Itinerary
Planning to tick Stonehenge off your bucket list? This stress-free return trip to Stonehenge from London will allow you to explore the world-famous site at a relaxed pace. The coach for this self-guided tour will be departing from Victoria, central London – make sure you are at the pickup spot at least 15 minutes beforehand to check in! As you’re walking around Stonehenge, you’ll get to learn about the many theories (some still standing, some proven wrong) surrounding this remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Site. Was it a burial ground? A sacred temple? A way to tell the time? Despite having been sitting proudly on Salisbury Plain for 5,000 years, Stonehenge is still very much an enigma. Hear about its long history and enjoy this fascinating place! You’ll also have time to explore the site’s exhibition and visitor centre – containing 250 ancient objects discovered around Stonehenge – and walk around the incredible models of Neolithic houses.

Enjoyed the experience and learned a lot. Had fun with my son. We did everything recommended on the tour.
Coach travel was comfortable but no interaction or explanation as to where to go or process when we arrived.
Our guide, Kee, was wonderful. Polite, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful with descriptions of popular sites along the route.
The worst ever, terrible . The driver didn’t say a word to us all. When she did it was like a mutter
Everything was perfect and this was a great experience!
Great time there and the driver was very professional. The site was very interesting and was a fun time
Easy trip to get to Stonehenge. Driver Kee was excellent and gave interesting facts along the way.
Originally booked tour of Stonehenge and Cotswolds but that was canceled so we booked this instead. Excellent trip. "Saint" Patrick was funny and informative. Thoroughly enjoyed the trip even if it is technically not a guided tour.
Unique experience! I have used Viator both domestic and international. I highly recommend this tour and Viator.
I loved the history and atmosphere! Our guide Giles was excellent and quite knowledgeable.
Kee, our bus driver was so professional and very informative. Great experience!!!
Good trip. Met expectations. Kee was a great driver. While not a guided tour, he did tell us about some sites along the way. We went on a Saturday and it took all of two hours to get there.
While we were hiking to the Golden Tours coach stop, I stopped to ask someone if we were close. It turns out the man we asked was our tour's Coach Driver, Kieran! He politely gave us instructions to a point a bit further up the road, and said he will be there soon. Once on our way to Stonehenge, he gave some good commentary, with humor and history. He was able to avoid a traffic backup by going an alternate route. He had some interesting commentary on that route also. I wish I had taken more than a 1/2 day to see more of Stonehenge, and take more photos. On our way back to London, Kieran also slowed down as a cat ran across the road. At the end of our trip he took the time to hail a cab for an older lady who had wanted him to stop at a place somewhere off the route. He truly cares about his passengers, and made sure she got a cab to where she wanted to go. I will book another Golden Tour in the future.
The driver named Kiran drove very safely and gave a lot of interesting, helpful and entertaining informations.
Kiran was an absolutely fantastic guide and driver. He pointed out things I wouldn’t have seen. Very polite and personable.
Great experience and great time to relax there and back. We had a wonderful driver who provided a reminder when to get back to the bus.
Thank you so much to our wonderful driver, Kiran! It’s truly special when someone doesn’t just do their job, but does it with genuine care, patience, and professionalism. Thank you for your wonderful guidance, friendliness, and kindness throughout the entire trip. Wishing you many safe miles ahead and lots of happy passengers! 🙏
Really enjoyed this trip. Kiran was our driver and guide, gave us great information and pointers on how to make the most of our experience. Thanks for a great time!
I didn't get to go on the tour because the bus left without us. We had trouble finding the bus stop and were communicating with the tour but we arrived 5 minutes late and the bus left. They were very hard to communicate with and we found the office, who would only refer us to an email address. We wanted to go the next day but still have not received a response regarding reschedule or refund. I would recommend a different group.
We actually missed out on the experience. If you book this, take into consideration delays if traveling by the Underground, this is how we missed our booking. The Tube stopped for minutes several times, we missed our bus by 9 minutes.
