My family and I toured the French Quarter with Matthew during our stay in New Orleans. We had him all to ourselves, which allowed us to pepper him with a myriad of questions. He was so knowledgeable about the history and folklore of the city. In addition, his mastery of the French language gave us the opportunity to learn more about the French language and culture in the region, given that we hail from Montreal, Quebec. Matthew was funny, engaging, and entertaining, even for our two teenagers. This tour was the highlight of our visit, and we highly recommend Matthew and your company to anyone eager to explore the French Quarter.

I’m so glad we took this tour on the first morning of our visit. Our guide, Daniel, is highly knowledgeable about local history. We got a great introduction to New Orleans founding and cultural background, architecture in the quarter and interesting characters. You’ll want to wear comfortable shoes, since you’ll be on your feet a couple of hours. And bring water and a fan. Before the tour, he sent us clear info on where to meet him and was available if we had questions after the tour. You won’t regret this tour!
We did the French Quarter Walking Tour and learned so much! I am glad we did this tour early on in our vacation because it made every walk through the French Quarter more rich because of all we learned! ! Mathew was a wonderful guide, he had a storytelling approach that incorporated a wide range of historical facts! Again the tour was wonderful! Highly recommended!
Matthew gave us a punchy, informed and interesting tour. We covered a wide area of the French Quarter, and the tour itself was a good mixture of history, legend and humor. Matthew was clearly interested in his tour topic. He kept the pace without rushing, and offered lots of opportunities to ask questions. Matthew was charming and personable.
Daniel was the guide. He was extremely knowledgeable and personable. He was careful to stop in places that you could get out of the sun if desired. With a degree in history, he was able to explain the history of New Orleans and tie it into the culture. Would absolutely recommend!
A must for those looking to learn more of the French District! You will get to see all around and get tips on how to appreciate it better, I always want to see past the facade placed for tourist, and with tours you get a taste of the lived experience.
Easy walking and great tour guide! History and humor we loved it. Andrew was super fun and shared some great places to enjoy after the tour.
We had a walking tour with guide Andrew F, and we enjoyed this tour with lots of interesting history and stories about the past. We met many guides and took all kind of tours in many great places. I think Andrew is one of the best guide because his explanation is perfect.
Excellent tour! Evian is so knowledgeable, yet instead of a dull list of facts, he weaves fun and fascinating stories! We also took Evian's Treme Tour. We feel like we know the city so much better. He even recommended other things to do (the Pharmacy Museum) and things to eat (muffulettas at Napoleon House) and both these recommendations were great.
This tour was very interesting. We enjoyed the history and the background about New Orleans that Daniel provided. It was at a great pace. Our 5yo wasn’t too interested in the history, but that’s ok, we were!
Excellent tour guide who really knew his stuff and answered alll questions authoritatively and easily. Would definitely recommend this tour as you learn so much of the history.
This was a phenomenal French Quarter walking tour. Our guide, Andrew, was very knowledgeable about the history and provided a detailed background about the origins of New Orleans and the French Quarter. This was my 5th trip to NO and I learned things about the history and culture I hadn't before. My teenagers also really enjoyed the tour. I quizzed them afterwards and they actually were listening :-). Well worth the money spent!
The tour was awesome and we learned a ton about the French Quarter. Andrew F was super knowledgeable and shared so much good info.
Tours by Foot offers an engaging and budget-friendly way to explore cities with knowledgeable guides 😍 Andrew was incredible, knowledgeable and personable, shared fascinating local insights, and kept the group entertained throughout. He made our tour through the Garden District very interesting and for sure one of our highlights of our trip 👏👏👏‼️ Highly recommended for travelers seeking an informative, fun, and flexible approach to sightseeing.
Daniel is a wonderful tour guide. He communicated well before the tour through text and email, even providing a name, address, and map of a quick and easy location to grab water and a snack and use the restroom before the tour. He is extremely knowledgeable of New Orleans history and is an engaging and funny storyteller.
Daniel was our tour guide. Super knowledgeable. Since he is a history major, we learned so much about the city, the buildings, the transfer of power. It was great!!! The time passed so fast.
First time in New Orleans for my husband and I and the More than Mardi Gras walking tour of the French Quarter was the first guided visit we did and we absolutely recommend it. Our tour guide Andrew was phenomenal and gave us great historical and cultural insights and great eatery recommandations too!
Very thorough and broad range of knowledge shared by friendly guide who pivoted easily based on interests of group. Would recommend for anyone wanting to scratch the surface
Sandy was amazing! So informative and clever. We leaned so much and really enjoyed ourselves. A brilliant thing to do to get a feeling for New Orleans’ history.
Our guide Daniel was fantastic. He’s a history major so he knew everything about the city. We could have spent all day with him he so interesting and informative. Highly recommend!!
This tour was great! Daniel is a great guide! He is extremely knowledgeable, personable, and helpful. I highly recommend this tour!
My brother and I loved the tour! Daniel was super knowledgeable, very nice, and a great teacher. We learned all about the history of the area and New Orleans. I particularly liked the history about Jean Lafitte and how he ended up working with Andrew Jackson. Daniel really made history come alive! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone.
We booked three tours with Tours by Foot: The French Quarter, Treme and the Garden District. Our guides were Sandy (for the first two) and Daniel (for the latter). We were very impressed with both guides! Both had a great way of giving a broad historical view of these neighborhoods while simultaneously weaving intricate and lesser known stories into their presentations. I have to say quite artfully at that. It was truly engrossing. This made these tours, in my mind, stand out! My husband, baby (!) and I had a great time - and will remember these tours and all we learned for the foreseeable future. I have to admit, my husband doesn't like tours and he ended up thanking me for these! Really great guides! Thanks for a great service. Alexandra Bledsoe
The guide on this tour was exceptional. They provided historical context in a way that drew everything into the present in New Orleans. We felt that the credible information given was entertaining and able to be understood by all in our group, including the children. Their food recommendations were on point. The Presbytere tickets were also helpful as a rainy day activity.
Andrew with an S met us at the Statue of Andrew Jackson in the square. We immediately got the abbreviated history of the colony of Louisiana and New Orleans. From then on the tour was jam-packed with information from 1718 to today. We were pleasantly surprised to get Presbytere tickets. The Mardi Gras exhibit upstairs was a great time for our kids, and we all beat the heat!
We learned so much more than we ever have on our own walking around the Quarter. We had a small group so the guide was able to customize the tour to our interests. She showed us some secret courtyards, and gardens. We were interested in Speakeasy’s and they knew how to get the password. The Presbytere tickets were an added bonus as we were able to teach the kids about hurricanes at the Katrina exhibit.
Excellent morning spent in this historic French Quarter. Our guide also walked us upto the Presbytere which we really enjoyed seeing on our own at the end of the tour. In the evening on the same day we ended up booking the Ghost tour of this neighborhood with the same company, different guide, who was also super entertaining.
The french quarter tour gives a captivating exploration of New Orleans' historic district, rich with fascinating stories and cultural insights. Perfect for history buffs and casual visitors.

