We had a great time and Francisco walked us through the market for some shopping and educated us on how to pick out fruits and vegetables that we would be cooking with. We picked up some fresh masa before going back to his kitchen. We tasted some delicious tequila in the shop downstairs before making mole and drinking tasty hibiscus margaritas. All in all a very fun day.

Just to meet in the main courtyard by the market. Francisco was amazing. The shopping was informative and the food was fantastic!
It was an excellent experience! We went to the market and got fresh ingredients. Then we made guacamole, salsa tortillas, Seabass, tacos, and shrimp tacos. The instructor is very personable and knowledgeable. You can tell he loves to cook! I highly recommend this experience!
Delightful experience. Educational tour through the local market followed by detailed cooking class and a delicious meal! Chef was fabulous!
Four of us went. Sisters and brother in laws. We have been to cooking schools in several countries around Europe, Asia. and Mexico This was the best. We cannot rate it too highly. We learnt a lot but the fun factor was off the scale. Graham
We had an amazing time with Francisco and Luz! Amazing food! Joyful people!
This was our second time partaking in the cooking class! Loved it so much last year we had to do it again !!
Felt like a family cooking time. We went to market for produce and cheese. then to Mazza factory to get our mazza for the tortillas. we made everything by hand from scratch..in a homey commercial kitchen to make all the components and assemble our tamales. A couple margaritas and great tamales Super fun day!!
A truly unforgettable experience. Jorge is a professionally trained chef whose mastery of simple ingredients proved less is more. After a short produce shopping excursion..we were welcomed into his professional at-home kitchen and started with making authentic margaritas which were sublime. What followed was a curated menu and instruction leading our group through the origins of Mexican cooking and how simple ingredients done right elevate flavors. For foodies this is a must.
Such a great experience!! Chef Francisco was knowledgeable and so fun! We learned a lot and the food was great.
This was an amazing adventure. We began in the local market choosing our fresh ingredients for cooking. We stopped by the tortilla factory and sampled fresh corn tortillas before heading to create great food!
This class was wonderful. We loved learning about picking out the produce we needed to make mole. My mom and I were the only ones in the class even though we signed up for the group class. Others just did not sign up for the day we chose. Plan to be busy for many hours. We were shopping and cooking for 4 hours but it was completely worth our time.
We had the absolute best time at our cooking lesson today! Francisco was a fantastic host—not only did we get to make amazing, delicious food, but we also learned so much about the local culture and agriculture here in Cabo. It was such a fun, immersive, and educational experience. If you’re looking for a unique and memorable activity, we highly recommend booking this!
Such a fun experience. Shopped the local market, and chose produce. Lots of great fresh food to make and eat. Learned recipes and techniques for cooking. Funny host. My boys don’t love the hot sun so enjoyed something to do indoors.
We really had fun doing the cooking class! From Market tour which I love since their business also support local people, we get to try a fresh tortilla which is really good! Francisco was so nice and very funny, we felt comfortable, we made really really delicious Tamales and Margaritas! We get to keep the recipe too! I can't wait to go back home and make it myself! I would book them again next time we come back!
It was highly enjoyable! I have been cooking for 40 years and I learned so much about picking fresh produce and process spices and peppers to get the maximum flavor. Chef Francisco was wonderful. I highly recommend this tour.
This is a must do if you’re in SDC! So professional, fun, delicious, educational, memory maker! Francisco is a class act! From the moment you meet him until the last sip of your margarita you will not be disappointed!
A great experience from start to finish! Francisco has a fun personality and sense of humor. He taught us alot about vegetables, meats and multitudes of chilis at the market. His restaurant is small but perfect for up close and hands on learning. Margaritas were sooo delicious, and now we can make them at home. We chopped, mashed, sliced, roasted and learned to make tortillas and guacamole from scratch. The main course was cooked to perfection. There is a small A/C unit but kitchen is hot, so I recommend dressing lightly and bring a hand held fan. Well worth it, and we would do it again!
This is full-on 5 hours, starting at the market, selecting vegetables and fruit, with tips on what makes a good choice, meat, ingredients for the rest of ouor meal. Then it was on to a tortilleria to buy some tortillas, and then to our primary location, which is upstairs from from a tequila shop. Our chef was with us the whole way, from start to finish and was hands on for us paticipants, there were 5 of us today. We started out learning how to make a perfect margarita, then moved on to our meal. Everyone had tasks at all stages and the finished product was wonderful: chicken mole, (which was so tender it melted in your mouth) and pork & pineapple pastor. All along we got to nibble on tortilla chips with salsa and guacamole (both of which we had made) and chicharones. As the class started before lunchtime, I recommend you come with a bit of an appetite so you can enjoy the snacks but be prepared to eat much more. Margaritas were freely refillable if you wanted more than one. I was so full of good food by 4pm that I cancelled later dinner reservations! Highly recommend this class.
We loved our afternoon with chef Francisco! He is funny, knowledgeable and a fantastic chef. We started in the market, met the local merchants & purchased our ingredients, then off to his professional kitchen to laugh, learn, cook & eat delicious food. Great day!
