It was advertised as a 1.5 hour ride, in reality it was a 35 minute ride and about 1 hr taking the fee for the reserve and saddling the horses. It was a nice ride. The woman who picked us up and the staff were great, but the van had no air-conditioning. I went last year and our guide talked about the turtle reserve and the flora and fauna.

Very fun outing. Staff was very helpful and ensured everyone was comfortable on their horses before we departed. Great ride and very scenic.
What an excellent experience! The ranch was so nice to visit, the staff were amazing. We ended up with a private tour because we were the only ones signed up and they didn’t cancel the excursion which we appreciated. Highlight of my trip! The views were incredible and the ride was gorgeous! Loved every minute of it!
I put 1 star because it's not possible to put 0. Purchased this excursion onboard as a “premium" . When we arrived, we were immediately asked for an extra 10 bucks cash for a national park fee that wasn’t mentioned at booking. When we arrived downstairs we saw that the horses seemed exhausted and neglected (hooves badly in need of trimming, one animal refused to move and was pushed to continue anyway, the volunteers were really embarrassed by the situation). The ride itself lasted just over an hour despite being sold as a 3-hour outing. The guides explained it includes transport and a briefing, but that’s not what “3 hours on horseback” suggests.... The photos they sell after are taken by volunteers, not photographers, and priced accordingly high (30$ THE picture??? And its not even printed...) I wouldn't recommend this place to nobody.
The most amazing experience ever the guides the views everything was amazing
Great views and very friendly tour guides. This was my daughter’s first time on a horse that wasn’t a pony and it was an awesome experience for her. I would 100% go here again and recommend it to anyone visiting
This was a 10/10 experience. The company is with Carisuva and they are an environmentally conscious company with marine biologist onsite for turtle rehabilitation. Gabby our guide was so kind, knowledgeable and great! They treat the horses great and the scenery is breathtaking! This was my husband's first time ever riding and our anniversary. Great way to start the day and we felt good supporting this company. 10000% recommend this adventure!!
Amazing experience! We were traveling with our 2 kids (6 & 9), who were both nervous when we got there. The staff was incredible at making them feel comfortable and safe. Both kids ended up riding and having a blast. The view was incredible! We did the 9:30am ride and it was blazing hot - would definitely recommend hats & long sleeves (an SPF swim shirt would be perfect).
Had a phenomenal time. Truly felt remote and was outside of civilization, we ended up having a private tour. The views were unbelievable, the pictures were great. Honestly, such a tremendous time. Having built-in transportation to, and from our resort was amazing as well, absolutely would recommend. Something else to add, I am a bigger gentleman about 6 foot 5 260 pounds. And I felt incredibly comfortable on the horses that they provide provided, had a large variety.
Very enjoyable ride along the beach and through the hills. The horses were well behaved for a beginner. They are horses, however and you need to be aware that they may suddenly stop or stray. I am in my late 60's and I did fine, but I really tried to be in tune with my horse and what he might do.
My daughter and I had a beautiful solo ride on the beach. Horses were very well behaved and well taken care of. Pick up and drop off were wonderful.
Wonderful people and beautiful view! The beach was breathtaking and we got some great pictures. We hope to see the turtles next time.
I really wanted to make my Los Cabos experience something special, so I decided to go for the horseback riding excursion offered through my cruise. We waited forever just to get on the van. Once we got there, we were charged an extra $10 for the national park entrance fee, something that was never mentioned when I booked on the ship. The horses were not in great shape, their hooves were seriously in need of trimming. My wife works with horses and she was genuinely shocked. According to the volunteers, they’d been trying to get a farrier out there for weeks, but no one ever showed up :( The actual ride was only 1 hour, even though we were sold a 3-hour tour. What they don’t tell you upfront is that the “3 hours” includes travel time and the whole briefing. The pictures were actually really pretty, but way overpriced for shots taken by volunteers rather than professional photographers. I came back feeling disappointed and frustrated by all the little details that just aren’t made clear from the start. One shoutout though: my horse Molena was absolutely awesome!
