Los Cabos Whale Watching (Pictures & Transportation Included)

We joined the whale watching tour at the very end of the season due to the Easter holidays, which we had to use because of our school-age children. At that time, True Baja was no longer offering tours for April. Therefore, we contacted the operator directly and received a very prompt and friendly reply saying that they would reopen the date for us. One special aspect was that we were picked up directly at our hotel, which seems to be rather unusual in Los Cabos. Our driver, Sasha, was extremely kind and helpful and even after the tour she was available for questions and recommendations for other activities (not only those offered by True Baja). The whale watching tour itself was very well organized. All the guides spoke very clear and easy-to-understand English and accompanied the entire tour with explanations. They were always friendly and seemed to be in contact with other operators during the trip, so after a short time we came across a whale family with three whales. They were very active, surfacing and jumping repeatedly and putting on a fantastic show. Our boat only had a very small group on board — apart from us there were only three other guests, which we really appreciated. It was not a “party boat” with loud music and drinking, so the atmosphere was very relaxed and enjoyable. The team also took great photos with professional equipment during the tour, which were later shared with us for free via a cloud service. We always kept a respectful distance from the whales and never went “chasing” them. That was not necessary anyway, as the whales stayed within sight the whole time. All in all, it was an amazing experience with a fantastic team. 100% recommendation.

Everything was excellent! The convenience of transportation to/from my hotel to the marina was great. Both our captain and guide did a great job locating the humpback whales and even though we were nearing the end of the season, they were still able to find a mama whale, her baby, and another "protector" whale travelling together. The photos we received after the tour were so good! Way better than what I was able to capture in my shots. Just a tip for those that may get nauseous on the water, recommend taking some anti-nausea meds beforehand to make it more enjoyable. I wish I would have.

The beginning of the trip we were out watching the whales. The captain then decided to take us on a boat tour away from the whales which took up approximately 1 hour out of our trip to see absolutely nothing. Was dissatisfied with the trip.

It was great! We came towards the end of whale watching season but Leonardo and the captain did a great job making sure we saw some whales. Our driver picked us up at our hotel on time and got us back efficiently. We got our photos the same night as our visit and they look amazing! We would definitely come back during December-February when the season is at its peak.

Traveling from San Jose, California, and Seattle, Washington, this experience with True Baja Whale Watching Tours was absolutely worth it for both of us and easily one of the highlights of our trip to Cabo. Our driver, Pablo, picked us up directly from our hotel right on time, which was included in the package. He was attentive, friendly, and even shared a bit of local history during the ride, setting the tone for such a great experience. The tour also includes round trip transportation to and from your hotel, which makes everything seamless. We personally chose to stay and walk around the marina afterward, but having that option was a huge plus. Once we arrived at the dock, we were warmly welcomed by our guide, Leonardo, and our captain, Alejo. Leonardo was extremely knowledgeable and made the entire tour engaging and fun from start to finish. The tour itself was absolutely stunning. We cruised past the beautiful granite rock formations, the iconic Arch, and Lover’s Beach. And the best part, we saw whales!!!!!! Such an unforgettable, breathtaking moment that had us in happy tears. 🥹 To top it off, the tour included photos, which made it even more special to relive those memories. We would absolutely book with True Baja again on our next visit to Cabo. Highly recommend!

Leonardo was an amazing guide. Our captain was Johnny on the spot with finding whales and getting us close to their areas. We had a wonderful experience!

The transportation to & from our hotel made this tour very convenient. The van & the boat were very clean, but I can't say enough about the gentlemen who conducted this tour. They were very informative, accomodating & on time. The photos are fantastic & we highly recommend this first class tour!

We were picked up at our resort on time in a nice clean van and brought to the marina-from there we met up with our guide and boat captain. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He would point out where to look, while at the same time taking pictures (that they send to you later) and telling you facts and information about the whales. At one point one of the people on our boat got sick and he took the time to bring her water, some paper towel to clean herself up with and he sat with her and gave her advice on how to help with sea sickness which I thought was so nice and thoughtful. During our excursion we saw many whales including a mom and her baby, I appreciated that they stayed a far enough distance from the whales but close enough that we could still see and get really amazing pictures. I would 100% recommend True Baja Tours-they were all so amazing, thank you so much for making a bucket list item come true for me!

Magical! We had 10 people on our True Baja Whale Watching tour. Seeing humpback whales in the wild up close was truly unforgettable. The crew was friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure everyone got a great view. The boat was comfortable, and the whole experience felt safe and personal. Definitely a must-do in Cabo!

First class, we were all right up front and our guides did everything possible for us to see any breaches. And we saw very many breaches up close from a herd of 4 and 6. Constantly in the right place. The humpbacks were right along with his and it was so exciting.