What can’t we say about Armando! Very polite, gentlemanly, and quick witted as well as very informative. His driving was extremely safe. The coach was very clean and his voice was clear as day (just like the weather) on our way to see Stonehenge. Viator set reasonable prices, please don’t be late and miss this experience. It’s easy to give him a 5 star review.
A wonderful day tour. Long bus drive but all worth it. The place has, cafe, toilets, shop....... ...........
The bus driver was very good. The guide at the pickup location was a little late.
Tour was great driver was kind, friendly and very communicative. He made sure we had our entrance tickets and knew exactly what time we needed to be back at the bus to return The stonehenge experience itself is amazing
It was worth visiting. It is just as iconic as the pictures show it, but the spirit of the place is only felt there.
Appreciate the tour moving my ticket date after the marathon changed our primary tour’s plans. The bus ride was fine. The ticket taker lady (hostess?) was a zero star. She spoke zero. We got on when she moved aside to have access to bus door and handed out wrist bands. Drive was decent. Arrived Stonehenge, unloaded bus, received a Stonehenge wristband and we were on our own to figure out what the heck to do next and when to be back to bus. We would have spent another 15 minutes at Center had we known the definitive time to be back on board. She vanished once we were off the bus. She needs some Customer Service skills training!
The driver of our coach made this trip an absolute dream. He was knowledgeable and articulate in pointing out the places of interest on our way out of London on the way to Stonehenge. The trip itself was superb. The only disappointment was in myself who did not have cash to leave this perfect tour guide a tip....always remember to have a small amount of cash for the good guys.
All good, we had a great time. Highly recommend
The coach ride was very nice and the seats reclined so we could nap since we’d just flown across the ocean only hours before. Stonehenge was a bucket list item and was cool to see with our own eyes.
Ashley did a great job driving us there. He was very informative and friendly.
I enjoyed the tour Stonehenge was on my bucketlist of places to see in England. Going there met my every expectation. The driver was able to point out places of interest while we were still in the environs of London. (Did not appreciate his quip about Harry and Megan and I am not a Royalist) We were dropped off where we were picked up and that was greatly appreciated. The bus was too cold and it seems the fan was on full speed and it made the bus very, very noisy.
Driver Ashley was so good witty and informative loved his commentary The time period to explore was to short
This was a great tour. Plenty of time at Stonehenge but short enough to not be too much for someone who is elderly.
In/Out to view Stonehenge but was disappointed that I wasn’t able to get closer. Lots of Walking so wear comfortable shoes.
Kee was a wonderful guide who shared a lot of information about landmarks on the way to Stonehenge and back. The coach was very comfortable and of course Stonehenge was fabulous. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting London. It was quite well done.
Great tour to/from Stonehenge! Bus was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Reserved seating well worth the added cost. Lunch was very tasty. Driver Kee was delightful, pointing out points of interest along the way! Thoroughly delightful trip.
We loved seeing Stonehenge but regret not getting the headset and having the audio tour. It rained for the two hour ride. When we arrived we asked our driver about ponchos and he said he did not have any. About 30 minutes later we saw a grocery getting off another bus run by Golden Tours and they had on ponchos that said Golden Tours on the back.
I went into this trip with the awareness that the coach driver would likely not be providing any sort of commentary so, when there wasn't one, I wasn't surprised. With that said, Golden Tours provided the bus/Coach to the Stonehenge parking lot for the visitor's center. From there, you take a shuttle or walk the 1.5 miles to Stonehenge. The shuttles ran regularly. I had time to ride the shuttle to Stonehenge, walk around the path that circles the stones, walk back to the visitor's center, and visit the gift shop. Also, had a cheese and onion pasty from the cafe. Delicious! This was a mid September visit.
you will be well looked after, If you are lucky enough to fet Amando as your driver here will share some history about London and stonehenge. Higly recommended
Ride was comfortable - sadly the Stonehenge closed an hour early and some of the older people missed the last bus to the site and missed seeing it all Together - better Communication of special events or Early closure should be communicated to the drivers and choices given for a lifetime event.
