Absolutely smashing. I would do another tour with Becky in a heartbeat. Her academic background in History combined with her storytelling makes this a fascinating tour. She shares nuances that make all the difference. I loved it.

We have recently decided to learn more about London - a city we live in and thought Women working in London would be interesting and it was Fantastic. Emily met us on time and there were only four participants. More like a private tour. Emily was fun, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and explained comprehensively. She was also able to listen and expand and answered all of our questions, of which there were many. It was quite long in duration, but was worth it and gave us a good excuse to stop in Spitalfields Market afterwards. Some of the history I knew roughly but to have it expanded and make it pertinent to the lives we live today was great. I would recommend Emily and the tour 100% and will look to see what other tours we can do.
Excellent tour of London East End, seeing many hidden sights and hearing interesting stories and historian facts. Becky is so knowledgeable and is a brilliant story teller. Highly recommend this tour.
Wonderful tour, very informative and well presented focussing on lots of less known figures and facts. Easy to find meeting point and reasonable pace and distance.
What a fabulous tour! Such a privilege to be guided by Becky with her passion and extensive and accessible knowledge of the history of women in London. I have been through some of these areas before but the tour brought it alive - thanks so much Becky
A truly fascinating and highly recommended tour that brings to life the untold, often-forgotten stories of the remarkable working-class women who helped shape the East End of London. We visited the places where these women fought to improve working conditions and build a safer, more equal world. Our guide Becky was knowledgeable and engaging, bringing these extraordinary women's stories to life in a way that was both easy to follow and thoroughly enjoyable.
Enthusiatic, feminist, inspiring and very well researched!
Walking through a part of London new to me and only hearing stories and histories of women is my new favorite thing. The tour is well researched and expertly told. Women's stories need to be shared again and again and Women of London is doing their part towards this goal.
Within 10 minutes of the start of this tour I knew it was going to be fantastic and I'd be signing up to do all the tours! Becky was a wonderful guide for our group including my 19 year old daughter. So much fascinating detail delivered in a really accessible way - Becky knows her stuff but more importantly she is a great storyteller with the ability to pick out just the right amount of detail at each spot and then answer follow-up questions when you want to know more. What a wonderful way to spend a damp drizzly March Sunday morning. Highly recommend.
Excellent! Inspiring stories! Historical context and information re each woman featured. Engaging guide! Would book again!
Emily was a superstar guide. She was knowledgeable, interesting, professional and fun. She cared a lot about her work and the history and women she told us about.4 friends and we all rated this experience as a top tour we have ever done. Highly recommend!
Another great tour from Women of London (this was our second). Getting away from history that revolves around politicians, royals, religious and business types was a refreshing change. Also basing the tour in the East End gives it a much more diverse focus, reflecting that part of London. Becky again provided an informative commentary with poignant observations. We highly recommend the Women of London tours.
Very informative, very personable Becky our guide. Highly recommended. Much overlooked history to be learned.
We were glad to find Women of London tours to fill in the gaps left by most tours that primarily focus on men. Our guide, Becky, has a passion for women's history and told us well-researched and detailed stories that brought several fascinating women to life as we walked through the East End. Highly recommend.
Knowledgeable and very enthusiastic guide, really enjoyed the stories about different East End women, some more famous than others. Recommended!
This is the second walk I've done with Becky & I plan to take all 6 tours! Becky is so knowledgeable & shares her knowledge in a v interesting way. Cannot recommend too highly. We loved the Walk
Excellent tour! One of the best I did as the guide is very knowledgeable and at the same time makes history very lively and accessible also for teenagers.
Learning about the women of East London with Emily as our guide is one of the best things I've done in London in the last two years! We gained a fascinating insight into the lives of many women who played crucial and sadly often overlooked roles in women's emancipation, social and political reform and in numerous other ways, all put into the context of the ever-changing and ever multi-faceted social fabric of this wonderful city. Emily was extremely indulgent of and responsive to all our many questions and ponderings. I highly recommend this tour and would like to thank Emily for putting her heart and soul into bringing the stories of these women to life in the streets of East London.
Fascinating from start to finish with stories woven at a quick pace and packed with references to important events, political reform, social change and lots more. Emily was really engaging and extremely knowledgeable.
Enjoyed this great tour with WoL! Nice group and nice conversations. Winter made for a smaller group but that was also an opportunity. And not only got to see some spots associated with fascinating women in history, but doing a walking tour allows one to see more than you might usually see. As a historian of women I seek out tours like this but I highly recommend these tours to anyone interested in learning more about London too.
Loved the Working Women of the East End tour. Well researched with recommendations for additional information. Becky easily handled questions & added timeframes to help connect to more well-known events of London. Especially nice to see images of some of the women. Interesting to see how the area has evolved.
I took the tour on the morning of International women’s day as a way of celebrating and it was the perfect choice. Emily was an amazing guide who really managed to keep the group entertained and interested throughout. And her passion for the women honoured showed through wonderfully. Couldn’t recommend more.
Emily was fantastic as a guide who provided lots of information and took us to many places without feeling rushed We have only positive feedback
Our guide Emily was very knowledgeable and engaging She included a tremendous amount of information and places to teach us about without feeling rushed or overwhelmed
This was a superb tour. It was so interesting hearing about inspiring individuals and their stories, the culture of the society in which they lived, all linked to the different places we visited. I felt both inspired, shocked and moved by our Guide Becky's thoughtful, well-crafted, intelligent and vivid story-telling which helped us look beyond simple wall plaques and gave us deeper insight into the people and realities of the time. She had such depth of knowledge, but made it so accessible. I thought she, and the whole experience was brilliant - I cannot recommend this highly enough!!!
