Guy was a fantastic, knowledgeable, and personable guide. We got the history, and more importantly, the stories of the neighborhood. A wonderful 2 hours well-spent— would 100% do another tour!

Guy was fantastic! He was charismatic and knowledgeable!
TIn late February 2026 I took a architectural/cultural walking tour of the Marigny district of New Orleans and I loved it! Everyone has heard of the French Quarter and the Garden District but the Marigny district is just a lovely and fascinating. Our guide was a smart, friendly, wonderfully prepared man named Guy and he gave us the best tour! He has a long history in the area so he knew its history and development so well. He gave personal recommendations for a bakery, restaurants, and bars...so valuable when you are trying to see the "real" New Orleans. If you want to immerse yourself in the history and many layers of this city, take a walking tour with NOLA tours. I was in the city for 4 days and I took two of their tours and wanted to do even more! Enjoy!
Went on the tour of the Marigny on Friday then had to sign up for the Garden District on Monday. Both tours had fantastic guides who are so clearly passionate about their city and the history that has shaped it.
Interesting tour covering both architecture and history. Guy was very knowledgeable and engaging. We enjoyed it and learned a lot.
This was the second walking tour that we took with this company and we loved it. Guy was our guide for 2+ hours. He was very helpful and so knowledgeable about the Creole architecture of the Marigny. He also proved an excellent historical overview of that area along with the history of New Orleans. Would definitely recommend this company and their tours.
Our guide, Guy, was amazing! His knowledge and familiarity with the Marigny made for an excellent experience. So lovely to hear historical accounts from someone who truly loves the area and is a resident there. You will see spectacular sites, and hear enthralling stories. Highly recommend!
We really enjoyed our tour. Guy was simultaneously engaging, accommodating, knowledgeable, and professional. More than an architecture tour, it was also culturally and historically informative. Highly recommend.
Guy and Doug were outstanding guides for my group of about 25 friends in mid-November. We got lucky with fantastic weather, but their combined insights and natural storytelling talents are what made it really memorable. Highly recommend their tours.
Guy was a wonderful tour guild and we appreciated the sincerity with which he explained the cultural history and context surrounding the buildings we were viewing. If we come back to NOLA we will absolutely book one of their other tours. This was our favorite activity of the trip.
Very interesting, informative, and fun. Our guide, Guy, was very engaging and knowledgeable. I’ve been to New Orleans many times, but learned more in this 2 hour tour than I did from all my other visits combined.
What a great tour. So much information packed into two hours. Guy, our guide, not only knew his stuff, he lives in the neighborhood and that added a unique perspective missing from many tours. It was so good that I’d take the tour same tour a second time! You will walk away with a deep appreciation for the Margy, its people, and history.
Fantastic and informative tour. Guy was an excellent guide. The tour was comprehensive and filled with interesting stops and information about Marigny.
Great commentary! Friendly guide! Fun history and detailed stories ! Featured uncrowded locations ! I cannot say any more right now 😀!
Amazing tour! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable. The tour married a big picture history of the city and neighbourhood, Creole culture, race relations, and of course, architecture. We got a nice break along the way at a cafe and had opportunities to sit and be in the shade.
We had so much fun on our Marigny walking tour with Guy. He knew so much about the area, told us about a ton of interesting history, and focused a lot on the shotgun shacks and creole cottages we were most excited about. He told us fascinating stories of the black and queer communities too. He also built in a bathroom/snack/coffee break halfway through which was so nice. Highly recommend!
We enjoyed a delightful, informative and fun 2 hour tour of Marigny in NOLA. Lee, our guide was the best, very knowledgeable, personable. Highly recommend Lee and this tour. ...........patrick arnone
Fantastic tour by Guy, who is very knowledgeable, has a great personality and also lives in the Marigny area so has first hand experience. Lots of stories and anecdotes which made the whole experience very engaging. My children and I learned so much during the 2 hours tour. We highly recommend NOLA tours.
Kelsey was a great tour guide with a ton of information! She also gave us a bakery recommendation for lunch that was fantastic!
This was an excellent tour and we learned many interesting details of the area's history as well as the architecture. Our guide was pleasant and knowledgable. We don't often do this kind of tour and it was a worthwhile and rewarding use of our limited time in New Orleans.
