We had the experience of a lifetime on our private whale watch tour with Whale Watch Cabo. It was just us, our Captain Gilberto, and our guide, Vittoria, an Italian marine biologist who clearly had a passion, knowledge, and a deep love for whales. Just leaving the marina we saw sea lions and hundreds of pelicans. We got a glimpse of Love Beach and the famous Arch before making our way into the Sea of Cortez. We got some brief sightings early of at least one whale and decided to keep moving along. It paid off. We were rewarded with some amazing visuals of a mother and her baby. At first, they came up every few minutes and then the baby decided it was time for a show. The young whale must have breached 40 or 50 times, delighting us each and every time. It truly was a magical experience. As with everything in nature, no guarantees, but we had the experience of a lifetime and Whale Watch Cabo took wonderful care of us and clearly showed a deep respect to the whales and the sea. Highly recommend this tour!

Cabo San Lucas' famous landmark in the arch. We will shot the boat shortly to take pictures
Lovers beach will be our first sighting on our way out of the bay. We will pass by while giving you a chance to take photos from the boat.
Pelican Rock is a small rock formation located in the marine protected area of the Bay of Cabo San Lucas. We will pass by on our way out of the bay
After the tour of the bay we will head out either into the Sea of Cortez or into the Pacific Ocean where we will look for whales. We mostly encounter humpback whales, but can also encounter other whales and marine life incl grey whales, dolphins, sea lions and turtles to name a few. We always go the extra mile, away from the crowds to not disturb the whales and offer you the best encounters. Your biologist guide will teach you about the whales, dolphins and other animals you encounter during your tour, as well as take photos which are included.

This was our second tour with this company and I will continue to come back. We did a small group tour last year and we had 8 people this time and opted for a private tour with Oscar and Captain Gil. It was amazing once again, I cannot say enough good things about these people. Oscar got us to see a blue whale which most people never experience, was highly knowledgeable and told us about his experiences with rescue which is very admirable. They have repeat happy customers with us!
We learned so much from Payo and Captain Hugo did a great job. Wondered photographs!
A beautiful day on the water. Dome was our guide. Hector the captain. They couldn’t have been more pleasant and informative. I have not been disappointed with Whale Watch Cabo.
Amazing time with Payo and Captain Hugo - less than an hour in and we saw many dolphins and also humpback whales - unforgettable experience and highly recommend, thank you again!
We booked a private whale watching tour with Whale Watch Cabo as a surprise for our daughter, and it turned out to be one of the most meaningful experiences we’ve had as a family. Our guide, Victoria, is a marine biologist, and that completely changed the tone of the trip. This wasn’t a generic “boat ride to spot whales.” She brought depth, context, and real scientific insight to everything we saw. You could feel her passion for marine life in the way she explained humpback behavior, migration patterns, and mother–calf dynamics. It felt like a floating field seminar—in the best possible way. What stood out most was the clear commitment to the welfare of the whales. Victoria was deliberate about maintaining proper distance, cutting the engine when appropriate, and reading the whales’ behavior before repositioning the boat. She explained why each decision mattered. That level of care made it obvious this company prioritizes conservation over spectacle. We saw multiple humpbacks, including a mother and calf, and the experience felt intimate without ever feeling intrusive. It struck the right balance between awe and respect. As a surprise, this was extraordinary. Our daughter came away not just excited, but genuinely inspired. That’s a rare outcome for what could have been a simple tourist outing. If you’re in Cabo and want something thoughtful, educational, and ethically run, book the private tour and ask for Victoria. It’s worth it.
This was a really interesting travel to see whales. There were another two people and my partner and myself on the boat, along with Hector and Payo.. We opted to have a marine biologist on board and it was one of the better whale watching trips I've ever experienced. She was full of insight and experienced in talking about the whales from birth to adulthood. If you're going on a whale watch, I would recommend learning all you can during that period of time. Make sure you're on a boat with a marine biologist. you're on a smaller boat, you get pretty close to the whales. Highly recommend
Amazing experience!! Very grateful for our guide and captain who made it the best experience in cabo!! Will def come back again
We had a small group and our guide was so knowledgeable about all the marine life , we felt safe and saw so many whales. Highly recommend this company.
This was the best whale watching trip you could ever ask for. We saw so many humpback whales and our biologist Josephine was so knowledgeable we learned things we had never known about whales.
