Our tour guide, David, was cheerful, engaging, and provided wonderful information about the area history, the things to watch for on our tour, and a very good background of the Beefeaters. Our Beefeater guide, Garry, is a very impressive man. He is very proud to have pledged his allegiance to the Country and to the King. Fabulous, very pleasant man with a good sense of humor, and love of family; surprisingly very humble for a man with such a background and status. The self-guided tour through the Tower could take hours - many things to look at and learn about - as well as the Crown Jewels of course.

Itinerary
Your tour will begin just in front of the main entrance, where you will be given a short introduction to the history of the Tower of London before being led in to meet the Beefeater dedicated to your small group. From stories of traitorous plots to tales of royal scandal, the guards of the Tower of London will bring this attraction to life before your eyes. Your small group will also enable you plenty of chances to ask questions and interact directly with the Beefeater as they lead you through this ancient fortress.
After your tour, continue to discover the Tower at your leisure including a visit to the infamous Bloody Tower, a tour of the old Royal Mint, or a visit to the home of the stunning Crown Jewels. Because of our early morning start time, you will be among the first visitors into the Tower and will have the opportunity to explore without the usual large crowds. At times an important stronghold, a magnificent palace, and an intimidating prison; the Tower of London is a must-see attraction for those interested in British history. Don’t miss out on the opportunity for a guided tour with those most familiar with it – the Beefeaters.

The Beefeater who talked with us was absolutely charming. He provided a lot of history and information on what can be seen in the various parts of the Tower complex. I could have listened to him all day if the weather had been warmer. There is so much to see here. Not sure we will get to all of it.
Our guide was with us for a while outside the tower at different points giving us some of the history and explaining some of what we were going to see. He did a great job. Inside the entrance, the Beefeater took over the rest of the tour. The Beefeater was great. He tried to act like he was cranky and strict, but he was actually really good with the kids in the group and he was very funny. He provided a lot of great information about the history as well. He also gave us good directions as far as good places to check out when we were done with the tour.
David Norton was our guide with immense knowledge and a great sense of humor about the tower and surrounding buildings.
We took the yeoman warder tour with Yeoman Warder Scott Kelly. He gave an exilerating, exciting and very interesting tour. We saw his wonderful relationship with both: a couple of the Tower of London Ravens as well as a couple of resident squirrels. Also, he has a large quantity of super intriguing historical stories of the comings and goings of the various residents of the tower over the last 900 to 1 thousand years. Thanks again Yeoman Warder Scott Kelly.
Quite a lot of standing about at the beginning listening to first guide although very interesting and have your questions ready
First, our guide Sophie, was great. She was funny and informative. She was right at the meeting spot early and easy to find. She was easy going and made our time with her enjoyable. For the actual tour, it was cool seeing them opening the gates but I would have appreciated more information on what the tour entailed. Sophie gave us an overview of the Tower’s history, took us to the yeoman who then took a large group (multiple tour groups) to watch the gate opening. Then we were on our own. I expected a bit more interaction with the Beefeater and maybe more interaction inside the tower. All in all it was just an ok “tour”. The interactive map that they give you access too is not good. Hard to figure out where you are and no location titles until you click on the overview button.
Meeting the beefeater was great. She was very personable and gave us good insight into her functions. Most of the tour was self-guided.
Amazing Experience. Friendly Beefeater and well knowledgeable tour host. Definitely was a blast. Much love from the states! 🇺🇸
Our City Wonders tour guide Michael, and our Beefeater guide AJ were both amazing. Full of information, fun facts, and humor. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and would recommend adding it for anyone who thinks they'll just go it on their own.
Excellent tour. Tour guide was exceptional and the Beefeater conversation was outstanding. We were also able to go through the white tower.
Our guide Aaron was wonderful and had so many bits of information and history to share with us while walking the streets. We saw wonderful sights while walking the Royal Mile
Yeoman Harding was an awesome orator of the Tower, bringing the history alive and connecting it to the current times all while engaging the crowd and personalizing it to everyday village life!
Terrific way to see the Tower of London, hear about its history and tour the Crown Jewels. Our Beefeater was funny without being corny, smart, warm and charming. I’d absolutely recommend this tour.
Our guide, the Beefeater, was charming, interesting and informative. He made the trip memorable and helped us understand what is available to see in this incredible compound with so much history. Definitely recommend!
