Itinerary
Once onboard your air-conditioned vehicle, leave Los Cabos and enjoy a scenic 2-hour drive to the format capital, La Paz. As you pass by the Pacific Ocean, look out for the giant Humpback whales as they breach and play in the deep blue sea.
Arriving at the cosmopolitan boardwalk of La Paz, meet your expert guide and local boat captains, and get kitted out with your snorkel gear. Board the local style "panga" boat and cruise into the main bay. Home to whale sharks every winter, this is their feeding ground, and the conditions provide plenty of krill for them to feed on. Once alongside the whale sharks, slip into the Ocean and swim with them in their natural habitat. Your marine mammal guide will always be with you, giving the best recommendations on making the experience unforgettable. After your once-in-a-lifetime swim, head back to the boardwalk and stroll to the local seafood restaurant. Regional dishes are included as well as soft drinks and water. Enjoy your well-deserved meal before boarding the air-conditioned vehicle.

This was a bucket list trip. Swimming so close to these unique sharks was amazing. We knew we were at the tail end of the season so we were a bit worried we might miss them but we saw several and to be honest. It seemed we really only needed one to be able to have the experience swimming along with them. :) so worth it! And aim happy Mexico is carefully protecting them as well.
Our La Paz tour with Cabo Adventures was honestly wonderful. The guides, driver, and the rest of the tour staff were friendly, professional, and made sure everyone had a great experience. Until the very end of the day, we would have gladly given this tour 5 stars. Unfortunately, everything changed when we returned to the Cabo Adventures facility. After being dropped off from our tour, my 6-year-old son urgently needed to use the restroom. My nephew took him inside but they were denied entry because they were told they needed a reservation to enter the facility. He explained that we had literally just returned from a Cabo Adventures tour and that a small child simply needed to use the restroom, but they were still turned away. I then went inside to ask why paying customers who had just returned from one of your tours were being denied access to the restroom. The front desk/hostess immediately greeted us with a rude and confrontational attitude, questioning whether we were actually customers because she claimed we weren't wearing the correct wristbands. Ironically, my husband had already gone into the restroom and was never questioned. It wasn't until he came out and showed our reservation that we were finally allowed inside. What happened next was completely unacceptable. As I walked to the restroom, my husband remained nearby watching the soccer game playing on one of the televisions. He clearly overheard the employee call me "pinche vieja pendeja." At no point during our interaction did I raise my voice, insult her, or treat her disrespectfully. I simply asked why a 6-year-old child who had just returned from your tour was being denied access to the restroom. As someone who also works in the tourism industry, I understand that companies have policies and procedures. However, there is never an excuse for an employee to insult a customer, especially in front of a young child. It's incredibly disappointing that one employee's behavior overshadowed what had otherwise been an excellent experience. The rest of the Cabo Adventures team was fantastic, which makes this interaction even more unfortunate. I hope management takes this review seriously and addresses the situation appropriately. No guest should leave an otherwise amazing day remembering being insulted by a member of the staff.
My wife and I had an absolutely unforgettable experience swimming with whale sharks in La Paz, and a huge part of that was thanks to our guide, Joe. From start to finish, Joe was professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what he does. He made sure we felt comfortable and safe the entire time, especially before getting in the water. His instructions were clear and reassuring, which made a big difference—especially for first-time swimmers with whale sharks. Once we were in the water, the experience was surreal. Joe did an amazing job positioning us so we could safely and respectfully swim alongside these incredible animals. You can tell he truly cares about both his guests and the well-being of the whale sharks. He also captured amazing photos and videos for us, which we’ll cherish forever. It allowed us to stay present in the moment without worrying about documenting everything ourselves. Overall, this was easily one of the highlights of our trip to Cabo/La Paz. If you’re considering a whale shark tour, I cannot recommend Joe enough—he made the entire experience seamless, safe, and truly magical. Thank you again, Joe! — David & Lisa
I didn’t go. I was super excited. They told me the wrong pickup time over the phone. So I showed up 45 min late. Then refused to refund me my $500. It was my birthday.
It was our first time in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. We stayed at the hotel Corazón, which was just a short walk from the marina. The tour guide was super friendly and funny, extremely knowledgeable and passionate about whales. We learned some interesting facts. It was my first time seeing whales breaching. They also took us to see El Arco, served us drinks and a tasty lunch. The tour lasted about 2 1/2 hours. Best part of our vacation. Truly amazing experience! I highly recommend this tour.
