Definite let down from the advertised experience. All of the dune buggies were hanging on by a thread, on their last limb. Very loud and terrible exhaust fumes and tires that looked like they might not make the end of the excursion. We basically spent an hour driving in circles through the riverbeds and were extremely disappointed when we were told we weren’t allowed to drive the buggies on the beach… which was why we came in the first place. But we walked to the beach from our carts to watch other ATVs and side by sides race up and down the shoreline :(

Arturo and Alex made sure we were safe and the drive around was thrilling!
Wonderful experience from start to finish with Arturo Probably my best time in Cabos riding those Buggy off Road and near the Pacific. Will definitely come back
We had a wonderful time on our dune buggy adventure! About an hour drive from San Jose Del Cabo you will embark on a dune buggy through the desert and up to the edges of the Pacific Ocean!
Great tour guide very friendly. awesome experience overall. Amazing terrain. Equipment a little out dated. Overall good.
We had a an incredible day exploring the Cabo Desert in Dune Buggies. Arturo was also very knowledgeable about the local desert and made sure to give us great insights as well. It was beautiful, fun and insightful. I highly recommend.
Fun adventure. Very personalized service. We bought the photo package for $50 but never received the photos.
What a fun and affordable excursion! They made it so easy, supplying a huge list of hotels where they pick you up and drop you off. Miguel and his assistant were engaging and full of interesting facts and stories about the area and history. The buggies made us feel like we were filming a Mad Max movie - way more fun than ATVs. They made sure all our safety equipment fit and that seatbelts were secure. It was fun to drive through the dry riverbed and end at the ocean. Beautiful! We even saw whales spouting in the distance!
Cabo Dune Buggy was a sweet find on Viator. It was so helpful that they offered pickup at our hotel in San Jose de Cabo. The checkin was fast and easy. The buggies were fast and agile with attentive instructions and highlights given by our hosts. Our van driver back to the hotel, Miguel, treated us to funny stores and history of the area (not to mention shots of tequila!). We would recommend it to anyone who wants to travel off the beaten path and have some fun in the dirt and sand.
Did not get what I paid for the my me pay a full price just because I out smarted there system they had
Safe, fun, great guide. Real Buggys!, not quads or those boring carts. Highly recommend, one of the most fun things to do in the area.
Very good experience. The buggies are something different. The guides Felipe and Arturo were very attentive and made sure the experience was good.
What a joke! I should I have listened to few terrible reviews. Machine was broke over an hour of the first 90 min. Owner did not offer any compensation for us. Family of fours first time on dune buggies. We have atv and ranger experience. But these were junk. Guides were apologetic but the lack of mechanic on site lead to an early end of of our our. When we did drive it was in a river basin and couldn’t even go to the beach. This company is an unresponsive joke! Please do not waste your money here!
Our group had a great time with Cabo Dune Buggy. We did a private tour for 5 couples. Communication was great throughout the process. Transportation was on time and comfortable. We ride ATV and UTV at home, so we wanted a true "dune buggy" experience, and we got it! The staff was friendly and helpful. What a fun activity! Thanks, guys!
I really enjoyed learning about the local population, wildlife natural resources. The tour went at a decent pace and the facilitators were friendly.
What an amazing and exciting dune buggy ride in Cabo. We had an excellent tour guide - Arturo who led us through sand dunes, embankments and I had the thrill of going a little off trail, where they had to push me out. I would say this is the #1 attraction in Cabo. You can't beat the axel in the dune buggy which is very responsive. Needless to say, we loved it and would definitely repeat this adventure.
Would recommend to anyone. Great guides, learned some cool things about the area, and the dune buggy-ing was super fun! Really liked the course they took us on, and also glad we didn't disrupt the sea turtles' nests on the beach like other companies did.. All around A+ experience!
Arturo & Toño did a great job during our guided tour. They made sure we were having a good time and very informative about the canyon trails we were on. Keep up the good work guys!
We had great fun and it very educational of the local culture! A really fun desert experience. And it was TOO FUN!!!