This experience delivered more than expected. We met Francisco at the local market and he taught us a lot about how the locals shop and how to identify the best goods in the market. We bought all the food and he let us choose the menu. We chose Quesa Birilla tacos. After that, we went to a tortillaria where the staff was grinding hominy for the most authentic and organic MASA. From there, we went to Francisco’s restaurant and made some delicious margaritas while also chopping up the vegetables and cooking them for the dish. Chef had us press and cook the freshest corn tortillas. All the salsa, guacamole, beans, and tacos were delicious. We also had a tequila tasting downstairs as a bonus experience.
We had a wonderful afternoon with Fernando. He was very patient and relaxed, and we learned so much. We made at least five dishes, including the best mole any of us had ever had. The class is about five hours long -- good idea to eat a solid breakfast before you arrive. Highly recommended!
Although it was a long day we accomplished so much. You start in the Local Market. You stop at the various stands to get all the supplies to cook, then you go to the tortilla factory to see how fresh tortillas are made and get the ingredients to do it in class. We had a tequila tasting which was fun. But then the real fun started upstairs. We made a margarita and then were no holds on how many you drank. Maybe not the best idea as they were strong delicious but I had problems concentrating after just one of those dynamite margs. The instructor and staff were so much fun. The others in the class we met were such a blast and made the day enjoyable. The food was excellent and we were STUFFED after. For a Canadian the price is quite high but the enjoyment we got out of the day was incredible. I highly recommend.
The food was delicious. We finished cooking and ate around 3pm so have breakfast before you get there. We learned several tips about food and drink. Francisco was very attentive to everyone.
Francisco was awesome. The day we were there we made tamales. We two of our grandchildren with us and he kept them included the whole time.
What a fantastic experience! Karina, our host, was amazing, full of energy, and knowledgeable. We prepared salsa, guacamole, tortillas, 3 different tequila drinks and danced! Fun interactive, and delicious! Definitely recommend again and again.
Francisco was such a great host / chef. He is personable, informative, and welcoming. And, the food we made was delicious!
This was my first cooking class while on vacation and after this amazing experience I’ll be doing a class every time I travel from now on! Our guide/chef Francisco was fantastic at explaining all the steps of cooking and making sure the whole class was included in the process. At the start of the experience we did a market tour to get all the ingredients to cook our chicken tacos, Pico de gallo, salsa verde, guacamole and mole. Through the market Francisco explained how to tell all the vegetables were ripe and answered all our questions along the way! Excuse my poor photography skills but I’ve added a few photos of our finished tacos and mole sauce. All the food was delicious and catered to the groups spice tolerance. I could not recommend this enough if you enjoy cooking and trying local food.
This tour was a mixed bag for me — and I don’t recommend it unless you drink margaritas, as there is a lot of “dead time” (which the drinkers in the group didn’t seem to mind). We spent one hour in the market and 20 minutes in traffic to get to a Tortilleria and see their equipment. Class should start at Juan More Tacos with groceries pre-purchased — a 5+ hour day is too long! My “good” rating is based on the meal we ultimately ate (chicken mole) and Francisco’s knowledge and sense of humor. There should be discount for participants who don’t drink and/or other beverage options.
Chef Francisco took us to the local market to start with. We were able to try some of the different fruits and vegetables as we toured and he purchased ingredients for our meal. We learned to make our own tortillas as well as ceviche, salsa, fish tacos, guacamole, and hibiscus margaritas. We had a lot of fun and everything was so delicious!
Thoroughly enjoyed the expertise, caring, attention, and humor of Ricardo. We've taken other cooking classes in Cabo, but we learned the most from this one. We shopped together for fresh food from the market and tortillaria, and then went back to his commercial kitchen and got to work. We made guacamole, green Chile salsa, Mexican salsa, fish tacos, tortillas, shrimp appetizers, and tuna seviche. One in our group (me) was not much of a fish eater, but this was so fresh and tasty! We'll be hosting a party back home to put what we learned into practice! Ricardo and his staff (Pablo and Angel) took very good care of us, from the food to a delicious lime hibiscus margarita. Good caring genuine people. Well done!
Great experience! We started at a market learning facts about the food we would later be using in our dish. Then made our way to the restaurant to prepare a traditional Mexican soup. Our time was spent chopping vegetables and grinding spices while enjoying a delicious margarita made from hibiscus flower. Our host was very professional yet so personal to the entire group. Would highly recommend this activity. We have done many different types of activities in our travels, and this was a definite favorite.
Fransisco made sure we had a great experience, from choosing the best products from the local market to getting us involved with the cooking process (mole). He carefully explained each step and made sure we were all engaged. A fun side trip to the tortilleria was very interesting. The final products of the day were delicious. Highly recommend this tour. A great way to spend a day in San Jose.
