Our guide Tracy was very knowledgeable and shared many interesting facts with us. The tour was largely shaded which was helpful in the heat. There was a break in the middle at Le Petit Bleu where we were able to purchase drinks and use the restroom. Two points to note, first the sidewalks are very uneven so if accessibility is a concern this would be a problem for this tour. Also the end point was not near the beginning, so plan for a walk back. Also plan some extra time for finding parking.

Itinerary
Cemetery is restricted, so we'll talk about its history and see the tombs from the gate, and learn about the founding of our city, our unique burial practices, famous locals interred here, and our strong French and Catholic influence. It was a location for Hollywood blockbusters such as Interview with the Vampire and Double Jeopardy, as well as hit TV show The Originals.
After your refreshing break our group will venture out into the gorgeous Garden District where you might even catch a glimpse of a celebrity! The beautiful antebellum homes will take your breath away, and the stories that accompany them are always entertaining and sometimes even shocking. This tour is a wonderful change of pace from the French Quarter crowds, and will give you a fun and interactive historical experience you will never forget.
We will see the Women's Guild of the New Orleans Opera, used as a production office for Jaime Foxx movie Django Unchained, directed by Quinten Tarantino.
This famous house was the home where horror author Anne Rice wrote some of her novels.
End near Magazine Street, New Orleans' best uptown street for shopping, food, art galleries, and more!
The largest home in the Garden District, at almost 24,000 square feet. It was also a famous location for the TV show American Horror Story: Coven.

Tracy was AMAZING! So fun, knowledgeable, witty and engaging. Two hours felt like 30 mins. The Garden district tour is a must for either the seasoned New Orleaneans or the out of towner tourist. I found the graveyard information fascinating, the old homes intruging and the history was scandalous!
This is a fabulous tour, and Tracy is so knowledgeable and so funny. Even when we went off on little bunny trails in our conversation of the history of the Garden District, she pulled us back into reality. There is so much to know, and she knew it all! Five stars, hands down.
Walked with Tracy on a Monday night, ended up being a private tour. Had a wonderful time, she knows her stuff and is quick witted about it! Both a good history tour as well as haunts! Would do it again with my sister who is obsessed with ghost stories
I enjoyed this tour very much! Guide Tracy presented tons of historical information on the beautiful homes and famous and infamous occupants in a funny and interesting way. She really knows her stuff. Also learned a lot about the cemetery and history of New Orleans. (Tours inside the cemetery are no longer allowed due to stupid people who apparently disrespected or vandalized it), but we were right outside and able to see some of it. Took a short break at a cute coffee shop owned by Commander’s Palace which was convenient for a bathroom break or to purchase a refreshment or other items. Wear good walking shoes and watch your step on the sidewalks. Altogether an enjoyable tour with a great guide. Thanks Tracy!
Tracy was knowledgeable and entertaining. Giving the tour a 3 only because the walking was difficult due to the sidewalk being broken and tree roots needed to be avoided. Two members of our group had to leave early due to this, one guest fell and skinned her arm.
Tracy was an excellent tour guide. She had a lot of knowledge about the history of the garden district and some gossip about it too! She was friendly and approachable and made the tour fun! An excellent way to spend the afternoon in New Orleans! Thanks Tracy!
Josh was an amazing guide, he was super knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the history of the garden district we highly recommend taking a toor with them!
We had an incredible time on the *Garden District Secrets and Scandals Tour*! Our guide, **Dane**, was absolutely fantastic — knowledgeable, funny, and full of great stories that brought the neighborhood’s history (and gossip!) to life. From the stunning architecture and celebrity homes to the juicy tales of old New Orleans society, every stop was entertaining and insightful. Dane had the perfect balance of history, humor, and charm — you can tell he really loves what he does. We walked away with a deeper appreciation for the city’s character and some great insider tips for where to eat and explore next. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting New Orleans — it’s a perfect mix of beauty, mystery, and fun!
It’s an easy paced tour of some of the top homes of interest. Our guide was local and a pleasure! We liked it!