Jan & Feb are probably peak times for whale watching. March is near the end of the season, but we still saw quite a few humpbacks. The guide also showed us a video from a couple of days ago of a pod of 25 killer whales, which was why the humpbacks were a little "shy" at the start of the tour. The guide took pictures of each guest with the Arch as the background, and took a lot of pictures of the whales from the boat, then shared all of those pictures with us. The pickup service was also good, the driver was on time, and the vehicle was clean and air conditioned.

This whale watching team really knows how to find active whales! We saw 11-13 whales as they breached, slapped their pectoral fins, spy hopped and jumped entirely out of the water. The captain speeded us swiftly from site to site for the best possible outcome. Our expert taught so much about whale behaviors. I highly recommend.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and personable. The boat captain did an amazing job of locating the whales and then keeping us at the head of the boat line. Was a fabulous experience and well worth the money!

We went on a whale watching tour yesterday and it was absolutely fantastic. Leonardo was our guide. We first went to the arch and got pictures which are included in this tour. We saw multiple whales, whales in competition a lot of tail display, the captain of the boat couldn’t have done a better job of going after the whales as soon as they saw them. I can’t begin to express how everything from the pick up from the hotel. The driver was wonderful very fast efficient everything about this tour couldn’t have been better.we liked the smaller boat experience. There were only eight of us with the captain and Leonardo. I recommend this tour of 1000% if not more!!!!

We absolutely loved our experience with True Baja. Very professional and knowledgeable crew, very friendly, and the pictures they took were incredible. (They were way better than the ones we took ourselves.) I recommend you just try to take video with your own device and leave the photos to the crew. Also, this is a small company, just a few employees, so if you prefer supporting small/local businesses, this is the crew for you. We will absolutely take this tour again next time we're in Cabo.

A great experience! Our expert guide Leonardo and his boat driver were quick to spot whales and get us close enough for amazing photos. His knowledge and descriptions of whales and their lives and habits made the trip that much more fun and interesting. A definite repeat next time in Cabo.

This was the highlight of our vacation! Ali our guide was incredible and so knowledgeable. Our boat only had 8 people and the guide was very respectful of the whales. Our boat was easy to navigate and compared to large boats with too many people we were able to see much more! The pictures were amazing and i highly recommend this tour vs other large companies. We were so fortunate to see many whales close to our boat and the highlight a mom with her baby slapping their tails. Incredible day my family will never forget!!

Pick up was on time. We got on the boat right away. The guide and captain were wonderful. We saw lots of whales, listened to their whale sounds, so amazing. Small group on the boat. Definitely worth it, a day to remember.

It was fantastic. We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel, even though we were about 45 - 60 minutes from marina. Sasha and Pablo, the owners, are amazing. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Our captain Alegro did a great job tracking the whales, and Leonardo, our guide, was a wealth of information. He filled the downtime with facts about the whales and made sure we saw a ton of whales. He took amazing pictures so we could be fully in the experience. Highly recommend taking this tour.

There was about 10 of us on the boat. It was not over-crowed and gave us plenty of room to move around if we wanted. The trip was very nice and we learned alot about the types of whales we saw on our trip. The captain’s mate was very knowledgeable and provided us with lots of whale information. He was able to answer all our questions as well.

Whale watch tour guide Leonardo & Captain Alejo were amazing. They were on top of locating the whales. Leonardo is a wealth of information about the whales you will see & the environment they live in & migrate through . We saw multiple whales including a pod of 3...momma, baby & third whale. Perfect amount of time on the water. You do not need to take pictures, Leonardo takes expert photos and will email them to you. So put down your camera and enjoy the whales 🐋.

Whale excursion UPDATE - Feb 27, 2026 with Leonardo (our guide and photographer) and Alecto our amazing captain at the wheel….due to ‘a glitch’ our photos were not available until day 5 after the tour but to our great delight, they were totally worth the wait -OMG- Leonardo KNOWS how to use his camera and got a ton of really good shots (and I am fussy when it comes to photos) …even one with whale breach (which you have to act fast to get ‘those’ pics) —thanks again to you both for such a MEMORABLE trip -would do it again in a heartbeat!!! 10/10!!!!!!!

Absolutely fantastic!!! We saw lots of whales. Probably over 20. The boat was clean and comfortable. The life vests were clean and new. The guides English was very good and he gave a lot of information about the whales. We liked it so much that we booked another trip for tomorrow!!!

It was amazing a little slow in the beginning then we started to see whale leonardo was great and very informative. We also see sea turtles mana rays and dolphins towards the end It it got even better seen five or six whales come hold up the water breach, including babies, which i've never seen before. The captain was great to. A must do when you're in cabo.

