Gabi was a wonderful guide, teaching us about the history of the East End while showing us some amazing art!
Laura was a knowledgeable and entertaining guide. We learned so many unique facts about the area and the street art. Definitely recommend.
Ava was our guide. She was an excellent guide. She has a deep and thorough knowledge of street art, on a historical basis, as an artist and street artist who lives in the community, and as someone who has a podcast connected to street art. She engages well, is open to and answers all questions, and had good energy for the entire 2 hours of our tour. It was a pleasure and education to take the tour with Ava.
So happy to have taken the tour. We learned so much about street art, its forms, styles, artists, etiquette, etc. Brick Lane is the epicenter of street art. Eva (sp?) our tour guide was excellent. Highly recommend!
Laura was animated and passionate about her subject, differentiating between graffiti and street art, and explaining its cultural and political significance. She knew many of the artists involved and had a number of personal anecdotes. A well-worthwhile tour, exploring an area of London which we might never have done.
Sean was great. Super enthusiastic, engaging and full of knowledge.
Great tour with sensitive information about street-art, it's social and political components. We can only recommend!
Excellent, knowledgeable and passionate tour guide, Ava. We really enjoyed our tour!
Josh gives you an excellent education in street art from graffiti to murals. We learnt so much and are now spotting things around the streets that we would never have noticed before. Thanks Josh
An excellent insight into street art and graffiti art in London. Fascinating art work described in-depth by our guide . Very engaging and informative for all ages
Eva is an excellent guide, knows many interesting facts about the history of the area, and street art of course! I can absolutely recommend this tour for people interested in getting to know a place beyond just its shops and pubs.
The tour was phenomenal. The tourguide provided the history and evolution of street art. Understanding its components. She also had a strong knowledge of the city and the influences to the art in each region. We even saw some street artists making art live! What a good time while getting your steps in. LOL
Very informative. He new his stuff and he’s very passionate.
Excellent tour. Eva, the guide, was great. She was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and friendly and took us to some great art. That area of London is just fantastic, with the mix of immigrant communities, arts and history. Really worth the trip
Very educational tour! Laura is an enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide! Really enjoyed seeing much more than we we have without a guide.
I took Josh's street art tour on August 15th, and it was genuinely exceptional. From the moment we started, his authenticity and passion for the subject were evident. Josh doesn't just know street art—he lives and breathes it, and that infectious enthusiasm elevated my entire appreciation of the medium. What made this tour stand out was the perfect pacing. Josh gave us plenty of time to take in each piece and really absorb his insights without ever feeling rushed. I actually wished we had more time to explore with him! He delivered what felt like a true masterclass, tracing the evolution of street art from its roots in New York through Brazil, Chile, and into London's contemporary scene. His depth of knowledge across cultures and movements was impressive. Beyond his expertise, Josh is remarkably approachable and easy to engage with. He made everyone in the group feel welcome and heard. If you're considering this tour, I highly recommend it and I hope you get Josh. He's the kind of guide who doesn't just show you things; he helps you see them in an entirely new way.
We were so lucky to have Josh as our tour guide as his passion for all things street art was really addictive!! Josh was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about his craft that I would highly recommend this tour.
Really good tour, very interesting facts. The tour was meant to last 2 hours but only lasted 90 minutes, was fine for us but may not be what others were expecting. Really enjoyed the experience anyway as had never explored this part of London before. Would recommend!
Gaby is a great guide, many thanks! He's passionate about street art and graffiti, walking us through the history, character and vibrancy of the area through artists' lenses. It's also a great way to discover some characterful old streets, arts and murals that you can later return to, such a colourful and vibrant area. Well worth it.
We had a very interesting street art walk, with Gaby, and he really made the history of street art in London Come alive. The Day after we walked around the area, and our eyes suddenly caught a lot of art in the streets. Thank you!
It's a long walk over uneven walkway. Older folks may want to think twice. I'm 80 and walk three miles a day. Gabby did a great job and knew his street art.
Great tour and great tour guide. I was one of those that believed graffiti artists should all be locked up. My mind had been opened up to understanding the art, its culture and challenges. No hesitation in recommending tour.
Josh and the folks at Alternative London took me and our group on a phenomenal street art tour around East London today! We all met up at an easily accessible location under the I Goat statue, where Josh introduced himself to us as our tour guide. As he led us through the intricately thought-out tour path, his friendly demeanor and affable sense of humor illuminated each and every one of the fantastic street art pieces we visited. His deep, developed knowledge of street art not just in London but writ large allowed each of us, no matter how well versed we were or were not in street art culture to appreciate the long and storied history and culture of the very street art we were lucky enough to witness. At the end of the tour, Josh did an outstanding job wrapping up a comprehensive picture of our exploratory street art experience, was nice enough to take a picture with me, and led the remaining group safely to the studio workshop portion of the tour. Personally, I minored in street art during my postsecondary undergraduate tenure, so I already came with a general familiarity of street art. But my own knowledge of street art was eclipsed by Josh’s true understanding of street art and his passion for it. Overall, Josh and Alternative London put on an impressively thorough tour of the street art scene in London that I would absolutely and enthusiastically recommend to anyone passing through the UK. Thank you!!!
