Itinerary
Your guide will provide a warm introduction to the city and the neighborhood, outlining what is to come during your New Orleans walking food tour.
We will proceed on the culinary adventure, stopping at 6 classic New Orleans style food places that really showcase New Orleans culinary history. Between the food stops, your guide will narrate the quintessential history, culture, and food scene of the gorgeous Vieux Carre (“Old Square”) neighborhood. You will be seated at 4 different restaurants for sit-down food tastings, and 2 tasting will be conducted standing on the sidewalk – hence our company name Sidewalk Food Tours.
Admire the late 18th century Spanish architecture, vibrant colors and elaborately decorated ironwork balconies and galleries, as we savor chargrilled oysters, a classic Nola PoBoy sandwich, cajun and creole cuisine, and more delicious NOLA food staples.
We promise to leave your mind and belly fully satisfied by the end of our NOLA food tour of The French Quarter. Eat, walk, learn, be merry… and repeat!

Brian was a great guide. He is both an author and a lover of history, and we learned a lot about New Orleans and the French Quarter during our time with him. The Sidewalk Food Tours team gave us input into the foods and locations we would visit, and the process for a private tour was flexible on timing as well. It was just the kind of intro to the Quarter that we were seeking. There is one change I would make with a do-over… I would evaluate the food options for both French Quarter and Garden District before making a decision on which tour to book. There could be more variety of options in the Garden tour. While Gumbo and Jambalaya have some significant differences, they are also very similar, and combining them in two hours is kind of heavy on rice, chicken and andouille sausage.
We did a private tour for 6. Not a huge price difference than a group tour but really worth the money. Lisa was our guide, she was great! Great New Orleans historian. Food was good. Walk was easy. Highly recommend!
Great experience, great guide. We really enjoyed the food and learning some history about New Orleans. Brian was a great guide.
This was a great tour! The food was absolutely amazing. I will warn it was small portions but I read other reviews so I was prepared for it which is why my review is still high. Lisa was an absolutely incredible guide. She is extremely knowledgeable on the history of not just the restaurants, but the history of New Orleans as well. There wasn’t a question she didn’t know the answer to. Absolutely amazing experience.
Brian provided a great tour! It was a nice balance of information, walking through the French Quarter, and delicious food. We thought it was going to be small samples but each of the five stops was an ample amount of food. The tour and Brian’s wisdom set us up for a wonderful rest of our stay!
I liked this tour because we actually sat in the restaurant to eat the samples. So many food tours are stand-up affairs. The food was great, especially the streets! Our tour guide Lisa had great stories about New Orleans history and the food we ate.
Lisa was knowledgeable about the food, the city history and great fun to be with! Food choices really showed off the variety of foods in the city.
Lisa was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable of the food and the history of the French Quarter. The restaurant and food selection was wonderful.
Lisa our guide was terrific. She was knowledgeable, engaging, fun, helpful, sincerely fond of her work and being a New Orleanian. Delightful and highly recommend her.

Lisa was knowledgeable about not just the food but the history of New Orleans. She made the tour very enjoyable.
Lisa was an awesome tour guide! She was so knowledgeable about New Orleans history & culture! The 5 locations she took us to were great and the food we got to sample was delicious. It was great to learn more about the city as we walked around.
Our guide was Lisa. She was excellent! Her background in New Orleans history and culture played into the food and walk through the French Quarter. The food choices were wonderful and we experienced things we had not tried before on previous visits to New Orleans. I can't recommend this tour enough to people who want to learn about the area while eating delicious food.
Lisa was a fantastic guide. She is very knowledgeable about NOLA and its history. I understand she gives other tours as well. I highly recommend her!
Just enough story telling to understand the cuisine. Great experience for the price. Walked away full and happy
I just finished a walking food tour and it was absolutely wonderful. Our tour guide Lisa was incredibly knowledgeable, not only about the delicious foods we tried, but also about the history and culture behind each stop. Her enthusiasm and storytelling made the experience so much richer and more memorable. I also really appreciated that this company accommodates vegetarian/pescatarian diets — it was one of the reasons I chose this tour. Highly recommended!
