Sunset Whale Watching In San Jose Del Cabo

Truly amazing! It was my second Salty Cabo trip and as wonderful and awe inspiring as the first! GO!!! The whales are so awesome as are the guides! Louisa is fun, knowledgeable, and LOVES the ocean and whales!!!!

AMAZING experience. Our guides were very knowledgeable and friendly and made the trip and viewing so much fun. We saw some breathtaking, beautiful whales. Babies and Mamas swimming and breaching in the sunset. I would recommend this experience to everyone! 🐋 🐳 🐋

Smaller boat, around 25 feet open but high sides. If you are not comfortable with boats, it might be a bit rough at times. Tour guides were awesome! And yes, we saw whales close up and were supplied with free pictures after, just in case you missed ‘that’ shot.

Salty Cabo was absolutely fantastic. We will definitely come back and do it again. Saw lots of whales and our guide was friendly as can be and extremely knowledgeable.

We had a most amazing whale watching trip with a team of professional and experienced guides. We had a great welcome at their offices and as soon as we left the marina we were looking for whales. We saw sealions as we set off and quite soon were with 3 humpback whales - a mother, her 2-3 week old calf and an escort. We spent the trip watching these 3 magnificent creatures, as they travelled to their evening resting spot. Incredible sights of breaches, tail flukes, the calf playing, with mum and escort protecting the calf. And wonderful knowledge from Louisa on all aspects of whale life. Finally, as we sailed back in, with a glass of wine and a beer, a magnificent and unbelievable sunset that glowed across the whole sky. An experience of a lifetime. Many thanks Salty Cabo

This was amazing! Luisa (our guide) and Jonathan (the captain) knew just where to take us to see the whales arriving from Alaska. We kept a safe distance from the whales, but they are curious and swam right up to and under the boat. They put on a spectacular show, and I was thrilled to observe these incredible marine mammals so close. I am glad I went at sunset because it made the experience all the more magical and serene. Highly recommend!

Our guide was very knowledgeable and although at the end of the season for the whales we were able to spot several beaches and a few tails in the distance. Unfortunately none real close however we enjoyed our whale watching efforts. Our guide allowed us to listen to the songs of the hump back whales since none were singing at the moment. I appreciated the attempt. Thank you.

We had an amazing experience! Luisa was an excellent guide. We were there at the end of the season and very lucky to see a mother and her calf. The calf was very curious and they swam around us for 30-45 minutes. Luisa spotted the whales and directed our attention to their every move - it was magical. Truly a once in a lifetime experience. Things to know: you will get wet and salty! It gets cold once the sun is setting. It definitely gets bumpy on the water, so take precautions if you get motion sickness (my scopolamine patch worked like magic).

Incredible experience! Saw grey whales and humpback whales. One large male humpback parked under our boat and treated us to a song before swimming off into the sunset. It was really special. We also saw leaping rays, a mako shark and a sea turtle. This area is teaming with sea life and the Salty Cabo guides do an excellent job of showing it off and teaching you all about it. We highly recommend this outfitter and trip!

Amazing! Paola was a knowledgeable guide and took great care of us. We saw up close several gray whales and a mother and baby humpback whale. There are a lot of whales around Cabo right now. Great experience.

Everyone goes on sunset cruises on the Cabo side, we really wanted to see Los Cabos from another vantage point and we found Salty Cabo. We got a sunset AND a whale watching tour in one! Captain Roland and first officer Paola gave us a wonderful tour, being very informative while giving the whales their space as they same all around us. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend this tour!

Fantastic trip! Paula, our guide, was so fun and knowledgeable and our group really enjoyed finding the whales together. The captain and Paula were very conscientious about protecting the whales which we really appreciated, but we still got to see so many whales up close! Fun vibe. Appreciated drinks and snacks!

The trip was amazing! We saw mother and baby whales, dolphins, and rays. Karla Paola was an excellent guide, and Captain Chato did a great job of maneuvering the boat to give us the best view possible. I have recommended Salty Cabo to all of my friends.

This was an amazing tour! So exciting to see the whales up close. The captain was very skilled in getting us to the whales and was persistent in finding them. The tour guide gave us great information and was really nice. I also loved the hydrophone. It's one thing to see and hear the whales on TV, it's a whole other experience to see and hear in person! Definitely a must do! And they had blankets on board as it gets a little chilly after sunset in January. Thank you!!

Ruben and Paola were wonderful tour guides. They are very knowledgeable and we had a fun time on the tour with them. My wife and I had a great time whale watching. We saw many whales and even some babies. We highly recommend the sunset tour and if possible going with Paola and Ruben!