This was advertised as a secrets and scandals tour and was more of a historical/architectural tour. I know this city has some scandals we didn’t hear about
Loved it! Josh was amazing! So much knowledge of the area. Our group had never been to NoLA and Josh gave us so much history
Josh was really knowledgeable and friendly. Beautiful area and the house are beautiful and so much history. It was a great tour.
Tracy was a wonderful guide. She was full of information. Such great energy and fun. We enjoyed the stolen at Le Petit Bleu.
Great tour. Small group and very informative. Guide was knowledgable and entertaining. Would recommend
Walked around garden district with a smaller group , this was nice as we were able to get to know each other and share recommendations for the city. Our guide was familiar with the area and even some of the locals. Included a mid way break at the rink for food/drink/restroom which was appreciated.
Tracy was awesome! We loved the stories of the old rich French folks mixed in with random celebrity homes. As well, the stories of the Americans on the west side and how the city was split along Canal St. She has an appreciation for the true history and does a wonderful job. Thank you!
Pretty straightforward tour, good sights, a nice break at a cute cafe and bookshop, with some lunch reccos at the end. There are lots of tours which were also around us which was a little tricky.
Tracy was an amazing guide. She was so knowledgeable and very lively. We enjoyed her tour so much. We would definitely recommend this tour
Our tour guide, Stephanie, was amazing! So funny and charming. She told is great stories and kept us engaged the entire time.
We had an amazing day. The guide was so fun and very knowledgeable. We walked at a nice leisurely pace and soaked in a lot of NOLA history!
Nice stroll through the suburbs and to hear stories about the people and places to be found there. Conducted at a leisurely pace but not too slow with a comfort break at a mid point. Good to get away from the centre of town and see life a little more leisurely. Would recommend as a part of you city break
Josh was a great tour guide, he was very informative and funny. Our group was a small one so that was nice.
We had a great tour with Josh, he’s an excellent guide with a deep knowledge of New Orleans history and current politics. It was a small tour of just the three of us which was perfect since my mom has difficulty hearing, so she was able to hear everything clearly. Josh answered my many questions and even recommended some good books! Highly recommend.
Our guide was hilarious and informative. She shared cool stories and history about the homes and the city. She even stayed and chatted with us for a bit after the tour was over.
The houses were amazing and our host gave us very fun and interesting facts about them and the neighborhood. Highly recommended!
The group size was perfect. The guide spoke loud enough for everyone to hear. We learned a lot about the history behind many of the houses and who currently occupies them. Loved knowing where the rich and famous live.
Tracy was an INCREDIBLE tour guide! She was a wealth of information, gossip, and history. Absolutely spectacular tour through the Garden District, with great info on architecture as well as the scandals and history of the historical and more recent owners of the homes.
My daughters and I had a great time with our guide, Josh. The two hour tour was filled with new information, even for Louisiana locals. Josh was entertaining and answered all of our questions. I will definitely recommend this tour and company to friends visiting NOLA.
Awesome tour! The guide was super knowledgeable and made everything so much fun. We learned a lot and had a great time, highly recommend!
Fascinating history of the Garden district. I loved the architecture, and the explanation of the burials! I also enjoyed the quiet, after spending time in the French Quarter. LOL. Our tour Gide was excellent. Nancy
It was very informative and entertaining. Our guide was nice, smart, and funny. The houses were stunning. The fall weather and light rainfall made me feel like I was in an Anne Rice novel.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the area. He exuberantly explained the burial process of the time. He showed us pictures of the inside of the homes we visited. And, he knew which Hollywood movie stars lived in what house and what movies were filmed in them.
Loved hearing about all of the architecture and history behind the garden district. The houses were beautiful. Even got to see Miss Robichaux's Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies from American horror story! Thanks Tracy for sharing your knowledge and passion with us!
Tracey was so full of personality and good humor, sharing so much history and knowledge of NOLA that we wished we were staying longer so that we could enjoy more of her tours! I look forward to coming back and hearing more. Thank you, this was a highlight of our trip!