We went out on December 23 with Jo & Hector and it was an amazing experience. Since we had a group of 6 we chose the private option. We initially saw a few whales but then ended up getting quite the show, with what we learned was a rare experience for the time of year, with a double breach. We could tell that even Jo & Hector were excited about the action we were able to witness and we knew that this was a very special trip. Jo, the marine biologist on our trip was very knowledgeable and Hector was a great captain. They were both very engaged with us and explained what we were seeing. This was something I really wanted to do on this trip having never been to Cabo during the whale season. I highly recommend Whale Watch Cabo, the process of booking was easy and they arranged our transportation to and from our resort as well. Jo took a ton of amazing pictures so we could just sit back and enjoy the show! If you are on the fence about whether or not this experience is worth it - know that our trip definitely was and we will do this again if we find ourselves in Cabo during the season again!
Excellent knowledgeable staff, committed to the safety of the whales and providing a memorable experience for the quests.
We were blessed with a beautiful day and wonderful guides, Victoria and Kevin. She told us so much about whale behavior. It was fun and so fantastic to learn. I am so glad we got such a terrific tour!
We booked a private whale watching tour with Whale Watch Cabo and had the MOST AMAZING EXPERIENCE. Josephine and Captain Hugo were so kind, fun, and helpful and Josephine shared her knowledge of marine biology with us, pointing out sea lions, different species of birds, and of course providing information on the whales themselves. We trusted their knowledge and experience and were glad we did as they tracked a spot where we got the most extraordinary encounter with two humpback whales who swam right along side the boat, close enough to touch (but we of course did not touch them). It was truly a magical morning and one we will be reliving over and over again with the help of the gorgeous photos and videos Josephine took and shared with us. It was truly such a gift to get to spend time up close with these magnificent creatures and I'm so grateful for the experience. I cannot recommend this highly enough––BOOK IT!!
Whale Watch Cabo gave our family an experience we will never forget. From the moment we checked in, the staff made everything seamless and welcoming, but the real standouts were our biologist, Victoria, and our captain, Hector. Victoria was incredible—warm, patient, and deeply knowledgeable. She kept every member of our family engaged, explaining whale behavior, migration, and conservation in a way that was both fascinating and easy to understand. Her passion for marine life made the experience feel truly special. Captain Hector was the perfect captain for a family outing. He was skilled, calm, and extremely respectful of the whales. His ability to position the boat safely and responsibly gave us breathtaking views while ensuring the animals were never disturbed. We always felt safe and well taken care of. The combination of these two made the entire trip unforgettable. We saw amazing whale activity, learned so much, and shared moments as a family that we’ll be talking about for years. If you’re visiting Cabo—especially with family—Whale Watch Cabo is an absolute must. And if you’re lucky enough to go with Victoria and Hector, you’re in for something truly exceptional. 🐋💙
Really enjoyed the host and the pilot. They were perfect in terms of boat positioning without hassling the whales. Definitely are close enough. They emailed great pictures after so put away yur phone and enjoy it.
It was clear to me that Payo, our guide, was genuinely fascinated by whales, and filled our tour with lots of information about these creatures that only deepened the experience of actually seeing them! I also felt as if Alonso -- our captain, was working with Payo to pursue finding them, even when it meant leaving a crowd and following along. They also patiently waited for my family when we were a little late, which I also appreciated. Receiving photos at the end that Payo took was an added benefit -- they were great! Overall, an excellent tour!
We saw more whale activity on this 2 hour excursion than all of our previous trips to other destinations, combined. Got lucky I guess with right time of the year - last week of March. Our guide Payo and Captain Alonso were wonderful and respectful of the whale's territory which other operators didn't. Great company.
Our trip was amazing! We saw so many whales breaching and had such a wonderful time! The kids loved it too! We had a family trip with 9 of us, littles included. My husband is disabled and they did everything to help him enjoy this trip. The captain was so fun, he got as excited as we did upon seeing the endless breaching of mother and baby whales. We had a private tour which was so worth it. Our guide Paol, was so knowlagable, and fun. I would reccomend them to anyone! Plus, I initially made the reservation for the wrong dates and they very graciously let it slide at no cost.
