Was such a life changing experience. We were educated on the turtle and the staff were just lovely. Knowing you are supporting a rescue that is making a difference was huge.

Itinerary
Experience one of Los Cabos' most meaningful wildlife encounters by participating in a baby sea turtle release along the beautiful Pacific coast. Your adventure begins with a scenic drive to an authorized nesting beach (about 30 minutes driving), where a Marine Biologist will introduce you to the fascinating life cycle of sea turtles, their incredible migrations, and the conservation efforts dedicated to protecting these endangered animals. During nesting season, thousands of sea turtles return to the beaches of Baja California Sur to lay their eggs. Once the hatchlings emerge, you'll have the unforgettable opportunity to participate in their release under the supervision of trained conservation staff, giving these tiny turtles the best possible start on their journey to the ocean. As the sun sets over the Pacific, you'll enjoy a truly memorable experience while learning how responsible tourism contributes to the protection of marine wildlife. This family-friendly activity requires very little physical effort and is suitable for participants of all ages.

We enjoyed this experience immensely! We had no idea what the experience would be like. We were surprised that we had to drive so far to such a remote area to do the release. We didn’t know the turtle eggs were dug up and moved to be protected until they hatched. We didn’t know that only 1 in 1000 hatched turtles might survive. We would do this again!
The drive is a little long from the starting point, but it’s absolutely worth it! The babies are adorable, and you can’t help but get invested in each one. Everyone is genuinely rooting for their little favorite to make it!
Wonderful experience doing the Turtle Release with Cabo Trek. They were in continuous communication with us until the very end, accompanied by an enjoyable adventure that we’ll never forget.
This was such a magical experience from start to finish! The crew with CaboTrek were fun and friendly as well as professional. Releasing the baby turtles on one of the most pristine beaches at sunset will be a memory I will never forget! Well worth every peso!
Amazing !!! We learned so much and the guides were incredible. Such precious babies
The turtle release experience was amazing! Cabo Trek crew was professional, knowledgeable, safe and a great experience for the money. What a fantastic opportunity to experience nature up close!
I came to the Cabo Trek Turtle tour with a friend that has mobility issues. She’s able to stand with crutches and walk short distances but for longer distances a wheelchair is required. We had looked online to see if the tour was “handicap friendly”, the day of the tour. The Google search said it wasn’t. We discussed it and decided to try anyways. We really wanted to enjoy the experience of being with baby turtles. It was worth asking them in person. We arrived easily finding their location. When we approached the front desk, one of the employees immediately told us that my friend would have accommodations. We didn’t even have to ask. We felt incredibly grateful. They were helpful with all aspects of the trip and the turtle tour, itself. The people that work for the sanctuary are great teachers. The work that they are doing to protect turtles is a gift. Thank you very much for helping my friend and myself enjoy your tour. I wish you all great success. Your kindness and inclusion was deeply appreciated.
We absolutely love Cabo Trek. Their sea turtle release program is done in such a way that truly helps conservation of the species. The marine biologists with Cabo Trek are super knowledgeable and informative. We love participating in this program and have done it 2 other times with them. Always wonderful!
Releasing our tiny baby Olive Ridley sea turtles and watching them race to the waves was an awesome experience! The guides were all knowledgeable and delivered their information in a fun way. I would recommend this for all ages, although there was a bit of a long walk through loose sand so it may not be for all abilities.
The tour was so much fun. It was the one thing I really wanted to do while in Cabo. The transportation was easy, the education made fun and interesting. The release itself was very special and great to be a part of. It was not just that the tour and the marine biologists knew their stuff. They truly care about what they do. And they care about their customers. We got caught in an a horrific thunderstorm on the way back. Returning to the drop off point, our van sat at the curb while we watched torrents of rain and water rushing down the street, reaching the sidewalks. Our driver offered to take us each back to our hotels since no one was getting an Uber in those conditions. It took an hour and a half to get to our hotel, but that level of service is above and beyond. We so appreciated the whole staff. Thank you CaboTrek!
It was really an amazing experience and I appreciate the love they have for these animals. The only part of it that I didn't like was going almost double the speed limit getting there on a non-barrier highway. At one point we were doing 145km/hr in a 90km/hr zone. That was both ways, so in the daylight and the dark. Pretty dangerous and I was quite uncomfortable. I think that's an easy fix and doesn't take away from the point of the experience, which was really cool. Just be prepared for a lot of sand walking.
Very educational. You get to see lots of baby turtles and learn about them as well. You see Thor nests, eggs and then help to release them to the ocean all with the beautiful back drop off the sunset!
Easily one of the best things I have ever done. Guides were engaging, enlightening and fun! It was so fun to release the baby turtles and participate in their conservation. Highly recommend. (Did not appreciate driving out of our way to pick up a couple at a hotel when the rest of the party paid for Uber’s to meet at the storefront.)
Thought the whole experience was great. In our group we had 2 seven year olds and they were very anxious to learn about the turtles and getting to release them. The presentations were great explaining everything about the turtles. I'm sure we all learned something new. Then going to the release was fun and the girls really got into naming their turtles. I know I enjoyed the experience and I'm sure the rest of our group did as well. Thanks so much for what you're doing.
