Itinerary
For our first stop of the night, we will visit Christ Church Greyfriars. You will hear the story of both the location’s history, as well as that of its most famous ghost, Queen Isabella, wife of King Edward the II of England, or as history more famously remembers her as, the She Wolf of France.
For the 2nd stop of the evening we will visit the largest parish church in the city of London. Where we will find out about the very grisly practice of grave robbing, A crime that reached epidemic proportions in the late 18th and early 19th century.
The walk will stop outside of the Old Bailey, which was once the location of the dreaded Newgate prison. Once there you will be given a brief history of the location, as well as hearing about some of the ghosts that are said to haunt it.
Here we enter the lair of the dreaded Black Dog of Newgate. Where we will hear about this demonic entity, as well as the terrible crime that was said to have birthed it.
We will be stopping at Temple Bar, which is the last of the London Gateways. Here you will be told of the history of the gate, which includes a truly terrifying ghost story that was retold to the guide by the person who experienced the event.
The walk will take us past St. Paul's Cathedral, where we will stop outside of it, and then hear a little about its history, as well as the ghost that is said to haunt it.
Still within the shadow of St Paul’s Cathedral we will stop here and find out about the open-air pulpit that one’s stood upon the location, and its connections to both necromancy and witchcraft.
The walk will take us past St Mary Le Bow, which is one of the most famous churches in the city of London. Once there we will stop, where you will hear a brief history of the building, and then be told of some of the creepy events that are said to have taken place there during its long history.
We will visit the Bank of England where we will find out more about the history of this grand old building and its function. We will also hear about its tragic ghost, Sarah Whitehead, who spirit is said to have haunted the location since the early 19th century.
At this location we will find out more about the ghosts of the London underground, as well as the many mysterious events that have said to have plague the station to this very day.
Staying with the London underground we come to one of the cities most famous ghost stations. Once at the location we will hear of the station’s short-lived history, as well as the supernatural events that are said to take place there.
The walk will stop next to the Monument to the Great Fire of London, where you will be told about its history, as well as hearing about the Great fire itself.
The final stop on the walk takes us to the banks of the river Thames, where we will be within sight of London Bridge. Once there you will hear about the bridge’s history, as well as the ghost story that is connected to it.

A great experience combining wonderful ghost stories interwoven with real history and Alan is a fantastic guide, historian, storyteller and explorer. The pace is great and although having lived in London for years I was pleasantly surprised to discover so much history right under my nose. For me the walk was perfect in combining the sites with the atmosphere and the stories. I definitely recommend this walk - you will enjoy it!
Alan led a creepy and atmospheric ghost walk, peppered with provable hard facts and stories about the City of London. He is a member of the City of London Guide Lecturers Association and his deep knowledge, along with his passion for all things ghostly, really shine through and make this a must-do experience if you're in London!
An excellent ghost walk. A perfect balance of ghostly legends and haunted history. Alan was very knowledgeable, and a good speaker.
Well worth the money. The stories and the history were very interesting and the fact that it was a very small group allowed us a lot of personal interaction with the guide. He was extremely knowledgeable of the area and its history. Highly recommended
We had a fantastic time on Alan’s ghost walk! From beginning to end we were truly captivated by his story telling and sense of humour. He truly does know his stuff! An amazing way to see some of the sights of the London also! Would thoroughly recommend!
I really enjoyed Alan’s tour. It was great to hear some old and new stories about its haunted past. Alan was very knowledgeable about London and its macabre history and dark stories, and he brought them to life as we explored different locations around the City. The tour covered plenty of ground without ever feeling rushed and was very well paced. One practical tip: the meeting point is outside the current Coco di Mama. Keep an eye out for it, as Google Maps may take you a little further down the road than where the group actually meets.
Entertaining, knowledgeable and wonderful.
Alan was amazing! Some great ghostly stories, but also interesting historical facts Thanks Alan for a great time!
Very interesting and thorough tour. It was a dark and misty night - but our guide was undeterred and enthusiastic the entire time. We bundled up and forged onward listening to ghost stories and exploring points of interest. We did not see a ghost but it was spooky to hear the stories -- especially as darkness fell. Wear your walking shoes!