We paid 246.00 for this excursion. We downloaded an app to our phones and used our own earbuds. The guide met us at the gate, gave us some information and turned us over to the Beefeater for the key ceremony. After that we were on our own with the app. What exactly did we pay for? We could have bought our own ticket to the tower and key ceremony for about 70.00, which comes with the self guided map, so 140.00 total. We paid an extra hundred dollars for nothing.
We had a fantastic time on our Tower of London tour with the Beefeater meet and greet! Our City Wonders guide, Rob, was excellent—knowledgeable, personable, and able to answer all of our questions along the way. The Beefeater experience was such a fun and memorable addition, and the entire tour was well organized and informative. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and felt it was a great value for the experience. Highly recommend this tour, and especially Rob, if you’re visiting the Tower of London!
Tour guide easy to find and personable. Beefeater Andy made it informative and fun. Excellent visit !!
Nice tour, knowledgeable guide, loved his dry humor. Beautiful weather, fantastic history there. Crown Jewels amazing.
Rob was awesome!!! He combined the perfect amount of humor with his knowledge of the Tower of London and the Crown Jewels. We would highly recommend Rob and the tour to everyone.
Our guy never showed up. So they called someone in to take us through very quickly. When you eliminated the time spent Beefeater, our Guy talked probably for only approximately five minutes. She said she was not rated appropriately to go in with us in any of the buildings. And we are rushed through on a 45 minute tour in less than 20 minutes. Very, very disappointing.
Great experience with knowledgeable guide and meeting tge Beefeater was outstanding. After the Beefeater meet & greet, you have ample time and freedom to walk the tower and enjoy yourself
We had a lovely, fun and informative time at the Tower. The many reminders about the meeting place had me worried, but we found our guide in plenty of time and all worked out. Our guide Joe was very knowledgeable and witty - he spoke with us before entering the tower, brought us inside to our yeoman Andy. Andy was wonderful and gave great insight into life as a yeoman. We explored everything at the tower on our own. September was a great time as it was not very crowded. These tours are a bit pricey but worth it.
Very informative. We enjoyed hearing the history of Beefeaters and the history of the Tower of London. An enjoyable experience.
Lisa was the Beefeater who was our guide. She was wonderful and refreshing. So full of information and kept the group engaged the whole time with little effort. Number 422 rocks!
We very much enjoyed the Tower of London. The first hour was full of great detailed information by our guide as well as the Beefeater. It was lovely to learn so much about the yeoman Warders of the tower. So much history found in the heart of London. Completely recommend this tour to get in early before the crowds arrive.
Tower of London is an amazing place with lots of amazing stories. enjoyed meeting a beefeater and hearing their stories
Too much self guidance is needed on this tour. They should have told us to get audio. Also, I have done a full tour before and the beef eater gave greater details of sites. Our guide took us past the traitors gate with no input of its purpose which I believe is a highlight.
A cliché, but it's a must do when visiting London. We took one of the guided tours by one of the Yeoman Warders (Garry 420) which was excellent.
This was not much of a tour for $100. There was a lot of talking and not touring. It would have been great to have a tour of the grounds.
The information that was sent to me about the meeting point was NOT the actual meeting point . We were lucky to find the group close to the entrance otherwise we would’t have been able to enter the Tower since the tour guide had the list of tourists with himself . The tour guide also complained about this happening very often . It was stressful running back and forth worried about loosing our tickets . II payed more the $400 for this . Very disappointing!! It was a good thing that we arrived with plenty of time to waste it looking for our group. I also tried calling the contact number posted in the information sent by Viator but nobody ever answered . Besides that the tour was good .
It was great and learned so much. Gary was the Beefeater for our tour group and he was informative and amusing at the same time. So much to see and take in, the time after the tour, finish it off perfectly!!
Tour guide didn’t check-in with Tower of London group reservations ahead of time so they had no record of our group (total of 23 ppl). We were left standing outside in the rain, and when she finally got it sorted, we could not wait for the Beefeater which she mentioned had never been scheduled.