This was absolutely a very surreal experience!! I found it to be very educational even though I thought I knew a lot about sea turtles already ! Loved every minute of it!! Will do this on every trip to Cabo!
We did 2 tours with Cabo Trek during our stay! The first being the El Arco Tour with Maria and Captain Fredy. We lucked out and were the only 2 on this tour and got so much time and questions answered by Maria. She is WONDERFUL and very knowledgeable. We had such a beautiful ride on the Pacific and learning about marine animals. The 2nd tour was the baby turtle release! We had Maria again as one of the guides as well as Aurora. What an AMAZING experience to help these marine biologists do their part in protecting the Olive Ridley turtles! Everything was so educational and we highly recommend both tours!
I have always told people to book direct thru Cabo trek, it was over sold. Small group was over 30 people with outside bookings. When it was time to do the turtle release. They said they did not have enough turtles and bowls. I never got a turtle to release, but they kept my money. Horrible avoid. Times have changed it is not the same. Charged me for a turtle release. Never got a turtle.
What a wonderful night!! Not only was the transportation, staff and guides amazing— our timing was blessed with an adult turtle coming on shore to hatch her eggs and we were able to witness all of it in addition to the turtle release!
We did the turtle release tour and were incredibly impressed with the guides and the experience itself. The staff are so kind and even refunded me a ticket when I accidentally purchased for 3 people instead of 2 at check in time for the tour. Would absolutely recommend! Great for all ages and groups.
11 out of 10 experience. They do get a little goofy in the presentation, but it’s all fun. Would do again.
Best way to support conservation. This group relies entirely on eco tourism with no other financial support. They do great work.
Such a special experience the team was full of incredible information and education about the turtles. A very unique experience and would do it again
Was here celebrating a friends 60 Birthday! Saw it advertised on Facebook and booked it. Such a great experience from the begging to the end. The education about the turtles was interested and told in a fun way. The beach was gorgous. What a fun memoryfor our group.
Was a very relaxing trip out to the ranch where the turtles are released with an attempt to keep them protected from predators until they’re entering the water.. the biologist were very informative and seeing the baby turtles up close was a bonus… was a great experience to be part of
Fabulous! The opportunity to introduce baby Olive Ridley baby turtles to the water was a once in a lifetime experience. We have seen a lot of wonderful things all over the world. This was one of the best.
Hands down the best tour I have done in all my travels. First and foremost… The staff is absolutely amazing. I had such a hard time navigating the roads and they went above and beyond to make sure I got to the meeting point safely. The educational part was so helpful and really teaches you about the importance of their work. The turtle release itself was a once in a lifetime experience. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
A chance to improve the hatchling survival rate from 1 in 1000 to 3 in 1000 is a significant opportunity and is very gratifying to be a part of.
The most amazing company the view it’s amazing The staf are very kind and friendly I really recommend this company I will coming back for the turtle release experience
There really are not enough wonderful words in the English language to describe this experience!!! From the communication and welcoming of the staff who go above and beyond, the education provided about the turtles and of course the amazing, incredible experience of releasing those little babies back into the sea against one of Gods most incredible sunsets is beyond words! It's a must for any age and a family memory your kids will never forget!
We did this experience with our 5 year old and 7 year old. It was a bucket list experience for sure and the highlight of our trip. We had some fun hiccups getting there but they went above and beyond making it work for us. We are so grateful and the pictures are a treasure.
Amazing experience with Cabo Trek. The staff was excellent. We met them at their office in Cabo. We left in a small group in a comfortable van and went to the beach. We had refreshments and learned a bit about the turtles. We walked out on to the beach at sunset and we were incredibly fortunate to release 300 baby turtles. I don't think this is common. Extraordinary experience for all!
From the marina, you’re driven by van 35 min on the Pacific Ocean side to Rancho Carisuva. We were offered soda, water or Powerade on the drive. Upon arrival, a marine biologist told the group (there are other vans of people who arrive there as well) about the turtles which I thought was interesting. There is a restroom there and lockers. When the sun was about to set, we walked quite a long ways to the beach. Everyone got a bowl and then a newly hatched turtle was placed in each bowl. They counted down and we all released the turtles at the same time. We watched as they made their way to the water. Bring a jacket or sweatshirt as it got chilly.
The whole group was cheering on each other’s baby turtle to make it to the surf and beyond. It was informative, touching, and fun!
We booked the baby turtle release and it was honestly one of the most beautiful and meaningful experiences we’ve ever had. Patricio and Juan, the biologists who guided us, were incredible. You can tell they truly care about the turtles and their work they were so informative, patient, and passionate the entire time. Watching our kids, hold the tiny babies, and release them into the ocean was magical and emotional all at once. It felt like a once in a lifetime moment and we’re so grateful we got to share it as a family. Thank you Rancho Carisuva, and a huge shoutout to Patricio and Juan for making the experience unforgettable. Completely recommend this tour it’s something you’ll remember forever.
The turtle conservation and release program was awesome! It was beautiful and so cool to be a part of the process. There was a bit of a hike through the soft sand, but it was well worth it!