Alan was extremely knowledgeable about the area covered by the Fading Light London Ghost Walk. He was very entertaining as he told us about the ghosts that are said to still move among us today. We spent a wonderful two hours learning about London's gruesome history and ghostly legends. We can't recommend this walk highly enough.
Great tour! Alan was very well versed in the history of the area and brought us to some very interesting sites. The tour was well paced, thorough and quite interesting. Lots of historic information. We were the only two people booked and the tour continued even with these lower numbers. While I can’t comment on how this would run with larger numbers, we really lucked out with the smaller tour and more individual attention. We even received some good recommendations for future reading materials aa our guide was very much into books and stories reflecting aspects of the tour but also thriller/horror genre of multimedia varieties. Well done Alan, we had a fantastic time and highly recommend your tour for those who would like to take a walk about London and learn some pretty cool things along the way.
Tour was great, lots of interesting stories and great way to spend the evening.
Such a great experience; Alan Aspinall had so many stories to tell! Be prepared to learn a lot about London's spooky past!
What an amazing evening, thanks Alan for spending time with us and passing on your extensive knowledge, the time went so quickly, would definitely recommend the Fading Light Tour, being in London in the dark added to the experience.
We had the most wonderful evening guided by Alan through the streets of London. He provided great knowledge on areas of London as well as been a really friendly chap. We felt the fee for the tour was very reasonable priced for 2 hours. One thing we would recommend is to bring extra layers if it’s cold as you stop for periods of time where it can be windy and we got quite chilly.
What a brilliant night. Alan was informative, very accommodating to some last minute changes and a lovely chap. The tour was great with loads of interesting ghost stories and lots about the history of London. Highly recommended.
Really insightful and interesting tour! Learned loads of facts and stories about London and its spooky occurrences! Alan was a friendly and funny tour guide! Great for a dark winter night!
What an amazing experience. ALan our guide was informative, funny, friendly, a magic storyteller and so so knowledgabe. I thoroughly recommend this tour. You get to see some beautiful parts of London and get to hear some bone chilling and fascinating and some very surprising stories. Brilliant. Do it.
A fun and informative trip around some of London's most historic and spooky corners. Informative and lots of opportunities to ask deeper questions about the history of London
Alan was great wealth of knowledge in both history and an experienced paranormal investigator. The tour was very interesting and fun. Highly recommend!!
I’d highly recommend this ghost tour! Alan is a fantastic storyteller, blending haunting ghost tales with fascinating local history. He’s engaging, friendly, and clearly passionate about what he does. The tour truly came alive as we explored beautiful — yet wonderfully eerie — landmarks around the area.
We thoroughly enjoyed our guided walking ghost tour with Alan. He was friendly, knowledgeable and a great ghost story teller. It is not all about the ghost stories though, we learnt a lot of historical facts about this area of London some of which were a little gruesome! The tour ran on time and we found Alan easily enough at exit 1. He is thoughtful about the stops and there are normally seats to sit on at most of the locations. Alan is definitely the right person to do this guided tour with and is enthusiastic about the subject. We loved it and would recommend the tour and him without hesitation.
Atmospheric ghost walk with great City locations and interesting narrative. Lots of history and architecture as well as plenty of ghost stories. The Black Dog story gave me the shivers! Alan strides out fast so you need to keep up, but there are lots of stops, and he's really thoughtful at stopping where there are seats nearby. He talks fast too, but there's so much to cram in, it's a really full tour, I'd recommend it.
Alan was very knowledgable. Beside the amazing ghost stories he was knowledgable on history of London and it's buildings. All in all we had a wonderfull time.
We really enjoyed the tour with Alan. He had some really interesting stories that I’d not heard before on any other ghost tours around London. Would definitely recommend!
This was a brilliant experience! The guide was passionate and professional and it was great to learn so much history about London alongside all of the spooky stories. Definitely worth booking!
A great experience. Very informative and so much fun! Alan the Guide is a great story teller and shares so much history of London.