Best overview tour of this darling neighborhood which every tourist must see! Our guide Sandy was so so cool, we highly recommend this tour and all other tours this walking tour company provides
So much history, facts, and knowledge from Sarah. We appreciated all the details. The kids kept up and were interested the entire time. Sarah answered all of their questions.
You have to see the French Quarter on foot. I loved going through parts of the neighborhood I wouldn't have explored otherwise and learning the history beyond Bourbon Street. Definitely recommend this tour as a way to learn more about New Orleans.
My family of four loved this tour! The guide was so informative yet made the whole experience conversational and fun. I learned so much. Would definitely recommend!
We went on the Historic French Quarter tour and our guide Sandy was amazing!!! I’ve been to New Orleans a few times and I’ve never learned so much on a tour! She did a great job explaining and entertaining us. 11/10 would recommend!

This Tour offers an informative exploration of New Orleans' historic heart, blending rich cultural anecdotes with lively storytelling. It's a must-do for history buffs and casual tourists alike.
I recently took the French Quarter walking tour with Tours By Foot New Orleans. We previously had toured with this company in DC. The guide, Sandy, in New Orleans was an expert guide. She was hilarious! She stated she had been a tour guide with the company for 8 years and loved her job, it was obvious. I highly recommend this tour as it gives you all of the insights you might otherwise not know. We definitely felt like we got more out of our trip from the knowledge she imparted.
Excellent tour guide. Very informative. Included fascinating details we were not aware of and hisotorical background.
All I knew about French Quarter was Bourbon Street so I am glad I took this tour to learn the real history behind the neighborhood. Our guide, Daniel, really brought the tour alive. It felt like I was hanging out with a friend telling me about his hometown. It was a small group and he really went out of his way to make everyone feel at ease and have a good time. I like the extra special vibe to this tour - from the praline treat to the restaurant recommendations. Thanks, Daniel!