Tamales were AMAZING! The whole experience was so fun. Literally, I may not eat for a couple of days! Thanks Francisco! Plan on a longer timeframe than what is posted, but the time goes fast. Chef was very good at explaining all the steps involved. He takes you shopping for the ingredients that you will use to cook with. Then you go to the tortilla to get fresh tortillas and see how masa is made. A very good experience and well worth the time!
We had previously done two taco tours with this company and thought it was time to roll up our sleeves and learn how to cook a few dishes. We especially enjoyed the trip to the market where we learned how to choose the right produce. It was a nice small group where there were lots of opportunities to participate in making the meal. We made guacamole, salsa, verde, and chicken enchiladas with mole sauce. It was an amazing meal. I would highly recommend this experience!
It’s way better than the marketing description. Learned a lot about local markets, produce, cooking , mixing specialty drinks, and more. Great teaching, really fun participants, wonderful food. It’s long; 11am-4pm so prepare.
Francisco spent some time in the market with us teaching us about the different Mexican ingredients for the Mole that we made and took us to a traditional tortilla making shop to get fresh masa that we could make into our own tortillas. Everything was delicious!
We consider ourselves adventurous cooks and so when we saw this opportunity we knew we had to take a lesson from an expert. It was fantastic. We met up at a local market where we learned about the ingredients and how to choose them. After a quick stop to get tortillas and masa (complete with tasting a hot off the grill tortilla) we went to the restaurant to cook. We were hands on in preparing the tamales and salsa. The food was fantastic, even with our help 😆. We would do it again, learn more, and eat more amazing food. We highly recommend to anyone who likes food.
So much fun! We enjoyed walking through the markets, watching the tortillas being made. We learned, cooked and laughed with Francisco!
Excellent day seeing the real El Cenro neighborhood in San Jose Del Cabo. Francisco was an awesome host, shopping companion, and chef. Guests are allowed to be as active as you choose. Very knowledgeable re: local fresh food. Francisco ( Cooking San Jose) and his partners with "Juan more..." are fine tuning an excellent offering. Mole' is complicated. Some guests may prefer simpler dishes. Check out the days menu in advance.
So delicious and very fun! I was trying to book a cooking lesson at more well known farm to table places but got frustrated with extra fees and limited menu. Now, I am so glad I did more research and came up Chef Francisco and his market tour and cooking class in the heart of San Jose del Cabo. We met at a market and shopped for what we needed for our class. He was careful to ask about any food allergies or other issues We also went to a local shop that prepared dough which we took back to Francisco’s kitchen to make fresh tortillas. This experience lasted over 3 hours and we probably could have stayed longer. Once at the kitchen we had the option to make amazing fresh margaritas ( learned the history of the drink too). Then onto fresh salsa, guacamole , shrimp, fish tacos, tortillas, and ceviche. Peeling, chopping, pressing and cooking was done with great direction by Chef Francisco. Each day of the week is a different food choice. Saturday is currently seafood. So great that he keeps the class pretty small. We were in a group of 7. Also appreciated that we were not asked to buy anything extra. We focused on making and eating delicious local foods. A wonderful local authentic experience with a really nice and professional chef.
I learned so much! Juan was knowledgeable and educational at the market where we learned a lot about how to pick the best produce and we actually did hands on cooking that was fun. Everything came out delicious!
Amazing experience. Chef Francisco gave us all tasks to Chop and dice the food as well as the margaritas were to die for.We all learned different notifications at the market.
Francisco was wonderful as a guide and teacher. The whole experience from shopping at the market to making the food and drinks was fun and delicious. He even shared his collection of recipes with us to try when we return home. We would definitely recommend this activity.
Francisco was incredible from start to finish. Absolutely loved learning about the Mexican culture and he really took time to explain the ingredients and how to shop for them. He was so incredibly kind to my girls (ages 9 and 11). The food, location and everything was so, so perfect. Thank you for making our vacation special.
When you book this cooking experience check for the dishes you’d like to learn to make as they have different ones on different days. We picked Monday and learned how to make tamales, so easy and good. The stop at the market to learn how and why you pick different vegetables was good to know. This is a very informative tour.
Excellent experience from beginning to end. This was our second time with this tour company. The food and drinks were very good. We all enjoyed the hands on experience of making our lunch. So much food. If you're looking for a fun experience definitely book this with Francisco Morales.
Had a great experience with the chef learning all about the locals and the authentic Mexican dishes that he serves you learn how to cook inside of his own home very personal was a great education experience wonderful food would totally do this again
Thank you, Francisco, for such a great experience! We loved shopping in the Mercado for all the fresh ingredients, then being welcomed to your home to cook an authentic meal. It made our trip extra special. My husband loves seafood, so we purposely scheduled our class on Saturday (seafood day). The best part was that even I loved it! I’d never eaten ceviche before, but truly enjoyed it. And the hibiscus margarita was a treat, just right with the fish tacos, guacamole and salsa Mexicano (pico de gallo). Perfecto!!!
Francisco was welcoming and very accommodating. Food was great and I liked that I got recipes for all his menus