The trip was amazing I loved our guide Lisa she was fantastic! I thought that she was very knowledgeable! I would highly recommend her for any tour!!
Good tour guide. She was local. Enjoyed her commentary on the food and city. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Food was very tasty.
Amazing tour, food and information! It was very interesting to learn everything about the history and food here! I can't recommend this tour enough
Gordon was awesome!!!! He soooo knowledgeable! We loved all our food. He shared so much history about the city and current events! Thank u for a great day!!
Lisa was amazing!! She was well informed, accommodating to allergies, and worked very hard to give us a great experience! She was a great host! She had us try sooo many things for the first time and it was great! 10/10 recommend & we will for sure be returning!!
Lisa was wonderful, knowledgeable, and entertaining. Would recommend taking her tour to anyone visiting the area. The food was amazing.
Lisa was amazing. The food was great. The stories were great. I really enjoyed it. Char grilled oysters at Felix’s were chef’s kiss!!
Loved our guide Lisa. She shared her local knowledge of the history of the city as well as the food we experienced. We would highly recommend this tour!
Five restaurant stops. Small delicious samples at each stop. Guide was knowledgeable of New Orleans, the food there, and their histories. Guide talked a lot and encouraged question. Answered questions thoroughly.
Kaffy was wonderful. Very knowledgeable and made it interesting through out. I would definitely recommend it to my friends.
Lisa did a great job taking us to 5 different restaurants where we got to taste food iconic to the French Quarter. She told us about each food and some history along with some history of the area.
Had a terrific experience with Sidewalk Food Tours! We met Lisa at the starting point, she explained what we would be doing and we started with our 1st restaurant. The food she selected at each restaurant was amazing and she did a very good job of explaining the history of the food. She was also very knowledgeable about the history of the French Quarter and Louisiana in general. It was a very pleasant, relaxed tour. I would recommend this to anyone visiting NOLA.
We had a fantastic French Quarter food tour with Lisa. She was so interesting and informative. Our kids (11-year old boys) wanted to give her 6 stars. We learned a lot about New Orleans and the food and had a great time.
Our guide was late which wasn’t a great start to the tour. One of the servers at our first stop of Felix’s was rather abrasive but eventually warmed up to us once our tour guide showed up and we settled in. The food was good. I wish we got some more formal history about each dish, the cuisine, and the area and what not. According to the tour information I thought we were supposed to be going to five locations and only ended up going to four-I don’t know if it was the weather that shut down the fifth location as we were there right before the snowstorm of the century. We got a king cake in place of the fifth location but it wasn’t super clear as to why we didn’t go to the fifth restaurant. It would have been nice to go to a local bakery for a king cake rather than getting one the guide brought from a grocery store. Overall, I’m glad we did it and got a variety of good food with good portions.
We had a fabulous French Quarter Food Tour today with Gordon. Five excellent stops featuring traditional New Orleans dishes. From chargrilled oysters to red beans and rice, the flavors were exquisite. Along the way, we enjoyed conversations about history and culture that you cannot get from a book. We would do this tour again tomorrow in a heartbeat. Gordon did an outstanding job.
A must do if you want to get a variety of New Orleans cuisine. Lisa was an excellent tour guide as she not only provided info about the food but was a great source for New Orleans history! Happy Eating!
Really enjoyed this Foodie Tour! We had 5 stops at various restaurants and had chargrilled oysters, gumbo, crawfish bread, pralines, and bananas foster beignets. We also had the opportunity to order the perfect handmade hurricane cocktail. It was a beautiful day to walk outside, listen to music on the streets, and see some neighborhood architecture. Our tour guide, Lisa, was the best part - she made the vibrancy of New Orleans come alive as she talked about history of the establishments, food, culture, and the people. She answered any and all questions with wonderful enthusiasm. You can really tell she loves her city! It was also the perfect amount of walking. Sidewalks of New Orleans are full of character, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes.
Lisa was an informative and fun tour guide. She was experienced in giving tours and knowledgeable on the history of New Orleans so she was able to answer questions about more than New Orleans cuisine. The food was delicious. It enough of a sample at each stop to feel like you had a full meal. Don’t eat before your tour. Even our picky eaters enjoyed the food which was all unique to New Orleans.