The tour was better than expected. They picked us up on time at our resort in a clean, new van. (With AC)… not always a given in Mexico. Drove us to the marina, supplied us with a sandwich for lunch. (Also better than I expected). Set us up with our wetsuit's, loaded us in our boats, we were not cramped at all, everyone was professional & communicated to us every step of the way; their English was very good. The only stressful part of the day was the brief minutes when they are trying to locate a whale shark to swim with…. This took 10 long minutes. :) Dante & Enrique are a great team! Dante, our in water guide spent the entire time in the water following the whale shark & communicating the best position of the boat and swimmers. Enrique circled with the boat picking up & moving us ahead of the whale shark so we would have the best viewing experience…. In case you aren’t aware, whale sharks never stop moving. You won’t truly appreciate a guide like Dante & his endurance, until you try and swim next to these massive sharks. They appear to be moving slow… they aren’t. This is where Dante & Enrique’s system of moving swimmers in front of the sharks, basically lining you up in their path as they swim by; works so well! So good news if you haven’t visited the gym for a cardio session in a while… Dante & Enrique will get you right where you need to be. You will have more time than you can handle in the water with these giants! I almost forgot to mention the meal they served when we returned to the dock; very good! I’m pretty sure they caught the fish they put in my tacos while we were out on the tour. Then we were loaded back up in our van for our nap & trip back to our resort. Pretty great day!
Dante y Juan were great guides and captains! Worth every penny, everyone got a close encounter! 2 hours on the boat and sharks galore! We would book again, perfect water temp and flat in the bay with a light breeze.
It was a great time, Mario was a good guide and funny
This was an experience of a lifetime for me and my 10 year old daughter. Capt Juan was amazing and our guide, Dante, made everything incredible in spite of the water being a bit murky. He put us right on top of 3 different whale sharks. Absolutely stunning and magnificent creatures. Lunch was awesome, equipment was awesome, our drive was awesome, everything was awesome! 10 out of 10!
Our guide Mario was super, as was our Capitán Don Enrique! Mario is very passionate and extremely knowledgeable of the ecosystem he grew up in. In awe of such majestic and gentle giants. Tan chevere que me llenó de La Paz a mi corazón.
Dante and Juan were fantastic guides and captain. Very helpful, friendly and encouraging to the whole group. They covered all the bases and explained the preserve area and how they operate within it. Great job guys! Thank you
On the boat- Dante and Javier were fantastic! We swam with a bunch of whales. Dante was great about guiding us in the water so we had the best view of the whale sharks. No one became a whale shark snack, and we came back with the same number of people that we started with. Javier drove the boat nice and smooth, and there were lots of dolphins and pelicans. Overall, a fantastic time! Also, lunch was delicious tacos. For the drive out to La Paz- Piña was our driver. He did a great job! We sat in the front and it was great to talk with him and learn more about Baja. Next time we’ll be stopping for carnitas!!!
Incredible experience!! The laws are very strict to protect the animals and it’s clear they take the eco tourism seriously. With that said, when you understand the rules, it makes sense why things are done the way they are. Mario (dive guide) and Renillo (boat captain) were very fun, informative, safe, and helpful. Got to check a huge item off my bucket list with this trip! We also saw 3 pods of dolphins, 6 total whale sharks, and manta rays. Every boat was spread out so you never felt like you were stacked on top of each other. Each group of 2 people got 3x dives with the sharks.
Mario and Javier showed us an incredible afternoon. Once in a lifetime experience and I won’t forget it soon
JOE, our LaPaz guide, and JAVIER, the boat captain, are MARVELOUS, and were very helpful to locate, swim and return to the boat with ease. GREAT DAY and a MAGICAL session with the larger fish in the WORLD.
Loved my guide Mario and captain Abram. The lunch was … mas o menos… no flavor at all unfortunately. Very bland. But the trip and the guides made up for it. The food is my only complaint. Mario had some great information for us.
Mario was our guide. He has swam w whale sharks since age 14. His passion for them is contagious. Excellent experience. Worth the drive from Cabo
The best experience. Mario was the best guide and made the experience one we’ll never forget!!
Amazing!! Josh was amazing. Such a fun time and such an amazing experience!! I had sm fun and would do again 100%
Dente was great guide as well as our captain Mario. They made this experience extra special.
Super Mario was FANTASTIC!! he made the visit with the whale sharks so much fun :)
This was a really cool tour. Our guide, Dante, was very knowledgeable and made sure everyone had the opportunity to see the whale sharks. Our captain, Javier, drove the boat very smoothly and made sure we were all able to get back on the boat. The whale sharks were so majestic and I would do this again!