The trip was well coordinated and organized. The ride from the meeting point near the Marina in Cabo was pleasant and felt safe and secure. The education from the marine biologist and the actual turtle release were both really amazing. One thing that kind of surprised me was that they told us to bring a re-fillable water bottle. But when we got there, they said to leave our packs and personal belongings in the van, and then offered everyone bottles of water. As an eco tour company, I think this was not a great idea. I think they should instead have ice water (possibly some with lemon or cucumber or something for flavour) and encourage us to refill our own water bottles, which we could easily have done. After the release, they again offered a plastic bottle of water to take away. Such a waste! And finally, in the van on the ride back to Cabo, we were offered a snack. This too was a really nice gesture, but could have been made so much more meaningful with just a little pre-planning. Instead of offering plastic wrapped chips, granola bars, and candies (probably from Costco or Walmart) why not get local fruit (oranges? bananas? passion fruit?) and pastries from a local bakery (or even from the grocery store) to share with your guests and support both local businesses and sustainability?
Excellent experience. Top notch operation from the beginning til we were dropped off it was a VIP feel. It was a fairly short walk to the ocean from their facility. It was at sunset which made it even better. We got to name our turtle and as we released it we watched as all of them made their way to the sea. We will be back.
Aurora our tour guide paid special attention to ensure everyone had a good experience. Juan the biologist provided a wealth of information about turtles and the importance of the conservation ranch in helping turtles. An amazing and heartwarming experience of nature.
An amazing day experience! The beach we released the turtles was amazing too! They take you in a van about 40 min away and bring you back. They provide drinks and light snacks.
This was a great experience by our driver Maria and the marine biologists (Juan and Vanu) who were knowledgeable and caring about the turtles. Suggestions I would make to make it an awesome experience: 1. Provide a written fact sheet pamphlet about the turtles. 2. Have the fridge magnet as a gift for guests to write their turtle’s name and date. 3. Have more souvenirs available (such as key rings and turtles). 4. Use Mexican pesos not US dollars as it is Mexico.
The turtle release was an amazing experience for our family! Our 4 year old enjoyed it and will be a lifelong memory. The guides were very knowledgeable, great with the kids and we were very happy to support their conservation project. Would highly recommend for all ages!
This was a great experience. The biologists were very informative and it was interesting learning from them before releasing the turtles. It was about a 45 minute drive to the ranch, where we waited for a while for the rest of the tour to join our group and saw their horses and got to enjoy the views from their property. Once the biologist gave his talk, we made our way to the beach and were given a baby turtle to release into the ocean just after sunset. Would do this again and recommend 10/10, thank you Juan, Vanu, and team! We left the marina around 4pm and returned around 7:30. Light snacks and water were offered- good for all ages but does require a little bit of walking in the sand, although a ride was offered for anyone unable to do the walk.
An amazing experience to release the turtle hatchlings! Sylvia and Juan, the marine biologists were excellent on the tour! Our driver was also great. We appreciated the snacks, drinks and bug repellent that was provided on the tour.
Overall satisfied with the activity. Roundtrip transportation from the marina to the ranch. Away from all the crowdedness of San Lucas so it felt very much personalized for us. Would definitely recommend to those who have a great affinity for wildlife and are looking to help make a difference for them.
We have been wanting to do this forever! We came to Cabo just for this activity and Cabo Trek did not disappoint! Beatriz in customer service was incredibly helpful and communicated via email and text, outstanding service! Our guide, Vanusa was very knowledgeable, helpful and professional. We greatly enjoyed our time with her! The ranch that had the release was very accommodating and well organized. A marine biologist gave an explanation of the turtles, how they reproduce and the conservation efforts. We walked to the beach at sunset, were given a bowl with a baby turtle and got to release multiple babies and see them safely reach the water in the hopes that it will survive and return to the beach in 15 years to lay eggs! Had an absolutely wonderful adventure! Worth the time and money! I highly recommend Cabo Trek! We will absolutely be back for more adventures with them in Cabo.
My husband and I had a great time releasing baby turtles on the beach. The guides were super nice and knowledgeable. We learned a lot about the life cycle of turtles and the importance of ensuring baby turtles reach the ocean safely. The beach was pristine. The sunset was beautiful. So happy to support eco tourism and the work of biologists.
Learning about sea turtles, supporting an amazing cause and the release of the babies! This experience exceeded our expectations. A must if visiting Cabo!
I took my parents and 7 year old to release the baby turtles to the sea. The perfection of the little tortuguitas was enough for the 5 stars but the hospitality and knowledge of Aurora, Juan and Patricio far surpassed the 5 star limit. Aurora was so helpful and patient with my daughter's limitations and Patricio took my father back to the meeting point on the ATV as he was having a hard time walking. Unforgettable and once in a lifetime experience.
This was one of the most wonderful experiences I’ve ever had! We learned so much about the turtles and their challenges from these amazing biologists! It’s impossible to describe the emotions I was feeling after releasing the babies, and watching them make their way to the ocean to begin their lives! Thank you so much to our fantastic guide Aurora!!!