I will echo the experience of others: 1. It is expensive for what you get. We used our Passport card for 2-for-1, but for 6 people it is still expensive, especially when you add on the $20pp “Park Entrance Fee” and optional $35 insurance per buggy. 2. The guides and team are very accommodating and friendly. 3. There was no pressure to buy the insurance, which I appreciated. I didn’t buy and we had no issues. 4. The carts are not in good mechanical condition. Both the steering and brakes are questionable at best. One buggy seemed to have front wheels that went in opposite directions at times. 5. The carts are not fast or powerful. If you have any previous motor sports experience you may be disappointed. 6. My kids noticed that the ATV / Razor tour had much nicer helmets. 7. Many people have commented regarding not riding on the beach. It’s obvious that 100’s of ATVs were on been on the beach the day we were there. I’d bet that these buggies don’t have the horsepower or performance for beach riding and they would simply get stuck in the sand. Sorry, but I’m sure it’s not about the turtles. 8. The track isn’t super challenging, but if you’ve never done any off road riding you’d enjoy it. 9. Didn’t ask about price of photos, I’d already spent $500. Suggestions for improvement: 1. Charge one fee per person, no extra charges. Include the photos. 2. They’re buggies, so perfection isn’t expected. However, safe tires, brakes and steering are not optional.
It was fun! I felt like an action movie star while driving it up and over bumps and hills. The guide was fun and energetic. I recommend everyone getting their own dune buggy. I didn't think I wanted to drive but then I did and it was awesome! Plus, the one buggy in our group that had two people got stuck in the sand briefly and seemed harder to drive.
Driving through the river bed and learning about the different animals that roam in the area. We stopped for a water break and got right back on.
Look, it kind of pains me to write this, because it was "fun." If I'm being honest, though, this outfit needs a lot of work. Arturo was an awesome tour guide. He was friendly, knowledgeable and flexible. That said, he had to spend most of his time being our personal mechanic. Here's the main issue, the dune buggies are in terrible (I mean absolutely decrepit) condition. The first dune buggy we were in (yes first) suddenly started losing power. No matter how much I held down the gas, it just wouldn't go. It eventually shutoff in the middle of the desert. Honestly, that was probably for the best, since the brakes barely worked. I learned quickly to keep a huge distance between cars, because barely anything happened when pressing the brake. After our original dune buggy croaked, they had us get out and hop into the dune buggy that the camera guy was driving. This worked for a minute until I realized that it wouldn't steer. I'm not sure what was up with the alignment, but it took every ounce of my strength (and I'm a fairly big dude) to keep the car from veering off the road. In fact, on one turn, the car literally got stuck with the wheels frozen to one side. This ultimately wasn't a huge problem since the engine stopped working altogether. Arturo had to jury rig the engine a few times to get it started, but it barely had enough power to make it back to home base. Bottom line, the cars are terrible and not even safe to drive. I like the team, but unless they spend some money fixing their cars I'll never go back.
This was a great experience. I happened to be the only one scheduled that morning because everyone goes in the afternoon. I had 5 personal guides. One buggy in front and 2 behind. One to take pictures. It was great. Reese, Naomi, Alejandro and Fernando were amazing. I would definitely recommend it and go in the morning. It’s not as hot. They also don’t let us ride on the beach because the turtles are laying there eggs. I liked that. But we did get to stop and go downs to the water.
The scenery was beautiful - the guide was very friendly - it was just very slow and not very exciting - our expectations were similar to the UTVs on offroad, but it was nothing like that.
Loved it! They picked us up at the resort in a private van and took us to their location about 20 minutes outside of town. We had a great guide, learned a lot, and appreciated that they wouldn't ride on the beach because it was sea turtle nesting season. (Others were not as responsible.) Would definitely do this again!
From pick up to drop off this was a great experience! Driver/guide was funny, caring and knowledgeable which made the experience enjoyable. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Cabo. We enjoyed the desert experience, and learned along the way. At all times felt taken care off and safe. If you want adventure this is the trip for you!
I loved the personal attention and that they care so much about the wildlife that you can’t drive on the beach.
The dune buggy experience was so fun. Danny Boy was a great guide and I felt safe at all times. This is important as a solo woman traveler. Everyone made me feel welcome and I had the best time!