Whales, whales, and more whales. We saw 12-15 pods of whales in 2 hours. Tails, heads, backs, pectoral fins, babies, adults, gray whales, humpback whales. Our guide, Poala, was amazing, she made the trip even better by explaining types of whales, when/where they breed, so informative. The best was when she started singing to them. I do think these magnificent mammals can feel the love, and stayed around us for longer. I had my teens, and a young adult, my 15 year old said, "This is probably #2-3 of the best things I've ever done?" Now that's a review you don't ever everyday, right!
The trip was very well run. The guide was a marine biologist and very informative. We saw around 20 whales. They had a quality camera and emailed us great pictures. If you are interested in whale watching, I cannot imagine not enjoying this trip.
When the tour said sightings were guaranteed we didn’t know to what extent that meant, but to say we were blown away by the experience would be an understatement. We opted for the 8:30AM tour and upon arrival at the office found the process to be extremely efficient. Our group of 6 was able to check-in prior and we departed promptly at scheduled tour time. It was a short walk to the marina where our boat, Mas Tequila awaited our arrival. The tour was lead by a marine biologist who provided thoughtful insight the entire tour and worked cohesively with our boat captain to ensure we were in prime position to catch the action. We saw seals, a variety of birds, and of course, WHALES! Some surprised us right up next to our boat, but most were seen from afar. Sightings are obviously completely random, but we were pleasantly surprised with how many we got to see, especially all of the babies! We even saw a breech and the free photo aspect is such an added value.
Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. This tour group is head and shoulders above the rest. If you can afford to take the private tour, do so. You won’t regret it. Give yourself plenty of time to arrive early. – Cabo is very busy and there’s lots of traffic.
Best tour ever. Jo was a great tour guide. Having an expert marine biologist was amazing and she was so informative. Private charter was very nice. Best part was we could watch everything and not worry about photos. They took photos and we received a link to Dropbox a few days later. The photos were amazing and better than we could have done.
Great your, very accommodating. Guide did a great job in explaining the 2 different types of whales, and they dud everything possible to maximize the sightings.
We saw several whales and a herd of dolphins. The gray whales were putting on quite a show--one breach and sticking their heads out of the water. Jo was a wonderful guide who clearly loves the animals and her job, her energy was amazing and she was very informative answering our questions. Hugo was the boss, the tour was easy going and smooth.
Amazing experience with biologist Payo and Captain Alonso. Many encounters with both humpback and gray whales near the boat including one newborn and mother swimming right under the boat.
We had a wonderful time on our private whale tour! Domi was our guide and Hector was our captain, they were amazing. Domi was so informative and Hector zipped around at made sure we got to the whales. You can tell they really love their jobs!! And having the photos included was a huge plus…..most places show you your amazing pictures then gouge with crazy prices. Thank you!!
Everything went very smoothly and the whales were beautiful, but I have yet to receive the free photos that were promised. I don't know what happened with that, the guide said they should be sent to my email in about 2-3 days, but it has been a week. Did I miss understand the timing of the photos or am I just not going to receive them?
The guide and boat captain were so knowledgeable and friendly. We saw tons of whales! We would definitely repeat this activity and recommend it highly.
Jo and Hector were amazing and we had the best tour with multiple sightings and a small group of whales played around or boat for several minutes. The Kentucky group was the best!!!!
Guide & Captain were awesome. Amazing up close views of whales! Humpbacks & Grey Whales. Absolutely recommend 🐋🐳
This was the perfect excursion for our group! Oscar was incredibly knowledgeable and educational and our captain knew just where to find the whales! Even the skeptics in our group were awed by the beautiful whales and the experience as a whole! I highly recommend!
This trip was amazing. Went because of a recommendation from a family member. Our tour guide the French lady was amazing. Everyone in the boat was very sweet and we saw amazing whale flips
Guide and captain were excellent 👏 great trip! We saw a pod of humpbacks 🐋 Sea lion tagging along and even a marlin! Would go again!
We had a fun time looking for whales and watching them when we saw them. Our family group included children. There were other non-family members on the boat as well but max was 12. All the kids were looking for whales enthusiastically. The guide was very informative and we saw several whales, including a mother and calf. They are truly beautiful creatures. We appreciated getting the guide’s photos…they were better than ours!
We had an unforgettable whale watching experience as a family with Jo and Victor! This company is very professional from scheduling-to-tour, and their boats are perfect for a fun day trip activity. Jo, our guide, not only shared her knowledge but also her passion for marine wildlife. We watched whales, sea lions, and were even lucky enough to see an Orca pod! Highly recommendable.