The tour was fantastic. Lisa was our guide and she convinced me to not go with the vegetarian option (i don’t typically like seafood) and it was a great decision. Another member of my family is gluten- free and her choices of dishes were excellent as well! I stepped out of my comfort zone and was offered foods I never would have ordered. Lisa is very knowledgeable and passionate about her city and it shows. She was great company. The spots themselves were sightly and delicious. Truly a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone!
We had an amazing time. Our guide, Lisa was absolutely wonderful! She was so knowledgeable and helpful. The food was delicious. A definite must do when in NOLA.
The food tour was great I highly recommend this one our guide Kaffey was very knowledgeable about the culture and food. I think this is the best way to go when in New Orleans if you want a taste of the food served in the French Quarter
What a wonderful way to spend a few hours. Kaffey was tremendously kind and knowledgeable for our food tour through the French Quarter, providing cultural context at each stop. The food choices and atmospheres were varied and thoughtful, and it never felt touristy or forced. It was a real highlight of our trip to NOLA.
Lisa was warm and knowledgeable. She gave excellent recommendations and answered a wide range of questions about both food and New Orleans history. The pace of the tour was just right and so was the amount of food. We’d definitely book again with Lisa!
Lisa our guide was excellent! Very knowledgeable about all of the stops. Gave us great advice on other areas to see in the city.
This was our first trip to NOLA and we had no idea what to expect. We went back in March but I'm writing this review now because a friend of mine is going and asked for recommendations. I remembered how we had a great time on this tour with Lisa! She truly has a passion for this city and food and history. We learned about the local culture and what are the best things to try while in NOLA. All of the foods we tried were fantastic, we even went back to a few places. 10/10
This was an amazing time. Great food and wonderful tour of the city. Loved the experience and would be happy to do it again. Thank you!
Kaffey was an awesome guide that was able to accommodate our dietary restrictions while showing us authentic local food.
Kaffey was a great host, she brought a tote bag with ‘the trinity’ and starting from there shared with us so much details around creole and cajun food, things to know about the French Quarter! We had chargrilled oysters, muffuletta, praline, gumbo and banana foster beignet (last one was my favorite!), had a great conversation about culture and different experience of the guests joining the group. I really enjoyed trying out best food that french quarter has to offer and enjoyed meeting new people! Thank you Kaffey for hosting us!
Loved every minute! Choose your adventures wisely. Many of the tours are the same with different names. A must tour is haunted history bus tour! Make sure you get Drew for a guide! The adults only wicked history walking tour is a must. Ask for Yah Yah! Head to Morning Call for your beignets! The Audobon Aquarium is beautiful! And a ride on the steamboat paddle wheel "Natchez" is a wonderful way to see the city via the Mississippi! Most importantly, take a Honey Island Swamp tour with Captain Hunter!
We had such a great time our tour guide. Lisa was amazing. Very knowledgeable about the city in every restaurant. We went to 10 out of 10 we must try again.
Really enjoyed the pace, the portions of the sample foods were fulfilling, Lisa was very knowledgeable and willing to answer any of our questions.
Brian was a great tour guide, very personable and informative. Our tour was on a Monday which meant that some dining establishments were closed, so instead of going to six places, we were only able to go to four. Our meeting place and first stop was Felix's Restaurant & Oyster Bar where we had char-grilled oysters. I've never had oysters and I'm not a big seafood fan but I'm always up for trying something new and they were DELICIOUS; cooked with butter, parmesan cheese, and breadcrumbs, and very tender. Our second stop was Royal House Oyster Bar where we had chicken and andouille gumbo and crawfish toast, both were very good. A quick stop at Leah's Pralines for a praline (and I probably bought a little too much to take home with me) and the final stop at New Orleans Creole cookery where we had jambalaya and a drink (drinks were self-purchased). Even with only stopping at four restaurants, we didn't leave hungry. I would recommend this tour for anyone wanting to sample some of NOLA's traditional dishes.
Food choices were all amazing and different than I have had in New Orleans previously. Guide included a history lesson that was charming, also