Mario and Beto were amazing and so were the whale sharks!
What an incredible experience! Swimming with the whale sharks was truly a bucket-list adventure. Our guide, Mario, was so knowledgeable and explained every aspect of what to expect. He was very professional while also being warm and personable, which made the whole experience feel relaxed and safe. We were able to swim with the whale sharks three different times! One of the most inspiring moments was when a whale shark stopped and was upright in the water feeding — something I will never forget. As we were returning to the marina, we even saw many whale sharks feeding near the surface, and our captain Javier slowed the boat so we could take photos. It was an amazing way to end the trip. Highly recommend this experience!
Great guides, driver, boat captain were all fantastic! We were able to get to see the sharks and the pick up and drop off eased a lot of stress.
My husband and I had a thrilling experience swimming with whale sharks in the sanctuary. Dante was a terrific guide who timed things so well that people who didn't see whale sharks on their initial jumps got to try again and see them. The water is murky from the plankton but it's surreal having a spotted behemoth suddenly swim under you. Dante told us to try to swim near the side fin near the head if possible and doing that meant an easier swim in the draft of the gentle giant. We are very grateful that it worked out to see them and Captain Javier did a fine job spotting whale sharks and keeping everything moving.
This experience was unforgettable! Joe was an excellent tour guide and a strong swimmer. You can tell he loves his job. Him and Juan, the driver of the boat, worked well together to get us close but also a safe distance from the whale sharks. The water was cloudy when we went but Joe made sure we got close enough to see and swim with them. I also loved that the government allows a certain amount of boats in at a time to keep the animals safe.
Fantastic experience swimming with whale sharks. Our guide with Cabo Adventures was great. The one issue was that we were told we would be called the day prior to confirm which never happened and then the van to pick us up at our resort at 6 am left as we ran after it (we were out front at 6:05 am). This was surprising in Mexico when on “Mexico time”. We called and then had to take a cab for $40 to catch up with the group at the Marina in Cabo where you board the van for La Paz. We were told when we got there that that is why they warn people to be out front on time or they would get left (we never got that information.). I think if we had booked directly with Cabo Adventures instead of through Trip Adviser this would not have happened because the communication is better (also would have saved some money). In the end however everything worked out and it was a great experience.

It was amazing. Our tour guide was Mario and Don Tano was the captain, and both did a really good job. It was way more adventurous than I thought but it totally worth it. I highly recommend this tour as Mario took the time to explain everything and to make sure everything was safe not only for us, but for the whale sharks as well. I really loved how respectful this tour was with the animals, and the tacos after were spot on.
We loved swimming with the whales sharks! Our guide Mario was incredibly experienced made sure we all got multiple rounds to swim with the sharks we found. Mario gave us very good guidance regarding the behaviour we should follow during the experience. This made us feel equipped to have a successful experience! Javier was our captain and he skillfully ensured we’d be as close to the sharks as possible. Great experience that we’d recommend!
Amazing time swimming with the whale sharks and even got to see Dolphins! Jo-Jo and Juan were amazing guides and made sure we knew where to swim and how to swim with the sharks. Amazing
Juan and Joe Joe where amazing
Joe and Juan were fantastic. Joe made sure we got close to the shark and took excellent pictures. Worth every penny!!
FIrst time adventure! It was a long, but wonderful day. We were picked up from our hotel at 6 a.m. and returned around 5 p.m. by their bus. It was around a 2 hour bus ride through the scenic desert. The company took good care of us from start to finish. Highlights included going out on the boat into the beautiful bay of La Paz. We saw plenty of dolphins as we approached the swimming area. The Whale Sharks (they are a fish) was impressive with their great size. It was a chance to swim next to these huge beasts (20+ tons) as they ate plankton. They took four at a time and each swimmer had 2 or more swims. Our guide and helper was Jao and he shared a lot of knowledge and made everyone very comfortable. At the end, we went to an associate restaurant. The tour includes a choice of either of chicken or fish tacos. Good food. We bought a beer to help them go down well.
We had a great experience with Eric as our driver picking us up and super Mario as our guide in the water as well as our boat driver. Overall very well planned and we saw lots of whale sharks. The tacos for lunch were refreshing. You do have to buy the photos which are an extra 60 USD, but we thought it was a very worthwhile excursion.