It was a lot of fun and I felt safe and well cared for. Danny Boy was a great guide! Came back to hotel dirty with a smile! Thanks!
Good time ! Bring your GOPRO camera . Crew was great ! Dune buggies look a little beat but they are dune buggies. I checked all the tires on mine and they were in great shape ! As read in other reviews, I think they could have gone a little faster . Very wide wheel base so flipping one is next to impossible. We had our own headliner and goggles ( I ride off road motorcycles at home so brought my own eye pro ) 95% of time you will be ripping down a dry river bed . Plenty of twists and turns saw some wild animals. And then rode to the beach . Not on the beach but to the beach . No biggie. Our guide was super knowledgeable. Cold beer after the ride . You can go solo or have two person buggy great family adventure !
Maybe our expectations were higher than it should have been, but this was an average experience. I'll walk you thru everything. - making reservations was painless. Communication was great. - we arrived early and the employees were super friendly and eager to be of service - being early, and having an hour drive (we drove ourselves) we naturally had to use the facilities. There was no water to flush one of the toilets (you can only imagine the horror), and no toilet paper in the women's toilets. - We waited and watched them repairing one of the buggies - not a great feeling there - by putting on one of the rear struts. - upon checking in and signing a waiver, we were asked if we wanted to purchase insurance for $35 each. Then they showed us the list of what it will cost when something on the buggy breaks. Now, we purchased the insurance because we've had the experience of coming back from one of these tours to be shown something broke - likely it was already broken, but what do we know. - we then noticed that several of the tires were close to being bald and put on the wrong side - meaning that the tread pattern was backwards. A right tire was put on the left side. - the buggies are primitive, to say the least. - my husbands buggy died in the middle of the tour - part of the tour is going to a cow pasture and just going around in circles so that the photographer can take photos - one of the stops we were taken around the corner to look at a dead end and the guide pointed out cactus and trees to tell us about them. Very cool, but when we left, the guide that was touring us around was still tightening up the lug bolts on the tires. Not sure if we were suppose to see that or not. - going thru the river bed with really deep sand could have been fun, because we could have opened them up at this point, but with bald tires, we couldn't really do much. - when I was able to open it up and try to get some speed, the engine started making a huge racket and I though it was going to explode. - we did more circles around the cow pasture at the end for more photo opportunities. The employees are super friendly and the info they gave us on our rest stops was great. Really enjoyed that. Didn't enjoy the buggies at all.
We had a great time on a Cabo Dune Buggy tour! Our tour started with a courteous driver picking us up at our hotel on-time and in a clean vehicle. When we got to the Cabo Dune Buggy location the rest of the staff was also nice and great to work with. We ended up getting a private tour just because we signed up for a time/tour that no other people signed up for. I commend the company for not canceling on us. Our guide was Danny and he was a good guide and a lot of fun. These are not things that are criticisms, they're just things that I think people should know if they're planning to book a dune buggy tour w/ Cabo Dune Buggy. First, you WILL get dirty. Filthy, actually. It's dusty and there are no windshields. If you want windshields, cars are more your style than dune buggies. Second, there is some genuine danger in this tour, and safety precautions are minimal. I don't think there was any unnecessary risk, it's just that the activity is inherently dangerous. Third, the dune buggies are not the easiest to handle, and driving them was harder than I expected. They don't have power steering or anything like that, so if you don't have some arm strength, it's not going to work for you. With those things said, the ride itself was FUN! It was an adventure, and there was the perfect amount of danger for us. Nothing bad happened, and we had a great time. If you're willing to take the risk that is inherent in dune buggies, I highly recommend that you go on a tour.
First off, the staff were great and the dune buggies were fun. If you are only going to ride in a dune buggy and you are somewhat intimidated by it, this is the tour for you. The staff makes it very easy and explains everything well. Multiple stops so you can rest and wipe the dirt from your nose (there is a LOT of dirt-they provide masks and goggles-use them-you will need them). Our family is an adventuresome group. We like to go fast and explore. While the buggies do go somewhat fast, they are not super fast like we would have liked. The tour is basically riding on dry riverbeds and to the ocean and back with a few figure 8's in an open "dirt field" thrown in. While fun, it was not very exciting (and we did the same route a couple of times-so we didn't see anything "new"). Again, if you just like riding around in the dune buggies, then this is your trip. Also, one down side was they "encouraged" you to pay for the insurance ($100 per dune buggy) that was not really disclosed until we got there. We paid for it as we were sure what we might be charged for if something broke).