Horseback Adventure - Absolutely amazing 🐴 ride along well cared for trails and the Pacific Ocean. Trail ride itself is +/- one hour. Carisuva never disappoints from the time they pick us up at the Resort until they drop us back off. Air-conditioned van and safe driver. (they also offer Cruise Ship port pickup and dropoff) Well trained guides. Professional Photographer and photos. The ranch building is clean and has restrooms to use and free lockers for your stuff. And the horses? - HEALTHY, well trained, Loved, safe for beginner to seasoned riders. They're allowed to roam the ranch freely. At the end of the ride the guides gave us each a carrot for our horse. 🩷 If you make it to Cabo, go here for a ride. We've been to two other ranches over the years and Carisuva is our favorite. These are photos I took.
The most amazing company The horses are very well take care and the view it’s amazing The staf are very kind and friendly I really recommend this company I will coming back for the turtle release experience
Extremely disappointing and concerning experience. The ranch operates almost entirely thanks to unpaid volunteers, often without proper training, who are expected to handle a heavy workload. The atmosphere can quickly become unhealthy when things don’t go in the manager’s favor. The most alarming issue is the treatment of the animals. I personally witnessed horses being made to do multiple tours per day, for several consecutive days, despite clear signs of pain or discomfort (limping, aggressive behavior, refusal). Some older horses are still being used, and clients whose weight does not seem appropriate are nevertheless accepted. The lack of rotation and proper care deeply shocked me. Several situations involving sick or injured animals were ignored or addressed far too late. The “eco-friendly” image promoted by the ranch does not reflect the reality on the ground at all. I strongly do not recommend this place, both for volunteers and for visitors who care about animal welfare.
We had a fantastic time visiting the horse ranch and the staff and guides were so friendly and made our experience. Additionally, the driver Edgar went above and beyond. After dropping us off at our hotel, we had forgotten a bag in the lockers at the ranch. He drove all the way back to the ranch to get the bag for us. Great customer service! Highly recommend.
We had the best time riding through the desert, up the hillside, and along the beach. Definitely recommend!
Very friendly driver-even though my sister and I got lost we had easy communication for pickup elsewhere. The ranch is amazing-less commercialized than others, which I would prefer. They also have a turtle and donkey sanctuary, dogs and chickens. Our horseback riding guide Elena was outstanding. She pointed out all the local flora and fauna along the way. The horses were gentle and heeded all your prompts. Great for beginners! Riding a horse right by the ocean will be a lasting memory!
The communication about pickup and transport was good. Unfortunate for us our ride was very long from the south side of Cabo. This is not a complaint about the adventure, only an observation. We were picked up at 11am and got back to the resort about 4:30pm. The van was comfortable. When we arrived at 12:30 we were met by smiles who gave us a brief introductory to the horses. The ride was about an hour and it was beautiful scenery. One of the gentlemen rode around the area on an ATV and would meet the group to take photos of us in various locations. At the end of the ride her showed us all very quickly the photos and offered to sell them to us. $30 for one pic, $50 for all pics of a person and $80 for all pics of two people. (Digital). My daughter and I were at the back of the group and there were a few times when the guide would be explaining something to the group and we could not hear it. It would have been nice if she stopped and waited for us to catch us before explaining things. Some were simple horseback riding tips and at the end she was talking about the turtle rescue they participate in. We heard very little of what was said. That is the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. At the end of the ride we were given cold water which was nice. All in all a good adventure, easy riding for families and riders of all experience levels. I was thankful they had helmets to wear if you wanted. My daughter and I are experienced riders but always will wear helmets if able. If you are expecting super clean horses and top of the line tack this is not your place. The horses seemed well cared for but were a little dirty. To me this was expected. Saddles and tack were all acceptable.
The staff are nice and the views are gorgeous; HOWEVER, the riding time is only 1 hour, and we expected it to be over 3 hours. The advertisement is quite misleading. Also, the photos should at least be free, considering the price and the additional park entrance cost. They should also make it clear from the beginning that the photos are not free-my friend thought the photos were included and therefore didn’t bother taking any of her own.