Kelsey’s knowledge was very impressive. Her amiability and overall personality made our tour extremely enjoyable. Thank you again Kelsey.
This was a wonderful tour that mixed the unique architecture of New Orleans with its even more unique history. Guy was our guide and we cannot express how much we enjoyed his tour. Guy’s knowledge was encyclopedic as he made us think and laugh.
My daughter just moved to Marigny and we wanted to learn more about this special area of NOLA. Guy was our tour guide. He had a great blend of knowledge of history, architecture, and a deep passion for the neighborhood. He gave a frank discussion of the past and current culture in Marigny and told stories not usually mentioned. We love history and he was pleasant and patient with our many questions. Fabulous tour and highly recommended!
We went on the Marigny architecture tour with Guy and had a great experience. He was an excellent guide with deep knowledge of the city, we learned a lot, and it made our time in New Orleans that much richer.
Thank you once again Guy for a wonderful architectural walking experience!!! The beautiful streets of brightly colored shot-gun homes was not to be missed!! I very much appreciated knowing that the Marigny neighborhood with its mix of retail and residential was likely the first fully diversified and walkable neighborhoods in terms of the people who made it their homes and the businesses established there. Yet another not-to-be-missed tour!
Guy, our tour guide, was amazing. We did the architecture tour of the Marigny neighborhood with him and loved it. He was extremely knowledgeable and a great storyteller. Would highly recommend this tour and Guy!
Karen was awesome. She was very knowledgeable of all different architecture styles and periods. She provided visual aids and other info throughout the tour
This was the best walking tour! It was part history lesson, part architecture tutorial and 100% engaging. Our guide, Guy, has lived in the area for many year. He added personal anecdotes and local color to the already fascinating history of New Orleans, and particularly the Marigny area. He had visual aids that helped us understand the geography, social migration and architecture of the region. And he had a very relaxed and engaging style. You can tell he really understands and loves his city. One of the best walking tours I’ve ever taken, of any city. I highly recommend for tourists and residents alike.
The architecture tour of the Marigny was fantastic. I really enjoyed exploring the Marigny which is an area I had not been to previously. Karen was our guide and she was a wealth of knowledge and the morning flew by. For a tour that is a little off the beaten track, this is highly recommended!
Guy was very knowledgeable and well informed about the architecture and history of the area. My family and I are from Louisiana but just decided to take an educational tour of New Orleans Marigny area. We were so pleasantly surprised about the wealth of information we got from Guy, and the gorgeous neighborhoods we saw. It was like a personal walking-history tour of New Orleans, 3-D. We were in the middle of the history. I will never see New Orleans the same ever again. It feels more fleshed-out and real now. It was well worth the money and the time. We will send other relatives and friends on this history-tour. Thank you Guy!!! Excellent!!
Karen did a fantastic job guiding us through the Marigny. She is passionate, knowledgeable, friendly and funny. Since we were there in June, the 10am start time is perfect. We were able to take a little break at a great cafe and found shade most of the time while we walked. She even had fans for us which were greatly appreciated. We left the tour able to identify not only the different types of houses that make up this neighborhood, but also the architectural features found in much of New Orleans' historical buildings. Karen also gave us recommendations for restaurants and nightlife based on where we were staying. I'd love the chance to join in for more of her tours.
Wonderful tour with Guy. I learned so much about Marigny neighborhood history and have a much better understanding of New Orleans history and architecture as a whole. I've already been sharing facts with my friends. Guy was very knowledgeable and well spoken. Highly recommend!
Guy is an outstanding guide, knowledgeable of architecture yes, but also of the history and culture of all things Marigny and Creole.
Guy brings incredible knowledge and love of the Marigny neighborhood. He lives there. This tour is not to be missed, because this is a fascinating area with a rich history and incredible architecture which Guy delineates expertly. Thank you.
My husband and I took this tour with Guy and LOVED it! He is incredibly knowledgeable about the area (he is a resident), the history, the politics, and the architecture. There was literally not a single question he was unable to answer. Guy truly has a love for his neighborhood and it shows! The tour peaked my interest so much I bought a few books after the tour. Well worth it.