We had the best time here! David was our guide and he kept up with the sharks well and helped us see 5 different ones in the 30 minutes we had. They were AMAZING to see and be so close to. One of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had.
We booked swimming with whale sharks and were told we’d be picked up at the hotel on their brochure. When no one came we called at 620 and were told nope we missed it; little did we know they pick you up elsewhere without any communication to do so. When I called Cabo Adventure to ask for a refund they were awful on the phone refusing to even let me speak and then told me I didn’t deserve respect. I have never been so disgusted with service provided somewhere, and spoken to such children on the phone who didn’t listen to a word I said; and never have I been told by a service I wasn’t worthy of respect. Disgusting experience and disgusting service
Amazing experience...swam with four different whale sharks, from 16 to 27 feet.. Our guide Mario was indded Super Mario...very knowledgeable, safety first, and fun. The boat captain Enrique was terrific too...we felt very safe.
Mario and our captain were fantastic! Very attentive and got us to many whale sharks. We'll definitely be back!
Disappointing, stressful. Most expensive tour we did. Not enough bathrooms for women, so many of us couldn't try on the wetsuits before embarking because we were in line 20 min waiting for a bathroom. A woman in our group didn't get the chance to use the bathroom at all and was visibly uncomfortable and literally ran for it upon return. A third woman in our group didn't get gear that worked but it was too late because we were on the boat. The capitain and the the guide yelled more than they needed to. Waste of money and a vacation day. Cabo Adventures is a giant enterprise with little quality control. We went with three other tour companies for four other tours during vacation and had a great time with the rest--the other tour companies (Nativo and Remo and another we found on Viator) had better guides, better equipment, less rushed, more accurate trip descriptions, cheaper, and more fun than Cabo Adventures. And the other tour companies sent us glorious pictures without making you sit through a sales pitch. Cabo Adventures will nickel and dime you for everything, despite charging too much to begin with, and you get the hard sell on everything from photos to more tips to gear. I do NOT recommend, especially if there are women in your group.

I had an amazing day trip with Dante and captain Abram! Informative and active experience with a whale shark spotted immediately upon entry into the protected area. We were able safely swim alongside “our” shark in smaller groups in a rotating system to keep from spooking the massive animal. Dante was clear and concise with instructions all while taking great footage of our group’s swim. After we wrapped up and headed back to the marina we were treated to a great lunch at the restaurant in the marina. Easy van ride from my resort to the meetup site in downtown Cabo we had an easy drive up to La Paz as well as a return van ride directly back to our resorts. Can’t recommend this experience any higher! Garcias Dante y Abram!
Absolutely incredible experience. Would highly recommend this excursion to anyone! Our captain Diego and guide Dante were awesome. We got to swim next to a whale shark and get very close to it! Overall it was such an unforgettable experience!
Our guide Joe was amazing as well as our captain Javier! They make a great team and gave us the best experience possible. Joe was very knowledgeable and took time to help each of us get up close with the whale sharks and swim alongside them, positioning us and directing us. He is an expert at managing multiple people in the water at once. At one point we were surrounded by 3 whale sharks all feeding. We saw many dolphins, a humpback whale in the distance and even a leatherback turtle! I definitely recommend this tour but be advised it takes good swimming and stamina to swim alongside the gentle giants. Thank you again Joe and Javier!
Joe(Guide) and Javier(Captain) did a wonderful job. I would certainly recommend and do it again. It was a very safe experience while still getting the adrenaline kicking in when you are up close to a 28’ shark. We also saw dolphins, humpback beach in the distance, and a leatherback sea turtle. Lunch was good also with bar/ restaurant that you could order additional items to included lunch.
We had a great experience with Joe! He took the time with our kids (ages 9 and 10) to be sure they saw a whale shark up close. Excellent experience from start to finish, including driver and interesting pit stops. Before you book - be aware that it is not guaranteed to go out on a boat. Whale sharks are protected, and they only allow a certain number of boats out a day on a lottery system.
This company does a great job with the tour from front to back. The staff was helpful, drivers did well, our guide Jao, the captain and helper served us well seeing these large fish was awesome. The beer-battered fish tacos at the end were amazing.
Had an amazing day, it is definitely a long day and trek from Cabo but was well worth it. Joe our snorkel guy was awesome at helping and making it a great experience to get up close in small groups. Your whole boat isn’t jumping in at once. 10 on our boat and we rotated in 2 at a time and got to go in 3 times each. We were so lucky that each time in got better and better. I always wanted to do this and was worth the wait for my 50th.