It was a beautiful ride through the desert, hills and on the beach. It was so secluded, no one was on the beach. It was like our own private beach. So much wildlife with whales breaching in the ocean. View of the pacific was also amazing. Guides are all very sweet. Loved this tour! Great way to see a part of cabo that people dont usually get to see.
Such a fantastic experience, loved that is was a private ride. Our tour guide was great! Definitely recommend
What a great experience riding through the desert and then to the beach. The horses were gentle and even though I am in my late 60's I did not feel unsafe. The views were beautiful and it was a different experience for me. All of the employees were very helpful. Truley a great experience.
Very enjoyable. Staff very friendly and competent. Horses were nice and calm. ATVs ran great. Did both the horseback ride and ATV tour. Both tours were a lot of fun.
TLDR: If you’re an average tourist just wanting a pretty horseback stroll on the beach, you’ll probably be fine. The scenery is beautiful, the horses are saints, and the guides are nice. Just don’t expect competence… or safety… or stirrups that fit… The Longer Review: We booked this ride knowing it would be a basic tourist experience, not a clinic, not a lesson, just a fun beach ride. We weren’t expecting anything high-level. Even with that, the trip was a shock in terms of the safety issues, lack of experience, and overall disorganization. For context: between us, we ride seven days a week and have been doing so for 10+ years (eventing, foxhunting, cattle work, you name it). So the best part of this experience was honestly the sheer indignation we got to laugh about afterward. Shortened Ride & Chaotic Start: The ride was advertised as two hours. Ours ran from 9:30 to 10:45, and that included waiting around because people showed up late. By the time everyone mounted, half the “tour” had passed, and the actual riding time ended up extremely short. We suspect they cut it short because the horses were fresh on the beach (which happens!) but with even two more minutes of instruction (“heels down,” “sit centered,” “how to hold the reins”), the beginners would’ve been much better prepared. Instead all we got was “pull to turn”. We were a group of eight total: five complete beginners, plus the three of us who ride daily. Nobody fell off, to their credit. The Horses: The horses themselves were kind, tolerant, and doing their absolute best despite everything. They are not dangerous horses. They could use better feeding, grooming, and tack, but they tried their hearts out. One poor horse even had a dried dead lizard stuck in his tail, so… that’s the level of grooming attention happening here. The Tack (Rusted, Ill-Fitting, and Downright Unsafe): This was the most concerning part: • Rusted tack • Kid-sized stirrups with no ability to adjust length • Turned stirrups • Ill-fitting saddles and bridles • Girths so loose you could fit a fist under them • “The cinch is loose.” // “The what?” • Rope halters tied incorrectly and tied to hitching posts unsafely (we run cattle and use rope halters every day, this wasn’t it) • Bits and bridles that didn’t remotely fit the horses • A browband that was too small to go over both ears and slid halfway down a horse’s neck 5-inch curbs were being used, absolutely inappropriate for novices. We saw one small rear because a beginner accidentally pulled too hard on the curb. This setup could very easily flip a horse. The Guides: Kind, But Not Competent Everyone was very nice. Great customer service, genuinely pleasant people. But horsemanship-wise? They didn’t know how to: • Adjust tack • Tie a rope halter • Tighten a girth • Use a saddle horn • Slow a horse • Put their heels down • Or actually ride One of the assistant guides openly said they had been riding for two weeks total. With a group of mostly beginners, this should be a 3:1 rider-to-guide ratio. As is, it felt unsafe. They pointed out plants on the trail, but none of us could hear a word, so the “tour” part didn’t amount to much. Environmental Hazards: Quicksand! We rode straight into quicksand deep enough to take horses up to their hocks before turning around. That should never happen with an experienced guide. Pace of Ride We specifically booked a morning ride hoping for a chance to gallop or canter on the beach. That did not happen, which was understandable with beginners in the group, but we also got the sense the guides themselves weren’t comfortable with that pace. If you want a more placid ride, book for the evening when the horses are more tired. Morning = fresh. The Good Stuff: • The scenery was truly stunning, absolutely postcard-worthy. • Horses were patient, forgiving, and clearly trying their best despite circumstances. • Staff were polite and friendly. • Helmets were offered (though we don’t think they were cleaned, and they definitely weren’t certified riding helmets, more like skateboarding helmets). Final Takeaway: For casual tourists with zero horse experience, the ride will probably feel fun simply because the horses and scenery carry the day. But from a safety, tack, and horsemanship standpoint? This operation needs serious improvement. We had a memorable time, but mostly because we had so much to gossip about afterward. Sorry to be those people xx