Emily was a knowledgeable and friendly guide, able to clearly explain social issues, immigration, economics, and more. It was just the right blend of walking, looking, and listening. Highly recommend. Thank you.
Over 2.5 hours we immersed ourselves as Walking Women in the lives and stories of the Working Women of the East End. So many amazing stories of community organizers, magistrates, trade unionists avant la lettre etc. who trailblazed the way for general voting rights, bodily autonomy, labour rights. Learned so much from our guide Becky, who amplified the voices and gave them agency and dignity.
Becky is terrific and this tour is highly informative—loved it!! Becky covers a wide range of working women, both rich and poor.
Emily was super informative, brought us to very interesting places with interesting history attached to them.
Fascinating insight into the (vital) part women played in helping create London. Brilliant tour and 100% worth your while. Highly recommended.
I bought this a birthday present for my partner and we had a brilliant time. Becky was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and the tour was perfectly judged in terms of walking distances and points of interest. We had, perhaps shamefully, little prior knowledge of the history Becky spoke about, which made it really worth while.
I did the Working Women of East London tour with Emily a few days ago. We learned so much about these incredible women and got to see parts of London that I would have never found on my own. It was a lovely way to spend an afternoon, and Emily was a fantastic guide. I wish I had time to do the other tours!
Highly recommend. Excellent guide, well researched itinerary. Tour positions women's contributions to the labour movement in wider context with reference to key local figures. Tour includes a toilet break.
Fabulous tour, Emily was so passionate about her knowledge & it was so interesting. Lovely little tea break in the middle.. thoroughly recommended.
Emily was a really passionate and knowledgeable tour guide, and she went out of her way to make sure we got a lot out of the tour. It was a really fascinating exploration of the lives, professions and politics of women of the East End, and Emily did a great job of setting these in their context while also drawing links to present-day London. Highly recommended!
This was truly one of the best walking tours I’ve been on. Becky made the womens stories come to life as we explored the neighborhood. Theres a great pit stop in the middle for restrooms and coffee or tea, and our guide was SO knowledgeable about the community and it’s incredible history. Highly recommend for all people- not just women!
I attended both the Westminster and East London tours and I found both experiences extremely interesting and fascinating. Not only because I learned a lot (sadly - no one's interested in the history of women - unless they are queens of course), but because both guides were able to make it reletable. I highly recommend them!
We spent a grey Monday afternoon walking round the East End. Our guide was so impressive and she brought history to life in sharing stories of the amazing women who lived and worked in this area. We learnt so much and our concentration never lapsed. Thanks so much!
Becky was extremely knowledgeable and fun. Nice walk and a lot to learn. Highly recommend this tour as it is different.
Highly recommended tour! If you are looking for a unique tour which looks into untold stories, some forgotten or untold, while exploring an area less known for tourists, choose this one. Becky is knowledgeable story teller and we enjoyed ourselves greatly. I’ll be looking for her other tours next time I’m in town
We loved this tour! Becky our guide was very knowledgeable and really brought to life the stories of the unstoppable women of London’s East End. The perfect tour for us to celebrate sisterhood and women's wisdom and power!
It was so interesting and our guide was very knowledgeable learnt a lot about history of the east end of London and the powerful working class women who helped changed the class society for women and make working life a safer more equal field our guide Emily was brilliant .I highly recommend this tour
Finally, finally we are hearing about the women in history. And not just as an aside or as victims or as entitled companions. Shame on us for not recognizing valiant efforts during some terrible times by strong women. Thank you, Emily, for a delightful time.
We had an excellent morning discovering the history of women in London that is often overlooked. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and thoroughly answered all of our questions. A tour with Women of London is a must for us on every London visit!
What an amazing walking tour, enthusiastically delivered by Becky. Well researched and very informative, an excellent way to spend a morning/afternoon. We visited parts of London I would never have gone to, and ending in Spitalfields Market was excellent. I would thoroughly recommend this tour and hope to join them again.
What a fascinating and thoroughly enjoyable walking tour this was. We learnt loads and Charlotte our guide was really knowledgeable and engaging. She brought to life the incredible - and often little known - women of the area. Even the women I was aware of I learnt new things about and came away feeling inspired. Can't wait to book another tour!
Becky was so passionate and knowledgeable talking to us about some amazing East End women. I found the tour so interesting and it was lovely learning about some more unknown historical stories. Would highly recommend.
It was a fascinating & stimulating walk with this excellent group . Full of information & a great pace including a coffee stop at a historic site . It left me wanting to learn more about the role women have played in history. Also to do the other tours available.
Thank you very much Becky for this interesting tour. My mother and sister joined the East End tour and learned about the struggles and achievements of a variety of women. For example about Britain's First Feminist Mary Wollstonecraft & the English textile designer and business owner Anna Maria Garthwaite! Highlight: the old bath houses It was a pleasure to escape the busy center and to experience the beauty of the East side of London. Becky is very attentive and you can tell she has more knowledge than she can fit in this walking tour. Book your tour!
