have staff constantly running around to assist where needed, and the history lesson about how the food of New Orleans came to be was incredibly interesting! They made exceptions for food allergies, AND food preferences, like vegetarians. All in all this was a wonderful experience and I will definitely be going back!
Chef Raymond did an amazing class. We learned so much about the history of the foods we were cooking. This class was fun for all ages and the food was phenomenal. Chef Raymond loves to cook and is a fantastic teacher, I learned so much! Thanks
Such a fun experience with a fun group. Sassy was extremely knowledgeable about cooking and even gave great recommendations of local restaurants.
Chef Sassy was amazing!! I enjoyed the class and can’t wait to sign up for another one! I learned a lot and looking forward to learning more!
Chef Mark was absolutely amazing. He was personable, funny, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient throughout the entire class. He took the time to make sure everyone understood each step of the cooking process, which made the experience both educational and enjoyable. What made the class even more special was how he shared so much New Orleans history and culture while we cooked. It truly felt like more than just a cooking class—it was a full NOLA experience. We prepared jambalaya, New Orleans–style BBQ shrimp, and chocolate bread pudding, and every single dish was absolutely delicious. The flavors were incredible and authentic. I would highly recommend this class to anyone who loves great food, great energy, and learning the stories behind the dishes. Chef Mark made the experience unforgettable.
Cozy, informative and fun. Raymond knew what he was doing. Everyone was entertained and food was wonderful
had an amazing experience at this cooking class in New Orleans! We learned how to make classic Louisiana BBQ shrimp and a rich, flavorful jambalaya from scratch, and it was hands down one of the highlights of my trip. The instructor was incredibly knowledgeable, not just about the recipes, but about the history and culture behind the dishes. They broke everything down step by step, explained why certain techniques matter, and shared helpful tips that made the process feel approachable and fun. Whether it was balancing the spices in the jambalaya or getting that perfect buttery, garlicky sauce for the BBQ shrimp, every detail was thoughtfully explained. The class was well organized, interactive, and engaging. We were not just watching, we were chopping, stirring, seasoning, and really learning. By the end, I felt confident I could recreate both dishes at home. If you are visiting New Orleans and want a true taste of the city while learning from someone who clearly loves what they do, I highly recommend this class. Delicious food, great instruction, and a fun, authentic experience all around!
What a great time! Planned this class as part of our honeymoon. Chef Raymond was amazing! The bbque shrimp, jambalaya and bread pudding was delectable! Will definately take another class on our next trip! Thank you so much! Highly recomended!
Fun, delicious, and learned so many tricks and tips for cooking in general. A clean space and fantastic teacher, chef mark, who shared about his family and love for cooking.
Shrimps with a delicious sauce, followed by an incredible Jambalaya and for dessert a bredpudding that surprised us all
We had a large group, for a double birthday celebration, and Chef Sassy was phenomenal!! 2 grumpy teenagers took her only half a recipe, bread pudding, to get them engaged and cooking away with us all! My wife and I cook at home regularly and even we learned some awesome tips for making our Nola favorites even better! Can’t wait to come back and try a few of their other classes!!
The entire experience was spectacular. The environment was clean, the recipes were delicious, and the kitchen tools and instruction were easy to use and follow. Chef Erika made sure everyone had a great time, explaining the history behind Louisiana cuisine and offering insight into her culinary career. Our family could not have had a better time. A****
Mark is an excellent host and teacher! We had a great time with good conversations and good! We learned a lot as well. Thank you for the fun!
My husband and I loved this cooking class. It was informative, fun, and best of all got to eat what we cooked! Great date fun and learned more than just what we cooked. Raymond was our instructor and he was wonderful! We had a blast!!
A great time. Ray was so much Finn. The food was fantastic. The food preparation was a blast. Highly recommended. Would definitely take a class again.
Chef Jason was great and the food was phenomenal! Step by step instructions in a fun atmosphere. Definitely will be back and definitely recommend!
So much fun. Recipes that we can definitely make at home. Chef was funny, engaging and VERY knowledgeable. Best cooking class we have done in NOLA!
Fabulous! We had an amazing time learning about local food culture and making delicious meals with Chef Jason💚 We love traveling and taking cooking classes anywhere we go and this was one of the best in terms of Chef experience, delicious recipes, and environment.
My two friends and I took this Cajun cooking class. Our chef instructor patiently tutored us in the intricacies of crafting Cajun dishes, all while spinning amusing tales of his background and prior experience. I learned several cooking techniques that I apply to my normal home cooking practices. Highly recommended!
Chef Raymond was excellent. He kept the class engaged and added interesting extras. Yhe steps were clear and moved at a pace that suited the class: not too fast, not too slow. The dishes were delicious and I feel confident I can repeat them at home. I attended a class at Mardi Gras School of Cooking, which was equally excellent. I intend to return for another class on my next trip.
What a great activity for a group of people. The chef and staff were attentive to all and gave lots of helpful tips. The food was delicious! All of the participants were asking when we could do it again :-)!
Mark was a very knowledgeable chef who made this class simple for us. We took our teenage son and had a great family night out!
Chef Mark made all the dishes so easy to make. There was a lot of delicious food! I learned some new cooking tips which I look forward to trying when I get home. The class was great fun and Tracey was so hospital and kind. Highly recommend!
What an awesome cooking class with Chef Raymond. There was ourselves and another couple in the class today. We take cooking classes often and yet learned a lot of new tips and techniques from him, This time we took the Traditions cooking class and made Barbecued Shrimp,Jambalaya with chicken, sausage and tasso and a chocolate bread pudding with a mocha brandy sauce. We were able to bring leftovers home with us. Such a great class and Chef Raymond was very personable and kept us all laughing. Can’t wait to have another class with him.
We went two times in a row. It is basically a gourmet lunch but you get to be part of the cooking process - easy part since all the prep and clean is done for you - all. We took Traditional Class and Creole Class. Both were excellence. Easy recipes. And absolutely delicious! All you can drink wine/beer/bubbles and large portion of food (we had to take some to go!) We had Chef Raymond the first time and requested him for our second class a week later. He is funny, full of stories, and a fabulous chef.
This was so fun and delicious. My whole family had a great time cooking and laughing. Chef Jason was a terrific instructor. He really made our experience 5 stars!!!
We had an incredible time. Chef Jason was like a member of the family by the end of the class. He shared all kinds of trip from his teas in the business and lots of stories that kept the evening fun and our family laughing. Will definitely do again.
Our group of four had a wonderful experience as Raymond guided us through the development of a delicious Cajun meal. I highly recommend the New Orleans Cooking School.
We had a fantastic time! Mark our Chef was friendly, fun and we left great cooking tips! I would highly recommend the class!
We had a great experience with Chef Erica: enjoyed the history of local cuisine, her personal cooking tips and, of course, a delicious meal. This was one of the highlights of our trip and a memorable experience which we highly recommend.
This cooking class was a highlight of our anniversary trip! We took the New Orleans Creole Class at Mardi Gras School of Cooking and can’t recommend it enough. Chef Mark was engaging, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about Louisiana cuisine. Tracy was so kind and welcoming—it set the tone for a great experience. We made classic Creole dishes: Corn and Crab Bisque, Shrimp Creole, and Pecan Pralines—each one was absolutely delicious. The kitchen was clean, well-organized, and climate controlled. (Bring a light jacket!) It's located near Jackson Square and Bourbon Street, but once you're inside, it's quiet and cozy. Before leaving, grab one of their T-shirts and seasoning blends—they’re perfect souvenirs. We’re already planning to come back next year!