The bus ride was smooth. The driver was polite, professional and provided the necessary information to navigate the tour. The travel agency location was somewhat difficult to find but found it with the help of an Uber driver.
Very interesting visit. There was other things to do around stones especially for little ones. Also big gift shop and cafe
Location was a little confusing for the pickup spot but we found it. I thought we would have a guide the whole way but it’s basically transportation and admission. The time was short about an hour and a half at the stones but it was fun looking at them. Armando was very helpful
Our Stonehendge tour was for meeting following our visit to changing of the guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace. We had more than enough time for the short walk from the palace inorder to do some souvenir shopping. It was easy to find and check in. Since we had paid for premium service we were ushered to the front of the line and given our bagged lunches. The lunches were good consisting of a salad, fruit bowl, coke water and a chocolate. Our Bus Driver Rob was very witty, and knowledgeable and made the trip enjoyable making the long two hour drive enjoying. The Stonehendge itself was a mark in history and glad we were able to experience this trip.
Wonderful experience! Kiran, our guide was very knowledgeable and shared so much information on the way to and from Stonehenge. Not just about the location but all of London. Plenty of time at Stonehenge, would not have needed more unless planning to hike around the landscape. Would definitely recommend!
Our Tour driver, Kiran was great! He gave us many details and information about London while we drove out of the city. Was thorough in his explanations of what to expect at Stonehenge . Distributed rain ponchos to us as it was misting. On the way back gave ideas for shopping, restaurants, attractions, shows. Very informative! Added plus was a restroom on the coach. Would definitely recommend !
I’ve booked trips on TripAdvisor before and always a successful one. This one in particular was not a great experience from beginning to end. We got to the pick up point around 8:15 am. We saw a big line and people with luggage so we weren’t sure if that was the correct line. We asked the person that was checking people and letting them go to the bus and he had an attitude and only said get in line. We got in line and when it was our time to check in he keeps saying that we weren’t on the list, meanwhile I’m showing him reservations, text, app and my husband is pointing at our names on the paper list that he had. He checked us in on his iPad and told us to get on the bus. The bus was very crowded with only a couple of single seat. We asked kindly if we can go on the second bus, we heard people saying it was a second bus and were waiting and we were told no, sit with someone else because we have to go. It was a back and forth between the check in guy and the driver. I’m not sitting with a stranger when the front of the bus was empty (supposedly reserved) and a second bus was coming. Our driver rolled her eyes and told us to sit o the front. The other guy came and told us seat whenever. We sat at the front and the bus left immediately. Actually earlier than the time that it says on the reservation. The driver never introduced herself, or say anything at all the whole ride there. When we arrived she just gave everyone the entrance wrist band and the time to comeback, no any other explanation. We are travelers so we figured out for ourselves, but it was people on the bus that were completely clueless. The time that you have at this attraction is very short considering that if you walk from the entrance it will be 30 min each way plus the time taking pictures. The bus is about 5 min but we were in line for 40 minutes trying to take the bus. We got back to the bus, we sat and when the driver was checking people she again was like are you sure that you’re in the right bus? I don’t have you on the list. I mean seriously, we were sitting basically next to her the whole ride and she didn’t recall the people on her own bus, specially because after the whole thing at check in and she gave us those seat. Which by the way, the whole 8 or 10 reserved seats were empty the whole time. Minus the two that we occupied. Not, those were not any special seats or any different seats. We were told that we were being dropped at a certain location different than pick up, we got dropped at pick up. Some people asked her about it because those were the instructions on the booking, she acted like she didn’t know about it. Which is not correct because people made plans for dropping off at a certain place ad we went somewhere else. Unfortunately it was not the best experience, the trip felt rushed. For the money spent it would have been better to rent a car and go on our own. Very disappointed at this company and the treatment.
Great experience! Kiran, our guide was very knowledgeable and provided a lot of information on the coach ride over. Plenty of time at Stonehenge itself, wouldn’t need more than 2 hours unless you wanted to do further hiking around the landscape. Would recommend!
It was great. Fantastic driver, I think his name was Rob.