I thought it was a great deal as it was advertised as 3 1/2 hours of horseback riding. But the actual horseback riding was only about one hour, on top of that they charge $20 a person for a park entry fee. I did not see any park signs anywhere. It feels like I got totally scammed. The actual ride was very nice and our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. It’s a beautiful nature ride and they are involved in turtle conservation which is nice. At the end, they pressure you to buy very expensive pictures also
Views were beautiful. Didn’t get all I bargained for. They changed times on the excursion from morning till late after noon. By the time they got us together it was already getting dark. Disappointed how it was handled. Come to find out they had earlier rides too but probably over committed so our group missed out on the full adventure. I even met some people in Cabo and talked them into going so really felt badly about it afterwards. They had similar sentiment that we got robbed of time because of poor execution.
Most friendly staff. Also, they rescue turtles and when the eggs hatch, they get them back to the ocean. Very impressive!
The views, horses, and staff were all wonderful! I’m so happy to have chosen to do this during my brief stay in Cabo. Thank you!
This was a great experience! Highly recommend. The horses are very well trained and well looked after.
Great staff! Very patient with us. Thomas was gentle with us. A few in our group were nervous. He put them at ease.
Had a blast on this ride amazing country to see and even got to ride on the beach. Our guide was awesome she was a pleasure to talk to and out photographer was also great loved this excursion
The pick up was smooth. Activity was great and the team lead was quite patient. All the crew members were young ladies who enjoyed their work as volunteers. We had a great horseback experience and an education session on turtles. I will do it again but next time with an ATV or UTV ride combo.
Our whole family enjoyed this experience. They tailored the ride for ALL of our riding experiences. The ocean views were spectacular! The horses were well mannered and the opportunity to purchase lunch at the site was appreciated.
We booked the Pacific horseback ride for my daughter’s birthday, and unfortunately, it ended up being a very disappointing experience. For context, I’m an experienced rider and horse owner, so I had fairly reasonable expectations for safety and basic horse care — but this outing fell short on almost every level. We originally booked a 3:00 PM ride and were told we’d be picked up at 2:00 PM. However, on the day of, we received a last-minute message saying pickup would now be at 3:00 PM. What followed was a frustrating 90-minute journey: 30 minutes to pick up another group, 30 minutes waiting for them to wander back from the beach (clearly intoxicated), and another 30 minutes to the ranch. Once we finally arrived, we were greeted by three staff members who gave a rushed and minimal explanation of riding commands. Helmets were visibly filthy, stirrups weren’t adjusted for individual riders, and many of the horses had poorly fitting bridles. For anyone with even the slightest knowledge of horse care and safety basics, it was uncomfortable to witness — and for beginners, it was borderline unsafe. The ride itself was underwhelming. About 20 minutes were spent walking through a cactus field, another 20 on the beach (which was the only somewhat scenic part), and then 15 minutes back the same way. It felt more like a box being checked than a thoughtfully guided experience. Back at the ranch, the “refreshments” offered were $8 (USD) beers, while staff circled around encouraging everyone to purchase overpriced photos taken during the ride. Overall, it felt disorganized, careless, and not at all what was advertised. I wouldn’t recommend this tour — especially not for a special occasion activity. Bottom line: Do yourself a favor — book elsewhere. This was an embarrassing excuse for a horseback ride and a complete waste of what was supposed to be a special day.