Guy was very knowledgeable and gave great advice of other activities to do while we were visiting. Highly recommend. Fun way to explore the Marigny.
Our tour guide, Guy, was very knowledgeable and interesting. We learned a lot and saw some beautiful houses. We recommend this tour to anyone interested in New Orleans.
Personalized tour, small group, lots of focus on detail and historical context to understand the architectural influences. GUY was excellent, wealth of knowledge and culturally sensitive to the contributions made by different groups, especially the free people of color!!! Walking the neighborhood made such a difference... able to stop talk, discuss, ask questions and take pictures. Neighborhood steeped in history of all kinds! Would definitely do another tour!!! GUY was wonderful!!
I visited New Orleans with friends for almost a week, and this tour was my favorite activity. Our tour guide, Guy, was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and entertaining, and took our small group of 6 around the Marigny neighborhood for nearly two-and-a-half hours (10 minute history explanation if you come early, and he optionally takes you for a bit after the official end). I appreciated the smaller group size as Guy explained the history and stories of some of New Orleans through the lens of architecture. Not only was the established tour fantastic, Guy also thoroughly answered every question asked and sometimes added more tidbits and stories based on the questions. I liked that we weren't ever standing in one place for too long and got to see many small pieces of the culture and history of the city. Plus, it's more comfortable to have some walking. I think that having this tour earlier on in our trip also made the rest of the trip and walking between locations more fun—it meant that we could point out and recognize examples of the architecture styles and structures that we got to see on the tour. Great experience, would absolutely fit this into your itinerary if you can, particularly if the weather is good.
We had such a great time on this walking tour. Our guide was so knowledgeable and very friendly. It’s a beautiful neighborhood with so much history. The tour included architecture but also so much of the history that helped shape the styles of the times.
Wow! Our tour of the Marigny neighborhood with Karen was fantastic! There is so much history, culture, and architecture just outside of the French Quarter. Karen brought illustrations of various architectural styles on her iPad and discussed each one while we were able to enjoy a beautiful park setting. She then gave us a postcard of the illustrations and off we went. I’ve never looked at the amazing details of the homes before. Karen made the people and culture of the neighborhood come alive. The story of Mr. Marigny is quite intriguing by itself. Do yourself a favor and step outside the French Quarter for a tour of an amazing neighborhood. You’ll learn so much and in a pleasurable and enjoyable manner. 10/10 Thanks Karen!
This is my second walking tour of the Marigny with tour guide GUY and it was absolutely fabulous. He offers a rich foundation of NOLA history-- the turmoil and the triumph. The architecture comes to life through his stories and knowledge of the city.
This was the best architecture tour I've ever taken. Our guide, Guy, was outstanding. He did so much more than discuss architectural styles and building details. Guy wove together a wonderful story of people and place that left me wanting to return to New Orleans for an extended stay. What a fascinating city!
The Marigny neighborhood is loaded with history and appealing, diverse architecture. Guy our tour guide is hugely knowledgeable and exceptionally congenial. The Tour allows for an intimate experience, which proved to be the perfect complement to an otherwise whirlwind trip through New Orleans!
Guy was our guide and he was wonderful. We learned so much about the history, architecture, and culture of this unique neighborhood. He’s an engaging speaker and brought pictures and maps to put it all into context. In just a couple of hours we learned to notice details previously invisible to us. Guy’s tour of the Marigny was a definitely a highlight of our trip to New Orleans.
We had the privilege to have Guy as our tour guide and he was fantastic. Not only did we learn a great deal of local architecture but also the history and importance of what makes this neighborhood so special and unique. If you appreciate historical homes and have 2 hours to spare in New Orleans, bring some comfortable walking shoes and request Guy!
An expert and delightful tour! The Marigny is so full of funk, ambience and character and having a guide to show it all was perfect. Thanks, Guy! I hope you bring out the tours for Treme and beyond.
If you want a deeper dive into Nola history and architecture, take the Marigny tour with Guy! Fabulous exploration of this diverse melting pot neighborhood and its unique homes.
I am very happy to have chosen this tour. The guide -Guy- was very friendly, with great pleasure he shared his passion for architecture and also for New Orleans. The visit went by too quickly.