Everyone was super friendly and it was a lot of fun! Danny and Alex did great and taught us a lot about the area
A great experience. 2 hours of driving through desert and then on to the beach. The Company limited the beach use due to the sea turtles which was admiral whereas other Companies did not. The staff were very professional and the dune buggies were in perfect running order. We were picked up at our rental home in Pedregal and dropped off thereafter. A must do activity while in Cabo
This was our first dune buggy experience and I think it will be our last. My wife and I are from San Francisco and are in our 30s. We were hoping for an adventure and we sort of laugh about this little excursion now. They throw you in an old rust bucket with a helmet from WWII and tell you to hit the gas. Then you follow a line of buggys in the dirt and eat dust for 1.5 hours. I very much wish I had read some of the reviews on here but I'll add to the mix. If you are sensitive to loud sounds, BRING EARPLUGS! These things are like souped-up lawnmowers running at full tilt about 18 inches from your head. They are loud. Bring earplugs, don't get tinnitus. The ride out to the location is about 35 to 45 minutes from downtown CSL. The transportation they provided was shared and the family we were paired with did not bring masks, so the sign on the van saying "masks required" was sort of bunk. Bring your own buff or head cover. They provide cheap surgical masks which don't look very helpful for dust at all. I had an old balaclava from a go-kart place that I brought and I was glad I did. The helmets are not full-face helmets so plan for dust in your face. This company does not drive their dune buggys on the beach, their sign says it's to preserve the habitat for the wildlife. It was disheartening to see all the other dune buggy companies TEARING IT UP on the sand while we were there. Not sure what's going on but that was strange to see. Our vehicle itself died a few times during the trip. I am not a mechanic but something seemed pretty problematic when it was idling. The guides were always there to troubleshoot and help get us going again, but it was pretty weird to just have the thing die on us a couple times. A car in front of us did a gentle turn and one of their front tie rods fell off completely (they got to trade cars with the guides while they repaired it).
It was great!! I enjoyed it was glad I choose this instead of the ATVs. The entire staff were extremely friendly. Danny boy our guide was fantastic
Trip was safe and guided but the buggys weren't in great shape. I'm a size 10 and the regular seat belt was way too small but the extension was huge and wouldn't go small enough. Our buggy died (just shut off) twice so they traded our buggy for one of the guides. The photos they take were ridiculously overpriced and had a lot of repetitions but the guides were skilled and took us on a safe and fun route, though not particularly picturesque.
We had a great experience using Cabo Dune Buggies. My wife and I are in our 60's and felt very comfortable bombing around the desert hills and along the beach. Daniel and his crew were fantastic. We made 2 stops for water and an explanation of the surrounding flora and fauna. The route included driving over moguls, zig-zags with banked turns, and a flat area that resembled an oval race track for high speed driving. We will be back on future trips to Cabo.