Yeomen Warders of His Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress the Tower of London and Members of the Sovereign's Body Guard of the Yeoman Guard Extraordinary, the official title of the Beefeaters. The tour starts with an outside tour, I’m guessing it was about 10 minutes at which time we went inside and the Viator guide went on their way. We (small group about 16 of us) then met with our Beefeater who gave us history and information about the Beefeaters. The small group allowed us to have more personal contact with Beefeater, he was able to answer all our questions, talk to everyone individually and everyone was able to get pictures with him. I noticed outside our roped off area where we spoke with Beefeater , there was a group of around 50 people probably receiving very similar information. After meeting the Beefeater we were all off on our own to see the Crown Jewels and go into the tower
We very much enjoyed the Tower of London. The first hour was full of great detailed information by our guide as well as the Beefeater. It was lovely to learn so much about the yeoman Warders of the tower. So much history found in the heart of London. Completely recommend this tour to get in early before the crowds arrive.
Learn about the early history of London from your tour guide and the Beefeater. This was our second visit across a decade and still enjoyed the tour. We went early so avoided big crowds and queues. Would like to have stayed longer to explore but we had other commitments. You won’t be disappointed.
Our tour was fabulous, Joe was so personable and witty. Our Beefeater guide Andy was superb! Highly recommend booking this ❤️!
Andy was extremely knowledgeable about WWII and the Churchill museums! We learned so much more than we would have just listening to the audio tour!!
Well worth tour price! Our City Wonders tour guide Natalie was top notch, friendly, funny and knowledgeable! Once we were inside the tower she handed us off to a brilliant Beefeater where we had a “private audience” in a sectioned off area of the grounds
If it’s your first time in London the Tower and Crown Jewels are a must. Nothing like seeing them in person. TV doesn’t do the Crown Jewels justice.
Loved the Beefeater portion of the tour! He was very informative. The Crown Jewels were stunning. Enjoyed the whole tour immensely
Louise was great! She provided so much history before we Met with a Beefeater. You learned about how they became, what it takes and the history of being one. After you meet them you’re exploring Tower of London on your own. We were pleasantly surprised there was no line for the Crown Jewel. We spent a good 7 hours there exploring every tower. So much to see there and so much history. It a must do!
Our tour guide, Tom, was engaging and added to our experience at the venue. Really interesting history. Well done!
The tour was excellent.. our guide Jo was great & we loved the Beefeater David. He was excellent & very entertaining & informative. We enjoyed it all very much.
The Tower of London itself was fascinating and we really enjoyed visiting, but I did find the description of this particular tour a little unclear. Based on the booking description, I had understood that we would be touring the Tower with a Beefeater/Yeoman Warder and learning about the history of the Tower as we walked around. In reality, our guide Louise gave us some very interesting historical background before we entered, and we then had a meet-and-greet with a Yeoman Warder, who explained more about their role, traditions and how they are selected. This was interesting, but it wasn’t actually a guided tour of the Tower itself. Once inside, we were essentially left to explore independently. An audio guide is available, but at an additional cost. As we were leaving, we noticed other groups being taken around the Tower by guides who were explaining the history and significance of the different areas, which was much closer to the experience I had expected when booking. To be fair, Louise was knowledgeable and informative (really liked her) and the Yeoman Warder meet-and-greet was enjoyable. My main issue was simply the lack of clarity about exactly what the tour included. I had specifically wanted to learn more about the Tower’s history rather than do a largely self-guided visit, so I probably would have chosen a different tour had I understood the format beforehand. If you’re happy exploring the Tower independently and like the idea of meeting a Yeoman Warder, you’ll likely enjoy this. But if you’re looking for a guide to accompany you through the Tower and explain its history as you go, I would recommend checking the tour description carefully and choosing one that specifically includes a guided tour inside
The meeting point was easy to find. The guide was knowledgeable and easy to understand. She turned us over to our Beefeater for the remainder of the tour.
If you book with a tour guide and Beefeater, it takes about an hour, then you are free to roam the Tower on your own. I was there for the Tudor history particularly and to see the Crown Jewels, but seeing the ravens free to roam was a surprise and an absolute delight. Great time all around!
Absolutely amazing experience at the Tower of London! The Beefeater talk was really interesting and informative, and all of the guides were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. There was so much fascinating history to learn about, and the whole experience was really enjoyable from start to finish. Would definitely recommend a visit! 🏰✨
A little confusing at the start as the meeting point is not sign posted states group ticket office , when there is not a GROUP ticket office . However , once found rep perfect experience very knowledgeable friendly and funny
It’s very crowded in the jewel room but very informative as to who wore what crown and where the jewels came from