Such a fun time. My mom and I love ghost tours and always try to go to one wherever we go. Alan was an engaging storyteller and really knew his stuff. Wandering the city at night just added to the eeriness. Loved the history we learned and the creepy stories. Would highly recommend Alan and his tour to others.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly! He doesn’t just know about the ghosts but also the history of the city of london. He took us to lots of scenic spots in central London. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a haunted ghost walk.
It was the best ghost tour we ever went! The places, the stories were all so interesting. The ghost stories mixed with history was truly amazing touch. If you are looking for an authentic ghost tour - this is the one you need! In addition, I would like to say a huge thank you for not cancelling our tour even though it was only one reservation (2 people).
Alan made the walk very interesting with many ghost stories. He was easy to listen to and kept the walk at an easy pace. Highly recommended
Very well organised walking tour. Alan relayed many interesting historical stories about the people and buildings. It was entertaining and provided a real insight into the darker side of London.
My two daughters and I joined Alan for the Fading Light London Ghost Walk while we vacationed in the U.K. Alan was absolutely outstanding! He is so knowledgeable that it was very impressive. He kept our attention with every step! We loved his stories about the London ghosts and all the history that went along with the tour. I highly recommend this experience! Alan is the best!
Allan is very knowledgeable, very passionate about his subject, and a good tour guide. We had a great tour with him, and enjoyed his company on a lovely summer evening. He is also an author in the same genre. We will be checking out his horror novels on kindle. Thanks Allan !
We thoroughly enjoyed our walk with Alan. He is a fun, knowledgeable and friendly guide who knows the city and tells a good, spooky tale. Highly recommended. Thank you, Alan!
We had a blast with our lovely tour guide Alan! He not only showed us all around London and told us spooky stories, but also took the time to get to know us and made the whole experience feel personal and memorable. Highly recommend!
Amazing tour, amazing guide. Alan is very knowledgeable and a fantastic story teller. I cannot recommend this tour enough!
Alan is a master storyteller! He took us to some interesting and somewhat off-the-beaten-path locations, buildings you might even overlook if you walked by, and transported us to another time. Alan is friendly, knowledgeable, and truly passionate about the history of the haunts he shows you. Even though sometimes the noise and crowd spillover from a nearby pub might be distracting (we were in London during an unusually warm week and lots of locals and tourists were taking advantage of it!), Alan's stories were so good, I was easily drawn back in. Highly recommend!
The guide was amazing and very thoughtful. He took his time to get to know everyone and tried to explain everything in a very interesting way. We had a lot of fun learning about the Ghost Storys of London.
Alan was a great tour guide. Very informative and passionate about the history and hauntings of London. Would definitely recommend this tour for a fun evening activity.
Had a great evening with our guide Alan. Alan was able to weave local folklore with historical context, really enhancing our appreciation for landmarks we visited. You will cover a lot of stops for a 2 hour tour, bring your walking shoes and a light jacket.
Fascinating couple of hours. Alan's stories were spooky and very well presented. Real history told with a ghostly twist that brings it to 'life'. Alan was also very knowledgable and happy to answer all our questions. As a couple of Aussie visitors we found the tour a great way to encounter a little of the darker history of London. We highly recommend this tour.
This was one of my favourite parts of my England trip! Alan was very knowledgeable and passionate about the history and ghosts of London, and was able to answer all questions I had. The pacing was good, and even though I was the only one on the tour this night, Alan's energy still made the spooky stories come alive. I highly recommend this ghost tour, I learned a lot about the city and definitely was spooked!
We really loved how Alain took us throughout London telling the most amazing stories. We learned about the haunted but also about some history of London.
Alan is a lovely and kind host and guide. He knows his history and the ghost stories were entertaining. Nice way to get to know the old city of London for when you are on your own.
Allan the guide was very knowledgable and friendly. This is a great tour for anyone that likes a bit if old london history - you see good sites in Lindon - whilst getting some ghost stories to go with them.
Thank you for the amazing tour! My friends and I had a blast hearing the haunted stories and historical facts of old London, and Alan was a truly entertaining guide. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is into history and loves a good story.
Alan was amazing! A very interesting tour with great stops along the way. Alan answered any questions we had and was a really lovely man. Highly recommend!!