Excellent tour & a surprise at each street turn! Gabi our guide was extremely informative, differences between street art & graffiti, highlighting the different artists & styles, the history, traditions & respect for street art. He also talked about the history of the East End & the impact of each group of immigrants to the area. Highly recommend this tour, it opens your eyes to an artistically & culturally rich part of London not to be missed.
Great tour! Our guide Gary was superinformative about artists, techniques, and the history of Spitalfields.
Our guide was fabulous. Even in the heat wave we had such an amazing time listening to his in-depth knowledge of the artists and the city. It was so much fun and would highly recommend it.
Learning about this London neighborhood is fascinating, an important cultural experience, and alternative way to think about art.
Laura was a wonderful guide--with her experience in street art herself, she gave a great talk/walk pointing out works of art as well as techniques (to 'tag' and to 'dab'!) that we normally would not be able to see. Will recommend for all friends!
This was an awesome experience that I cannot recommend highly enough! We did the tour and workshop with Gary. He was a fantastic guide, full of information and perspective that was both enlightening and thought provoking. He made an effort to connect with his guests one on one. He shared specific details about graffiti and street art that broadened our horizons. Doing the workshop was an absolute bonus and we love what we got to take home! *You do not need to be creative or an artist to make something great! Gary showed us how and we are better for it. You will not regret adding on the workshop. Don't hesitate to choose this experience during your London visit!!
An absolutely fabulous tour. Laura, our guide, is a street artist herself knows the community as well as anyone. She was fun, informative, and knowledgeable. She was humorous, patient with our questions and full of. Useful information. I learned more about street art and street artist than I thought was possible in a two hour tour.
This was a fabulous tour! Gabby (?) covered a variety of street art media, told the history of the art form both worldwide and in London, and discussed the culture.
This was a great way to tour a part of London i’ve not explored much before as well as giving a view and history of the street art in the area our guide was great including the history of the area and how the communities in the area developed through history.
Very enjoyable. Recommend it highly. Good tour guide......near Spitlefield Market.....,.............
It was very interesting and more fun to explore the street art in a group than alone. The guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
The tour was great! Our guide (Josh) was authentic and very knowledgeable! I totally recommend this tour.
We had a fantastic day finding out about street art of different forms in Spitalfields and Brick Lane. Ava the guide knows her stuff (we particularly love the hidden gems in the area) and answers our questions to our satisfaction. We wish we has had time to stay for a workshop, but hopefully we can do it another time. We highly recommend it to those who hate to walk past interesting art not knowing that it's just right there!
Really great tour of the local street art, history and the people behind it. Walked down some streets I’ve never seen before and assumed they weren’t worth seeing.
Josh was exceptional, my partner and I really enjoyed
Josh led us through the evolution of street art in an engaging and relatable way. His passion for the culture was clear and contagious. The pace was comfortable and not rushed at all. Plenty of time was given to capture photos and admire the art, and all questions were answered happily. Book with confidence!
I took this street art tour and it was absolutely fantastic. The guide was extremely knowledgeable, and I learned a lot about both the art itself and the culture and history of Brick Lane. Highly recommended.
The guide, Ava, was so personable and knowledgeable. She shared personal stories, as she is an artist herself, and really taught me a lot, about the art and the artists!
This experience was all that I'd hoped. We saw a very wide selection of graffiti and street art. We learnt alot about its roots and how it developed in London. In addition, we were told lots of interesting facts about the East End of London. The guide was knowledgeable and had lived experience of the world if graffiti and street art.
Fabulius!! Fabulous!!! I have told a bunch of family members that live here that this tour is a must!
Loved it! Josh was super knowledgeable and engaging and that passion really came through. It's wellllll worth the money. Save some time after the tour to walk around the neighborhood with new eyes.
Great guide! Gave me who have little or no knowledge of street art a new perspective. Would recommend
I absolutely loved this tour! Josh was a fantastic guide — very engaging and knowledgeable, and he shared so much interesting information along the way. The street art was really fun to discover, and it was a great way to explore a beautiful neighborhood that you don’t often hear about. I highly recommend this tour!
This is a great tour. Josh provided much background information about the evolution of street art and showed us lots of street art during the 2 hour tour. Sadly, it rained the entire time, but Josh did not allow this to distract him from enthusiastically sharing his knowledge and love of the street art culture.
A great walk round Spitalfields and Brick Lane areas and learned loads more about the artists behind the murals and graffiti writing in the area from our guide as well as the range of styles and forms street art takes. Highly recommend this company and tour.
Guide was knowledgeable, fun and insightful. Can't ask for more. A lot to also see and do in the Shoreditch area as well..