We had the best tour ever a few days ago. Josephine and Hector were amazing. They knew their stuff and we saw 10+ whales extremely up close. We brought my parents and 2 year old daughter and it was very comfortable, informative and special.
Extremely well done whale watching tour! Both our guide (Josephine) and Capt. (Hector)were personable and exceptionally good at what they do. Our tour guide expertly gave us a ton of information and insight regarding whales and how they live their lives. They were able to share with us the very rare sighting of a female humpback and her very young calf play and frolic together. Both whales treated us to an awesome display of thrusting their bodies up out of the water, falling back and smacking the water with their bodies. We have done a number of whale watching tours over the years and this was undoubtedly the best by far.
We spent the morning late December with Whale Watch Cabo and our designated Marine biologist Oscar with our college age sons. It was truly one of the best travel excursions I have been on in 30 years. Super knowledgeable and fun! Great boat captain. Like being on the water...more mobile and water level photography the best. Saw a double breach and some very active whales! Heading back out again tomorrow. Very special memories with our family.
Wonderful experience! Having the marine biologist made our e patience so much better! It was wonderful getting to see the whales up close! FYI- Though these looked calm - the sitting and waiting/watching did e d with 1 nauseous teen.
They cancelled without notice. They told me only after I tried to contact them. Went to the meeting place anyways to see if they are there. No one there.
Cabo in December is amazing. The whales are everywhere as we see them up and down the coastline. How could it get any better...then we went on a trip with a marine biologist. Not only did we learn a great deal, we spent an extended amount of time with two humpback whales. DO NOT VISIT CABO WITHOUT TAKING A TOUR WITH THIS TEAM!
We had a private tour with Oscar, it was incredible! He was so kind and professional, was very informative, but not overbearing with the education. Was just a perfect host and guide. Highly recommend doing a private tour with Oscar!
Our whale watching tour did not disappoint! We had the opportunity to see 3 humpback whales - mother, baby and a male. Payo (guide) and Hugo (captain) were fantastic and ensured we had a very positive and exhilarating experience. Payo's knowledge of the whales and their behavior was incredibly informative and Hugo was adept at spotting and carefully, yet expeditiously getting us to the location of the whales. Because the baby whale was so young, it stayed near the top of the water to breathe more regularly and the mother did as well. This provided a unique opportunity to witness the whales swimming together and being playful. Most impressively, the male whale breached out of the water twice very close to us and it was a remarkable site! Payo took high quality photos for us throughout the tour so we could focus on watching with our own eyes - we ended up with several beautiful high resolution photos to document our memories. Whale Watch Cabo's team was very efficient with booking and answering questions and taking care of us on the day of our tour. Highly recommend!
What a professional group! They really know what they are doing to give us the best opportunity to see what we're paying for ... WHALES! And they are excited as we are when we get a good sighting. Our trip was special because we got to see Mama's and their Baby's! One baby was very playful and doing belly rolls - which must be kinda rare b/c our expert Rui and our driver Dani were even surprised. AND thanks to Dani's expert driving and safety the whales went right under our boat! I felt they were doing everything to keep the whales safe (keeping distance, cutting engine, etc). Even in a zodiac I felt safe and stable in high boat traffic. IMO the best part of this tour is that they give you good, high quality, digital photos for FREE so you can put your own phone down and enjoy the moment IN REAL LIFE! I've uploaded 5 from them to see the zoom and quality. And 5 from my own phone to give a perspective of how close you can be.
Nice to have a dedicated small boat. Our group of 7 had tons of room, and the onboard photographer provided photos of the whales right away.
The best whale watching tour in Los Cabos! We had a private tour for four people in 2023 and loved it so much that when I was planning my wedding in February 2024 I knew exactly what I wanted to do: another private tour with a small group of family and friends. Our guide and captain were happy to help with the surprise of a quick vow exchange in front of the arch. We then went on to have the best tour and saw so many whales. Best day ever, and I can’t thank the staff at Whale Watch Cabo enough.
Fabulous experience and informative with Sara as our guide and Oscar as the captain of the boat. Would use Whale Watch Cabo again!
We had an amazing family experience. Being close to the whales and learning bout the local ecosystem was absolutely fantastic. Thank you Gisela and Hector!