This was the highlight of my visit to SJC. Saw incredible whales and loved it so much I came back the next day for another tour. Small group of 8 the first night sunset cruise and 5 the next morning. Very few boats around and quite vibe contrary to any water tour you’re taking from San Lucas. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. On the second day the captain did An amazing job navigating to breaching whales playing. What an amazing finale. Professional free photos are a plus.

We had a wonderful evening with our excursion crew, including Cappy the whale spotting dog! Although late in the season, we saw 2 juvenile whales several times and a stingray. Sophie was full of great information about the whales and their habits. Our excursion ended with a gorgeous sunset and the moon rising over the water. I would highly recommend this team of professional and friendly people.

We had an amazing time on our trip! We lucked out and were the only two on "Captain Hollywood's" boat. Our guide was great. She was exited and knowledgeable. We saw a school of dolphins that jumped and played around us for about 30 minutes!

The management was excellent. There was a disturbance in traffic so most of the clients were late they held up the tour so we were able to still go and it was a really no problem attitude.

Unexpectedly great evening! Our guide, Sophia, was an oceanographer with a great deal of knowledge about whales and the waters around Baja. We were lucky enough to see and follow several groups of mom/baby whales. She taught us about whale behaviors as we watched, and her joy about them was infectious. The weather and seas also cooperated and it was a wonderful evening.

Best whale watching experience I’ve ever had. Paula, the marine biologist guide, was absolutely wonderful. She was knowledgeable and passionate about the whales and made the experience perfect. We saw many humpback whales, and Eduardo the captain helped get us get so close but without disturbing them. I highly recommend this tour

This was truly an exceptional experience! My wife and I are frequent travelers to Los Cabos. We often stay in San Jose del Cabo and drive down to Cabo San Lucas when we have the desire to participate in boat activities and have been on a number of small and large boat trips from Cabo San Lucas in the past. This time we were fortunate to find Salty Cabo Excursions online and we are so happy that we did. Salty Cabo Excursions is located in the marina at San Jose del Cabo which is much closer to our resort than the boats in Cabo San Lucas. Online booking was effortless and the owner, Roland, provided us with detailed directions and arrival instructions before the trip. Upon arrival we were met by Roland and his staff who were all very welcoming and accommodating. While we waited for the other tour participants to arrive, Roland made sure we were comfortable. We participated in the sunset whale watching tour with Sofia who is a very caring and passionate oceanographer. She was incredible. Her love for her job and for the marine life is clearly evident. She and the captain stressed safety at all times. Sofia provided such wonderful detailed information on the whales that we encountered and the environment that surrounded us in the Sea of Cortez. Unlike the crowded boats and waters of Cabo San Lucas, we found ourselves alone on the waters with no other boats in sight for most of the trip. This allows for a much more enjoyable experience. It was so peaceful as we watched mother whales and their calves frolic about. Sofia also lowered a hydrophone into the water so we could hear the whales ‘sing’ to each other. If you wish to get a relaxed, up close, whale watching experience then this is the one to choose. We would take this trip again without hesitation. In fact, we will next year when we return to Cabo.

WOW - what a perfect night and great sunset whale watching cruise with Paula and captain Paco. We have been on many whale watching tours in Hawaii and Cabo and this is one of the best. Paula was so knowledgeable and genuine. Her excitement and love for the whales was wonderful to be around. We saw so many whales. The boat was comfortable. We loved that it was close to our hotel in San José del Cabo and we did not have to drive nearly a hour into town where the main marina is. This was small and intimate and did not feel like 5 boats in one location crowding the whales. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. We stayed at Zadun and it was less than 10 minutes away from hotel. THANKS SALTY CABO!

An amazing experience with very knowledgeable guide and boat captain! Second time out and would highly recommend!!! Whales so close that the baby just about went under our boat!

We loved our Salty Cabo sunset whale watching trip. Paula was a wonderful knowledgeable guide and we saw many whales. Everything was great, easy and fun. The hydrophone to hear the whales underwater was way cool.

Three generations of family including a 17 month old had such a great trip, tour guide Paula was super friendly and knowledgeable and kept the food and beverages flowing. The captain Chato, was very considerate and tried to position the boat for the best pictures. While we only saw a few whales in the distance, the sunset more than made up for it. It was one of the best I’ve ever seen. After doing an arch tour in Cabo with another company, it was so relaxing to be the only boat out there. I highly recommend Salty Cabo Excursions.

This was an amazing trip. So worth it! Sophie educated us and Chatta was a steady Captain. We saw so many whales and learned so much. Great company. I will bring the rest of my family back for this!