Overall this was a fun and different experience, but there were a few things that could have been better and communicated well. My family and I travel to Cabo once a year and we have tried all kinds of experiences but this was the first dune buggy excursion for us. Things I wish I knew before: 1. How far away/ location of the experience - Answer: It's about 30 to 45 minutes outside of the downtown Cabo San Lucas Marina area and the location in which you will drive the dune buggies is on the pacific side. 2. If you are sensitive to loud sounds, BRING EARPLUGS!!! These buggies where INCREDIBLY loud which in a way was fun, as it added to the experience, but at the same time, they were just way too loud, coming from someone who owns a dirt bike and rides outdoor vehicles often. 3. Be prepared to pay more fees when you get to the location. While many of these fees are pretty "standard" for the area, I wish this was told to me earlier. There were fees for the following: - $10 to get into the park - $35 per car to insure the vehicle 4. They do not provide headsocks or buffs to protect your head/hair from all the other sweaty riders that came before you. Yes, they do have these for purchase for $8 each, but I wish someone told me ahead of time as I would have brought my own. 5. There are lockers there for you to lock up valuables. Highly suggest brining sunscreen. 6. They do provide water during the ride and beer after. Pros: 1. You get to go up a wash and get to experience the landscape Cabo in a way I have never seen. The steep cliffs and different types of vegetation was super cool to see. I wish I got a moment to stop and take a picture of one of the COOLEST tree's I've ever seen. It was quite a large tree growing out of the rock face with big exposed roots. 2. The tour guide was quite knowledgable about the area and shared some very interesting facts/stories. At each of the 2 break spots, while we rehydrated, he shared stories about the people who live in the mountains, the challenges they face, animals in the area and how certain cacti got their names. Cons: 1. It was incredibly difficult for me to get anyone to confirm what time they were going to pick us up from the hotel. If you have ever taken an excursion in Cabo, you know that while the experience might list a time, that is NOT the pick up time. Often, they have to pick up other guests or your hotel is farther/closer to the experience location. I sent 3 emails, 2 messages through trip advisor and finally a phone call before I got an answer, which btw was 30 minutes before the "excursion" event time. 2. How loud the vehicles where.... I really wish they provided hearing protection of some kind or let you know ahead of time. 3. We did not get to ride the dune buggies on the beach.... They said the owner wants to protect the baby turtles in the sand.... which I am all for, but explain to me why all the other ATV companies get to drive on that beach....... ? 4. To piggy back on bullet 3, there was no real place to enjoy what makes a dune buggy a dune buddy over another ATV. All in all, we did have fun, just wish a few things were a bit different or there was a better description/communication.
This experience was amazing! My boyfriend set up this experience and I was a little hesitant because I’m not much of a thrill seeker but this experience was amazing!! Arturo and his team were so knowledgeable and experienced. I would definitely do this again! Thank you Arturo!
This is fun for all! Be patient though, because you will be somewhat limited by the most inexperienced and cautious in your group. Our guide, Adriana, did a great job opening things up every once in a while to keep even the most aggressive adventure drivers somewhat happy. Make no mistake about it, these buggies pack some power, but are still fairly easy to control once you get the hang of no power steering : ). Enjoy!
Adriana and her team were amazing! It is always nice to see someone who throughly enjoys their job and does it very well, life Adriana. We felt very safe while riding the dune buggies because they lead and follow close by to make sure everyone is safe and doesn’t get stuck. It was a lot of fun and very thrilling with lots of great views of the wildlife and ocean. You get to stop right along the ocean shore and enjoy breathtaking views. Would totally do again if we ever visit Cabo again. 10/10
Everybody that worked there was very nice and we really enjoyed our day riding on the trails. You can’t ride on the beach because of the sea turtles but you can go right along the beach and the trails we’re awesome.
This was our second time during this excursion and it delivers. It is two hours of desert, dust and off-roading. The buggies are rugged and battle proven.
Went on this trip with my dad, Adriana was a phenomenal tour guide, always nice always willing to help. She always checked to make sure everyone was having fun and explained alot about the history of the region pre modern era. Learned a lot of interesting stuff and had a lot of fun ripping around the desert in dune buggies. Ignore all of the reviews about not being able to ride on the beach. Its sea turtle hatching season and theyre trying to be responsible in not killing baby turtles. Would definitely ride again!
This was great. First time on a Dune Buggy had a blast with my brothers. Ride was about 1:45. Stopped at the beach took some pictures. They where very professional with everything. You will definitely get dirt on you. If you like the sun, speed, and a little dirt make sure you book!
we where their 3 days ago They will not let you drive on beach ,its fine but they dont need to falls Advatise it was ok we did not see anything exiting Adriana was very good and healp full great service car service dooe to door THEY WILL NOT LET YOU DRIVE ON BEACH
This was a ton of fun. Our group was two adults and four teenagers in 3 buggies, everyone got plenty of driving time and as I’m sitting here a day later the whole family is still discussing driving techniques. Definitely more fun for the driver than for the passenger but a bit too expensive to get everyone his/her own vehicle.