will preface by saying I don’t remember the last time I left a review for ANYTHING. but overall, weird experience here. everybody working there were white and speaking French. where were the people from mexico? they were also physically pushing the horses around from the sides of their bodies instead of guiding them with a strap and saddle. they were also clamping metal clamps into their mouths to get them to move, and a lot of the horses seemed to dislike the clamping, obviously, which was frustrating the workers. only a few of them seemed experience with horses, but they didn’t seem very intentional. on our tour, two of the workers were talking loudly in french the entire time, making the experience not very relaxing. considering I’ve had better and more tranquil horseback riding experiences, I recommend spending $ somewhere else.
Rancho Carisuva legitimately offers one of the most genuine experiences in vacation excursions. The staff is lovely and so accommodating. The ranch is a legitimate ranch that focuses on conservation and protection initiatives for the endangered sea turtles. The horses are so well trained and easy to handle, even for us inexperienced riders. This was our second visit as we came in March '23. This 2nd visit was especially fun as after the horseback tour was over, we planned for a picnic lunch on the beach, which is an easy and quick walk from the ranch. It was a perfect outing and we will return again the next time we are in the Cabo area.
My daughter and husband went on the experience. The pictures were absolutely amazing. It was very quiet, not a lot of folks the driver was absolutely amazing that took us back-and-forth. He stopped and got us ceviche.
a nice experience on a huge costal property...take a hat for the sun and your phone camera fir shots in the beach and the beautiful whales jumping nearby.
The horses and people were fine. The views of the ocean were fantastic. We an had an unfortunate situation. Dogs on the beach spooked the horses. It caused the horses to into a frenzy and a lady fell off her horse. She needed to stop the tour and be attended to. Fyi, try to get a heads up if people are on the beach or not.
The experience was nice, overall. However we were told not to take photos. Then I purchased the photos taken by the hosts and was told they would email me the link. It’s been a week and nothing has arrived. I checked junk email. I reached out to them by email, phone, and social media and no one will help me. I can request a refund for the photos from my bank, but I really am so disappointed. This was a once in a lifetime experience for my kids and I.
The Horses were healthy and happy,,, the ride was exceptionally lovely, desert, dunes. And beach,,, the guides were really sweet too!! 2 gals from Australia!!! We saw 15 whales right off the beach!@! They were so close!
What a wonderful experience! There is nothing like driving from Cabo San Lucas to a wonderful little ranch on the beach, then horseback riding with experienced guides up to a vista where you could see the whales down below, then riding your horses down onto the beach getting even closer to pods of whales breaching! It was just lovely.
Absolutely recommend! Beautiful scenery and lovely guides. Alena was wonderful! No experience required and we felt comfortable the entire time.
Had a great time. Horses were gentle ones. Guides very nice and informative. My second time to This facility. Nice to see the countryside too!
The excursion was great and the ranch scenery was beautiful! The horses are clearly well looked after and the team onsite were all very pleasant. The ride itself only ended up being 45 minutes and felt very short so I was disappointed to have our time cut like that. We then had to wait 90 mins after the activity to be collected by our transport so it was a 6 hour round trip for 45 minutes
Our extended family went on this excursion (5 adults + 4 kids 14, 12, 10 and 6). Our group ranges in experience from owning and riding horses often, to hadn't been on in years! Our youngest kiddo with us hadn't ridden solo much and was a bit nervous. They did a great job meeting everyone where they were at and helping ensure a smooth trip. The views were BEAUTIFUL!! Absolutely gorgeous. We got a good deal on the photos for the group as well ($100 for the whole group). The volunteers were great and we had a great time. For us less experienced horse riders, the amount of time on the actual horses was perfect! The experienced riders could have gone longer, but it was a great time.
Molly and Clara were fantastic! My horse Domino was fantastic and even helped some other riders with their horses. My wife and adult daughter were very happy with their experience as well. I would definitely recommend this day trip.
Had Great ride. Was scared initially but with good staff it was so smooth. Enjoyed the time. Worth doing it. Horse was so pretty.