Our tour guide Jackson was amazing! Friendly and very knowledgeable. He should write a book! I would recommend this tour to everyone. Great way to get a history of New Orleans with a touch of the details not in the mainstream textbooks. We were the only two on the 2pm tour, so it was like an afternoon walk with a local friend.
fun tour great information And the guide was really entertaining. Even our 4 year old had fun. Lots of information and laughed must do tour
Our tour guide was very nice. He was very informative, gave us some extra touring and also a prize with a polo round picture. He made it a very memorable end of our vacation .
Jackson's impeccable timing was a plus. He was able to keep our small group away from the larger, louder tours so we could focus on his knowledge of history and stories of the area. He managed to direct us to the shady spots while we stopped to observe. Questions were encouraged throughout the tour. I prefer the smaller group tours and our party of 4 was perfect.
We had a blast being guided by Jackson! My 17 year old daughter and I booked last minute and he even took the time to call us since we were running late :) We loved his historical facts and architectural details. We’ve been on a lot of walking tours and this one was one of the best!
Jackson asked if we could switch our Saturday for Sunday and that was fine. We were the only 2 on the tour and it was great for us. We took the St. Charles streetcar and met at Layfayette Cemetery #1. I chose this tour because it advertizes as small, which shows he cares more about the experience than the money. Jackson's such a nice, mellow guy, very knowledgeable about the Cemetery and Commander's Palace right across the street. Families were coming and going for Easter brunch, all dressed up. A nice Southern tradition in this era of people slouching off to church in their pajamas. He knows good stuff about these fantastic houses, their well know residents, past and present, and the architects that built them. Their Hollywood connections, some juicy gossip, what kind of plants and trees grow in the yards and secret gardens.. This beyond charming neighborhood is framed with lichen covered Southern Live Oaks, you can smell the Magnolia and Sweet Olive trees blooming and the heavy perfume of the flowering Jasmine - but watch your step, massive roots have cracked and buckled the sidewalks - it only adds to the somewhat decadent, haunted ambiance of the Garden District, I hope they never fix them.
We really enjoyed walking the neighborhood and learning a bit more NOLA history with a twist. Having a small group (3 people total) was a bonus - you could hear everything the tour guide shared.
Jackson was a great guide and storyteller - you can tell he's done his research and knows his local history (and historic scandals!). The small group was really nice compared to the larger tour groups I'd experienced earlier in my trip.
We loved the Garden City tour. Jackson was super nice, helpful and knowledgable. I loved the pace of the tour and I really appreciated all the pictures that he shared with us along the way. It was a great way to see the Garden District and learn some interesting history at the same time. I also love that they specialize in small group tours so you really get a valuable experience. I definitely recommend any of their tours.
This was a super fun and informative way to learn about the garden district! Our favorite tour we did in New Orleans. The small groups make the tour feel more personal and our guide Jackson was so knowledgable. There wasn’t a single question we asked he didn’t have a thorough answer for, and he did a great job engaging the interests of everyone on our tour. At 2 hours, we really felt like we got our money’s worth. We highly recommend having a guide if you go to the garden district, and if you get one book with Spectral City!
We had a wonderful time on this tour. Jackson, our tour guide was friendly, laid back and very knowledgeable. Loved that the tour was a small group which made it easy to hear as well as see the photographs of the interiors of the houses that were visited. Jackson also gave us a lot of fun facts about the architecture, local stories, and the celebrities in the area. Highly recommended tour!
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Jackson. Very informative. Family of 5 (3 teens). Everyone enjoyed the tour. We highly recommend.
Our tour guide guide, Jackson, was very knowledgeable and made our Garden District tour both fun and interesting!
Knowledgeable and super friendly tour guide. He had a lot of stories about the houses in the neighborhood to share and we loved it! We had a great experience. We had walked around in the Garden District on our own a couple of years ago but it was so much better with a tour guide to fill you in on some of the history and fun facts.
My teens and I loved this tour full of great architecture and stories about the houses, the people, and the city during the period this neighborhood was developed. It was a highlight our trip to New Orleans. The tour guide Jackson was engaging and knowledgeable.