Leonardo did a fantastic job as our biologist guide. He and Captain Alejo kept watching and found whales , then moved the covered panga boat closer to them. They took us close to El Arco for photos on the way out from the dock. Highly recommend this trip if you are visiting Los Cabos.

Chose this company (True Baja) as included transfers AND photos as well as lots of ‘current’ AMAZING reviews!! We were not disappointed—-was picked up at our resort in San Jose Del Cabo on time in a newer, comfortable van, 30 min from Marina but with current road conditions took awhile longer but they anticipated that and things still ran like clockwork for our 11:00 departure) —had a total of 13 guests in all and was not crowded in their clean, stable 28’ covered panga boat- we felt very safe….initially stopped at the famous “Arch” for photos taken by guide Leonardo then to seeing that ‘first’ sighting -the beginning of many more (10+) with a couple of breaches, flipper waves and the iconic tales (Leonardo always with camera in hand). I can’t yet comment on the photos but have no doubt he will have captured great ones with his more “professional” camera - way better than me “trying” to take them on my cel phone - this way could just thoroughly enjoy the whales. He and skipper Alecjo kept keen eyes open for distant whales to zoom respectively nearer for our closer encounters - hubby and I left so fulfilled and highly recommend these passionate whale guides to take you for a fantastic experience!!!

Our 2nd year taking a Whale Watching tour with True Baja. Such a great tour! It is a smaller boat so you aren't competing with 100 other people and the captain can easily maneuver for the best views. Our guide Leonardo gave great info and took quality photos. We will be back next year for sure!

Amazing trip from communication before and solid pickup at hotel and crew was the best. Capt knew how to get to the whales quick. Often the first boat to the action. Had one 15 minute sequence running with 4 whales all breaching at least 20 times.

Our trip started with a short cruise out of the marina where we saw sea lions playing. We went to the arch and had photos taken which was a nice surprise! The whale watching was fantastic. We had multiple pods of humpback whales to watch. We even had a mama and baby who breached multiple times. Toward the end of the tour we were able to get up close and personal with two humpbacks that breached over and over again over about a 15 minute period. It was fantastic! Our captain did a fantastic job maneuvering the waves and around other sightseeing boats in the area to position us for prime views of the whales. Our guide was very informative and we look forward to seeing all the photos he took during the trip! 10 out of 10 we would do this excursions every time we come!

The tour guide was excellent both explaining the type of whales we were going to watch as well as how to handle ourselves during our time on the boat. He was friendly and knowledgeable and took extraordinary pictures which we received last night as promised

We enjoyed our first Whale watching trip with True Baja so much, we booked a second trip. The whales we saw were amazing and Leonardo, our guide, was very informational and took some great pictures which were wonderful. The pick up and return to our hotel was on time and the drivers and condition of their vans were exceptional. All spoke English and were very friendly.

This trip was AMAZING. Leonardo was so knowledgeable and the whales were there to perform. Multiple breaches, fin slaps, calves! Fantastic. We didn’t want it to end. Our transportation was clean and timely and we can’t wait to get our pictures!

It was an amazing experience. Ale and her captain were fantastic—so knowledgeable and informative. Ale was more than just a tour guide; her passion for the whales was unmistakable. Owing to very good communication with the tour operator, and their persistently positive attitude, we were looking forward to our whale watching excursion well in advance of our cruise ship's arrival in Cabo San Lucas on Feb. 13, 2026. The excursion was well organized and well staffed. The guide Hernando and the boat Captain were welcoming, and the guide was knowledgeable about whales and other marine mammals. They were respectful of the ocean in general and the whales in particular. They made reasonable efforts to give our tour the best experience possible. We can strongly recommend True Baja because of the interesting, safe, and enjoyable outing they provided.

We had an amazing time whale watching. First, we were picked up by their van and driven to the dock. After a safety briefing we boarded and went to the Arch for photos, then on to whale watching. We were fortunate to see many whales and their behaviors in the ocean. It helped having one of the fastest boats on the water to allow us to get to an exceptional spot before the whales moved on. Leonardo was very informative and knowledgeable about the whales and their behaviors. He added a lot of context to what we were seeing. Overall, a highly recommended company and outing.

The tour was awesome! The captain tried really hard to find a whale and followed it for a long way. The photos were great too!

I highly recommend this tour. Leonardo and Fernando were a great team. Leonardo is quite knowledgeable about whale activity. Fernando always positioned our boat so we had the best vantage point to see whales when boats were clustered around. Our grandchildren loved it - as did we all. Best of all, we were picked up and returned to our resort. Can’t wait to see the photos taken by the guide.

The entire Crew was very accommodating. Unfortunately the whales were not as helpful as we would have liked...luck of the draw, I guess.
